Gary Redus II joined Coach Kim Mulkey's staff at LSU prior to the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach and is in his second season in Baton Rouge. Redus is an up-and-coming assistant coach and recruiter who was named to the 2020 WBCA “Thirty Under 30” list.In his first season at LSU, Redus made an immediate impact. He quickly helped the Tigers secure ESPN's top ranked recruiting class during his first fall in Baton Rouge. He worked closely with LSU's guards every day in practice who developed into a lethal group that could run the offense, score at all three levels and defend at a high level. His first-year contributions helped LSU find its stride as one of the nation's top teams. The 2023 season marked Redus' first year during his coaching career in which he reached the NCAA Tournament, but the Tigers were poised to do more as he helped lead them to their first national championship victory.Redus came to LSU after one season as an assistant coach at SMU, helping guide the Mustangs to 14 wins. Prior the that, Redus established himself as an elite recruiter in the SEC during a three-season stint at Vanderbilt where he recruited and signed the programs first trio of top-100 prospects since 2016.Prior to joining the staff at Vanderbilt, Redus served as an assistant at Delta State, a perennial Division II power in Cleveland, Miss. Redus worked under longtime head coach Craig Roden at the program started by Margaret Wade, the namesake for the NCAA Division I Women's Player of the Year trophy. Before embarking on his coaching career, Redus played four seasons of professional basketball overseas, with stints in China, South America and the Middle East. After his playing career, Redus served as a graduate assistant at West Georgia, where he earned a master of arts degree in special education.Redus played two seasons at South Alabama, averaging nearly 10 points per game, and was a two-time selection to the Sun Belt Conference All-Academic Team. The Story of 200 Forgotten Murder Victims By Robert Riggs They were daughters. Mothers. Sisters. Strangers. Their lives ended violently—and their names were lost to time. For more than half a century, Detroit's forgotten dead lay buried beneath weeds and silence—unidentified murder victims dumped into paupers' graves, sometimes stacked in vaults three-deep, known only by numbers in crumbling cemetery logs. No names. No justice. No answers. This is the remarkable five-year journey of a team of relentless female investigators who pledged to identify more than 200 victims of Detroit's outstanding murder cases. Led by Detroit Police Detective Shannon Jones and FBI Special Agent Leslie Larsen, this group of dedicated women—detectives, agents, forensic anthropologists, and scientists—literally dug through the past to bring closure to families and justice to the murdered. Their quest became known as Operation UNITED, the largest coordinated exhumation of cold case murder victims in FBI history. Katherine Schweit tells the story of this unprecedented, five-year mission in her book, Women Who Talk to the Dead. Schweit is a former FBI Special Agent Executive, Chicago prosecutor, and journalist. She wrote the FBI's seminal report on mass shooters and is a recognized expert in crisis response and workplace violence. If you or someone you know is searching for a missing loved one, there's a tool that can help. The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs.

"You wake up at 5:20, you put your tee in the ground, you hit your shot, and then the four of you walk off to the ball and you hit it again, and you keep on going. It's very simplistic. You go left foot, right foot until you're finished. 72 holes."Jason has tackled one of golf's most brutal endurance tests 13 times: the Bandon Solstice. This isn't your casual weekend round. Participants play 72 holes of walking-only golf in a single day, starting at 5:20 AM on the longest day of the year at Bandon Dunes Resort in Oregon. What makes this particularly nasty? Try 50,000+ steps across four championship courses with no carts allowed. Jason learned the hard way when his caddie bailed after 36 holes during his first attempt, forcing him to carry his own bag the rest of the way. The preparation is serious business: "You need to eat a lot of food the night before. You should be uncomfortable when you leave the dinner table" because you'll burn around 10,000 calories during the challenge! Weather can be absolutely brutal. Jason recalls 60-mph winds so fierce that "the sand looked like water" flowing across the beach below the clifftop courses. Getting in requires either legacy status (like Jason earned by pestering the original GM into making it official) or winning what's essentially a lottery that sells out within minutes. The waiting list is rumored to be 10 years deep."It's absolutely doable to such a broad range of fitness levels," Jason insists, though surviving involves equal parts physical endurance and mental fortitude. Expect rewards in the form of gift bags, stories at McKees Pub, and bragging rights for completing golf's ultimate marathon! For more information about the Bandon Dunes Solstice, please visit: https://bandondunesgolf.com/golf/golf-events/For more information on our 2026 Desert Classic Tournament, please visit: DesertClassicTournament.comSubscribe to our FREE Female Golfer Facebook Group: First TCrew [Behind the Scenes of Women's Golf]Get in touch!Instagram: @tori_totlisTikTok: @tori_totlisYouTube: @tori.totlisWebsite: CompeteConfidenceGolf.comBe sure you are subscribed to our podcast to automatically receive the NEW episodes weekly!!!

