We hear from Alease Daniel, Victoria Wigley, Dani Smale, and Giles Palmer about what makes them happy and sad in their work.  What was discussed:  Why Alease chose to share her work on social media to dispel the mystery about the lab and how it can empower patients  How Labs can be understaffed and embryologists are undervalued and their opinions aren't valued.  Burnout but it's still a job - they don't want to be worked to death and the human aspect of the embryologist isn't considered.  Lack of training in delivering bad news How when Victoria was working as a lab manager meant she could spend more time with patients - not been able to do that previously, so didn't have the opportunity to build rapport  How she realized there was a gap in the info from the lab side - eg. lots of questions from patients about add-ons that make patients feel vulnerable  The benefit of having someone impartial to go through them to make an informed decision to go back to the clinic and feel more in control  WHow being an Emrbyologist is always a topic of conversation at dinner parties always fascinates people.  How you go on the journey with patients so when it doesn't work or they lose the baby, it's heartbreaking  Embryologists are scientists and aren't trained in the emotional side  Talks about a study of over 1k embryologists - looking at mental health and presented as a poster at Fertility 2022 Job needs a lot of skills, as there is little automation.  Need good hand and eye coordination Often work alone  but often don't do the whole cycle Can be very stressful  Daily appraisal - why didn't this person get pregnant  Time Commitment - every weekend, on a rota, often on call - mission-critical equipment is on alarms  Job changes all the time About 75% are female to male in embryology  The embryology population is ageing out  This series of The Fertility Podcast is sponsored by https://www.tmrw.org/ (TMRW)  SOCIALS: We really want to hear your thoughts on whether this matters to you. The KISS Show!! With Gilbert Neal and Ken Ray Wilemon:   Wicked Lester - She (1972) Lips - Beck (1971?) The original version of “Beth”, obviously from a cassette. This band never released anything. Lips was born the night Criss's previous band Chelsea died.  While the material they would develop was similar to the material Chelsea had done, several later KISS songs were born in this period.  "I know you love complainin'..." Crazy Joe and the Variable Speed Band - Eugene (1981) Co-written and produced by Ace Frehley. "Crazy Joe" was actually Joe Renda, White Plains NY producer and recording studio owner linked to the local Ren-Vell Records and North Lake Sound studio. He is perhaps best remembered for...this..., but his roots extend back to early 60s garage rock. Gilbert Neal and Ken Ray Wilemon - Beth  Gene Simmons - Black Tongue (2004) Garbage. Utter trash.  Kiss - Bad Lovin' (1978) (“Dr. Love” demo) Peter Criss - Hooked On Rock and Roll (1978) Gilbert Neal and Ken Ray Wilemon - I Was Made For Loving You Kiss - Watchin' You (1972-73) Paul Stanley - Tracks Of My Tears (2021) Wicked Lester - Too Many Mondays (1972) Turn up the volume to hear at comparable volume. It speaks to how Kiss would have turned out if they hadn't decided on the gimmick we all know.  Gilbert Neal and Ken Ray Wilemon - Dr. Love   Potpourri featuring some bad Jan and Dean:   The Free Design - You Could Be Born Again (1968) Bernie Waldon - Bright Lights And Go-Go Girls (1968) Obituary: Bernard E. “Bernie” Waldon, age 77, passed away June 27, 2012, in Brooksville, Fla. He was born in Crawfordsville to Floyd and Agnes Waldon. