Bobby talked about two crazy bungee jumping stories including a 4-year-old and one with a woman who jumped without proper equipment. Bobby shares that Amy refused to look him in the eye this morning. Raymundo and Scuba Steve have returned from the Pop-A-Shot competition in Chicago. We hear all about their road trip and how they did in the competition. Bobby answers listener questions about the biggest challenges of doing a daily radio show versus podcasting, why he skipped the ACM Awards this year, and why you rarely hear him on other people's podcasts. He also gets candid about managing a team, helping others grow in their careers, giving raises, and learning that not everyone is motivated by the same goals.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Try That In A Small Town crew dives into the 2024 ACM Awards – the politics, the snubs, and the few moments that actually delivered. From Morgan Wallen being shut out, to Ella Langley's historic run, to Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Zach Top, Kane Brown, Parker McCollum, and more, the guys break down who deserved what and where country music is really headed. They also talk about TikTok-ready story songs like “Choosing Texas,” the future of traditional-leaning artists, how award shows are losing legitimacy with fans, and why the industry keeps cloning the same “country boy” image. The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
Ella Langley didn't just have a good ACM Awards night, she turned it into a full-on statement. We're breaking down the 61st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards from Las Vegas with Shania Twain hosting, Cody Johnson grabbing Entertainer of the Year, and a wave of winners that makes you ask what country music is rewarding right now. We talk through the biggest moments, the funniest bits, and the kinds of wins that feel like the format finally caught up to the fans. Then we zoom out into the bigger music industry trends behind the headlines. Why does “traditional country” suddenly feel like a flex again, and why does that make some Nashville decision-makers nervous? We also hit a fast music news run across country and rock, including reunion-tour culture, documentary buzz, and the ongoing fight for artist ownership after Avenged Sevenfold regains rights to key recordings. If you care about master recordings, catalog value, and creative control, you'll want to hear this part.We keep it interactive with our question of the day: what artist or band had you hooked from the first time you heard them? From Ozzy to Journey to Live and a pile of listener answers, it turns into a real-time map of musical first loves. After that, we rip through the country and rock chart countdowns and finish with trivia night chaos as Tiffany tries to redeem herself against Mark.Subscribe so you don't miss the next live hang, share this with a friend who argues about awards shows, and leave us a review. The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
You know that feeling when the “opening act” walks onstage and suddenly the headliner has a problem? We chase that exact moment from every angle, starting with a listener question that turns into a pile of concert stories, strong opinions, and a few names that surprised us. If you've ever left a show talking more about the first band than the main one, you're going to have a list by the time we're done.We also rewind the genre clock with a fun argument about 1970s rock albums that used to be considered metal. Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Aerosmith, Van Halen and more become a jumping-off point for what “heavy metal” meant back then versus what it means now, from guitar tone and rhythm to vocal intensity and attitude. It's part music history, part “prove it” debate, and it explains why genre labels keep shifting with culture. From there we hit music industry news and charts across country and rock: ACM Awards chatter, festival legacy moments, Luke Combs continuing to stack wins, and why certain artists keep breaking through even when the market feels crowded. We also open the mailbag on topics fans actually care about, like fake industry news, bought streams, fake sold-out shows, influencer numbers, and whether artists lose mystique by being “accessible” online 24/7.We close with a feel-good highlight from Rascaloosa, a songwriter festival built around community and the J Fund, plus what it's like hearing the stories behind the songs while supporting a real cause. Subscribe for more, share this with a concert buddy, and leave a review with the opening act that stole your best show.Episode LinksRocky Rose: https://jayfranze.com/episode8/Chris Franz: https://jayfranze.com/episode27/Jason Hale: https://jayfranze.com/episode55/Dalila Mya: https://jayfranze.com/episode102/Trey Calloway: https://jayfranze.com/episode108/Mark Badolato: https://jayfranze.com/episode140/Stephanie Rabus: https://jayfranze.com/episode149/Mary Kutter: https://jayfranze.com/episode197/Jay Bragg: https://jayfranze.com/episode208/Kieran Robertson: https://jayfranze.com/episode209/Send us Fan MailSupport the showLinksJay Franze: https://jayfranze.com/JFS Countdowns/Playlists: https://jayfranze.com/playlists/ContactContact: https://jayfranze.com/contact/SocialsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jayfranzeYouTube: https://youtube.com/@jayfranzeEverywhere: @jayfranzeServicesServices: https://jayfranze.com/services/BooksBooks: https://jayfranze.com/books/MerchandiseMerchandise: https://jayfranze.com/merchandise/SupportSupport: https://jayfranze.com/support/Sponsor the Show: https://jayfranze.com/sponsor/Shout OutsHigh Mountain Breezes Music: https://highmountainbreezesmusic.com/VR Knives: https://www.facebook.com/VRKnives
