Studio Soundtracks takes listeners behind the scenes of how music is crafted for film and television by hearing directly from composers, songwriters and music professionals in the Entertainment Industry. Listen to inspiring conversations about composition and hear works from Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar-winning film scores on the show. On this month's episode of Studio Soundtracks, host Chandler Poling is joined by guests Trygge Toven and Adam Blackstone. TRYGGE TOVEN Trygge Toven is a highly sought-after Emmy nominated music supervisor who has shaped the musical identity of some of Hollywood's biggest films, including Netflix's Dolemite Is My Name! and Always Be My Maybe, Michael Bay's 6 Underground, the Paramount box office hit Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, and oversaw the music for the acclaimed Knives Out. Most recently, Trygge collaborated with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy on Amazon's critically acclaimed series Fallout. His exceptional work on the show has earned him an Emmy nomination for music supervision. Toven also lends his services to a number of high-profile television series, including HBO's critically acclaimed series, Westworld, Dwayne Johnson's hit series, Young Rock, and Marvel series Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston. In addition to supervision, Toven served as music producer for The Marvels and on David O. Russell's Amsterdam. ADAM BLACKSTONE On TV, radio or at a live concert at your favorite stadium, the Adam Blackstone sound has certainly permeated your eardrums. This year Adam is nominated for the Outstanding Music Direction Category for 2023 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony. He has served as the Musical Director for acts such as Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, recently cultivated the explosive, Emmy-nominated Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show featuring Dr Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dog & Mary J Blige. With each new endeavor, the artists he works with become family and fall in love with Blackstone's easy demeanor and standard for excellence. Blackstone's TV legacy continues to expand as Music Director and On-screen personality. His expertise has shaped today's biggest shows including NBC's “The Voice,” the Grammy Awards, numerous BET, VH1 and MTV specials and as the Music Director for the hit Fox show “The Masked Singer,” NBC's “That's My Jam” and the 94th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars). Blackstone was born in Trenton, New Jersey and it was there that he began to hone his craft under the guise of his father, a jazz musician, who remains one of his greatest musical influences. It was in a church playing drums at the age of 6 that his father discovered he had rhythm and perfect pitch. Once his family moved to Willingboro, NJ which has never been short on talent, he picked up bass in high school and the rest is history. After earning a scholarship to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, it didn't take long for Blackstone to become engulfed in the soul music pulse that was flowing through the city at that time. Beginning as a session musician, shortly after his start, he was touring the world.

12-year-old Celina Mays went missing from her home in Willingboro, New Jersey, on December 16, 1996. Celina was reported missing, but her disappearance wasn't really treated as a potential crime by her family or local law enforcement. In fact, it took days for police to find out perhaps the most important detail – 12-year-old Celina was pregnant and due in only two weeks. Now, it's been over 25 years, and Celina is still missing. But what they've found out about her life leading up to that day paints a dark, sinister picture of what her fate could have been. Rodney Kersaint was originally born in Brooklyn, NY August 5th 1987. His mother Juliette Kersaint raised him and three siblings by herself working multiple jobs at a time. Shortly after they relocated to Willingboro, NJ. Rodney was always a smart and athletic child growing up but due to his neighborhood things would take a dramatic turn. At the tender age of 8 Rodney and a good friend of his were forced to their knees by a neighbor and gun forced to their heads while the neighbor began to play Russian roulette.Unfortunately things from that day on were never the same. Coming up he was full of anger and rage and would find himself acting out in school or on sports teams and through out the neighborhood. Quickly after entering high school he was removed from the local high school and shipped off to boarding school due to his continuous problematic behavior. He returned home and continued down the wrong path. He was then kicked out of school then the family home and eventually found himself with the wrong crowd. He lost friends to jail and death. In 2008 he joined the United States Navy, he was sent to San Diego for his first Active Duty tour. It was there due to change of scenery and crowd he began to feel a sudden change in his mindset. He originally put success on a T-shirt to remind himself to stay out of trouble and only focus on Success. Then boom! It was a fashion hit in local San Diego, and he was featured on the Channel 8 news by Larry Himmel. The acronym for Success is Stand Up Create Change Every Single Second. It is more than a clothing line it's a movement geared towards changing the mindsets of our youth. We are capturing the youth mind before the negative influences that plague our communities get a chance to. Various celebrities have been seen with the brand and the brand is now in some stores throughout the country he travels around the country speaking at school inspiring children to unlock their full potential earlier in life! Please join the movement and let's break the cycle of negativity one T-shirt a time! There’s