When his dad died, his mom moved them to a housing project in Illinois where they scraped together barely enough to get by. Danny met God at a church revival and gave His life to the Lord at the age of 12. At the same time, he swore he would never be poor again. This led him to start businesses first a tavern, then a gym, and eventually more and more projects. He was successful in these ventures and enjoyed partying with his newfound fortune. Alcohol led to cocaine and cocaine led to crack. When Danny started dealing, he was eventually arrested. In prison, he asks God for forgiveness and starts on a path towards restoration.
Things are getting curiouser and curiouser in the town of Lynneville: sick pets, mysterious caverns opening up in the ground... And though Danny is now the coolest kid in school, his deal with the Devil hasn’t brought all of his dreams to fruition, especially where his crush is concerned. When Danny starts to exhibit some extra strange behavior, conflict builds between he and Jake.
[Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised. For most readers there are usually multiple authors that you have to rush out and complete your collection for. When Danny was just finding his way through his own fantasy tastes he ran into such an author. It's been a while since he read any of her work but he was anticipating the journey that he hoped would match the same he had the first time he read her work. He was wrong. However, sometimes that is to be expected when you set expectations so high. On today's episode follow Danny's journey as he shares his first experience with Madam Glenda Larke, and why this particular trilogy, or at least the first book in said trilogy, was overall a disappointment. Danny argues how the characters fail, and how the incredible islander setting ended up hurting the plot. He also compares it to her first trilogy and where he thinks she lost the flare that she had previously. That said, there are still plenty of positives within and he makes sure to point those out as well. Come listen and experience the complication of expectations in literature. ~Follow all the Legionaries on Twitter~ Danny: twitter.com/legionsarchive The Tsar: twitter.com/TsarAlexander6 Allen: twitter.com/blkydpease Spangar: twitter.com/LSFspangar ~Credits~ Original Soundcloud image prodivided by Glenda's website at: https://glendalarke.com/the-forsaken-lands/the-lascars-dagger/ Original image owned by Glenda Larke, Orbit, and Hachette books. Dennis is joined via Zoom by writer-performer-drag legend Jackie Beat to talk about Sunday's Zoom event 'WHO'S DA BOSS? THE LOST TAPES'...a loving homage to the classic sitcom Who's the Boss? Halfway through the chat, Dennis and Jackie are joined by actor Danny Pintauro who played Jonathan Bower on the original Who's the Boss? and reprises his role in this stage / Zoom version. Jackie talks about finding ways to stay sane, creative and make money during the pandemic, having plastic surgery on his neck during lockdown and what he hooks into when playing Angela, Judith Light's character on Who's Da Boss? When Danny joins, he talks about what appealed to him about doing the stage show, coming out in The Enquirer, calling Judith Light right after coming out, overcoming the demons of child stardom and coming out happy on the other side. Other topics include: Joan Rivers memories, the upside of doing online shows, doing personalized videos on Cameo, Stanford pride, love of animals, what's cool about Austin, TX, a possible Who's the Boss? reboot, how the world has changed for LGBT actors since the Who's the Boss? days, his friendship with Alyssa Milano, finding love through Tupperware, how drag's place in the gay entertainment hierarchy has changed in the last decade and Tony Danza's sweatpants obsession. https://whosdaboss.live

Shel Silverstein - Boy Named Sue (1969) Silverstein introduced it to Johnny Cash at what they used to call a "guitar pull," where musicians would pass a guitar around and play their songs. He was the main songwriter for Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, and he wrote "The Giving Tree". Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds - Ain't No Woman Like The One I Got (1972) From Discogs: Hallway Symphony was the second studio album of the band Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, released in 1972. It was their final album for the Dunhill label. That same year, Tommy Reynolds quit the group to form a band called Shango; different session musicians took his place in their touring and recording before Alan Dennison replaced him permanently a year later (but the band kept their original name of "Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds"). In 1973, the band was dropped from Dunhill due to lack of chart success, but they continued touring and performing live in Las Vegas and various colleges, thanks to the continuing radio play of their huge hit "Don't Pull Your Love." The guys who wrote this also smeared their scent on AM radio thusly: "One Tin Soldier" (1971) The Original Caste, (1973) Coven "Don't Pull Your Love" (1971), Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds "Two Divided by Love" (1971), The Grass Roots "Are You Man Enough" (1973), Four Tops (From Shaft in Africa) "Country Boy (You Got Your Feet in L.A.)" (1975), Glen Campbell "It Only Takes a Minute" (1975), Tavares "Nightshift" (1985), Commodores "We Built This City" (1985), Starship Yes, do tell your friends that they recorded "Falling In Love" on Playboy Records, the only #1 for that label. Peter, Paul, and Mary - And When I Die (1966) Family Dogg - Arizona (1969) This would be a big solo hit for Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders, who I like. The fellow who wrote this, Kenny Young, also wrote "Under The Boardwalk" by The Drifters. Johnny Madara & the Juvenaires - Do The Bop (1957) When Danny & the Juniors were still called The Juvenairs. Initially called "Do the Bop", the song was heard by Dick Clark, who suggested they change the band name to the Juniors and the chorus from "Let's all do the Bop" to "Let's go to the Hop". After performing the song on Clark's show American Bandstand, it gained popularity and went to the top of the US charts, remaining at number one for five weeks. Connie Stevens - Keep Growing Strong (Betcha By Golly Wow) (1970) You couldn't watch TV without seeing Connie Stevens in the '70s. It's strange that such a scattershot discography (she recorded mostly in the early '60s) should feature such a great song. In fact, I don't see mention of it at all on her website, which, I'm sure was last updated years ago. Her daughter Joely was on Ellen (the show, not the woman) and keeps plugging away. Like you and me. Johnny Rivers - By The Time I Get to Phoenix (1965) Petula Clark - Call Me (1965) David Martin - Can't Smile Without You (1975) Gator Creek - Danny’s Song (1970) Anne Murray turned this into a hit a few years later. This song was written by the fella that sang "Footloose" and duetted with Stevie Nicks on "Whenever I Call You Friend". Gator Creek included Michael Omartian, who went on to produce Christopher Cross, Whitney Houston, and Michael Bolton. So...thanks? PJ Proby - Delilah (1967) Shorty Long - Devil With The Blue Dress On (1964) From that Wikipedia: Long's biggest hit was "Here Comes the Judge" which in July 1968 reached No. 4 on the R&B charts and No. 8 eight on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was inspired by a comic act on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In about a judge by Pigmeat Markham, whose own "Here Comes the Judge" – a similar song with different lyrics – charted three weeks after Long's, also in July 1968, and reached No. 19 on Billboard. Long was the only Motown artist besides Smokey Robinson who was allowed to produce his own recordings in the 1960s. Marvin Gaye, in David Ritz's biography Divided Soul: The Life & Times of Marvin Gaye, described Shorty Long as "this beautiful cat who had two hits, and then got ignored by Motown." Gaye claimed he "fought for guys like Shorty" while at Motown, since no one ever pushed for these artists. When Holland-Dozier-Holland came to Gaye with a tune, he stated, "Why are you going to produce me? Why don't you produce Shorty Long?" On June 29, 1969, Long and a friend drowned when their boat crashed on the Detroit River in Michigan. Stevie Wonder played the harmonica at his burial and placed it on his casket afterward. Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In inspired many, many records. One by Freddie Cannon. It's shit. Most of them are. The Greenbriar Boys - Different Drum (1966) Great song? Meh. Rhymes "knock it" with "market". Larry Williams - Dizzy Miss Lizzy (1958) The Exciters - Doo Wah Diddy (1963) Best known for their hit single, "Tell Him" which reached #4 on the US charts in February 1963. Thelma Houston - Do You Know Where You're Going To (1973) This was made into a monster hit as "Love Theme From 'Mahogany'" by Diana Ross in 1975. I guess anything can be a "love theme". These are the lyrics to the version everyone knows: Once we were standing still in time,Chasing the fantasies that filled