About Sade Baron and our guest, Rachel Lambo:   Sade Baron is created by a mother, Sade, and daughter, Rachel with one simple goal in mind: To create high-quality vegan body products packed with nutrient-rich superfoods that are good for both your skin and our planet. Skin’s amazingly intricate layers and regenerative powers inspire every one of these products.   When Sade was young, she suffered from eczema and scaly skin. Her grand-aunt stepped in with a homemade botanical remedy of coconut oils and plants. It had amazing results and shaped Sade deeply because Sade developed a lifelong interest in plants and their uses. With Sade, Rachel was blessed to grow up with a mother who always had the solution for any skin or health issue.   Years later, as Rachel started to search for soaps and cleansers, she found a depressing shortage in drugstores and even health stores. It was impossible to find something that was made with only clean, healthy ingredients. “People loved my mom’s oil infusions, and I noticed that,” says Rachel.   Sade was always creating and recommending solutions to people, many of whom she met in her work over 35 years as a nurse and midwife. Rachel knew the power of Sade’s formulas and encouraged Sade to learn soap-making. Armed with her background in branding and advertising, Rachel created the packages and business cards for their first booth at a vegetarian festival in Toronto.   In 2016, they began to sell the first Sade Baron plant infusions within clean, all-natural bar soaps and now the brand attracts a loyal following from around the world.   In this episode Rachel Lambo and Caroline Frenette talk about:   1. Rachel and Sade’s journey into becoming skincare formulators 2. How Sade’s eczema healing journey awakened a passion for botanical remedies 3. The importance of clean ingredients in your skincare 4. Why organic food is crucial to your health and what to do if you can’t find organic produce near you 5. The importance of supporting local organic farmers 6. Sade Baron’s commitment to making products with premium, quality ingredients at an affordable price 7. How you can create change in your community by taking small but impactful actions 8. In this episode, my guest Dr. Julie Greenberg, Naturopathic doctor and Registered Herbalist dives into functional testing to get to the root cause of rosacea and skincare to replenish the skin’s barrier. Dr. Greenberg is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and Registered Herbalist RH(AHG) who specializes in integrative dermatology. She is passionate about natural skin care and believes that many of today’s chronic skin diseases can be healed by using evidence-based alternative treatments.   Dr. Greenberg’s health journey took her from a career in business to becoming a health care warrior. She received a BA in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from Stanford University and had a successful career in finance. But a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism made her rethink everything she knew about health. A leading endocrinologist wrote her a prescription and told her that there was nothing more they could do for her. So, Dr. Greenberg got to work researching.  She learned that women put an average of 125 chemicals on their skin every day through personal care products, and that many of these chemicals are endocrine disruptors and toxins. She started studying and making her own skin care products and saw the healing power of herbs and plants first hand. She decided to dedicate her life to her passion, and attended Bastyr’s four-year naturopathic medical school.  While there she received advanced clinical training with leading experts in dermatology at the University of Washington Medical School and Seattle Children’s Hospital.    Dr. Greenberg practices functional medicine and is an expert herbalist.  She writes peer-reviewed medical dermatology articles for LearnSkin.com and is dedicated to using science-based research to find better solutions for our skin care diseases.   In this podcast we cover: How to reduce exposure to toxins in our everyday life Steps to restore gut balance How to support the detoxification process of the liver Skincare to keep the acid mantle acidic not alkaline Stool tests to give you a clear diagnosis of the pathogens in the gut (GIMAP) Tests to look for mold and candida with a dry urine test (OAT Organic Acid Test) Dr. Greenberg’s favorite hydrosols & oils for skincare How she goes about treating hair loss from the inside-out The link between h pylori, SIBO and  rosacea   Links + shownotes https://journeytoglow.com/67   Get the rosacea skincare guide: https://journeytoglow.com/natural-organic-skincare-for-rosacea/