Nancy’s mouth and jaw are still hurting from where she got a temporary crown at the dentist last week. The last Monday Morning wakeup call of the school year with 9-year-old Carter Nancy's husband stayed up until midnight to watch the Rousey vs Carano MMA fight and was very upset that it only lasted 17 seconds. Hot Tea: Ella Langley took home all 7 ACM Awards that she was nominated for, and set a record for the most ACM awards won by an artist in one year. There is a rumor that Tom Cruise and Pamela Anderson are dating. A woman had her lawyer make sure she got to keep Netflix access after her divorce. Joey had to go with his kids and nieces to Five Below to look for dumpling toys. They are all the rage with kids right now. Joey tested a laughing challenge on Nancy to see how she could do. Joey went fishing over the weekend and it was a disaster. His wife and son both caught fish at the same time. He was trying to help them both when his pole went flying into the water. A catfish has bit his line and swam away with his pole. Nancy made a deal with her 19 year old that she would loan him $600 if he agreed to not ride his motorcylce. Nancy ended up in the middle of the chaos when the 11 Knox County Sherrif’s Office officers were arrested yesterday. It was all going down in the City County Building when she arrived for Zoning Commission. Joey’s 9-year-old is obsessed with learning about how people died. Yesterday, he wanted to know how members of The Beach Boys died. Nancy thinks Joey needs to get in touch with Dr. Bass from the Body Farm to talk to his son. Hot Tea: Lainey Wilson got married last weekend! The ACM Awards are on Sunday night in Las Vegas. A city has filed a lawsuit against a park director that authorized a helicopter landing at a public park for her daughter’s prom photos. Lucky 7 for $50 to The Diner at Twister’s The Louisville Bats baseball team did a “nothing night.” There were no commentators, announcements, etc. There were only the baseball game and the organist. Nancy kind of feels bad for not helping a man during move out day on campus yesterday. She instead sat there and watched him struggle to pack his car. The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
The ACM Awards are coming, and we're not treating it like background noise. We lay out what to expect from the show in Las Vegas, how to watch on Amazon Prime, and what it means that Shania Twain is hosting for the first time. Then we make our ACM predictions with zero fluff, debating what “Entertainer of the Year” should actually reward, and why the new-vs-established “rivalry” narrative feels more like marketing than reality. From there we hit the week's music news with an eye for what matters: Morgan Wallen teasing a new era, Luke Combs setting huge concert attendance records, and the constant push toward genre blending across country, rock, and everything in between. We also talk about why certain artists thrive right now through touring, streaming, and fan engagement, and how that shifts the industry's gatekeeping. Then we dive into our question of the day: who is the best drummer of all time? We explain what to listen for as a non-drummer, read listener picks, and argue our way to a final ranking that's guaranteed to spark comments. We wrap with charts, birthdays, and a mailbag packed with practical music industry advice, including what to do after a TikTok blow-up, streams vs ticket sales, and how to handle gear failure in a high-pressure studio session. Subscribe for more, share this with a friend who will argue with our drummer list, and leave a review with your pick for best drummer of all time.Episode LinksJim Cristaldi: https://jayfranze.com/episode27/Bob Bullock: https://jayfranze.com/episode28/Dalila Mya: https://jayfranze.com/episode102/Mark Badolato: https://jayfranze.com/episode140/Stephanie Rabus: https://jayfranze.com/episode149/Send us Fan MailSupport the showLinksJay Franze: https://jayfranze.com/JFS Countdowns/Playlists: https://jayfranze.com/playlists/ContactContact: https://jayfranze.com/contact/SocialsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jayfranzeTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@jayfranzeX: https://x.com/jayfranzeYouTube: https://youtube.com/@jayfranzeServicesServices: https://jayfranze.com/services/BooksBooks: https://jayfranze.com/books/MerchandiseMerchandise: https://jayfranze.com/merchandise/SupportSupport: https://jayfranze.com/support/Sponsor the Show: https://jayfranze.com/sponsor/

From the Patriot Mobile studio powered by E|Spaces, the guys dive into a packed episode of Try That In A Small Town. They kick things off by reacting to the latest ACM Award nominations: who belongs, who doesn't, and why politics still run the game. Entertainer, Group, Duo, New Artist, Album, Song, Single, and Musical Event of the Year all get the TTIAST treatment, with plenty of opinions on names like Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, Alabama, Zac Brown Band, Parmalee, and more. Kelly shares a huge personal milestone: after interning for Reba's company back in the 90s, he finally lands his first Reba cut on a song written in 2005. That opens up a conversation about prayer, persistence, and whether Christians should pray about career and business. The guys revisit the backstory of “If I Didn't Love You” (Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood), from losing a duet slot to writing something ultra-specific on a deadline and watching it connect. In the fan-favorite Dip Shitty-its segment, they unload on Masters “pond jumpers,” public bathroom pee