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School and moved to Indianapolis in 1965. Bernie worked in radio for several years at WILO, WHOW and WIRE in Indianapolis, and WZIP in Cincinnati. He was a musician working with several Country and Bluegrass groups mainly the Indiana Band and Bluegrass Partners. He appeared on radio and television, was a guest on the Grand Ole Opry and Renfro Valley Barn Dance. Bernie retired from Emery Worldwide in 1977, prior to that he worked for Purolator Courier. Bernie was a private pilot and past president of the Indiana chapter of the Antique Airplane Association of which he was a national lifetime member. He also belonged to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Associations, the Experimental Airplane Association and the Luscombe Association. He served eight years in the Indiana National Guard. Billy Dee Williams - A Taste Of Honey (1961) This was the first version of what would become a very popular war-horse for singers all over the world. Another trivia question! Who did it first? Lando California.  Jean DuShon - For Once In My Life (1966) This was the first version of what would become a very popular war-horse for singers all over the world. Another trivia question! Who did it first? Jean DuShon.    Jerry Jeff Walker - Mr. Bojangles (1968) This was the first version of what would become a very popular war-horse for singers all over the world. Another trivia question! Who did it first? Jerry Jeff Walker. He also wrote it.  Rod Rogers & The Swinging Strings - Beatle Crawl (1965) Tony Bruno - Rhoda Mendelbaum (1969) How I love Tony Bruno.  Gianfranco & Gian Piero Reverberi - Nel Cimitero Di Tucson (1968) From the movie "Django, Prepare a Coffin". Starring Terrence Hill.  The Jackson Five - Doctor My Eye (1973) Jan and Dean - Laurel and Hardy (1966-1969) In response to market forces, Jan and Dean decided to go all out and record a psychedelic album of their own. In the process, Jan got into a car crash that left him somewhat debilitated. The album was finished by 1969. While presented as a Jan and Dean album, Jan Berry (even though he wrote and produced the material) only played and sang on a few songs due to complications from his car accident. Dean Torrence, who by that time had become disillusioned with the duo's prospects, only appears on one song. Glen Campbell made some contributions to the sessions, and singer Tom Bahler performed lead vocals on several songs. Tom Bahler wrote "She's Out of My Life" for Frank Sinatra. He never sang it, but Michael Jackson did on Off The Wall. Bahler also wrote the Bobby Sherman hit "Julie, Do Ya Love Me". A song I wrote and sang in my mind for Julie Pawlowski of Emporium Avenue, West Seneca, NY, 14224. This song was co-written by Roger Christian, who co-wrote several songs for The Beach Boys, mostly about cars, including "Ballad of Ole' Betsy", "Car Crazy Cutie", "Cherry, Cherry Coupe", "Don't Worry Baby", "In the Parkin' Lot", "Little Deuce Coupe", "No-Go Showboat", "Shut Down", and "Spirit of America", all of them penned with Brian Wilson. And Roger Christian was from Buffalo, NY. We rule.  Jan and Dean - The Universal Coward (1965) You have to hear this to believe it.  Jan and Dean - Yesterday (1965) Kathy McCord - She's (I'm) Leaving Home (1970) Kathleen McCord was born to Bill and Ann McCord. Both of them were in the show business: Bill was a radio and television announcer at NBC, whilst Ann was a singer who sang backup on Perry Como's TV show and hit records like "Catch a Falling Star", "Round and Round" and "Magic Moments". She was introduced to Chip Taylor by her brother, Billy Vera (who had a big weepy hit with "If I Could Just Hold You Again") when she was 16 years old. She has something to do with Kiss. I forgot.