The certified aromatherapist (NAHA and AIA approved), herbalist (trained by Ursula Basch, BChE), and daughter of a family physician, founded Apoterra Skincare (formerly Caru Skincare Co) in 2012 after hopelessly searching for affordable, natural and sustainable skincare that was effective for her dry, sensitive skin.   “Apoterra started as a solution to my own skin care woes. I wanted clear, radiant skin that ages gracefully but I didn’t want to use products that were bad for my health or the environment. I couldn’t find some, so I made my own.   Through my research and product trials, I have learned that plants are very well designed to care for our skin and bodies, which is why I formulate all our products with whole plants, oils and natural actives. I also learned that when it comes to natural, plant powered skincare, freshness is a key factor to potency – you can’t use a product that is 3 years old and expect results. That is why I created our batch # system and freshness guarantee.   Beyond my skin care needs, I am also extremely motivated by climate change and pollution, and so almost every decision I make from the clothes I buy, to which type of cucumber I pick at the grocery store, to how I run my business is affected by my desire to see our planet healthy and sustainably managed. I truly believe in respecting the natural cycle, and do our part to make our environmental footprint small.”   In this podcast episode, Dominique Caron and Journey To glow host Caroline Frenette talk about:   The importance of fresh, organic ingredients in skincare Apoterra’s sustainability efforts The challenges of running a small business during a pandemic Skincare as a ritual to connect to Self   To learn more about Apoterra please visit apoterra.com and instagram.com/apoterraskincare   Learn more about our 7-week program to support the natural healing of rosacea https://journeytoglow.com/reclaim-rosacea-program/

Amina was motivated to start her own skincare brand after struggling with various skin problems, mostly related to sensitivity, inflammation, oily T-zone, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, and acne breakouts. With countless products available on the market, (many with high price tags) all claiming to work effectively, she found it expensive and tedious sifting through different products trying to find “the one”. This is when she set out to start educating herself about the key ingredients used in skincare products – some active and beneficial, while others are straight out harmful. Her search led her to discover how each ingredient works on different skin types and concerns along with how to safely incorporate them into formulations to produce effective results and ensure their efficacy. In this episode Amina shares: The turning point in her skin’s “acting out” and finding a simple yet natural solution to her acne How her brand Emmaus came from trial and error (and the need to find high performance, natural products) The role of gut health and probiotics in healing a skin condition Fiding the right balance between natiral and high performance ingredients that deliver results How her skincare brand Emmaus came about   Get your (free) Skin In Crisis Guide https://journeytoglow.com/crisis   Download the Essential Radiance Guide: Caroline's Top 5 Favorite Essential Oils For Glowing Skin https://journeytoglow.com/eosradiance   The Glow channel on youTube youtube.com/journeytoglow Instagram https://www.instagram.com/lovemyjourneytoglow/ Business Coaching & Consulting: https://carolinefrenette.com   ***NEW*** THE ESSENTIAL OILS FOR SKINCARE MASTERCLASS   A 75-minute video masterclass on how to use essential oils safely and effectively for skincare and skin conditions. JTG #57 Rosacea Success Story with Dr. Tara O'Desky   I’m excited to share with you another incredible rosacea success story with my guest Dr. Tara O’Desky. After living with rosacea for 20 years, Tara healed her rosacea naturally and holistically in 2 months. (INSANE!!!)   When I first heard Tara’s story, I had so many ‘AH-HAs’! I realized that I’d been doing everything right on my journey to glow: I had eliminated inflammatory foods, was taking the right supplements, making the right lifestyle changes, I was doing cleanses I thought were right for me… But I wasn’t doing it in the RIGHT order, I didn’t have system!   Listening to Tara share her story and how she figured out how to heal her rosacea showed me that it was time for a more streamlined and organized approach to go about healing my own skin.   So I’m excited to share not only this interview but also to announce that I’ve partnered with Tara to create RECLAIM: a one-of-a-kind, 5-week, group coaching program where you’ll learn the foundational pillars intrinsic to healthy skin and ignite your body’s full healing potential.   Learn more about RECLAIM https://journeytoglow.com/reclaim/   About our guest Dr. Tara O’Desky grew up in a small town surrounded by forests, wildlife, herbs, perennial gardens, vegetable gardens and chickens. She learned at an early age the importance of medicinal herbs and living a sustainable life. She graduated Magma Cum Laude from Fairfield University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in marketing and studio art. While working in Boston, she continued to pursue her interests in nutrition, natural healing and herbal remedies. After a few years in the business world, she knew it was time for a change. She began medical school at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic, and was the recipient of the Charles G. Berwind Foundation scholarship, which supports students pursuing goals in medical and science fields. Dr. O’Desky graduated in 2003 and began practicing in Massachusetts, treating a diverse group of patients of all ages. She has focused her career on nutrition and whole food supplementation, medicinal herbs and holistic healing. In 2019 she healed her own rosacea after 20 years of ineffective treatments and medications. She has since helped countless patients with rosacea and other afflictions after developing her own holistic program for chronic skin conditions. Dr. O’Desky lives outside of Boston with her husband, two daughters, a Siberian cat, and a dwarf hamster. When she’s not working, she also enjoys gardening, painting and a newfound love of cooking.   