our minds. And you knew how I loved you but my spirit was free,Laughing at the questions that you once asked of me..... Now looking back at all we planned,We let so many dreams just slip through our hands. Why must we wait so long before we seeHow sad the answers to those questions can be? And here are the previous, somewhat inscrutable lyrics sung by Thelma Houston: Sometimes, while standing still in time,You think you leave the thoughts that filled your minds. Now we've both been to Stoney Brook, just hanging out, We've had a look and seen what nothing's about..... Now, what am I to say to you? What kind of prayer am I to pray for you?I can only do my best and tell ya what I see,And if you see the rest, please send it to me... The Moments - We Don't Cry Out Loud (1976) Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes - Don't Leave Me This Way (1975) This was made into a monster hit by Thelma Houston in 1976. No matter which version you listen to, if that chorus doesn't make you move and smile, I can't help you. The Raindrops - Hanky Panky (1963) The Raindrops were an American pop studio group from New York, associated with the Brill Building style of 1960s pop. The group existed from 1963 to 1965 and consisted of Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry who were also both famous songwriters. The Dells - Higher and Higher (1967) Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - I Heard It Thru The Grapevine (1966) The Captain and Tennille - I Write The Songs (1975) Helen Shapiro - It’s My Party (1963) Richard Kerr - I’ll Never Love This Way Again (1978) Richard Kerr is an English composer, who co-wrote "Mandy", "Looks Like We Made It" and "Somewhere in the Night" (all of which became hit singles for Barry Manilow) and "I'll Never Love This Way Again", for Dionne Warwick. Paul Revere and the Raiders - (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone (1966) Fans consider this the apex of the Revere canon, but I prefer the crazy, desperate intensity of Collage. Still, good, beat-heavy set anchored by "Kicks" and this. Gene Cotton - Let Your Love Flow (1975) Neil Sedaka - Love Will Keep Us Together (1973) The original version is pretty good, with some of the electric and unique magic of the Captain and Tennile version that dominated the charts in 1975. I know POACA will not agree, but if you could disassociate the treacly image of these married session players and their TV show, it was an incredible song. And this version was recorded at Strawberry Studios in collaboration with Graham Gouldman, Lol Creme, Kevin Godley, and Eric Stewart, who had formed the band 10cc since their first joint venture with Sedaka on Solitaire. "...in association with 10C.C." Roger Miller - Me and Bobby McGee (1969) Racey - Kitty (1979) The Ever-Green Blues - Midnight Confessions (1967) The Brothers Four - Mr. Tambourine Man (1965)

Join us for this sound-led episode of Braided. The producers turn their microphones on the foregrounds and backgrounds of their lives, from purring kittens and lighting, to British cooking shows, and a featured sonic outing by musician Danny Hillyer. When Danny begins creating an original track, he often starts with a single element. It might be a looping guitar riff, an individual sound effect, or a driving drum pattern. The layers build from there, and eventually, the track’s mood reveals itself. In the case of A Tension and the Talisman, though, Danny’s eight-minute sound-piece, it began, instead, with a mood. Specifically, panic. Feeling intense anxiety one evening, Danny decided to go out for a walk along a nearby creek. By the time he returned home in the early hours of the morning, his mental state had shifted. In the three-part structure of the piece, Danny tracks the three stages of nights like those: the panic that leads him outdoors; the moment of peace when beginning the walk, and the elevated mood by the time he returns home: ‘the clearing of the mind’. The walk, Danny says, ‘has an effect like a talisman of sorts’. Over reverb-soaked guitars, electric buzzing, synths and programmed beats, we hear sounds recorded in the surroundings of the creek near Danny’s home in the early hours of the morning. Music and sound design meld to evoke the physical and emotional landscapes he traverses on those nights. The piece takes us out, and brings us home. Finally, listen in to the latest of Reggie’s ‘updates’, as they let us in on the inner sanctum of their dietary world. Credits: Produced by Danny Hillyer with soundscapes by Kim Handley, Georgia Wilmott (spelling) and Elijah Augustine?

