What kind of country allows itself to be invaded? A vast majority of what the federal government does, it should not be doing. It's almost all unconstitutional. But they ignore the constitution and do it anyway. The federal government does have a job that it actually does have to do - protect the border - and it fails miserably at it. Our entire nation suffers as a result. Invaders are now squatters in our houses? That's the severity of the failure that we're now experiencing.

Sarah Tuttle-singer is a writer, author of the book Jerusalem Drawn and Quartered, and works for The Times of Israel. She was born and raised in Venice beach and has lived in Israel for the past 13 years. She now lives in Jerusalem with her kids where she writes stories about people, climbs roofs, and explores the roads not taken…and loves talking with strangers. Sarah is a friend of mine. A mother of two teenagers and a toddler. And she shares her personal story of what it's like living in this nation at war in the wake of the barbaric terrorist attack last weekend by Hamas. We discuss the shock and horror of that attack; the imminent ground invasion of Gaza; the growing humanitarian crisis and the likelihood of mass casualties on both sides; and the dilemma facing Israel as it mobilizes and goes on the offensive to protect itself and its citizens. An inspiring optimist, Sarah offers her thoughts on compassion, empathy and the long-term prospects for peace in the region. And at one chilling point, our chat is interrupted by gunfire and blaring sirens. It's a riveting conversation you don't want to miss. Got somethin' to say?! This has to be one of the most inhuman forms of punishment ever invented and was the most extreme penalty available in English law for those guilty of high treason, which was considered the most serious attack on the monarch's authority. Those who were being punished in this way were seen as sub-human and the dishonour, pain and cruelty that they suffered was meant to create a division between themselves and the audience. The message being that a ‘normal' man would not be made to suffer three deaths. And it was only men that could be put to death in this fashion. It was thought to be too indecent to expose a woman's body in such a way. Therefore, a woman convicted of treason would either be burned at the stake or beheaded. Which on reflection wasn't really that much better.

This week, we are reclaiming the troll! Moe from Troll Teeth is dialing in straight from the New Jersey Pine Barrens and on this year's Pi Day no less. Once determined where they fall on the pie vs. cake debate, Moe gets into how the troll's teeth started growing into a band and up to their latest released, Hanged, Drawn, & Quartered. During this joint Jersey venture, they also follow the Star Trek holistic calendar, figure out the statistical chances of the bass player showing up for practice, bag on The Boss, overthink music way too hard, necropolitics, and offering up their studio to other bands. We know that folks like discussing Successor Chapters and it has been a while since we talked about a fresh batch. In this episode, we chose to use an excessively arbitrary method of picking the chapters for our topic. Oddly enough, this provided some decent contrast in philosophy and combat doctrine. We also discuss how we thought these Chapters would be best represented on the tabletop. Timestamps Intro: 0:00:00 - 0:36:43 Brazen Claws, Angels of Defiance, Howling Griffons: 0:36:43 - 1:35:45 Novamarines, Dark Sons: 1:35:45 - 1:56:08 Outro: 1:56:08 - end
Welcome to Episode 59 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast. Lee, Gordon, and Scott are back to pick over the bones of East Fife's latest loss, the 2-1 defeat at Falkirk. It was a far better performance, and the team even took the lead, but it was a fourth straight defeat and they're now five points adrift at the bottom of the table after just nine games. With East Fife now having played everyone else in the division once, the Scottish League One season is a quarter of the way through, so the lads do a Q1 review, come up a with a list of names to replace Darren Young, if he ever leaves, and the latest 'Let's All Laugh At'.

Dreams of Consciousness Podcast Episode 188 features an interview with Herb Burke of Drawn And Quartered. For nearly three decades, Drawn And Quartered have been flying the flag for putrid death metal. The band never wavered from their style, and amassed a body of work that sounds indifferent to the trends of the larger metal scene throughout that time. I spoke with bassist/vocalist Herb Burke about the early years of Drawn And Quartered, how the band emerged from its previous incarnation as Plague Bearer, and what it was like to play death metal in Seattle during the Nineties. We also discussed Drawn And Quartered's latest album, Congregation Pestilence, and what the "ultimate" Drawn And Quartered album would sound like. My thanks to Herb for speaking with me, and to all of you for listening. The beginning of the madness. Gerald talks about the art of street poetry and his experience reading issue 1 of Drawn & Quartered magazine. J is drunk and K.M. is sober. A strange paradigm of intellectual discussion and slobbering dialect.
Herbert Baumeister seemed to his wife and children to be a regular businessman and they lived together on an 18-acre horse farm called Fox Hollow. But Herb had a secret, and had strangled several men and buried their dead bodies in the woods. You may have heard the expression “hanged, drawn and quartered”. But what is actually done to a person sentenced to this gruesome punishment?