In this interview, Dr. Tara shares: What are demodex mites and how they may affect your skin A natural product for your eyes if you have ocular rosacea Essential oils for Demodex mites Sulfur creams for rosacea Why dermatologists and optometrists don’t tell you about demodex mites The importance of following a proper detox system to get long term results Why we don’t see improvement in our skin with nutrition alone Why you want a balanced approach to cleansing The toxic effects of mercury amalgam The importance of working with a holistic dentist How quickly our skin can heal once we put our future on the root causes Learn more about RECLAIM https://journeytoglow.com/reclaim/

JTG #56 Natural Cure Rosacea, The Medical Medium “Protocol” & Celery Juice With Eva Straub   If you've been wondering if there's a natural cure for rosacea, are curious about the benefits of celery juice for skin and the Medical Medium "protocol" for skin issues, you're at the right place!   In this episode of the Journey To Glow podcast, Eva Straub aka @naturallyrawsome shares how she cured her rosacea naturally and holistically using the Medical Medium “protocol” and how becoming a raw vegan completely transformed her skin.   Although the majority of our interviews on Journey to Glow are with Holistic Skin Healing Experts, I was excited to talk to Eva (who’s not a functional practitioner, health coach, or Naturopath) to hear how she connected to heal her rosacea.   Eva shares the importance of cleansing the liver of pathogens if we want to achieve clear glowing skin, a key teaching in the book The Liver Rescue by Anthony Williams the Medical Medium.   If you’re new to the Medical Medium and his take on the root cause of rosacea, acne, psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis, you’ll want to read his book The Liver Rescue, a book that I have on my bedside table. In short, he shares that pathogens + viruses in the liver (such as EBV) feed on heavy metals (either mercury or copper or a blend of both) which in turn creates dermatoxins that manifest as rosacea or a skin issue.   And since not everyone can do celery juice (read about my 30-day celery juice challenge and the impact on my skin), Eva offers other green delight options to nourish your body and skin.   In this podcast episode we also talk about:   EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies) and how they affect the body How orgonite and Shungite can potentially protect us from EMFs The link between strep and rosacea Low hydrochloric acid and rosacea Celery juice or green juice Eve’s raw vegan diet that cleared her skin   If you’re interested in learning more about the Medical Medium “protocol” for acne (and other skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis), check out these interviews: journeytoglow.com/category-medical-medium   I hope you’ll find my conversation with Eva inspiring and please feel free to share this episode on social media! I decided not to edit out this part of the conversation so that you could get a glimpse of what it’s like to work with a really good herbalist who’s looking for the root cause, not treating the symptoms.   On the Journey to Glow podcast, our focus always aims directly at skin health. But sometimes we need to dig deeper than the surface to get to the root cause. And this is exactly what we do in this episode with Danielle.   We cover:   How to feed the probiotics already in our gut instead of constantly replenishing with probiotics What are prebiotic plants and which functional mushroom contain the most prebiotic fibers that are supportive for gut health How to use Calendula flowers to repair gut lining The importance of right dosage of plants to make it medicinal and effective Plant infusions versus decoctions The importance of designing the right plant protocol to support specific body constitutions Danielle’s preferred way to figure out if someone is nutrition deficient (hint: it doesn’t involve expensive testing) How the body gives us clues all the time as to what it needs to heal and thrive The reality of the supplements industry and where supplements really come from (even if it says USA on the bottle!) How adaptogenic mushrooms work to support the body Functional mushrooms for gut, skin and brain support   Also included in this episode: loud outbursts of laughter!   