a lot of talent coming out of New Jersey these days, and rapper/singer Sadge, out of Willingboro, is bringing a new sound to female hip hop. Trophy Hitta Sadge, or Sadge for short, started her music career at the early age of 14. She was influenced by her older sister, who listened to a lot of Ashanti, Alicia Keys, and Destiny’s Child growing up. This is when she discovered her love for R&B; but it wasn’t until she discovered Lil’ Kim, Tupac, and Jay-Z that she realized her love for hip hop. She proved her love to her mom by kicking a freestyle to Kanye West’s classic, “Jesus Walks”. Sadge has put out singles like “Give It Up”, and “Favors” on SoundCloud, Apple Music and Spotify. She’s got this swag that is all her own with a dope voice to match. Mostly sunny with high temperatures in the upper 40s. U.S. SUPREME COURT HEARING SPORTS-BETTING CASE TODAY Gov. Chris Christie is in Washington, D.C., today to listen in as the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments about whether sports betting should be legal in New Jersey. Christie has a lot at stake in the case, Kevin Draper and Nick Corasaniti write in The New York Times, as the governor – who has very low approval ratings – looks for something to cement his legacy. If New Jersey loses in court, Christie’s reputation could take another hit. BEAR HUNT UNDERWAY, BUT IT MIGHT BE THE LAST ONE The second part of the 2017 bear hunt began this morning, and if Gov.-elect Phil Murphy fulfills his campaign pledge, it will be the last for a while. In a statement, Murphy said before authorizing any more hunts, he wants a better understanding of the effectiveness and "proof it works better than non-lethal options," Bruce A. Scruton reports for the New Jersey Herald. In the first part of this year's bear hunt, held in October, hunters bagged 244 bears. THE TRAFFICKERS NEXT DOOR: DRUG CARTEL GETS A FOOTHOLD Members of the Mexico-based Sinaloa drug cartel are living in New Jersey, often going unnoticed in local communities, Ken Serrano reports for the Asbury Park Press. “They’re in sleepy towns,” State Police Detective Sgt. 1st Class Larry Williams said. “They’d rather be in a Willingboro or another place where they can’t be robbed or can’t be found. They want to blend into their surroundings.” It’s estimated that the cartel controls about 90 percent of the wholesale heroin that comes into the state. SHOULD FAILURE BE AN OPTION IN NEW JERSEY SCHOOLS? A growing number of school districts are adopting “no zero” grading policies, in which any student who shows up and makes a reasonable effort will earn a grade of at least 50 percent. This has opened debate about the purpose of grades, Carly Sitrin writes for NJ Spotlight. Are they meant to be rewards and punishments, or measures of proficiency? Newer approaches to grading, like no-zero and second-chance testing, are drawing objections from students as well as some teachers and administrators. DISCUSSION OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT TAKES TO NJPAC STAGE When Stephen Colbert, host of “The Late Show,” and Samantha Bee, host of “Full Frontal,” took the stage at NJPAC on Saturday night for the annual Montclair Film Festival fundraiser, the conversation quickly turned to the flood of sexual harassment reports in the news, Sharilyn Johnson writes for Vanity Fair. “The speed and velocity of which everything is coming forward is impressive to me,” Bee said, “and I’m happy to be alive in this moment where people are feeling freer with their stories.” ICYMI: BILL TO BAN BUMP STOCKS ADVANCES IN ASSEMBLY Legislation to ban the bump stock, a device that allows semiautomatic weapons to fire more rapidly, was advanced Thursday by the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee, Brent Johnson reported for NJ.com. The bump stock was used in the mass shooting two months ago in Las Vegas in which 58 people were killed. The proposed legislation calls for penalties of three to five years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000.
“Self Correction; understand you’re not always gonna be right.” Willingboro, NJ, a place between the good and bad, where you you would see who can fight the best, play ball the best, dance the best, and be the best. It may not be NY, Philly, or LA, but T-Dot proudly puts it on the map. Growing up, T-Dot didn’t leave his rough neighborhood, and thought that’s what just being a kid was. He loved playing sports, immersed himself in painting, and always questioned everything. He wasn’t the best fighter, baller, or dancer, but became an assassin with his words and humor. This would soon lead him to freestyle rapping, and his journey began. Music was the first thing T-Dot got real approval on as he began to discover himself throughout high school. However, paralleling his music life was also a world of trouble, that started to take over. Realizing a lifestyle that was once fun and games, was now dangerous, he shifted his focus completely, and went all-in on his artistry. But being a creative takes more than just focus. It’s about getting lost a hundred times just to find who you really are. And for the next several years of hard work, moving around the country, and coming to the brink of quitting, T-Dot arrived - and “never went back, never got wack.” More than not, our path is far from what we expect it to be. But, “understand the season you’re in.” Be you, but also find where you fit in. This isn’t just a story of a young Jersey kid becoming one of the illest artist’s and songwriter’s in LA, but it’s about understanding your worth and believing in yourself. This is about what you do in between the wins, and following through. This is about opening your mind up to a new side of life. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is T-Dot Illdude. #MamaWeMadeItConnect!IG: @dotsquiat@mamawemadeit@anoushmoin@getrauschy See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