Forepaugh's Restaurant was once housed within the beautiful mansion for which it is named. The restaurant shuttered in March of 2019 after the death of its Executive Chef. Before closing, this was considered one of the most haunted restaurants in Minnesota. There are thought to be at least three spirits in this former home, including the man who had it built. One has to wonder if these ghosts are lonely now. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Forepaugh's Restaurant. Every July 4th we celebrate the United States and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. But amongst the celebrating we tend to forget the risk the 56 signers of the declaration were taking. If captured, they faced a punishment that was considered worse than death. Treason was the worst imaginable crime so the punishment needed to be the worst imaginable death.

Israel's annual observance of Jerusalem Day was a little different this year under COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. So The Times of Israel Podcast decided to mark the national holiday from afar with an in-depth conversation with ToI New Media editor Sarah Tuttle-Singer. Tuttle-Singer lived in all four quarters of the ancient city for over two years, after which she wrote her experiential memoir, "Jerusalem Drawn and Quartered." In a lively conversation with podcast host Amanda Borschel-Dan, Tuttle-Singer servers as a behind-the-scenes guide to the alley ways and rooftops of the Old City. We hear about the best place in the world to purchase take-out humus, and upon which rooftop to eat it. Image: Sarah Tuttle-Singer outside Jerusalem's Old City's Jaffa Gate. (courtesy)

I spoke with guitarist Kelly Kuciemba about the formation of D&Q, his side project Plague Bearer, what keeps him motivated to keep writing killer death metal riffs, how he's doing during the pandemic, plans for the future of the band and much more. Plus this interview features two Drawn and Quartered songs. Horns up!

Our patrons voted for this week’s movie review, and they selected Crawl. This was a movie we let slip by us when it was in theaters. However, now we know, you don’t just slip by gators, they will look for you, they will find you, and they will kill you. Intro - (0:27)Trailer - (7:27) Synopsis - (10:55) Review - (12:01) Score - (16:00) Spoilers - (25:43) Final Recommendations - (53:39) Taglines - (54:54) It Came From Social Media - (1:00:08) Outro - (1:20:50) @dgoebel00 on instagram provided this amazing artwork. Follow him and check out his website. Crawl Trailer https://youtu.be/H6MLJG0RdDE Crawl can is available for rent or purchase on your favorite video platform. Synopsis The movie follows Floridian Haley (Kaya Scodelario), a competitive swimmer that goes to check on her father before a category 5 hurricane hits. She discovers that her father Dave (Barry Pepper) is in the CRAWL space below his house with a broken leg from an alligator attack. She finds out quickly that there are not one, but two hyper-aggressive gators that will stop at nothing to kill them both. What proceeds is a game of gator and mouse where they try to escape the gators in a labyrinthian and increasingly flooded crawlspace. Crawl Poster My Review This movie has a simple set up and delivers exactly what you would want out of it: ridiculous gator action. Before coming to Dave's crawlspace, these gators must have stopped by Tony Montana’s and consumed the mountain of coke on his desk. These gators are ridiculously aggressive. The two main characters are constantly in danger, but are protected by the most powerful substance known to man… plot armor. So for an hour and a half, as we watch them try to outsmart the gators to accomplish the impossible task of… you know crawl a couple feet to the stairs, we are introduced to a steady stream of possible saviors who are immediately attacked and torn apart by ravenous gators. Oil me up daddy, it's dinner time, and I'm a little soup-boy. Chompa. Chompa. I’ve said it before. I’m not a huge fan of monster movies. But I can appreciate the ones that are done well. This is one of those. The situation is creative, the pacing of the plot is great. Even the tension is high throughout the movie because of the rising water. It really is a great device to move the plot forward. There is also a decent amount of character development between Haley and her father. If all that bores you and you are only coming for alligator attacks, you will not be disappointed. Everything from just plain gator bites to being completely drawn and quartered by a congregation of gators is covered. Getting Drawn and Quartered by Gators Overall it’s a really well written and executed creature feature that maintains tension, has the proper amount of ridiculous action, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Score for Crawl 7/10 Crawl (2019)Add Crawl to your collectionBuy on Amazon Spoilers Expand for spoilers The Good CGI The CGI is really good in this movie. The alligators looked very real. The only thing that would tip you off that they are CGI alligators is that there are certain lunges and movements that a real gator couldn't pull off in real life. However, these moments are used to great effect, since there is a shocking and creepy factor that comes with them. Water Induced Tension The water rising as a tension building device is fantastic. It almost acts as a meter for their peril. As the movie goes on, the rate of the water rising increases. By the half point of the film, the crawlspace is about halfway filled with water. As the film speeds towards it's conclusion, the levee breaks, and all of a sudden, the water reaches the second floor in minutes. https://youtu.be/uwiTs60VoTM Character Development I don't expect much from Character development, but this movie checks enough boxes for me to say that it has a decent amount.

