Brisbane, Australia's The Saints are responsible for two of the greatest punk albums of all time, in 1977's '(I'm) Stranded' and 1978's 'Eternally Yours.' This November, look for “The Saints '73-‘78” to be touring North America, featuring original members Ed Kuepper and Ivor Hay, along with The Birthday Party's Mick Harvey, the Sunnyboys' Peter Oxley and Mudhoney's Mark Arm, in service of original lead singer Chris Bailey, lost to us in 2022. Additionally, there's a four-LP boxset version of the milestone debut album out, as well as a new solo album from Ed, done in conjunction with Jim White from the Dirty Three, called 'After the Flood.' Check out Goldmine author Martin Popoff interview The Saints guitarist/ vocalist/songwriter Ed Kuepper in a wide-ranging chat that looks at how The Saints dovetailed into the punk movement, along with a fair bit on each of the three albums covered by the upcoming tour, plus a look at the new solo album. We also touch upon the creative differences that led to Ed's split with Chris after the band's controversial third album, 'Prehistoric Sounds,' issued in October of 1978. Horns? Acoustic guitars? Surely The Saints didn't invent punk?! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The surf injected power pop of the Sunnyboys radiates a youthful vigour, and it captured the spirit of the Aussie music scene in the early 1980's. Now the Sunnyboys fab four are back touring and they'll be playing intimate venues more akin to their breakout year of 1981.

Hey folks when I first hatched this idea of starting a music Podcast, even before I recorded the first episode I had a dream list of people I would aim to get on the show. With episode #55 I reached the top of my list with Ashley Naylor from Melbourne's rock trio, Even. Ashley was incredibly generous with his time when we caught up and we covered many topics ranging from his own achievements during his almost 30-year career, to his extensive knowledge of music history. He spoke of his favourite music & artists and stories behind 'Even' and many other great Australian acts he has played with including Paul Kelly and The Church. Links: **Check out Ashley's recently released solo album on Spotify - Soundtracks, Vol. 1 ** Even's latest album on Spotify 'Satin Returns'. ** Even's recent cover album 'Down at the Shops' featuring cover's of The Kinks, The Beatles, Sunnyboys, Sex Pistols and more. **Ashley's version of Midnight Oil's song 'Hercules' on Bandcamp. All proceeds donated to Support Act. ** Shogun Studios presents The Beatles 50th Anniversary rooftop tribute. Recorded and filmed in Melbourne on January 30, 2019, this 5-song concert features stellar performances from the DIG-A-PHONYS: with Ashley Naylor, Davey Lane and more. An extra special THANK YOU to Ashley for being so generous with his time and for being so open with his stories and his knowledge. Ashley also confessed as to weather rock n' roll did in fact save his life... I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did, video of this conversation available on the Foxx on the Wire YouTube channel. Don't forget to follow the Podcast on Instagram and Facebook!

The Aints The Aints were formed by Ed Kuepper who formed the legendary The Saints in Brisbane which became one of the world’s first punk bands. There are two iterations of The Aints, they first popped up on the scene in the early 90’s and released a few EP’s before peetering out in ‘94 after an album was recorded but never released. The Aints as a name is from the old days when an S had worn off the kick drum which originally said The Saints. For this recent stint in the music world, Kuepper recruited the best of the best to formulate a band which would tear through The Saints back catalogue as well as their own material. Kuepper recruited Peter Oxley from The Sunnyboys on bass, Paul Larsen Loughead from The Celibate Rifles and The New Christs on the drums, Alister Spence on piano and Eamon Dilworth arranging the brass and on trumpet. If you’re a keen listener or just a diehard fan you might want to jump back a few episodes to Episode 267 where we featured the first half of this recording of all classic The Saints songs. This episode however, will feature the second half of that gig where they played the entire set of the new Aints material to an eager crowd. The Aints in 2018 released an album called The Church of Simultaneous Existence which was an epic piece of work and well received by fans so much so that the title track placed at number 90 in the coveted 4ZZZ Hot 100 of 2018. Recorded live at The Triffid on the 27th of October in 2018

The Aints play high feedback loud intense music with the brass section just bringing the energy up a whole new level. It’s absolute classics that you have loved your whole life as well as new gems that this tight outfit have produced themselves. The Aints in 2018 released an album called The Church of Simultaneous Existence which if you stay tuned to Live Delay you might just hear sometime soon. This set features classics from The Saints but without a doubt The Aints are their own band with their own energy. Recorded live at The Triffid on the 27th of October in 2018 this is The Aints and you’re listening to Live Delay.
Hexdebt: HEXDEBT have made a thundering entrance into the Melbourne punk and garage scene since their formation in a Brunswick lounge room in Mid-2016. The lineup consists of Agnes Whalan on vocals and guitar, Isobel D'cruz Barnes on bass and backing vocals, Aife Larkin on guitar and Lucy Fry on drums. Their songs grip a tension between tightly refined technical prowess and chaotic discordance, executing the balance of both with ferocious confidence. This has earned them performance slots at Wetfest, The Bank Records Launch, and supporting all types of punk rock legends around town (PBS FM website, 2017). Recorded at the PBS FM Studio’s in Melbourne on the 14th of December 2017. Engineered by Alicia Saye. The Living Eyes: Geelong locals, The Living Eyes, are a rock band of sorts, blending their own version of melodic power pop and garage. The band started out in their teenage years as a strictly 60’s garage band, playing shows with Geelong friends. Seven years later the boys have grown up a bit and so has their music. Releasing their debut LP in 2013 with Anti Fade followed by a second full-length record, Living Large, in 2015, the quartet are back with their third LP, Modern Living. The new album comes bearing a different sound to the previous two, taking references to artists like The Monochrome Set and The Troggs, but with of course the Australian influence of bands like The Sunnyboys and The Saints (PBS FM website, 2018). Recorded at PBS FM Studios in Melbourne on the 3rd of February 2018. Engineered by Jeremy Smith.

Happy New Year everyone. Love That Album podcast is back again for 2015. We here at LTA headquarters will strive to continue to bring you great music discussion. We start the year off with an episode of LTA: The Compilation Series hosted by Eric Reanimator…..and he’s bringing you a high dose of energetic punk and garage sounds via two fantastic compilations. First of all, Eric discusses an Australian compilation Do The Pop!: The Australian Garage Rock Sound 1976-1987. Eric’s passion for Radio Birdman was the starting point for him picking up on this brilliant 2 CD set, but there’s a treasure trove of material here from the likes of the Hoodoo Gurus, The Eastern Dark, The Saints, The Sunnyboys and a plethora of other bands, mixing and influenced by the punk, garage and pop sounds of the 60s and 70s. This corner of the world was making essential music all northern hemisphere music fans of these genres need to pick up on. [As an adjunct, I’m hoping to get an interview for a future LTA with the man who put this anthology together – stay tuned]. Then, Eric goes to Sweden to tells us about the virtues of A Real Cool Time Revisited: Swedish Punk, Pop and garage Rock 1982-1989. Essentially, the Swedish equivalent of Do The Pop, it features bands like The Nomads, The Crimson Shadows, The Bottle Ups, and The Creeps. Like the Australian bands, the Swedes put out excellent material in a scene worked independently of the Americans and the British. This is another terrific compilation worthy of your attention. Once again, Eric delivers the goods with intelligent music discussion about music you truly need to hear. Listen to the podcast and be convinced.