Links to everything we talked about today + show notes: journeytoglow.com/55   About our guest Danielle is a Registered Herbalist (RH) of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), Certified Holistic Nutritionist and National Educator at Four Sigmatic. Prior to joining forces with Four Sigmatic, she received her BA in Environmental Studies and Philosophy from Whitman College.   She studied Ayurveda in India and became a Certified Yoga Instructor on the banks of the Ganges River. She then worked with a Naturopathic Doctor in Indonesia where she became a Certified Raw Chef and Detox Coach. But it was leading trekking adventures into the backcountry of Thailand where she became particularly fascinated by herbal medicine.   After several years in Asia, she landed in Boulder, Colorado to formalize her education in holistic medicine. JTG #48 Rosacea No More: A Miraculous Skin Transformation With Author & Spiritual Teacher Georgie Holbrook   In this episode of the Journey To Glow podcast, I talk to author Georgie Holbrook about a natural cure to rosacea and finding the root cause by exploring emotional traumas. Georgie has an incredibly inspiring journey to glow and I’m so glad she agreed to come on the podcast to openly share everything she tried to heal her skin and what she did to completely sure her rosacea.   This is a different kind of skin healing exploration!   If you’ve been listening to the podcast, you know that we have covered SO MUCH already about trigger foods, the elimination diet, gut health, hormonal balance, the importance of non-toxic and organic skincare, and stress management.   After interviewing over 50 Skin Healing experts in different fields from Naturopathic NDs to Holistic Dermatologists to Functional Nutritionists and organic skincare formulators, I knew that I wanted to take a different direction for season 3 of the podcast so we could dive deeper into what it really takes to experience FULL AND COMPLETE skin healing.    Many of you write to me and leave reviews on iTunes (thank you!) sharing that you’ve tried everything to heal your skin and nothing seems to work…   Well, this conversation with Georgie as well as our upcoming Skin Healing Workshops will invite you to dig deeper and shift how you view your skin and the messages she has for you.   An important message…   I am well aware of the amount of absolute garbage on YouTube and the world wide web, videos from influencers making irresponsible and often false claims ” I CLEARED MY SKIN IN 24 HOURS” or “MIRACULOUS SKINCARE PRODUCTS” or “THE MIRACLE CURE TO…” to drive traffic to their channel, channels that are monetized with ads or are paid sponsorship of a product they want to sell you.   Journey To Glow and this interview is not that.   It’s never been our message to promise magical cures.   There are no shortcuts and you must do the work on your skin healing journey. Anyone that sells you overnight results, miracle skincare products, and magical cures is lying.   I started Journey To Glow SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE I was sick of all the BS I was finding online and wanted to create a home for all the resources I had found, resources from trustworthy holistic skin experts that were helping me on my journey to healing rosacea.   So, I just wanted to clarify my intention here mainly because I have NEVER used the word “cured” in any of my videos or blog articles mainly because I want to stay away from sensationalism and false information. My language has always been about “healing” meaning IT’S A PROCESS, not a magical pill.   But in this specific case, Georgie did heal her skin completely and fully so “cure” is 100% accurate. I’m consciously choosing the word “cure” to challenge old beliefs that rosacea is “incurable”. More on that in this podcast episode…   LINKS, RESOURCES & SHOWNOTES https://journeytoglow.com/48   Don't forget to download your free Essential Radiance Guide on https://journeytoglow.com/eosradiance   Get 25% off doTERRA essential oils on https://journeytolgow.com/doterra   Did you know that we have a Youtube channel?  Subscribe: youtube.com/journeytoglow   Instagram https://www.instagram.com/lovemyjourneytoglow/   Business Coaching & Consulting: https://carolinefrenette.com   About our guest:   Georgie Holbrook has made it her mission to teach others how to heal their hidden traumas, and learn prevention so that they can start living a life that they are passionate about without fear of old patterns returning. She has the unique ability to uncover the emotions behind health issues and poor self-esteem in others, see them as a sacred language and then interpret them. Once the sacred language is addressed, spoken to, sung to, and even drawn, healing can begin.   Georgie is a sacred sound specialist, emotional wellness mentor, spiritual guide, holistic educator, and author of four self-help books. Her self-healing story of completely healing from a disfiguring disease by addressing the emotions behind that disease has been published in 23 national magazines. She has held a private practice for over 20 years and is a songwriter and musician, who uses sacred sounds as a way of devotion, healing, and praise.   Thanks for listening!