Listener Week continues on Woman's Hour as we bring your stories, ideas and the issues you want to hear about to the air.Carola got in touch to ask if we could find out more about the benefits of testosterone for post-menopausal women. Dr Joyce Harper, Professor of Reproductive Science at the Institute for Women's Health at University College London, joins Nuala McGovern to discuss the evidence. When we think about children in situations of domestic abuse, it's often young children we think of - but what about adult children? We received a letter from a listener telling us about a dilemma she is facing. After previously being in an abusive relationship with the father of her four adult children, she's now considering whether to tell them that their parents' relationship was coercive. Gemma Sherrington, CEO of Refuge, and coercive control expert Dr Gemma Katz join us to discuss the issues around a parent deciding whether to be honest with their grown-up children or continue to protect them from their reality. Jess wrote in to tell us about a poem she came across on social media about the post-partum period, calling it “absolutely beautiful”. She added: “There are hundreds of comments across Instagram and TikTok of mothers feeling exactly the same way. Please check it out, I would love to hear more from this poet.” We've tracked her down and her name is Amy Williams. She joins us to perform the poem live in the studio. Listener Sarah Hutchinson wants to know more about dreams. Specifically, why she has been having more vivid, memorable dreams during the recent heatwaves, and whether women's experience of dreaming is linked to the menstrual cycle? Sarah joins Nuala along with Caroline Horton, Professor of Sleep and Cognition and director of the DrEAMSLab at Bishop Grosseteste University. And listener Heather tells us what it was like setting up one of the first dating agencies in the 1980s, aimed at helping people in rural communities find love. To address the lack of female-friendly practices in the financial industry. Key stat: “By 2030, women will control two-thirds of the nation’s wealth—$30 trillion.” 4. Challenges in the Financial Industry Industry built by men, for men. Not ready for the shift in wealth ownership to women. Harvard Business Review (2009): “Financial services is the least sympathetic to women and has the most to gain if they get it right.” 5. Financial Planning Philosophy Everyone deserves a financial plan. Quote: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Financial planning includes: Risk management Cash flow Tax strategy Investments Retirement Estate planning 6. Making the Industry Female-Friendly Women often leave their financial advisors after a spouse dies (80% of the time). Reasons: lack of connection, poor communication, feeling ignored. Not a DEI issue, but a dollars and cents issue: “What other industry would ignore a $30 trillion opportunity?” 7. Stereotypes and Societal Expectations Women face pressure to look attractive in professional settings. Stereotypes persist in media and even in AI-generated images. Example: AI generated a man when asked for an image of a financial planner with long hair. 8. Cary’s Personal Journey Inspired by her father, a JPMorgan Chase executive. Grew up learning about money and finance. Built her business by focusing on women, not traditional male-dominated marketing. Quote: “Money equals power, and women need more of both.” 9. The Wealth Gap Beyond the wage gap, the wealth gap is driven by caregiving responsibilities. Termed the “good daughter/spouse penalty.” Lifetime cost to women: $1 million. 10. Call to Action Women should seek financial literacy and independence. Encourage planning before crisis hits. Quote: “Wealth gives you choices in life.”