Have you ever felt discouragement? Sure you have. And tell me once you start thinking and mulling in that state of mind. What usually comes out of that thinking and mulling things over process? Without knowing you I can answer that one. Usually negative thoughts. And little options, which lead to a confirmation that “it is hopeless”. And that's what we can avoid. It is so important if you haven't listened to anything else I said before, or someone asked you to listen to it…. And you are doing this as a favor, not because you are really interested in the topic…these are the important steps to take. 1. Keep a success diary. Yes I know you are not 15 anymore. Doesn't matter. Successful people have success diaries. 2. Stick around positive thinkers and optimists. Especially if they irritate you. And avoid the negative mindset crowd at all costs. Why well because they have a problem for every solution, don't they? Even when I told this story about my cramp, I have had people tell me about the possible horror scenarios. And really, I don't want to know. 3. Go back to the previous lesson, and work on your run mission statement. You did do that didn't you? Or did you just listen to the show and didn't react.. no of course you wrote some sentences down, good for you. 4. And then a beautiful poem: Breath darling, this is just a chapter, It's not your whole story. 5. 2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk in faith, not by sight. Whow, that is such a inspirational verse. That alone is enough for me. Disappointment and discouragement is a normal part of life that everyone experiences. However, you do not have to feel discouraged in the face of setbacks. Developing a positive attitude, which takes time and reacting the way I described in the episode. So that when you face a challenge, can make you resistant to discouragement. See disappointment as an opportunity to recharge and refocus instead of a reason to feel bad. With some hard work and self awareness, you can foster a healthy, positive mentality

I need to share with you a story from 1994. Picture it, the start of the Comrades marathon. 9 times winner Bruce Fordyce, at the start. It's a perfect day as the runners head off through the dark Durban streets, starting their climb. Now remember this is 1994.. when you still had a Walkman, South Africa had its first multi racial elections, Tonya Harding… skater, who took out her rival… how's that for a strategy… Brazil wins the world cup, If the gloves don't fit… that white Bronco driving down the highway with what was it 10 20 police cars? Ok, and now… back to the comrades.. just shy of 90 kilometers, from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. And at 21KM a man with a strange surname takes the lead. Well… ok… Salazar is it even worth to try and pronounce his name? He is participating the first time, and Bruce will win this one… just wait and see. Now back in '94, this day was the only day that in our household the TV was on. Actually, it's the only day there was something being shown. See the Comrades is THE event, and coverage actually started as soon as it was daylight. I remember this race so clearly, as the race went on, more details emerged about the runner leading the pack. Alberto Salazar. Turns out he was a Boston winner… but that was some years ago. His 5K time of 13:11, a marathon best of 2:09. Winning the NY marathon 3 times in a row. Or the dehydrated finish line dash 1982 Boston marathon. Whow… impressive but still he never had run such a far distance. I never realized this, but in those days it was said that he wasn't a naturally talented or gifted runner. If there even is such a thing. One thing he had was tenacity Crossing a line dehydrated or collapsing due to heat exhausting. He stopped running in the mid 80's and then well… first he tried to heal up from various wounds injuries and operations he had. Ending up doing most of his training on a treadmill. Signed up and ran a spectacular comrades marathon. Winning it. He basically came out of nowhere, rather than give up, he went for a double distance. The comrades marathon is about 90KM…. Seriously who does that? Who would even think of doing that? If you are injured as a pro, the way he was injured most would give up running. Or at least wait till the body fully recovers. I don't remember what it was but some injury that really took a long time to Actually, his career was “washed up”. His injuries, I guess his age too, and there where other runners that dominated the headlines. Then he focused on the treadmill. Really brave. He ran even though injuries where not healed completely. He overcame incredible hardships, must have endured a lot of pain. Now look I am aware of the press coverage regarding Alberto and the Oregon Project. Or some other allegations and you might say where there is smoke there is a fire. But that's not what I want to talk about. I want to focus on the Comrades which he absolutely crushed, and his training mindset.Do click on the link below find out more about me www.heikostribl.com and for more running related content do check out https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuoAaTiD4Dc2tMl5r3P09-g and take a free course on becoming a better runner… www.hypnorun.com A rating, a like, a share will be greatly appreciated, and will help other runners' that are looking for such advice find this show.

