W „Muzycznych podróżach po Europie” poznaliśmy główne punkty na turystycznej mapie wybrzeża Algarve: Przylądek Świętego Wincentego, czyli najbardziej wysuniętą na południowy zachód część Europy, przylądek Sagres i klify Ponta da Piedade obok Lagos, a także miasta Tavira i Faro. Powracając do regionu Alentejo zatrzymaliśmy się w miejscowościach Mertola i Serpa. W regionie Beira zwiedziliśmy Coimbrę, miasto narodzin sześciu królów Portugalii z najstarszym uniwersytetem na liście UNESCO. Byliśmy w Aveiro, „portugalskiej Wenecji”, w Viana do Castelo i Ponte de Lima, a w Parku Narodowym Peneda-Geres szukaliśmy starych, kamiennych spichlerzy. Poznaliśmy też legendę związaną z kogucikiem z Barcelos. Gościem Jerzego Jopa była Danuta Rasała.

The Toledo, Ohio native played professionally with Sagres NUC, one of the top teams in the LNA, the top professional league in Switzerland. During the 2011-2012 season, she was match MVP three times, and helped out the Neuchatel, Switzerland club to finish second in the league. Sagres also reached the Swiss Cup final and the quarterfinals of the CEV Challenge Cup, a European-wide championship. Returning to Neuchatel the following season, she was awarded match MVP five times and the team finished third place in the LNA. In 2010, she competed for VT Aurubis Hamburg, a member of Germany's 14-team premier league, the Bundesliga. During her brief stint in Germany, she received MVP honors during two matches. Prior to her professional career, Herman-Kimball trained with the U.S. National Team during the summer of 2009 and competed with the U.S. National Team on their Tour of China during February of 2010. She also competed with the U.S. A2 Team, earning Most Valuable Player honors at the Adult Open Championship in 2008. Herman-Kimball , a two-time All-American, led the Bobcats to four successful seasons during her collegiate career, including three Mid American Conference regular season championships, three MAC tournament championships and four NCAA tournament berths. She was named the MAC Player of the Year as a junior and senior and also earned MAC Freshman of the Year accolades during her rookie campaign. The four-time first team All-MAC selection left Ohio University as the OU and MAC all-time leader in kills, as well as OU's all-time leader in points and attacks. Herman-Kimball , who earned Academic All-MAC honors three times during her collegiate career, graduated with a Bachelor of Health Administration from Ohio University in June 2010. She was inducted into the MAC Hall of Fame in 2020.
Escuchar audio

Being an aficionado of fishing ports, my visit to Baleeira in Sagres was a revelation. As I immersed myself in its ambiance, I became mesmerized by the symphony of various breeds of Atlantic seagulls, gracefully scavenging the remnants of mussels being cleaned by two diligent fishermen, who maintained the rhythm of daily life in Portugal in perfect harmony. This is the Brussels Beer City Podcast Diaspora Season: Chapter 2 - Big Trouble in Little Kortrijk? For almost 40 years a small corner of central Brussels - comprising the Antoine Dansaertstraat, the Vlaamsesteenweg (the “Flemish Carriageway”) and the perpendicular streets that criss-cross them - with its bars and shops and cultural lodestones, has been a linguistic enclave for the city's Dutch-speaking “diaspora”. But the forces that made this neighbourhood a creative centre of Flemish life in Brussels look to be waning, and the Dansaertwijk's grip on Brussels' Dutch-speaking imagination might be loosening.Click here to read the accompanying article. The Brussels Beer City Podcast: Diaspora Season is about Brussels' immigrant communities and the places they love to drink. This is the Brussels Beer City Podcast Diaspora Season: Chapter 1 - Ireland's Unofficial Embassies. The centrality of the pub to Irish social life - and by extension, the pint too - may be clichéd, but it's not any less true. In fact, it might even be more true for Ireland's emigrants. In Brussels, though it may not hold the global allure it once did, the Irish pub remains a fixture of the Irish emigrant experience. Everyone's got their favourite pub, and their own pub stories. Including the Irish ambassador. From ice cold Sagres with piglet sandwiches and pintjes in bruine kroegen, to creamy pints, fried plantains, and more, the podcast will explore the drinking cultures of just a small slice of Brussels' diaspora communities.75% of Brussels' population have foreign roots, and the city has long exerted a strong gravitational pull on new arrivals to Belgium. In the white heat of the industrial revolution, Flemish farm labourers were lured to the city with promises of factory jobs. Later, their 20th century successors came from the southern mediterranean and Anatolia to build motorways and metrolines. They were followed in turn by bureaucrats populating Brussels' European quarter, and the descendants of colonial central Africa seeking refuge from civil war. Each wave of new arrivals has also brought with it new kinds of places to drink - Asturian cantinas, Roman trattorias, Turkish Pide places, Irish pubs, and Congolese ngandas - to name just a few.Over the course of this new season, and in a series of accompanying articles at beercity.brussels, the Brussels Beer City Podcast will dig into the stories of these community spaces, and talk about how a city's drinking culture is more than just the sum of its breweries and craft beer bars. In the company of the people that know them best, the podcast will explore how these places came to be, how they've adapted as Brussels has changed, and what place they still have as the city's demographics continue to evolve, and new communities are constantly added to the mix. The Brussels Beer City Podcast: Diaspora season, launching on all good podcast platforms July 7.