According to Liquor.com, the Mojito is the drink bartenders love to hate. It takes too much time to make, it’s a pain to clean up and it’s ordered in quantities far too large by drinkers far too unadventurous. Yet the Mojito remains one of the most popular cocktails, and for a solid reason: It’s a very, very good drink. It deserves to be constructed with respect and care. Mojito Recipe: 2 SPRIGS MINT 2 TEASPOONS SUGAR 1 LIME, QUARTERED 2 OUNCES LIGHT RUM SODA WATER In a Collins glass, add mint sprigs and sugar. Muddle by pressing lightly with a muddler to release oils. Drop in lime quarters and muddle to release juice. Add rum, stir, and add ice. Top with soda water. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lime slice. Leave us some feedback, and share with a pirate or two! Music: Brave Pirates by fri.events Orchestra

For me this story began in Jerusalem on December 11, 1917, but I didn't know it then. On that day, my grandmother Esther, who I'm named for, was one of the flower girls who welcomed General Allenby to the city of Jerusalem, which the British had just won from the Turks. My grandmother was born in Rishon L'Tzion - a little town whose name literally means First to Zion. It was established by Jews from Lithuania who came to what was then Turkish Palestine. A few years later she was one of the flower girls welcoming Allenby. And not long after that, she was on a ship to New York with her younger brother and sister. In New York, Esther met her husband who had also been born in Turkish Palestine and as a teenager wanted to join the British army but was only allowed to be a drummer boy. Eventually he made his way to New York - even after being denied entry the first time. They had two kids and took them on the long voyage back to Palestine to meet the relatives - grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Years later a third child was born, my father, who missed this trip. And many, many years after that, I became the first person in my immediate family to go to Israel when I spent my junior year of college living in Jerusalem. Wow did I love Jerusalem. I mean, really love Jerusalem - and all of Israel. And I miss it every day. Which is why, when I got the opportunity to read the new memoir Jerusalem, Drawn and Quartered, I really identified with the first line of the book: "This is a love story." The author, Sarah Tuttle Singer, and I talked about the complexities and the layers of Jerusalem, and about her experience living in four quarters of the Old City last year. I highly recommend getting a copy of her book, which is available in stores and on Amazon at http://bit.ly/JerusalemDrawnQuartered If you're not yet subscribed to the Out-of-the-Box Judaism podcast, I encourage you to do so now so you don't miss an episode. Jerusalem. A powerful city. So powerful that we recall it when we take the oath of matrimony, on every holiday and with it we seal our national anthem. But it also has the power to divide, to tear apart families, to bring nations to wage war against one another. Jerusalem isn't only a city. It's a stoney ocean of history, of reincarnations, of dreams and of destruction, layer upon layer. All of that, and more, is encapsulated in one new book, beautifully titled “Jerusalem: Drawn and Quartered”. This book was written by none other than Sarah Tuttle-Singer, and it depicts a year in her life, a year in which she dwelt between those ancient walls, met with the inhabitants of the old city, conversed with them, and immersed herself in Holy City. But the book also tells Sarah's life story, a story of much love and passion, but also tragedy. Sarah Tuttle-Singer is probably one of the more influential Israeli Americans living here. She writes for the Times of Israel, she's a social media sensation, and her name is extremely well known both in the local English speaking community, as well as in the international Jewish community. Sarah joins us today to talk about her life, and her exciting debut book.
There’s a forgotten Amendment in the Bill of Rights. But, we should talk about it anyway.

And now, I present your host. The weapon we're talking about in this episode is probably the most ubiquitous of the Clue weapons.
