In this episode, Channa Channa Channa talks to Mina Walkure, founder, frontwoman, songwriter of Spanish Traditional Heavy Metal band Kramp. Channa discovered Kramp via YouTube and immediately fell in love with their almost vintage music videos. Mina grew up on almost medieval remote village in Spain and got interested in music early on. Mina discovered metal via internet while sharing music when someone send her Iron Maiden song. With her brother Lap she started Kramp in 2010 and after many line ups, the band released their first EP "Wield Revenge" in 2016. After many lineup changes in between, and with Sara C. on guitars and Albert on drums, it's in 2020 when their debut album is release, entitled “Gods of Death”.Mina influenced by band like Saxon, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest , Manowar always wanted to keep Kramp a Traditional heavy metal band and she have been very successful at it. Check out their music video for their single "Speed of Light” on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4C5QvNSw3s#channa3x #channa3xvlogs #kramp

In a modern town where life functions much like it did in medieval times, students at the Winford Academy are trained to become either knights or begleiters. Knights are honorable and talented warriors who compete in the sport of jousting, and begleiters act as their helper, coach, and training partner. Takahiro is a talented guy whose jousting injury has taken him off the horse and onto the sidelines, but lucky for him, lots of gorgeous female knights are pleading for him to become their begleiter. Thanks to Sithu Aye for letting us use his music for the intro/outro of our show! A great French soprano, who had a sad experience as to possible collaboration with the Nazis during the war, but acquitted.(I have her own words below.). She sings arias from: Tannhauser,Siegfried,Walkure,Tristan und Isolde,Freischutz, Sigurd (Reyer), Tosca, and songs as follows: Chopin: Tristesse Schubert: Erlkonig Faure: Au bord de l'eau Debussy: Beau soir and Je tremble en voyant ton visage. (55 min.) For her part, Lubin denied all ties to Nazi Germany, and grew deeply bitter over her treatment at the hands of the French government. She once said that I have suffered an enormous injustice. They curtailed my career by ten years — my own people! The fact is that I knew some of the Germans when they came to Paris during the occupation. This gave my enemies the chance to satisfy their envy … If I saw the Germans in Paris —and they had been more than kind to me— it was to save my compatriots. It was my way of serving my country at that particular moment. Nobody knows how many prisoners I had released … When I spent three years in prison, they confiscated my château at Tours and my possessions. Did anyone bother to ask me why I did not accept Winifred Wagner's invitations to sing in Germany during the occupation? But my trial was a complete vindication: I was completely cleared. Yes, they gave back most of what they had taken …[5]
A rarity; Mario del Monaco as Siegmund in act one of a Walkure from 1966 under Ferdinand Leitner. The Sieglinde is Hildegard Hillebrecht, and the Hunding is Otto Von Rohr. The sound is on the distant side, but I think it is intersting to hear the great Del Monaco in this opera.( 60 min.)

THE POX and PUSS PODCAST : An Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker Experience
Welcome to a special double episode of the Pox & Puss Podcast! It isn't any longer than the average P&P show...just a little different...you'll see why.Part 1: We're in the kitchen to cook your recommended trail meals! Pox gets in the sauce. More material from the career of 172 year old diva Olive Middleton, the cult figure of the 1960's and star of the (in) famous La Puma Opera Company. After a decent "Pace" from around 1955, Olive sings highlights from Trovatore, Gioconda,Fedora, Norma, Walkure (as Sieglinde) and I just could not resist playing you a "typical" La Puma adventure, the act two opening of Walkure. As I always warn, if you are a purist, do not listen...(I bet you can't resist!!) (36 min.)
The very great mezzo Christa Ludwig in scenes from Parsifal (w.Fritz Uhl and Walter Berry, Vienna 1961 under Von Karajan), Walkure w. James Morris under James Levine, and the marvelous finale of a 1966 Frau Ohne Schatten under Karl Boehm w.Berry,Rysanek, and Dalis. (70 min.)
Stuart Leeks discusses the second part in Wagner's ring cycle with the conductor, and Opera North's Music Director, Richard Farnes.
Act Three of the aforementioned Buenos Aires 1940 Walkure. (57 min.)
A fascinating event, as the great soprano Astrid Varnay makes her Met debut as Sieglinde, replacing Lotte Lehmann, on the Dec.6 Walkure broadcast...her Met debut, (with no rehearsals) AND the first time she EVER sang on ANY stage. This must go down in opera history as one of the great events. In the cast are Lauritz Melchior,Helen Traubel,Friedrich Schorr, and Alexander Kipnis, under Erich Leinsdorf. (68 min.) I must also make mention of Donald Collup, former singer and pianist, who interviewed Mme.Varnay in her later years, and produced a magnificent documentary of her fabulous career. Mr.Collup's fascinating home page can be found at: http://www.collup.com. I must also mention that his remarkable collection can be found at his store at: http://www.collup.com/dczcdz.html.
Only portions of this Walkure from 1960 Buenos Aires under Ferdinand Leitner exist, and nothing of act three, but there are some exciting moments for you to enjoy. The cast includes Martha Moedl, Hans Hotter, Gre Brouwenstijn, and Hans Beirer. (58 min.). As I remarked on my narration, Martha Moedl's "Hojotojo" might be termed "OH LORD!" by most of you;we felt that way in 1957 when we first saw her. However, you know how I am crazy for her, and well...how many singers do we know who "let it all hang out?" The lady is still for me and for so many one of the greatest singers ever..as long as you do not expect an easy top. We could use more singers today with such "abandon." Well, not too much! (Photo:Gre Brouwenstijn.)
From Covent Garden, 1937, a live performance of the third act of Die Walkure under Wilhelm Furtwaengler, featuring Kirsten Flagstad, Maria Muller, and Rudolf Bockelman. (64 glorious minutes)

The Independent's Ed Seckerson discusses the forthcoming year with Opera North's General Director, Richard Mantle and Music Director, Richard Farnes
That great lady, Helen Traubel, in scenes from live performances of Wagner material.Included is a scene from act 3 Walkure with Herbert Janssen from 1944 under George Szell. Then we have some Gotterdamerung scenes under Fritz Stiedry from 1951, with Set Svanholm,Janssen, and Dezso Ernster. This is followed by a Liebestod from San Francisco 1951 under Pierre Monteux. I conclude with the Immolation Scene under Bruno Walter from Hollywood, 1947. (69 min.) I also must mention her enjoyable TV appearances with the beloved Jimmy Durante, a close friend of my mother for many years. How many artists can go from Brunnhilde to Durante???
A fabulous cast in highlights from a Met 1968 Walkure (just released on Sony) under Berislav Klobucar. The cast is: Birgit Nilsson,Leonie Rysanek, Jon Vickers,Thomas Stewart, Christa Ludwig, Karl Ridderbusch. Don't tell me they make them like this anymore!!!!! (72 min.)

In the 1960's, we discovered the great LA PUMA opera co.in New York. We usually had to sit in the back and keep hankies over our faces because we had to try to hold back getting hysterical. They finally threw us out one night. What can I say about this?? I miss it so much...but at least we have our memories. (Did they have DEPENDS at that time??)
A stunning (stereophonic) performance by Kirsten Flagstad(age 56) with Astrid Varnay,Ferdinand Frantz,Blanche Thebom, and Gunther Treptow, conducted by Fritz Stiedry (70 min.)
What more can one say about the legendary soprano Kirsten Flagstad, possessor of one of the greatest natural voices in opera history? Featured are scenes from Tannhauser, Gotterdamerung, Walkure, Parsifal, the World Premiere of the Strauss' Four Last Songs in 1950, and some miscellaneous material as narrated. (74 min.)
