In Episode 51, I debrief how my good friend Robbie Martin and I took an idea for a virtual arts, music, and charity festival and brought it to life, raised thousands of dollars, streamed to thousands, ended up live on television on Fox 5 DC news, and built a Facebook community of over 1,000 people from all over the country... all in less than 6 weeks. Candidly, this was a life-changing event and a very unique experience so I stripped down the podcast setup, grabbed a mic, and recorded on my balcony. In this episode, I unpack the following 4 takeaways; Why it's important to look at decisions/experiences as "What if it's better than you could possibly imagine" instead of "what's the worst that could happen"The significance of one of my favorite quotes "We seldom lookup in rooms we frequent"Value of Trust Then there is a teaser of a 4th which is simply, the value of a walk. On Episode 47.5, I discuss The Black Lives Matter Movement and the racial injustice in this country. Context: I debated going silent alongside many other people during this time. However, I felt in my core that I'd regret it. This is too important. The reason I started this podcast 1.5 years ago was to help bring great conversations to the table that serve as a catalyst for progress and more importantly, action. Additionally, I did this to put myself on the record to challenge myself on being informed and able to own my opinions, regardless of the topic. In this case, I felt going silent would be irresponsible, a cop-out, and a decision I'd regret. In this episode, I share my thoughts on the current situation, as well as, two potential solutions. With that said, I know many of you have great ideas. So I'd like this to begin a dialogue, not serve as a lecture. What do you see as the other ways we can obtain the desired result(s)?Message me directly on Instagram or Twitter @JeremyFrancese

Welcome to Episode 41, where we are joined by Ali Khazanbeik. On paper you can say that Ali is a member of the Iranian National Golf Team, an American college athlete, and a graduate of an American university. However, that is only a small piece of the story. At the age of 5, his mother and father sold everything they had to flee Iran with Ali and his older brother. After making passage through 5-6 countries, they landed in Germany seeking asylum. They didn't speak the language, their Iranian education was no longer valid, and if they were sent home that would mean they were pushed back into the environment they left for fear of their safety. For 6 years they were contained in German refugee housing, waking up each day wondering if that was the day they would be sent back to Iran or provided safe admission into Germany. In this episode, Ali shares his story and much more. Learn More: 1stFloorConversations.com Rate & Review: If you enjoy, please rate and review the podcast. That would mean the world to us.