Andy and Brendan! are joined by The Boys for the Victory Monday to end all Victory Mondays. PJ and Joseph LaMagna are ecstatic after Cameron Young secured his first PGA Tour win at the Wyndham, becoming the 1,000th unique winner in Tour history. Brendan has some questions about how we arrived at the 1,000 number, perhaps throwing an asterisk on the forever-nickname of "Mr. 1,000." There's plenty of debate about Cameron's Ryder Cup standing heading into the event in his home state and a potential playoff push for Playoff P coming up. PJ walks everyone through his mentality throughout the weekend as it became clear that the NYGC stalwart was going to win for the first time. LaMagna also sheds some light on real improvements in Young's game that could lead to a #floodgates situation following this win. Andy and Brendan then discuss some Coffee Golf, chatting through Miyu Yamashita's win at the AIG Women's Open. Jackson Koivun gets some love for his performance at the Wyndham despite skipping the Western Am, which was won by Jase Summy at Skokie Country Club. As you could probably imagine, the majority of this episode focuses on Cameron Young and the manifestation of his first-ever win and ensuing lasting legacy as Mr. 1,000 on the PGA Tour.

On today’s Rickey Smiley Morning Show, listeners explored four compelling headlines. First, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Gina Huynh (formerly “Victim 3” in the case), has written a personal letter to the judge urging he be released on bail prior to his October sentencing. In the letter, she describes him as a “family man” who has reformed and poses no danger to the community, signaling a sharp contrast from her earlier allegations during the trial. Next, rapper Trick Daddy made waves when he shared on the Nene Leakes show that he prefers dating women under age 35, citing his personal values and lifestyle preferences—prompting debate about ageism and dating norms in entertainment culture. In broader news, Black unemployment rates have surged to their highest levels since the pandemic, and many analysts point to the rollback of DEI practices as a contributing factor, particularly affecting Black women in the workforce. We reached back into the archives and pulled out a very special episode that Dave and Bethlie did back in season 2. Pray for Pastor Dave as he recovers from a pretty nasty cold. In this special episode, Dave and Bethlie Young tackle the critical issue of internet pornography and its impact on families. They share alarming statistics about pornography exposure among children and teens, including that 93% of boys and 62% of girls are exposed to internet porn before age 18, with the average first exposure occurring at age 11. Pornography has become "aggressive" - actively seeking out children rather than requiring them to search for it. No family is exempt from this challenge, whether homeschooled, Christian schooled, or public schooled. Women's History, Episode #1 of 4. In 1987, the last reported instance of sati threw India into a maelstrom of furious debate and conflict following the ritual suicide of Roop Kanwar after her young husband's death. Nearly 150 years earlier, British colonial officer Lord William Bentinck passed a prohibition on sati in British India. As Roop Kanwar's death suggests, British colonial rule did not end the practice of sati in India - not at the time of that prohibition, not in the 30 years that followed as the British East India Company tried to expand their influence into the subcontinent Rajputs that were nominally autonomous, and not before, during, or after Indian independence. Widowed girls and women (and yes, we'll come back to the specificity of girls and women later) continued to climb onto their dead husband's funeral pyres and burn alive, whether because they believed it was their duty, because they felt they had no other choice, because they couldn't face a future where their widowhood would be socially and culturally enforced until they died anyway, or because their religious fervor and/or grief moved them to suicide by fire. The history - and experience - of sati in India is complicated, made more so by the ham-fisted intervention of British colonialism, the rise of Hindu nationalism in the late nineteenth century, and the growth of a feminist movement - involving both European and Indian women - in the twentieth century. Maybe women aren't bad at friendship — maybe we've just been handed a model that doesn't actually work. One that expects perfection, constant connection, and a whole lot of emotional labor... without any room for evolution, conflict, or change. In this episode, we're questioning that model and taking a deeper look at how friendship has changed — historically, culturally, and personally — with cultural historian Tiffany Watt Smith. Together, we explore how women have been portrayed as bad friends (by the media and by society), and how we've quietly been redefining friendship on our own terms. We talk about why friendship dips are normal, why disagreements aren't deal-breakers, and why being a “bad friend” might actually be a sign that you're showing up in a real, honest, human way. Because the goal isn't friendship that looks perfect from the outside. It's friendship that can bend, stretch, shift, and still hold. This conversation