Let me guess, when you are going for your run…. you think of… the distance, how far you want to go. Then next you think of the time, is it not? Hey come on, its what most runners' will think about. But what about intensity? Welcome to the advanced endurance coaching podcast. What do we do here… come on, if you are a first time listener…. You need to listen to a few of the previous shows, because it takes a while to grow on you… lol… and you, the regular listener: thank you, for your support. Listeners in no, not 30 nope nor 35… 40 countries. Whow, really thanks for your support. Honestly how does this internet thing work… ? Is it the fact that there are no ads? No “a quick note from my sponsors?”… maybe because there's no swearing and useless rambling? You know on a longer run, I might enjoy listening to a podcast. But so much out there is just not… not interesting. A lot of it is about me me me…. Or lining up to some or other comparison which leads a lot of runners to suffer from the comparison trap. Yu should check out the podcast episode 15 run your way to contentment… I did a whole show on that comparison trap, how it will suck the living daylight out of you. Hey, so that's why if you want high quality advice, and get some inspiration to ensure you stay on track. ….. That's what it is all about staying on track, isn't it? That a different summary for perseverance. Here at the advanced endurance podcast, it is about that most important part of your whole being as a runner. That most important muscle, that most priced tool you have… Your brain. New listeners do stay tuned, even if you are disappointed that I didn't mention a new pair of runner's sock, runners shoes, or runners gel. Wouldn't it be great if those things really made you faster? What makes you faster? Other than obviously training according to a plan, adhering to it with diligence? How about training your brain… you should visit our site hypnorun.com the only training guide that is made by runners' for runners' as it says in the intro… better stronger smarter… BUT… Nor the show nor the course for that matter will lead you to become a master runner if you haven't been running and training improving and competing the past few years, listening to the show won't make any difference. Nothing. Well JUST listening won't make a difference anyway, you need to use what you learn, apply it. And if you haven't invested a lot in the last few years, how do you expect to suddenly do a sub 50 10K (if up to now you never ran faster than say 70 minutes) Where is that improvement supposed to come from? Why do I get such e-mails? Whaaats up I thought this was supposed to be motivational? LOL, hey if you want to waste your time, and money, you need to go somewhere else. Somewhere they promise you that all you need to do is dream… visualize it. Hey, of course visualization is an important technique, in a certain given context. Yes at hypnorun we use it too…but part of a training module. But as a standalone, fueling hopes and dreams that cannot come true… because you have been…say…. lazy for too long, or you have been a “full of excuses runner” for too long. Sometimes it is what it is. The best time to start improving… was yesterday. That best ever 5K… that was last year… That sub 3:00 hour marathon, too many missed training cycles. Too many missed strength training workouts. It is not going to happen. If that is you, your current situation…. Here are some steps forward.

What can a peach the size of your face teach you about expectations? Let’s discuss! W How do you manage expectations to avoid disappointment, while avoiding complacency? How do you go from the perfect peach, to whatever it is that they sell at the grocery store.    These are the questions we tackle in this episode, and you can listen here. hy is that important for business?  When you have the perfect peach as a child, every other peach will reliably be a disappointment. When you have an amazing first experience, you often have to contend with unmet expectations, so how do you manage those expectations, in life and business, so you aren’t perpetually disappointed.  “Satisfied” can sometimes feel like a dangerous word. How can you give conscious thought to creating an experience for our staff, for instance, so they are as happy with the decision they made on day 418 as they were on day 1? How do we balance desire and expectation with satisfaction, while avoiding disappointment? Satisfaction feels like it can easily dribble into inertia and complacency without a little hunger. If every single peach met the standard of that first one, it would just be a peach.  “Fine is something you pay, not something you get” – wisdom by Eliot.  From The Incredibles Helen: Everyone's special, Dash. Dash: Which is another way of saying no-one is. As we talked about in Episode 149 Everything’s a Blur, we mark our time with individual blips and the punctuation of life, and sameness tends to cause life to blur. The answer to fear of unmet expectations isn’t to keep our expectations low, but to communicate about them. The problems with expectations happen when they haven’t been discussed, or when they are confused with certainty. And most importantly, expectations without truth are dangerous.  