What steps should you take if you suspect your identity has been stolen? We are joined by guest Victor Russell, Operations Manager at Apprisen, to explore the pervasive issue of financial scams and how individuals can protect themselves. The discussion covers various scams, primarily targeting seniors, such as the "grandparent scam" where victims are manipulated into sending money continuously until they realize they have been deceived. Another prevalent scam involves romance, where lonely individuals are exploited into giving money, leading to severe financial repercussions like unmanageable debts.Russell underscores the importance of regularly obtaining a credit report to defend against identity theft, given the frequency of database breaches. He recommends using AnnualCreditReport.com to obtain detailed reports from the three major agencies. To add another layer of protection, Russell recommends freezing credit reports, which can prevent unauthorized loans but must be unfrozen before applying for new personal loans.Victor advises against responding to unsolicited digital communications, especially those with suspicious links, as they are often scams. Government agencies like the IRS and the Social Security Administration do not request sensitive information via email or phone. He also stresses the importance of younger individuals being cautious about their online presence, sharing an example involving his daughters and potentially compromising online content. Support this Podcast For those who fall victim to identity theft, Russell outlines a process: contact financial institutions and credit card companies notify the Social Security office file a police report. ftc.gov and the AARP Fraud Watch Line assist identity theft victimsSocial Security Administration and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau also offer support.Apprisen, the organization Russell represents, is a non-profit agency providing a range of financial services for over 70 years, including debt management, credit health education, housing counseling, and assistance with student loan management. Navigating and managing change is key to a collaborative's journey, but it's also one of the most challenging as each partner's relationship, personal history, and ability to participate in change can vary. Differences in how partners navigate change, if not recognized and explored, can make it difficult for the collaborative to achieve meaningful progress towards shared goals. How does one lead and navigate through these varying responses to change? In this new podcast episode, we explore this question and more with Dr. Nicole Caridad Ralston and Ileana Ortiz from the racial equity consulting firm Beloved Community. They have created a curriculum on navigating change, and we discuss the variety of skills needed to both lead and support change efforts, including:Why self-awareness is a critical part of working through change, including understanding one's own history with and gut reaction to changeHow to work through change while centering anti-racism and anti-oppressionWhy it's important to understand that change is both “head work” and “heart work”Why capacity building can be necessary to support your team or collaborative to work through changeResources and FootnotesFull transcript for this episode available at collectiveimpactforum.orgBeloved CommunityBarbara Trautlein – Change IntelligenceWhite Supremacy CultureAnother CIF episode featuring Beloved Community: How Community Leads the Way with Participatory Action Research (PAR)From Dr. Nicole Caridad Ralston, here are some reflection questions for a change management process:How will you free up time and energy to focus on the change process? Where can you delegate projects or shift/share power?Who are the key people who can work with you to facilitate the change process?Who are the key influencers who need to embrace the vision and/or be included in the discussion and planning process? What permissions need to be secured? From whom?Who are the people/groups most affected by the proposed changes? What impact will each face? What can you do to help people embrace the change? How will you strengthen relationships during the change process? From Dr. Nicole Caridad Ralston, here are more commonly used change management frameworks:Lewin's Change Management Model:Main Principles: Lewin's model, based on the Unfreeze, Change, Refreeze stages, emphasizes the importance of addressing psychological resistance to change. The unfreeze stage aims to create awareness and challenge existing mindsets. The change stage introduces new behaviors, and the refreeze stage solidifies the new norm.McKinsey 7-S Model:Main Principles: The 7-S Model focuses on the interconnection of seven elements: Strategy, Structure, Systems, Shared Values, Skills, Style, and Staff. Alignment across these elements is essential for successful change.ADKAR:Main Principles: ADKAR focuses on individual change adoption through stages: Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement. It recognizes the psychological journey individuals undergo during change.Bridges Transition Model:Main Principles: The Bridges Model emphasizes managing emotional transitions during change through stages: Endings, Neutral Zone, and