Erin Gerner is an attorney-turned-life coach who now has her own practice, Erin Gerner Coaching. She helps female attorneys break out of the toxic legal narrative, redefine success, and build a life and career they love. In her early twenties, Erin landed her dream job at a law firm. However, she soon felt overwhelmed, anxious, and burned out. After seven years of legal experience, she redirected her career path to show others that their jobs are more than working the most billable hours, more than burnout, and more than feeling overwhelmed and overworked. For the past five-plus years, Erin has been diving into her own personal development journey and helping others achieve clarity, awareness, and purpose to live abundant lives. She's been featured in podcasts and publications, including GOSS Magazine, Voyage Dallas, and Influence Digest. In this episode… Overwhelm and burnout are common themes in the legal industry. Lawyers often feel they need to do everything at once, which can be paralyzing and hinder the path forward. What can lawyers do to avoid this overwhelm and gracefully manage the ebbs and flows of the industry? Coach Erin Gerner says that although life in law will always be hectic, the right mindset and tools can mitigate overwhelm and help you thrive in all areas of your life. The first step in this journey is to take intentional action — even if it's just a small step. One exercise Erin suggests is writing out your entire to-do list and choosing your top priorities each week. This way, you can focus on your most value-driven goals without stretching yourself too thin. In this episode of The Lawyer's Edge Podcast, Elise Holtzman is joined by life coach Erin Gerner to talk about actionable steps for avoiding overwhelm and fostering change. Erin shares the four questions to ask yourself when you're feeling overwhelmed, advice for lawyers who are feeling lost or burnt out, and tips to shift your mindset and welcome change. She also speaks on the topic of coaching and how it can keep lawyers accountable to their goals.
Sherwanna Livingston is a brand strategist, digital entrepreneur, mother, speaker and influential leader who brings a fresh approach to bringing brand visions to life. Known as "The Vision Catcher", Sherwanna provides innovative branding and business consulting solutions through her enterprise Live Love Your Passion LLC . Over the course of five years, Sherwanna has been blessed to consult over 100 small businesses nationwide and serve thousands of entrepreneurs in her online community. She's been featured in Digital Journal, FOX, Shoutout DFW, Voyage Dallas, and has also been the guest on several podcasts and live radio shows. Here's what we covered on the episode: How Sherwanna Get Started + Elevating Self-Image Sherwanna shares that she worked in corporate America as a corporate trainer and was laid off while 5 months pregnant The story behind when Sherwanna launched her YouTube Channel in 2018 called, Live Love Your Passion about mindset, personal development, and helping others go after their passion Sherwanna did everything from the graphics to editing for her channel, and soon people began to ask her to help with their brands 2018/2019 was a time when people wanted their Instagram feed to be aesthetically pleasing, so Sherwanna started by doing Instagram makeovers - there wasn't much strategy behind it because people just wanted it to look good Soon, Sherwanna realized her picture-perfect feed and the feeds she was creating for clients didn't reflect their true selves, which is why she doesn't fully believe in doing that anymore Sherwanna likes to dig deep with all clients but especially ones who only care about something looking good - she usually finds that there's a self-image issue Why Sherwanna is going to launch a self-image program that will help people elevate their internal image, show up 100% confidently in themselves, and help bridge the gap between whom they envision themselves being and who they are now Your business and personal brands need to tie together because the vision you have for your business came from you – it starts as a personal vision Sherwanna shares why it's so important for people to know who they are in relation to the thing they are creating We are in a time where you can't just have a logo and a company and no one showing up, interacting as a person for your company What Sherwanna's Business Looks Like + Following Your Visions Sherwanna explains that now her business looks like helping nonprofits/socially responsible organizations and shares how she was able to help Urban Specialists, a local Dallas, TX nonprofit, and UTOPIA Washington, an international nonprofit On the personal side, Sherwanna helps coach small businesses to secure corporate contracts, and she helps coach people on personal branding, which will be her main focus this year How Sherwanna realized there's a big branding gap for most nonprofits because for-profit companies normally have the branding together or even have an internal team to handle it, but nonprofits usually don't, which is why she wants to help them Sherwanna is S/WMBE certified (small business, women-owned business, and minority business enterprise certified) and explains what advantages it has for her business and how it creates stability Government entities and corporations have contracts put aside to work with small businesses, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, etc. Sherwanna's Road to Certified Program helps you certify your business to qualify for grants, corporate, and government contracts One thing Sherwanna wants to step into is UGC (user-generated content) - she shares how she would do that and that she's stepped into the TikTok space With Sherwanna's personal brand, she wants to become more of who she really is – she loves beauty and cooking and wants to show more of that Sherwanna's advice is to not be afraid to do that one thing that you feel called to do – go after your visions and ideas Check out the LLYP Studios Website and connect with her on Instagram or Facebook Links mentioned: LLYP Studios Website LLYP Academy - Road To Certified Connect with Sherwanna on Instagram Connect with Sherwanna on Facebook Like what you heard? Jayne Amelia talks with Sana Latrease Cotten, who was trafficked by her mother and grandmother as a young child, put in foster care and was then adopted but even so never really felt she belonged with her new family. Later, when she learned of her own mother's traumatic past, Sana learned how to forgive her and also to advocate for others in need. "Sana is the Founder of Unashamed, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which fosters emotional health in disadvantaged families that have experienced incarceration, foster care, and teen pregnancy. Despite these early setbacks and emotional traumas in her life, Sana has emerged as a whole woman, unashamed of her past and boldly sharing her story. This episode left me speechless. It is not often I meet someone who's childhood has similarities to mine. Much less someone who is as direct and transparent about the value of having a traumatic childhood , how reframing our conditioned perspective of our painful past is where your power lies and shows our true purpose. My honest no-holds-barred conversation with Chris Allen, CEO & Co-Founder of Advanced Computing and Technology, Athlete, Father, Husband, former prisoner turned Advocate, about his Journey of Reframing Conditioned Views of Male Strength is a game changer. How beautiful for two people who barely know one another to instantly trust & feel safe in sharing their dysfunctional childhood resulting in seeking love in toxic relationships, multiple sex partners, and choices altering our destiny forever. Society tells us that men should be "strong", the head of the family, the one that we can lean on, the one who has all the answers, the one who won't hurt you, the one who will rescue you. Then women, such as myself, become disappointed when men do not live up to this misguided societal conditioning. The purpose of today's episode is to start reframing our misguided conditioned beliefs about male strength. Thank You Chris Allen for trusting the listeners with your story. Thank you for being honest about your own mistakes you made in past relationships. Thank you Chris for being vulnerable. You are a role model in male vulnerability. Chris Allen is a role model in Male Vulnerability. Male Vulnerability is the VERY definition of Male Strength.