JTG#47 Adaptogenic Mushrooms & Plants To Support Your Immune System with Clinical Herbalist & Mycologist Danielle Ryan   In this episode of the Journey to Glow podcast we talk to Danielle Broida Ryan, Mycologist and Clinical Herbalist, about adaptogenic mushrooms and plants to support the immune system.   The focus of our conversation? As always, it’s about empowerment.   We want to empower you to take your health into your own hands.   The main theme of this podcast is about using herbs and plants to support you from the inside-out as opposed to “defend against”. This shift alone has the power to keep you safe and sane during any challenges.   Before you dive into the content, I want to remind you that it is your responsibility to talk to your doctor (functional or conventional) if you need guidance should you want to try any herbs and mushrooms mentioned in this episode.   About our guest   Danielle is a Registered Herbalist (RH) of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), Certified Holistic Nutritionist and National Educator at Four Sigmatic. Upon completing her graduate studies at the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism (CSCH), she opened a private practice, Danielle Ryan Wellness, where she worked with hundreds of clients across the US, specializing in treatment for individuals with autoimmune conditions and chronic illness. She was invited to become the Instructor of Mycology at CSCH, where she still teaches.   Danielle brings her passion and expertise in herbal medicine, clinical practice, teaching, formulation, and her deep love for fungi, to the Everyday Magic™ of Four Sigmatic as their National Educator.   In her free time, you can find her outside—whether under the sun or stars, summer heat or winter snow. She’ll either be gardening, foraging, cooking plant-based recipes, rock climbing, hiking, skiing, surfing, or scuba diving.   In this episode we cover:   What are functional mushrooms and how they differ from “regular” mushrooms we find at the grocery store Why Chaga is dubbed The King Of Mushrooms and why it’s Danielle go-to to support her immune system Reishi, The Queen of adaptogenic mushrooms: how to take this powerhouse to support your immune system in your everyday life Why medicinal mushrooms come from China How to make sure you are buying real medicinal mushrooms and what to look for on a company’s website to make sure you are getting the highest quality The difference between stimulants (such as echinacea) and modulators (such as adaptogenic mushrooms) and how to use them properly Danielle’s top herbs to build the body’s resiliency and stamina How to energy test or use a pendulum to figure out if a supplement is right for you   LINKS, RESOURCES & SHOWNOTES journeytoglow.com/47   Don't forget to download your free Essential Radiance Guide on journeytoglow.com/eosradiance   Get 25% off doTERRA essential oils on journeytolgow.com/doterra   Did you know that we have a Youtube channel?  Subscribe: youtube.com/journeytoglow   To contact Caroline for Business Coaching & Consulting: carolinefrenette.com   Thanks for listening!