New Beginnings.Kotter's 8-Step Model:Main Principles: Kotter's model outlines eight steps for successful change, emphasizing leadership's role in setting direction, creating urgency, and anchoring changes.More on Collective ImpactInfographic: What is Collective Impact?Resource List: Getting Started in Collective ImpactThe Intro music, entitled “Running,” was composed by Rafael Krux, and can be found here and is licensed under CC: By 4.0.The outro music, entitled “Deliberate Thought,” was composed by Kevin Macleod. Last week, Realtor.com published another version of its ‘‘magic number'' forecast. The number in question is the mortgage rate number low enough to ‘‘unfreeze'' the real estate market. We know that the market has been in something of a gridlock for over a year now: Home prices are very high and keep rising. Mortgage rates are high and aren't showing much of a downward trend. There aren't enough homes to go around, especially those that are remotely affordable. Something has to give. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

#86 This episode of UNFREEZE is SO close to my heart!! We get into the question of what you would do differently if you felt less pressure to look ‘cool' to other people. I explain why we should give ourselves permission to lean into who we are and what makes us happy. Some of the topics I chat through are feeling embarrassed to own your hobbies and/or passions, the desire to come across as spontaneous and avoid looking uptight, forcing ourselves to say yes when deep down we want to say no, not wanting to seem lame, and keeping up appearances. Egg freezing is IVF without the F. You go through a standard cycle of In Vitro Fertilization in which you take hormone shots that stimulate the growth of eggs. A doctor like me then extracts your eggs through a simple surgical procedure, and I work with an embryologist to preserve your eggs in liquid nitrogen until you're ready to use them. So the big question is what happens now that you're ready to use your eggs? In other words, what are the steps towards fertilization (or as I like to say, what the F?) Step 1. Locate Your Eggs Step 2: Decide if you want to unfreeze all your eggs. Step 3. Complete Your Preconception Testing (follow the TUSHY Method) Step 4: Complete Your Infectious Disease Labs Step 5: Implantation Testing Step 6: Make Embryos (and decide if you want to do genetic testing on your embryos) Step 7: Decide Whether You Want to Transfer Fresh or Frozen Embryos Click here to get the full show notes and transcript Would you like to learn about Egg Freezing?Click here to join Dr. Aimee for The Egg Freezing Class. Creating long term success and sustainability in your business can mean being agile. One way you can be agile when experiencing a contraction in business is to create new ways to work with you. This episode builds on from last week when we spoke about thriving in a tricky economy. Before we begin - it's not too late to join Unfreeze + Thrive! We had the first live workshop yesterday and you can receive the Unfreeze recording right away. The Thrive workshop is next week. All details here: http://alignandattract.com/unfreezeToday, we look at how you might approach creating a new offering to solve new problems your clients may be experiencing:1 - Focus on client problems. Always go back to the problems you know you can help with, especially in a trickier economy. Create lists, use the language you're seeing being used, that your clients say to you, try using polls or asking questions on social media2 - What new format makes sense? Start where you are. In person workshop, online low-cost class, shorter session/targeted, intensive, membership, new name for a service3 - You can test the idea - ask clients, ask your subscribers, ask on socials4 - As you prepare, use information from your clients. Do a survey to find out what your clients are experiencing (may be anonymous). Create an intake form for people who sign up using google forms and ask a few questions about what they are experiencing - helps you understand where they're at so you can speak to that, and may give you ideas for other offerings5 - Growth mindset. Dial down the pressure - have a curious approach. Benefits - your own learning and growth, new income streamsI'd love to hear your thoughts over on Instagram: http://instagram.com/kerryrowett

Today we welcome Tara Well, who is an associate professor of psychology at Barnard College of Columbia University where she has taught Personality Psychology, Health Psychology, and Psychology of Leadership for over 20 years. Her research on motivation, perception, and cognition has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). She outlines the research and benefits of her meditation program in her latest book Mirror Meditation. In this episode, I talk to Tara Well about mirror meditation. What is the first thing you think of when you look in the mirror? For a lot of us, our initial instinct is to nitpick at our flaws. Using mirror meditation, Tara teaches people how to use one's reflection to promote self-acceptance and inner knowing. The mirror can help us become kinder not just to ourselves, but to the people around us as well. We also touch on the topics of narcissism, compassion, and attachment.