What story do you want to tell? So, that's our story... now, we want to hear yours! Running & mindset… You are not sure whether this podcast is for you? I will give you the quintessence of today's message… if you don't like it… of course you could go and learn some more swearwords form Joe Rogan. The main point for today…. In this podcast there is just on message: stop being led by your failures and start making your dreams your source of inspiration. Whow… here comes the intro…. Do you really have a dream a goal for your running? Or is it just something you do. Same way you do dishes. You do your laundry. Maybe your running goal is diversified… you enjoy spending time on Amazon going through those comments on that pair of really cool looking running shoes. Or debating whether the Garmin training plan is better suited than the Runners' World training plan. Hey maybe you.. no hang on… not you… maybe you know a runner out there who just does his obligatory run. Because it feels good. But the running is a bit on and off. Sort of like stop and go function… you go if the going is good but stop if the weather is not the way you like it. Excuses are not hard to come by, the running story that is being written will be a rather boring uninspiring read. Didn't run today due to, Couldn't run because of, Well I once thought of doing a marathon, BUT…. Not a very exciting or compelling story to read, is it? Not one that you will be proud to share neither with friends nor with those people that look up to you. Ouch. So what needs to happened? Well obviously, something about your story needs to change. And there are plenty of examples out there, where ordinary people just changed… and no I am not going to cite some high profile brought to fame via social media runners ‘story. Maybe you feel the same when you hear o read about a 60-year-old completing a marathon in sub 3 time. I was like, are you serious? How the heck… or REALLY powerful stories of runners' I remember one lady, she had during her pregnancy gained 40 kg… hey and she shared her joy of being a mum just as loud as she shared her frustration at the extra weight. You know what, she started walking 1.0 Km every day, and progressed to the 2019 Munich marathon. Yes, that's how the story goes… she didn't start with a park run, or a run streak… it was a struggle…. OR of the runner who at age 69 started running. Why, how come what happened? Well he had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes…he, he did start by doing the Saturday morning park run and progressed from there to running a first half marathon at age 72. A three-year journey. And I am not even going to mention people that have impaired vision, or other hardships and experience great power from their runs. Even my own run story, I will share with you my biggest success… but first… change. Change Heiko… I want to change. Ok… you convinced me. And you know what? You have come to the right place. Because: Hey and I know what you want. You want change, and you want it NOW. Of course you do. Who doesn't? Hey even put me on that list. LOL. Actually, you expect it to happen like Superman when he rushes into a phone booth. Hold on, it is Clark Kent, who rushes inside the phonebooth, and changes into Superman. But that's beside the point. You want change to happen fast, right now, this instant. Superman style. Quick quick… “follow these easy steps”… or your 3 weeks to your fastest marathon… “instant speed improvement for runner's”… whow finally Heiko you understood what we want as audience… yes instant change instant change… give to us now.

Running doing Pull ups and a 5K record What was the world record for 5K in 1900? Yes, in 1900… in case you missed it, the world record is 12:35, by Ugandan athlete Joshua Cheptegei… back to the question… the year 1900, what was the record? 16:30 by Charles Bennet. How this adds up to pulls for runners', stay tuned a good show coming up…. But first here is the intro. Yes, that's right the show where you learn more about scientifically proven methods that will help you get your mind wrapped around mental improvements. How to build perseverance, how to get more resilient, hey even how to set your running ambition. Doesn't matter if you are an experienced runner or a beginner. What's important is that you have experienced IT. IT… no not as in the 1986 horror novel by Stephen King… with IT I mean that moment in time where you understood perhaps in a disappointing moment that your body was willing and able, BUT your mind was not. You trained, you put in the effort, you even felt your progress as your times got better and your distances got longer. But then suddenly, that one moment in time… it is in your head, something happened. That made you either slow down, stop, or worse just give up. Or perhaps up until now you never asked yourself what you are really capable of. You don't think of your running as something that progresses, you