This week Katherine and Paul welcome the incredible social geographer Danny Dorling. Join us as we don our breathing apparatus and dive deep, deep down into all sorts of topics including the British Empire, inequality, brexit and pandemics.Danny’s huge brain is our guide in contemplating a more honest understanding of Britain's history and position in the world. He challenges us to confront why we, as a country, often think we’re somehow special and different to other countries. When Danny spoke at Greenbelt last year, he spoke about Brexit. We managed to catch up with him in June to talk about all the latest B-word antics, as well as the odds on a second lockdown. How do you approach your decisions about money in your marriage? Do you feel insecure? Get defensive? Do you just defer to the one making the money to make the “big” money decisions? This comes up for people all the time in our conversations with them. When Danny stopped working for a time, and Lindsay began working, it felt like our world got turned upside down. It was challenging. There were doubts, insecurities, friction to be worked through. You don’t need your circumstances to become drastic or dire to learn these valuable lessons from our experience. You may able to relate to the unhelpful thinking patterns we discovered during this time. Why we struggle having conversations about money or making decisions about money as a couple? Some helpful strategies. Some alternative ways to think about it without limiting yourself. What it means to be a provider and why this is so important. How going to bat for yourself can actually help your loved one and your relationship. A funny example. Danny Koentopp wakes up every morning, gets dressed, has a bite to eat, kisses his wife and kids, and heads off to a garage in LA, often not coming out until long after the sun has set. For Danny, this garage is a creative temple. An innovative workshop, where he spends his days handcrafting some of the most breathtakingly-beautiful and sought after archtop acoustic jazz guitars and hollow-body electric guitars on the planet. He literally loses time there. But, his story runs deeper than a devotion to craft and music, family and mastery. When Danny steps into his workshop, he's not alone. He built his first guitar side-by-side with his dad in a home workshop. Danny's father passed-on shortly after, but he inhabits this little oasis, guiding and inspiring Danny along the way. [Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised. When Danny needs a little help he can usually rely on the scattered mind of Allen Clusive. When pondering on what to cover for this general episode Danny reached out to his co-host and was instantly met with a plethora of idea surrounding the transformation of entertainment media. Bringing back a faithful style, Danny and Allen discuss three media topics and give out a list of things they would like to see for each - somehow all three were positive topics this time, too. Deep conversation, plenty of horrible puns, this general episode goes beyond the page and gives a peek behind the curtain into the buddies list of favorites. If you are anything like me - you’ve struggled with how to deal with your inner critic over the years. There are a few things that have helped me deal with my inner critic, but I am always excited to hear what my peers have done to address this common issue in the art community. Here to share his unique and valuable perspective is the artist - Danny Gregory. Danny is an artist, and he has written nearly a dozen internationally best-selling books on art and creativity. He is also the co-founder of Sketchbook Skool with tens of thousands of students worldwide. In our conversation, Danny opens up about how he got started as an artist, why he loves working on “Zines,” how he deals with his inner critic, what it takes to stay creative, and much more. I know you’ll get a ton of benefit from Danny’s thoughtful perspective. Find your people! If you’ve been around the Savvy Painter community for any stretch of time, you know that I am passionate about encouraging artists like you to find your people. Let’s face it - life as an artist can be a lonely existence - but it doesn’t have to be! Even back in the ’90s, artists like Danny Gregory found a way to connect with peers who would encourage and challenge them in their creative pursuits. Discovering an artist from eastern Oregon by flipping through a “Zine” at Tower Records in New York City changed Danny’s life. He quickly befriended this artist via correspondence, and the two went on many trips together. Have you found your people