Escuchar audio
Welcome our first ever Family Travel special. I had my first child back in October last year, and it's been you the listeners who have reached out to me in such overwhelming numbers asking for a dedicated family travel episode because there isn't a ton of advice out there for new parents travelling with a baby, where to go what to pack - it can be quite overwhelming. So here we are! Obviously, this episode might not appeal to everyone. So if you're one of those regulars, please tune in next week, we'll be back with a great celeb guest. So how's this going to work? My current plan is to release a family focussed episode each season that loosely tracks my own experience as a mother. Today we'll be chatting with a bit of a focus on travelling with a baby up to around 6 months. Next season will then probably focus on 6 months to the toddler phase and so on. It won't follow the usual 7 chapters but focus on things like travel tips, the best recommendations and bucket list destinations for that specific age group. I'm delighted to be joined by two seasoned family travellers to guide me through this. Kate Leahy is an acclaimed travel journalist who spent ten years working in-house at The Sunday Times and now contributes to The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Times, and much more. Prior to a career in journalism, Kate spent five years working as British Airways cabin crew, often observing the logistics of parents travelling with children. Now mum to two-year-old twins, she's putting everything she has learned along the way into making her own family travel memories.Joining her is Frankie Collinson, who is the co-founder of the family travel start-up Tiny Travelship which provides vetted recommendations across all price ranges for both family specific and family friendly spots across the globe. They've just launched a new booking website and their Instagram has inspired a lot of my own Family Travel Bucket List!Destination RecapGreeceMonastery Estate Retreat, Crete, GreeceCaserio del Mirador, Alicante, SpainAlmyra, CyprusDaios Cove, Crete, GreecePuglia, Italy Ikos ResortsMartinhal, Sagres, PortugalMartinhal, Lisbon, Portugal Marbella Club, SpainCretan Malia Park, Crete, GreeceCosta RicaCasa Pineta, Elba Island, ItalyAustraliaWith thanks to...Roarsome - Head to roarsome.com and use the code TRAVELDIARIES for 20% off all clothing, events and adventures in 2023.Forte Village, Sardinia - Forte Village is the perfect place for your holiday in Sardinia, a beautiful corner of paradise Thanks so much for listening today. is there a trip you've dreamt of doing for a long time? This week we talk with Tomás Corôa, who since boyhood dreamt of getting outside and exploring his home country of Portugal. A break in jobs meant he had 2 months free, and while having no experience in long-distance walking, he decided to walk the length of Portugal, from Sagres in the South to Caminha in the North. This is not a signed route, and Tomás had to experiment to find the route some days, while other days he could follow more established routes like the Camino Portugués. If you want to see what this incredible route was like, check out the video Tomás has put on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxVBkEayERc.