just run, but don't consider improving: That's what this show, actually the whole concept is about…. Improvements to help you become a better, stronger and smarter runner…. Just a quick podcast usually I try to keep it under 20 minutes, that will give you a brief summary of steps, processes to get more out of your running, especially for the runner going closer to 40 or 50, hey that is an age where your best running is still out there, waiting for you. In case you are a new listener, guess what… there are no 5 minute ads for some apparent miracle cure soft drink, or socks that apparently will benefit you greatly. I mention the socks because somehow the algorithm of Instagram seems to think I only have socks with holes in them… for the record I don't. But they keep on recommending me socks in the most seriously professional made ad. With goosebump moment cinematography… Honestly socks, that's the cure? The right socks are THE solution that get 1.ooo of clicks and likes? Whow. Really? No of course not, and if you are someone who finds himself dreaming of running sometimes, and of looking at a trail thinking “whow” I wonder where that leads to… yes… definitely stay tuned, you might just find more food for thought in the next few minutes rather than thinking about your socks. Who am I? Thanks for asking, well let's start off with I am a passionate, endurance coach and motivational trainer, whose live revolves around running, work, based on the Christian faith, paying bills, raising kids and making time to teach runners' mind techniques usually in real life works shops… but seeing that COVID 19 doesn't want us to meet personally anymore there is no offer I can send you to. W: Hi, Michael. How was your day? M: Umm, good… Uh… why are you staring at me so much, Sarah? W: I just took a phycology lecture on how to tell if a person is lying or not. I wanted to try to tell if YOU are lying to me, so I was studying your behavior and tone of voice. M: But I wouldn’t lie about saying my day is fine. That would be silly. W: How would I know if you’re telling the truth? Did you know that the average person hears 10 to 200 lies in just one day? M: Wow, we hear 10 to 200 lies per day? I guess if you include TV commercials and stuff, it’s believable. Hey, I have an idea. How about we play a game? I’ll tell you three things about me, and YOU have to figure out which of the three things is a lie. W: OK! That’s a great idea. I’ll use the information from what I learned today in the lecture so that I can see through your lies. M: OK, let’s begin. The first fact is that I like to study biology… (W: Hmm.) M: The second fact is that I love ice cream. (W: Hmm, your face.) M: The last fact about me is that I love dogs. W: Hmm: You love biology… ice cream… or dogs… From what I learned, I think that… all three facts are lies, because you were lacking in expression, and you looked very bored when you were talking. Also, your feet were facing the exit. These are all big signs that show someone is not telling the truth. M: Actually… they were all true! W: What? That’s impossible! According to the professor, these signs mean that you are lying, or you are not interested in the conversation. M: Of… of course… Um, I’m, I’m… interested in this conversation! I… I like you… Um, I like listening to your conversation! W: Now, I can DEFINITELY tell you are lying. (Written by Pearline Kusunoki) (308) Gossip W: Yo, how's it going? M: Still not done with that term paper yet. W: No, not that. I mean how did it go between you and Makino the other day? M: What? What do you mean? W: I saw you two walking your bikes together last night. You were both talking in hushed voices. M: When was that? Like, on the way home by the pond? W: Yep! You guys never even spoke in class, then suddenly I'd see you like that. Got me thinking all sorts of things! M: Things like what?! W: Oh, you know: My little fantasy, where you guys are secretly a couple, because you don't want other people to gossip behind your backs. M: But… W: Hold it! Now that we're on this topic, I need to ask you if you like Makino! I've been shipping you for the past couple of weeks now, just so you know. But I'm not going to tell you more than that. You gotta tell me, right now! M: OK, OK. Calm down. This is a bit too creepy for me to absorb that quickly. (pause) She's good to talk with. That's it. W: What do you mean "that's it"? What else can you say about her? M: I… uh…. W: Oh, come on, give me something to work with. What do you think of her looks? Do you like how the moon shined on her face last night? What did you two talk about, anyway? I need answers! M: Just…..please give me a second. Hey, how did you find us last night? W: Ah, that. I was…er….on my way home too. M: With whom? Are you with Taku again? W: Oh, oh. Look at the time, it flies… so fast. Gotta go and finish my term paper too! (Written by Bea Jianne Roque) (300) Gestures Are Different in Different Cultures W: Hey, why do Japanese make a peace sign when they're taking pictures? It looks strange to me. M: Ha ha. I guess most people just think it's