yet? Why “Zines” are so appealing Speaking of “Zines,” have you ever encountered one before? When Danny mentioned reading zines in Tower Records back in the 90’s I had a total flashback to my college years. For my millennial followers - zines or fanzines are publications produced by enthusiasts of a particular niche interest. Traditionally, zines are circulated free of charge, or for a nominal cost to defray postage or production expenses. There are so many amazing things you can do with the zine medium - and according to Danny, they are starting to make a comeback! Nurturing a creative focus A few years ago, Danny wrote a book called “Art Before Breakfast.” I love that title by the way! His book explored several small ways he incorporated his drive for creativity each day. From keeping a sketchbook next to the kettle in the kitchen to sketching an image while waiting for his wife to finish shopping - there are a ton of helpful ideas that artists like you can use. At the heart of Danny’s message is this - you can fit creativity and art making throughout your day if you just redefine what that means. For many of you - Danny’s approach will be a bit of stretch - after all, we are conditioned to think of “Art-making” as a structured and specific time we set aside. Dealing with the inner critic Another book Danny wrote is called, “Shut Your Monkey: How to Control Your Inner Critic.” In this book, Danny explains how he’s dealt with and learned to live with his inner critic. Do you still struggle with silencing your inner critic? If so - I can’t recommend Danny’s book enough! He dove deep into where the inner critic comes from in our minds and how to better understand it. Danny discovered that the voice of the inner critic actually is there to protect us from making risky decisions - which is great when it comes to danger - not so great when it comes to creating art. Make sure to check out the links to Danny’s website and his books in the resources section - I know that many of you will find them helpful! Hey Tanner Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh My Lanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast Hey Tanner Fans, Today, I covered Full House S3E11: Aftershocks, which aired on December 8, 1989. In this episode an earthquake hits the Tanner home and Stephanie is struggling with the constant fear of losing her father. I’m going to be honest, this episode is not your usual light and fluffy fun Full House Episode, the episode focuses on one of the main character’s of the show, middle child 8 year old Stephanie played by Jodie Sweetin who is suffering from PTSD due a recent earthquake. This is a side of Stephanie we have never seen before. While everyone else has moved on from this event Stephanie can’t move forward, living with the day to day constant fear of losing her father. This was all set in motion when Danny was 3 hours late the day of the earthquake and the family was unable to get a hold of him. Stephanie begins to follow her father around the house, sleeping in his bed so she can make sure he’s ok and knowing where he is at all times, she asks to come to work with him and when he refuses, she invites him to school. Jesse and Joey voice their concerns of Steph’s clinginess to Danny who brushes it off and chalks it up to simple adoration. When Danny has to leave the house to go to a no kids allowed work dinner Stephanie breaks down begging Danny not to leave. Now he is faced with the fact that something is seriously wrong with Stephanie. Joey and Jesse tell Danny this problem with Stephanie is not going away and it’s getting worse, he needs to seek professional help. I understand Danny’s hesitation, admitting outside help for him probably makes him feel like he’s failing as a father. Luckily, a child psychologist is able to help diagnose Stephanie’s fears through a family picture Stephanie drew and they put together a list of how to cope and move forward in the healing process. I feel Stephanie’s fear of losing Danny also stems from the fact that she lost her mother. The only piece of info we have from that day is in an episode of Fuller House where DJ mentions that Stephanie hid in her room and refused to come out when she learned of Pan’s death. I wanted to cover this episode, because of what’s currently going on in California, and the effects that earthquakes can have on people. The physical and the mental aspects. We all handle trauma in our own way. PTSD is real. You can’t run from it and you can’t deny it. Jodie Sweetin knocked it out of the park with her acting. My heart goes out to you California. Have a great week everyone and be safe!