JTG #46 How to stay grounded & sane during uncertain times with Megan Pennington

Today we’re talking Megan Pennington about staying grounded and sane and self-care practices during uncertain times. We also talk about Megan’s expertise which is holistic nutrition and MRT testing (Mediator Release Test) for food sensitivities.   On another note, I have to say that I did start this podcast episode with some serious clarifications about the importance of working with pure essential oils and how to decipher the crap you’ll find on the market right now. This was brought on because I came across an essential oil company that is selling a wide array of essential oils all at the impossibly low price of $10.   Unfortunately, there are companies that will flat out lie to your face (and lie on their website) and people will fall prey to their marketing, thinking that all essential oils are created equal.   Bottom line is this: it is NOT POSSIBLE to have lemon essential oil cost the same as Blue Tansy or Frankincense. Lemon is widely available while Frankincense and Blue Tansy are both rare and require very different harvesting and transforming process.   In the intro, I share a list of reasons why you don’t want to buy from these companies but the bottom line is that if an oil is adulterated it becomes dangerous (cause you don’t know what you’re playing with) and just won’t have any medicinal properties.   If you care about quality and actually using essential oils that are effective, you’ll want to listen to the intro.   Whether you choose Doterra or Pranarom which is another company I love and trust or to work with another brand, please do your research and dig deeper than the pretty marketing on a brand’s website. There’s a lot of greenwashing out there and it’s certainly prevalent in the essential oils market as well.   About our guest:   Megan Pennington is a Food Sensitivity Specialist and Certified Holistic Health Practitioner with a BSc in Dietetics and Human Nutrition. She specializes in immune related conditions and inflammatory disorders. She works with the biophysical, emotional, spiritual, energetic and psychological aspects of the body for a full healing experience.   In this episode, Journey To Glow host Caroline Frenette and Megan Pennington explore:   How to stay grounded during challenging uncertain times Megan takes us through an exercise that connects us to Higher Self & the Cosmos How state of mind impacts your health and your skin The impact of genetics and epigenetics What is MRT testing How food sensitivities may be the missing link in your skin healing journey   LINKS, RESOURCES & SHOWNOTES journeytoglow.com/46   Don't forget to download your free Essential Radiance Guide on journeytoglow.com/eosradiance   Get 25% off doTERRA essential oils on journeytolgow.com/doterra   Did you know that we have a Youtube channel?  Subscribe: youtube.com/journeytoglow   To contact Caroline for Business Coaching & Consulting: carolinefrenette.com   Thanks for listening!

JTG #42 Brand Spotlight: Sanara Skincare Founder Rebekah Jensen In this sponsored podcast interview I’m welcoming Sanara Skincare founder Rebekah Jensen to share with us her journey to glow.   Rebekah Jensen is the founder of Sanara, a plant-based skincare line that celebrates indigenous Latin American botanicals. Rebekah has been living with Psoriasis since her teens and it wasn’t until her 30’s that she began to understand the impact the products she was putting onto her skin.   She began DIYing her own skincare in her kitchen and eventually sold all her dining room furniture so she could turn it into her test lab. It was through this skin self-discovery that she felt a pull from her ancestors to begin researching ingredients her Latin American ancestors have been using for centuries. It was then Rebekah turned her passion for plant-based skincare into her mission sharing the beautiful botanicals native to Latin America.   She discovered ingredients not commonly used like Cupuacu that is native to the Amazon that is two times more hydrating than Shea butter. Hydration and moisturization is vital to those that live with Psoriasis and it was discoveries like Cupuacu that she knew she was on the right track.   It was years of seeing results and sharing what she was doing that she started Sanara. Sanara comes from the Spanish word, sanará which mean, “you will heal”. Rebekah wishes not only to help bring healing to those with skin conditions or sensitive skin but to share the beautiful botanical bounty of Latin America.   In this episode of the podcast Caroline Frenette talks to Sanara Skincare founder Rebekah Jensen:   How a diagnosis of eczema impacted Rebekah’s journey to glow How Sanara skincare came about The mission behind Sanara Ingredients to avoid if you have eczema or psoriasis Soothing ingredients to favor if you have a flare-up Rebeka’s upcoming partnership with Spas to revolutionaize treatments for people with skin issues   Shop Sanara Skincare: https://www.sanaraskincare.com/   Hang out with Rebecca on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sanaraskincare/   For all other links and resources mentioned in this episode please visit journeytoglow.com/42   Thank you so much for taking the time to share this podcast episode with anyone who is searching for high-quality skincare for psoriasis prone skin!    If you feel called, please leave a review of the podcast on iTunes.
