In this solo episode, I'm sharing something I've been unpacking privately for a long time—my relationship with stress, and how it shows up when life starts to change. You'll hear about the pattern I've noticed in myself: how I sometimes retreat after making bold moves, even when they're exactly what I wanted.I talk through how I used to bury stress, what happened when that stopped working, and the questions I ask myself now when I start to feel overwhelmed or blocked.Whether you're in a season of growth, burnout, or somewhere in between—this episode is here to remind you: you're not behind, and you're not alone. What I cover:Why we pull back after stepping outside our comfort zoneThe stress response no one talks aboutHow I process overwhelm and check in with what I really needThe difference between resting and avoidingSimple steps to move forward without bulldozing yourselfLinks + Mentions:Connect on Instagram → @stronginthesaddle_Equestrian Tiktok: @ stronginthesaddleFREE Happy Hips for horseriding PDFFREE Supple Shoulders for the Saddle PDFWebsite: www.chrissyhawkins.com

Connection forms the foundation of mental health and happiness, with disconnection from ourselves, others, the world, and something greater underlying virtually every psychological struggle we face.• Four types of connection: with self (authenticity), others (relationships), the world (nature/art), and something greater (awe/spirituality)• Modern distractions like social media, FOMO, and constant digital interruptions actively prevent meaningful connection• Self-connection provides the foundation for all other connections - if disconnected from ourselves, we can't truly connect elsewhere• Personal "connection formulas" vary widely - activities that energize one person may drain another• Novel shared experiences allow families and couples to see each other through fresh eyes and strengthen bonds• Friendships serve vital roles that romantic relationships cannot replace - no single relationship can meet all our connection needs• Workplace connection can be found by developing valued skills and experiencing flow states even in less-than-ideal jobs• Loneliness impacts physical health more than smoking, highlighting connection as a fundamental human needThe book "Super Psyched: Unleash the Power of the Four Types of Connection and Live the Life You Love" is available now on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and you can learn more at DrAdamDorsay.com.Visit our site for FREE relationship resources and regular giveaways: Strongermarriage.org Podcast.stongermarriage.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/strongermarriage/ Facebook Marriage Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/770019130329579 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/strongermarriagelife/ Dr. Dave Schramm: http://drdaveschramm.com http://drdavespeaks.com Dr. Liz Hale: http://www.drlizhale.com

We're in the splinter era of friendships (as coined by Tinx), where everyone's suddenly in different life stages, on very different journeys. While one friend is planning their wedding, another is having her second baby, another is single AF traveling the world in the name of self-discovery, and others are going all in on their new business or corporate ladder climbing. It can feel isolating, confusing, and hard to relate to the people you were always in sync with. Cue the old childhood Girl Scouts jingle: “Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other's gold.” It's so valuable to have friends in different life stages who are going through different experiences, but it's equally important to surround yourself with people who are where you are in life right now — because being the only single person in a group of married friends fucking sucks. We tend to expect everything from one person, whether it's a romantic partner or best friend, but we should be diversifying our needs across many people to feed different parts of ourselves. The friends we make to meet us where we are right now don't need to be ride-or-die forever besties… there is just as much value in having friends for a season who can walk with you through the current phase you're in. So tune in for some real talk on friendships, where I chat about: The repercussions of splinter era and why this is unique to our generationThe different kinds off friends you needThe value of finding our work wives, single friends, and fellow mamas Investing in seasonal friends and deprioritizing the idea of “forever friends”How to meet new friends that meet your needsThe Mel Robbins analogy that changed how I approach friendship Wherever you are on your adulting journey, I hope you find good people to walk it with. Lindsay Housman was floored when she learned that women are considered “a confounding variable” when it comes to scientific and athletic research. That is to say that women are rarely researched because they are more “complicated.”This is especially true in the athletic footwear industry where most research has been done exclusively on men and then applied to women as a “smaller version of men.”Learning this was a lightbulb moment for this entrepreneur with two twin daughters (who also happen to run). Hettas, performance running shoes for women, was born. Truth be told, there are multiple differences between males and females in this area as it pertains to anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics and, today, Hettas is leading this charge in female specific research and design, thanks to their relationship with Dr. Chris Napier. Chris is a clinical assistant professor at the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. He is also a member of the Minerva research group at Simon Fraser University. His research interests include running biomechanics and injury prevention, particularly through the use of wearable technology. Lindsay and Chris unpack their process from idea to full fledged running shoe. They discuss:The many anatomical, physiological, and biomechanics differences between male and female athletes How hormonal changes in women could affect training and footwear choices The detailed research studies they conducted to determine what women actually needThe three shoe types and why they chose the specific materials and designThe power of building community and receiving feedback from female runnersTheir plan for growth and product expansionTheir dream research projects Not only are they providing a practical product to help women perform better, but Hetta's is also mission driven to lead the way in women's research, encourage female business leadership, and close the confidence gap between males and females in the athletic industry. And, according to Lindsay, Chris, and the entire Hetta's team, there is no better way to serve young girls and women- especially their own daughters.