Well, that was aggy, wasn’t it?! The dumping has definitely divided the villa…Kem and Arielle are joined by presenter Becca Dudley with a special visit from Elma who has whizzed back from the Island to debrief after that tumultuous night of villa action. When Danny and Arabella cracked on, the OG girls kicked off. It looked like things were patched up but with a very spicy challenge looming, things probably aren't going to stay happy for long.Tom told Jordan that all of his boxes aren't being ticked. But don't worry, there's still one happy couple in the villa - CURTIS AND TOMMY! That was a very cute kiss, have they taken the bromance to the next level? You know when you're walking through the airport wearing a CrossFit shirt and you see someone else in a CrossFit shirt? Or when you're going about your business at the grocery store wearing a Morbid Angel shirt, and someone down the aisle has an Incantation shirt on? Well, maybe you don't know that feeling of t-shirt related camaraderie and acknowledgement, but rest assured that I do. As we discuss in this interview, Danny and I are often the two guys at CrossFit related events wearing punk or metal apparel. When Danny told me that he liked my podcast, I was thrilled because if one of the only other people who owns a CrossFit gym in a major urban environment who grew up playing in bands in a DIY punk and hardcore scene didn't like my podcast...well then I don't know what the hell I'm even doing. Danny Veiga wasn’t always sure what he wanted to do for a living, but he knew he wanted to work for himself. He went from being a self-declared job junkie, working 22 jobs between the ages of 16 - 22, to now running his own agency and helping others through a series of courses and coaching. Learning from Experiences Danny tried his hand at a variety of work-from-home jobs and began to pick up freelance web design jobs. He didn’t always enjoy the work, but he gained lots of valuable experience, and the exposure these jobs gave him has served him well with his own business. Finding the Reward in Risk A series of family setbacks and a couple of cross-country moves caused Danny to lose all his clients on more than one occasion. However, he hustled and worked and always rebuilt. When Danny realized it was time for a change, he took the arguably risky move of dropping his clients to start over. “Most people don’t want to take those risks, but those risks are going to allow you to propel your business in whatever direction you want to go,” says Danny. Enjoying the Entrepreneur Hustle Danny quit web design and started diving into Facebook ads and Internet marketing. When people began asking questions and wanted to learn more, he started a group, and it grew over time. These days, Danny is running a successful agency, offering courses and coaching. Navigating the Valley Danny refers to the low moments when he lost clients and had nothing, as his valley moments. Every time he encountered a setback, he worked and hustled and rebuilt his client base or launched a new career. Danny explains, “It was a risk I was willing to take, and it’s really been the best decision I have ever made. Really, just to follow what I envisioned for the future of my family.” Get Connected Visit Danny’s site or get in touch through email or Facebook. Boomer Boulevard with Bob Bro Old Time Radio & Nostalgia Podcast Show #119-B --- May 14, 2018 Welcome to Boomer Boulevard --- Memory Lane for Baby Boomers, but everyone is welcome! Join us for a nostalgic listen to the following old time radio shows: 1. THE HALLS OF IVY 2-17-50 "The Chinese Student" This episode addresses ethnic bias in an excellent story. Dr. Hall becomes concerned when a female Chinese student leaves Ivy College due to racial prejudice. The very moving speech he gives in the Ivy Chapel about both brotherhood and tolerance will cause a bubble in your throat and a tear in your eye. The Halls of Ivy truly was a show before its time. 2. THE WHISTLER 8-25-49 "The Eager Pigeon" Jack Webb stars as con-man Danny Fort, a character quite unlike Sergeant Joe Friday. While working a cocktail bar in a less fancy part of town, Danny knows he can't afford to be choosy. But even though his luck is running cold, he always dresses like a winner -- aware his appearance may open up opportunities. When he first sees her sitting alone at the bar looking both beautiful and out of place, it peaks his curiosity. When Danny picks up his drink and goes over to her, he never imagines it will lead to blackmail -- and murder! 3. GUNSMOKE 4-30-55 "Reward for Matt" A very thought provoking episode in high quality sound. When Matt is forced to shoot a local rancher, the dead man's widow puts a reward on Dillon's head. Soon there are a number of attempts on Matt's life. When one attempt ends in a tragedy, however, the story takes a very touching turn. Listen to how really good both Helen Kleeb and Jeanette Nolan are as the two grieving women in the story. Both give outstanding performances. Stage One Startup: Interviews with Influential Entrepreneurs & Innovative Startups