is part history lesson, part gut check, and all about rebuilding our relationships on something real. Debbie Deem joins Dr. Sandie Morgan to discuss how transnational fraud predators are stealing billions from older adults and the intersection between financial crimes and human trafficking. Debbie Deem Debbie Deem is a retired FBI victim specialist with over 40 years of experience serving crime victims. She's currently an elder justice victim advocate, specializing in transnational fraud crimes and she serves as co-facilitator for the National Adult Protective Services Association Fraud Forum. She helped start the Victim Assistance Programs at the US Attorney's Office in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, where in the early to mid-1990s she discovered what we now call human trafficking victims and was assisting those victims while also working with financial crime victims. After moving to the FBI in 2003, she began focusing on older victims of lottery, sweepstakes, and romance frauds, gravitating toward the most underserved victims throughout her career. Key Points Financial fraud against older adults is now the most common crime happening around the world, with $4.9 billion reported stolen from Americans 60 and older in 2024 alone, representing a 33% increase from the previous year. The Federal Trade Commission estimates that close to $160 billion per year is stolen from all Americans due to fraud crimes, making this a massive underreported crisis. Language matters when discussing fraud victims - using terms like "defrauded" instead of "scammed" helps maintain victim dignity and reduces blame, similar to how language evolved in human trafficking advocacy. Common fraud types include romance frauds using stolen military or celebrity images, crypto investment frauds starting with innocent text messages, lottery/sweepstakes frauds, tech support impersonations, and phantom hacking where criminals impersonate bank security. Victims experience trauma bonds and love bombing similar to human trafficking victims, making it extremely difficult to recognize they're being manipulated even when red flags are present. The neuroscience behind financial fraud shows that brain chemistry and excitement responses make these relationships feel authentic to victims, requiring neuropsychologists and medical professionals to help explain what's happening. System failures are widespread - in one case study, a victim lost $380,000 but police didn't respond, banks didn't file required Adult Protective Services reports, and victim services provided no meaningful support. Crypto ATMs have become "fraud machines" found in gas stations and small stores, though California now limits transactions to $1,000 per day, causing criminals to evolve to using couriers and other methods. Prevention strategies include not answering unknown phone calls, getting scam warning apps, sharing personal fraud experiences with family members rather than lecturing, and establishing trusted contacts on all financial accounts. Revictimization occurs through recovery scams where criminals impersonate law enforcement agencies claiming they can help recover stolen funds, and through tax obligations on money withdrawn from retirement accounts even when it was stolen. The crime creates long-term devastation including bankruptcy, homelessness, suicide ideation, and forcing elderly victims back into the workforce after losing life savings. This field is where human trafficking advocacy was 20 years ago - needing widespread recognition, proper terminology, victim services, and systemic responses to address the crisis effectively. Send us a textSkyrocketing in popularity over the last five years, intermittent fasting has positioned itself as the diet trend du jour. But beyond the simple concept of timing your meals within specific windows, does this approach deliver on its promises? This deep dive explores what research actually tells us about intermittent fasting versus traditional calorie restriction. Spoiler alert: when calories are equal, the results are identical. We tackle common misconceptions about metabolism slowing, optimal protein timing, and who should think twice before jumping on the fasting bandwagon. The protein puzzle proves particularly interesting – your body can only use about 30-40 grams of protein for muscle synthesis at once, no matter how much you consume in a sitting. This creates a fundamental conflict with many fasting protocols that limit eating windows. For those seeking muscle gain or retention (which should be everyone looking for sustainable weight management), spreading protein intake across 3-4 daily meals provides significantly better results than cramming it all into one or two meals.Women face unique challenges with intermittent fasting, as it can wreak havoc on hormonal balance, especially during menopause. Meanwhile, those with eating disorder histories might find fasting provides a socially acceptable mask for unhealthy behaviors. But it's not all negative – people struggling with insulin resistance or lacking structure around nighttime eating might benefit from strategic meal timing.Whether you're currently fasting, considering it, or skeptical about the whole concept, this evidence-based breakdown helps you make informed decisions about your nutrition approach.