etiquette, clapping when servers drop dishes, trash in urinals, rental car abuse, and more everyday behaviors that drive them crazy. They close with a powerful Small Town Hero story from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where a principal charged an armed student, took a bullet, and likely saved lives. It's exactly the kind of “try that in a small town” courage the show was built to highlight. If you like country music, songwriting war stories, small town grit, and unfiltered opinions, this one delivers from front to back. https://blacksheeprecordsmusicllc.comBioWritten by Taylor BerryLAFAYETTE, La. — A lifetime of hard moments and honest reflection comes to thesurface in Blue's debut single, “Summer Nights Goodbye,” arriving March 2026 viaStarlight Media. The Lafayette, Louisiana, songwriter isn't interested in dressing things up. His music is rooted in truth—real experiences, real emotions, and the kind of memories that don'tfade. “Summer Nights Goodbye” leans into that, capturing the quiet, lingering feeling ofloss in a way that feels both personal and familiar, shaped in part by his wife's passing.Recorded at Beaird Music Group in Nashville, the track was brought to life under thedirection of ACM Award-nominated producer Eli Beaird, with engineering by JimDeBlanc. The production is clean and intentional, giving the story space to breathewhile still delivering a sound that sits comfortably within today's country landscape.Blue's writing stands out in its detail. Small, specific moments—things you can see, hear, even smell—bring his songs to life. It's a style he's developed through patienceand persistence, often working through dozens of versions of a track before landing onthe one that feels right.“I just keep going until it sounds like what I hear in my head,” he said. “If it doesn't feelright, I'm not done yet.” That dedication shows in “Summer Nights Goodbye,” a song that doesn't rush its emotions or try to force a moment. Instead, it unfolds naturally, allowing listeners to sitwith it and find their own meaning within it.Early feedback from industry professionals has reinforced Blue's instinct for detail-driven storytelling. During a recent listening session with a Nashville publisher, BeairdMusic Group's Aaron Beaird and Concord Records executive Matt Turner noted thecinematic quality of his writing, pointing to the way small details bring his songs to life. The response offered encouragement to continue refining his voice and approach.Musically, Blue blends elements of pop country with red dirt grit and a touch of soul, creating a sound that feels both grounded and accessible. There are shades of artistslike Morgan Wallen, Tyler Childers and HARDY in his approach, but his focus remainson telling stories that come from a real place. At its core, his music is about connection. Blue writes for people who have been throughsomething—those navigating grief, change or simply trying to make sense of life'sheavier moments. There's a sense of resilience woven throughout his work, even in itsmost emotional points.“Summer Nights Goodbye” marks the beginning of what Blue hopes will be a lastingbody of work—songs people return to, not just when they're looking for something tolisten to, but when they're looking to feel understood.About BlueBlack Sheep Records Music LLC is proud to present Blue, a songwriter from Lafayette,Louisiana, who is changing the face of country music. Operating under one rule—“tellthe truth and let it bleed” Blue creates a sound that blends pop country, redemptionsoul and red dirt grit. Known for his dedication to the craft, he often works throughdozens of versions of a song to get it just right. His music combines the hook-drivenappeal of artists like Morgan Wallen with the honesty of Tyler Childers and HARDY,delivering songs that resonate with listeners who are both broken and strong. With hisdebut single “Summer Nights Goodbye,” released in March 2026 by Starlight Media,Blue is turning personal experience into music that doesn't just tell stories—it makespeople feel them.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

Twenty-three seasons of American Idol later, a weird question still cuts through the noise: how many winners do we actually remember? We put “most memorable” on trial and rank every champion from the names that vanish the second the confetti falls to the artists who still feel like cultural landmarks. Along the way, we talk about why “winning” and “lasting” are two different skills, how contracts can shape careers, and why the audience sometimes loves the competition more than the artist's post-show music. Then we shift into a packed country music news rundown with the stories we can't stop thinking about. Ella Langley's surge with “Choose In Texas” sparks a bigger conversation about label friction, co-producing, and why fans are tired of songs that all sound the same. We also hit the ACM Awards performance lineup, Ray Stevens' recovery after a serious fall, Morgan Wallen launching his own SiriusXM channel, and Chris Young building a Nashville sports bar that turns fandom into a full experience. We keep it interactive with the question of the day (songs with women's names in the title), run through the latest chart moves and indie chart picks, and time-travel to 1987 for a fast, fun look at what ruled country and rock. The mailbag closes it out with real talk on playlists, industry mimicry, and a producer's answer to the question every creator faces: when do you stop tweaking a track before it goes lifeless?Subscribe for more music news, country charts, and behind-the-scenes industry talk, then share this with a friend and leave us a review.