This week's Teacher; Danny Buck We have yet another essential startup lesson for you today. If you're sitting there complaining how hard it is to build your side hustle whilst working a full-time job then this lesson is the one for you. Danny is the perfect person for this, we were astonished by the amount that this guy has achieved in such a short space of time. When Danny was 22 he started a marketing agency and grew it to be one of the largest marketing agencies in Europe. But after building a scaling it, he began to start feeling bored of the same thing day in and day out. Danny is now the CEO & Founder of CIRCULR Watches With that boredom to add fuel to his fire, he left and began starting up his own e-commerce brands. From there, the rest was history. He left a multi-million-pound business to go back into the startup phase, simply because it is the most exciting phase of building a business. This vlog, Danny talks about how important it is for you to do what needs to be done for your business even if you’re afraid. Don’t forget, all of the vlog episodes (and more) are available on the FlippingJunkie YouTube channel at http://youtube.com/FlippingJunkie Making big steps is scary for just about everyone. When Danny was working on getting his pilot’s license, he would stop in the parking lot and think about two things: how exciting flying is, but also how dangerous it is. Even though learning was a lot of fun, there was still that risk involved. The same is true for running your own real estate investing business. Especially when you’re getting started. When Danny and Melissa first started buying and selling houses and the first call came in he was so nervous to talk to the motivated seller that he threw the phone at Melissa so she would talk to them! And while that was scary, the reward to going through with the lead was bigger than any nerves they had. So that’s the takeaway from this vlog. Knowing that being afraid is ok, but pushing past that to get to the good stuff is even better! This vlog, Danny talks about the beginnings of his house flipping business, and the learning curves it took to get the hang of it. Don’t forget, all of the vlog episodes (and more) are available on the FlippingJunkie YouTube channel at http://youtube.com/FlippingJunkie Learning what to do to run your business the right way takes time, but mostly trial and error. There is a huge difference between running your business and working in your business, and what it takes to be the pilot instead of the crew. So here’s a story. When Danny first started rehabbing houses, he showed up to his first demo site the day before to get it prepped. He went and personally started taking nails out of the walls so that the sheetrock could be laid properly, thinking he was doing a great job and showing that he has what it takes to be an investor. And then his mentor showed up, mad. He started telling Danny that it’s not his job to be taking nails out of the wall. Not because he was somehow better, but because he was supposed to be running the business and not working in it. The takeaway is that as an investor you shouldn’t be swinging the hammers. It’s your job to work on your business, not IN your business - that’s what it means to be a Flip Pilot! About Danny Robertson Danny Robertson is a climber who lives in Carbondale, Colorado on the Western Slope. He's a 41-year-old Rifle regular who's been climbing for about 15 years. He's a full-time 7th-grade teacher, so he has summers off with his wife Wendy, who's also a teacher. This affords them some great climbing trips and projecting time. Danny and Wendy have been listening to the podcast for a while, and they told me a few times when I saw them that they'd changed their training practices based off of what they'd learned from the podcast. When Danny sent his gnarly 3-year project, The Crew (5.14c), this fall, I decided I needed to know his secrets. Prior to that he'd done a bunch of 14a's, and he considered himself to be sort of stuck at that level for about 10 years. After changing his training, he was doing 14a's and b's much more quickly than ever, and ultimately sent his mega project, The Crew. Read the Book: Peter Boghossian: 'A Manual for Creating Atheists' http://tinyurl.com/SE-PB-AMFCA Playlist of Danny http://tinyurl.com/PL-AM-SE-DANNY I unexpectedly ran into Danny again after just arriving to the trail. My equipment was not fully setup, and I was not intending to even formally interview Danny again, but before long it was clear that we were engaged in a friendly conversation about a variety of topics. You many notice that I deviated from SE many times during this