This week we learned from the inventor of the Outcome-Driven-Innovation (ODI) process, Tony Ulwick. Tony developed this process and, in 1999, he described it to Clayton Christensen, author of The Innovator's Dilemma. Although Clayton loved it, he didn't like the idea of customers having a process, so he called it Jobs-To-Be-Done. Every customer has a job to be done, so what we can do is innovate around solutions to help them get that job done. What's the job your customer is trying to get done? And how do you measure success? In this episode, Tony guides us through the process that innovators need to answer those questions, and he shares some interesting case studies of how he's helped different firms understand what jobs their customers were trying to get done, and how to identify their unmet needs. A fascinating conversation with Tony.Download and listen to learn more. Today's amazing guest is Elise Loehnen, brilliant writer, editor, and podcast host of Pulling the Thread, a podcast focused on pulling apart the stories we tell about who we are and then putting those threads back together. Ultimately, Elise is a seeker and synthesizer pulling together wisdom, traditions, cultural history, and a deep knowledge of healing modalities to unlock new ways to contextualize who we are and why we're here. While she's also co-written 12 books, including five New York Times bestsellers, her first book under her own name is here, and it's called On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and The Price Women Pay To Be Good. The book weaves together history, memoir, and cultural criticism to explore the ways the patriarchy lands in our bodies and embeds itself in our consciousness and what we then police in ourselves and in each other. With awareness, we can begin to recognize these patterns of self restriction, break the story, and move ourselves and each other towards freedom and balance. Anil Dharni is the CEO and Founder of Sense, San Francisco, Calif. - the market leader in AI-driven talent engagement and communication solutions for enterprise recruiting. He recently commissioned a study, “An Inside Look: What Today's Candidates Really Want” which polled over 1,000 U.S. based candidates who have applied for a job within the past six months, which provides some very interesting data for Recruiters. When asked what the top two non-negotiables are when considering a new job, salary/benefits (57%) and career advancement/upskilling opportunities (32%) were ranked highest followed by work from home opportunities (29%), stronger leadership (18%) and DEI programs (16%). The overwhelming majority of candidates (76%) are looking to change careers/industries.Faster response time from recruiters was ranked as the top way for companies to improve the candidate experience, cited by 80% of respondents. Slow response time from recruiters is the top reason candidates quit applying for a job. Only 19% of candidates report hearing back from recruiters within 24 hours of applying to a job.27% of candidates said the job search/application process has become more complicated.Marcus and Anil discuss the results and have an extremely lively conversation including the following topics:How candidates looking at the whole benefits package these days - not just salaryWhy companies are asking candidates to come back to the officeHow companies need to do a better job meeting candidate's needs - it's a two-way streetHow great candidates are always in needThe correction we are seeing as a reaction to over-hiringThe importance of "delightful, magical" candidate experiencesIs there really a power shift moving back from the employee to the employer? What do you do with a candidate who applies for the wrong job?How Sense technology can effectively automate the candidate screening process and start building relationships at scaleHow Sense can set Recruiters up for success by scheduling meaningful conversations with relevant and qualified candidates Using Sense technology to expedite the complete hiring processRedefining and enhancing both the recruiter and hiring manager experienceThe dangers of over-automation and the importance of the human touchIt's not all about email anymore! texting, whatsapp, chatbots - you've got to skate to where the puck is going to be!You can reach Anil at anil@sensehq.com or directly on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/anildharni/

Most of us were introduced to myths from an early age. I was fascinated by Greek myths and Greek mythology. There was something about the ancient mythical world of Hera and Zeus, Hades and Dionysus, and Ares and Aphrodite that really resonated with my eight-year-old self. The tales of Ulysses, Helen of Troy, and Romulus and Remus were better than almost any other tale I have ever been told. This truth has made me ponder; why do I - and humans in general - love myths so much, even when our rational selves know that Medusa wasn't that ugly and snakes can't actually grow out of a Gorgon's head?In today's episode, I explore why we believe in myths and why society's beliefs in falsehoods, make-believes, and mythology does not recede. I share the conspiracy theories and political myths in American society today and the mythology children are brought up on. I share the Four Theories of Myth and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory. I also highlight how we use myths to comfort our fears and worries and find simple answers to the complex and often unanswerable questions about living and the meaning of life.“They make us feel better simply because you can use myths to park all our anxiety, all our worry in a lovely little box called a myth.” - Chris ColbertThis week on Insert:HumanThe paradox of our societies often being built on myths and falsehoodsConspiracy theories, political myths, and how 27% of white evangelicals believe QAnon is realThe myths American children hear while growing up and why we are raised on mythsThe Four Theories of MythAbraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory and the framework of all human behaviorHow religion satisfies Maslow's five fundamental levels of needThe problems of taking action and making decisions based on fiction instead of factResources Mentioned:American Enterprise Institute SurveyInsert:Human - For a Better Life & Better WorldThanks for tuning into this week's episode of Insert:Human.