cute. And some people, especially girls, use it to show their face smaller. W: Wow, they don't know it means "Victory in war"? And if they show the peace sign with the back of their hand, it means "Damn you!" M: Hmm… Actually, they know. But "Praying for peace" is a stronger image in Japan. We take it for granted, but I think we should avoid doing it so much in foreign countries, because the meanings of gestures are different from country to country. W: Exactly. Hey, I know a good Hawaiian gesture, called "Shaka Brother," or "Hang Loose" which can be used for a lot of our feelings, such as "Hello," "How are you," "Good luck," "Thank you," and "I love you." M: Wow, sounds really useful! W: Yeah, the former American president, Obama, also used this sign differently depending on the situation. For he was born in Hawaii. M: I see… Hey, look over there. Is that Tom coming this way? W: Yeah. Let's have a chat with him. (Showing her palm to Tom) M: Ah! Why are you keeping him at a distance!!!? (Written by Wakana Kanada) (275) Meeting People Can Be Nerve-wracking M: Hey, Alex, do you think I should I wear this blue tie or the green? W: Neither. They don't match. Hey, how aren't you ready yet? I thought guys were supposed to get ready BEFORE girls. M: Well, I don't know what's happening tonight. I don't know who we're meeting with, or where we're meeting them, and I don't know how formal it's supposed to be. I'm trying to dress appropriately, so don't rush me! W: Awww, are you nervous? That's adorable. M: Let me concentrate! ... Okay, I think I look good. W: Awesome! So, can we go now? M: Uhh.. Yeah, I guess… W: That doesn't sound very confident. M: Yeah, it's just, it sounds like there's going to be a big group of people. W: It's only a couple of drinks. M: Yeah, but what if they don't want me to be a part of their group? Or, what if I can't talk to them? W: You'll be fine! When you see them just smile and wave. Practice with me. M: (Through gritted teeth) Is this good? W: Uhhh… you look like you're teaching the Joker to dance to Single Ladies. Okay, then, you're a charming guy, just talk like you do with me. Except about politics: avoid talking about politics. M: (Breathes deeply) Okay then, let's go! (Written by Stella-Maree Trounson)

It’s been a while since we last met! W: Yeah, Alex. It’s been 2 years. How ya doin’? M: Doin’ great, actually. I mean, I’m working for GX Pharmaceuticals in California. I’m just in Japan for a business trip. What have you been up to? W: Nothing much. I mean… I tried to start up a business, and it’s going quite well. By the way, I’m still living back home. So come find me any time during your stay. M: Congratulations on your company! But are you seriously still living in your parent’s place? W: I’m just trying to save up money for my future plans! I once had a dream of traveling the world, getting a Ph.D., or becoming a doctor, whatever! M: Yeah, yeah, whatever… It’s not like it’ll happen anytime soon. W: How can you say such things? I mean, it’s better to have dreams, right? M: Well… true. Anyhow, I got to get going. I have a meeting with a tech company. See you around! (Later at the tech company’s meeting room) M: Hi. I’m here from GX Pharmaceuticals to ask for your collaboration with us. Regarding your new medicine… W: Alex! Hi again! M: Oh, my goodness… Kana, you’re the CEO of this company?! W: Well, I’m actually ALSO the head developer of this medicine you’re talking about! M: What?!!?!??! B… But how? W: Well, I DID get a Ph.D. and became a doctor. And started this company. M: So, this is a sealed deal? You’ll let us market your medicine? W: Sure! I was in Bali having my vacation, but because I saw your company’s proposal… and it DOES interest me a lot… So, congratulations! (Written by Krit Komolsirikul)

Welcome to Episode 45! In this episode, we are joined by Competitive MMA Fighter, UFC Commentator & Co-Owner of District MMA, Charles DiGisco. After seeing the world of mixed martial arts and UFC quietly yet firmly emerged on the center stage of the global entertainment market, I found it timely to have a true professional on to share the insight scoop. In this episode, Charles shares with us his story, insight into the evolution of the mixed martial arts & UFC community, as well as, answers to questions like; - In the world of ball & stick sports, how do people get introduced to fighting, mma, and fight gyms? -What were those moments in the evolution of the sport that, looking back, stand out as landmark deals or changes in the history of the sport? - What was it like to prep/fight where you were out-weighed, had a shorter reach, and were 2,000 miles from home on the opponent's home turf? What was it like when you submitted him and took home the W? - How did you and your partners build one of the fastest-growing MMA gyms in the DMV? Why is the member referral rate 5x what a standard gym is? - Knowing the experienced fighters have an edge and the new fighters are out-matched, how did you build a culture where everything can ultimately grow and develop? …and much more. (Written by Pearline Kusunoki)