talk, because I ended up telling Danny many things about my position on atheism and many other topics. Like Dr. Peter Boghossian has said, it''s important to adapt and meet people where they are at. Danny appeared to be ready for my views, so I decided to share those with him here. I also think many others can learn more about my motivations, positions, and goals when I conduct SE when they watch this encounter. I chose to not raise the camera all the way and instead keep our silhouettes in frame for the majority of the conversation, as many people have asked to see my body language during my talks. Danny is an intriguing individual and extremely honest with himself. Please let him know that there is a supportive, loving community waiting for people who are ready to discard their unsupported supernatural beliefs. Dedicated to Olivia and the next generation of Street Epistemology practitioners like her. Music: 'Close My Mouth' by Silent Partner provided by YouTube. Music provided by Chet Hovatter. Mistakes: It wasn't a hill or goat, but a mountain and a lamb. I probably shouldn't have laughed about the brutal comments people have left on Caleb's video. Caleb seems like a decent man who is simply very passionate about his beliefs. I'm fairly confident that deep down he is worried about non-believers and wants to help people. I should have asked Danny if he was holding a belief in prayer without evidence, in much the same way Caleb did not have evidence to support his beliefs. Perhaps next time. When Danny asked what I got out of doing these talks, I responded with what motivates me. Danny Peña got his first video game console from his Grandmother and his life was forever changed. Little did Danny know (who goes by the name of Godfree on his show) that he would someday be getting paid to fly around the world and play video games on his podcast Gamertag Radio. Did he think he would end up working for CBS and be featured next to podcasts like 60 minutes on play.it? Probably not. Today you will learn how Danny started building his audience before there was podcasting. Danny continued building his audience before there was iTunes. Through everything he does, Danny cares about one thing: the audience. There are sooooooo many lessons to be learned today. Interview starts at 3:38 Free Doesn't Last: Danny got his first check from mp3.com a site that was "Too big to fail" just like MySpace (and who knows some day Facebook?). The party of the year took a year of planning: You don't get these kind of results by "winging it." Check out this video of the party and you can read how the Miami New Times called it the Best Super Bowl party in South FL. Know more about your audience than their age and sex: Danny brought in musicians who his audience liked. The musicians brought in their audience who probably liked to play games. Be straight with your audience: Any perks Danny and his crew have received has always been communicated to their audience. TRUST is everything: It takes a long time to earn it. It's very powerful, and can be lost with one bad decision. Let your audience be part of your journey: Anywhere Danny goes he invites his audience to come along. Ten years to get on CBS Radio: Patience ins a virtue, and it took Danny 10 years to get to where he is. He took advantage of every opportunity he saw. Time Management Tips: Set a schedule and stick to it. Danny has a full time job, a girlfriend, and his podcast. Having the right people on your team is essential and keep everything transparent so you are all on the same page. Danny is real. When Danny says, that's a good question, that's because its a good question. Some people on my show do it just to stroke my ego. Your Stupid Minds returns from a brief hiatus to provide yet another Cannon Group/Golan-Globus movie, this time riding the coattails of the sensational news story of the Legion of Doom vigilante group at R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth. Dangerously Close was the low-budget theatrical version released one week before the made-for-TV movie of the same subject, The Brotherhood of Justice, starring future heartthrobs Keanu Reeves, Kiefer Sutherland, Lori Loughlin, and Billy Zane. Dangerously Close stars no one, unless you count John Stockwell (future director of In the Blood), and Michelle Pfeiffer’s sister. At a high school presumably in Southern California, a student organization called “The Sentinels” cleans up the school through education, regular hallway patrols, and targeting people they don’t like and pretending to murder them. When one of their victims ends up actually murdered, high school newspaper editor and goody-two-shoes Danny (J. Eddie Peck) investigates. When Danny’s pudgy annoying punk friend Krooger (Bradford Bancroft) goes missing, Danny decides to expose The Sentinels for the murderous terrorist organization it truly is.
