Yes, the Royals are fun this year and much better. It's also true that they are not ready to be among baseball's elite teams as we saw in game one against Cleveland when the Royals just gagged away their best shot to make a statement. Kansas Republicans send a perfect letter to Chiefs owner Clark Hunt with an offer he can't refuse for a new stadium. IF the bond issue passes during a special session June 18, it will be full speed ahead for the Chiefs to relocate to the Sunflower State with the best offer any NFL owner ever received. Former Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has a sweet new gig at NBC. Joe Biden's state of mind is fading fast and now media outlets on the left are all over him. We are BACK in March Madness, where all of our movies have a true crime twist. This week we are covering, I Love You To Death. It stars a very bronze Kevin Kline as Joey, a philandering father and husband to Rosalie, played by Tracey Ullman. Rosalie is devoted to Joey until she catches him in the act, then she wants revenge and will look anywhere to get it. In this episode: we overuse heavy air quotes when talking about "fixing pipes" and "tool boxes", and Tamara forgets what decade she's in while Corinne explains the proper way to use a baseball bat as a weapon. The plot twist at the end of this movie has us tickled enough to say 'I Love You To Death' and we hope you agree.

For centuries, Christians and other theists have utilized cosmological arguments to support the proposition that God exists. However, Justin from "Bullet Holes in the Bible" insists that Christians who employ such arguments are guilty of "doublethink." He illustrates this with the simple question: "Who created God?" With this question, has Justin successfully dismantled the very foundation of religious belief? In this short video, we discuss why this question misses the point. https://davidwilber.com/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/david-wilber/support
Since the 1970s explosive debate has raged about the origin of some holes. The holes in question are in a pair of pillars at Newports Westgate Hotel. Some say they're bullet holes from a Chartist uprising, others that they're just from old railings... Finally after decades of uncertainty Oliver Blackmore - collections manager at the local museum believes he has the answer...
A case that beggars belief. How does a detective cope with such a scene, and complete an investigation when having to take it all in? On September 2nd, 2001, a father murdered his three children. Jackson, six years old, Taylah, 11 months, and Mikaylah, 11 weeks. Still to this day, police don't have a motive. But what did the investigation look like, and how does a detective cope? Former Detective Carla Tomadini is an example of exceptional police work, and someone who deserves the recognition she's received. Now lecturing at Charles Sturt University, Carla spent nearly two decades in the police before moving into the DPP as a solicitor. Her career is immense, and one host Brent Sanders goes through in intricate detail. If this content affected you, the number for Lifeline is 13 11 14. if you're like me (and I suspect a few of you are), you've had your fill with biopics / miniseries chronicling the pseudo-genius/pathological bullshit of modern times' more notorious entrepreneurs. Elisabeth Holmes, the jagbag from Uber, whoever invented the Blackberry, this fucking Beanie Baby movie (?!), you know THEY EVEN MADE A FILM ABOUT THE GUY WHO INVENTED THE INTERMITTENT WINDSHIELD WIPER.I guess what I'm asking is, with all of these projects with questionable entertainment / educational value, why has no one attempted to get a film or series off the ground about the person responsible for THE DONUT HOLE. I mean, fuck off Robert Oppenheimer, let's talk about an innovation that actually benefitted humanity. And if there's some dispute over who was responsible / who gets the money, hey, even better. JUST ADDS TO THE LORE. It can be like “Melvin & Howard” for the modern age (even better if you can find a part for Mary Steenburgen somewhere, she's great in everything)

Justin with Bullet Holes in the Bible joins Joshed Raw (Josh) on Gods of Tomorrow to discuss his wild journey from a former messianic Torah-observant Bible teacher to an agnostic deconstructionist. He shares his years of study and scholarship, especially around the formation of the early church and its misappropriation of prophecy. In this episode, Josh and Justin talk about the "borrowed" influences from Plato, Dionysus, the Orphics, Euripedes, and more. They conclude the conversation by talking about Jewish prophecies and law, and why Jesus could not have been the Messiah. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/godsoftomorrow/support

When studying the stellar stream GD-1, Harvard astronomer Ana Bonaca made a literally enormous discovery: Cosmic "bullet holes" in our galaxy, several light years across. Something with around a million times the mass of our sun has punched enormous holes in our galaxy. What is the "bullet" here? Is it a supermassive black hole, of the kind we only see in the center of a galaxy? Or is it a cluster of stars? Or is it something even stranger, a "bullet" made of dark matter? 00.06.26 What are star clusters? 00. 08.00 Is the milky way just a big star cluster? No, because the Milky way is bound together with a dark matter halo. 00.10.15The Milky Way has more mass than its amount of stars should indicate. So what is the extra, “invisible” mass? This is Ana's favorite solution to what the cosmic bullets can be … 01.01.04So, is earth safe from cosmic bullets?

Born on the mean streets and raised by his mother, a local drug queen. After his mother was killed by rival drug lords, he started selling drugs in middle school. He told his grandma he was in after school programs, but in actuality he was slinging dope and carrying a starter pistol. The jig is up when he gets caught carrying his gun to school by the metal detectors at the entrance. From this point on, he straight up told his grandma that he sells drugs and carries a gun, in school. He drops out of school early, mainly due to racking in over $10K in monthly drug profits.Like most budding artists, he starts out by performing in a friends basement and fell in love with the art form. If you grew up in Baton Rouge you either had field trips or family outings to tour what everyone calls the "new" State Capital building (even though it was built in 1932). Still the tallest capital building in the U.S., it was built by Gov Huey Long who was assassinated there after a speech in 1935. Sam wonders if the holes in the marble were caused by bullets as some tour guides have explained, or if those stories have taken on a new life over the decades.

Zanief Washington has been numb to the sound of gunfire since he was six, when a stray bullet smashed through his living room window in Albany and lodged itself in the wall while he was playing a video game. Now 19, he walks for hours around the city each day, trying to escape the poverty and gun violence that plagues his neighborhood. Times Union reporter Eduardo Medina recently spent time with Zanief, and learned about the young man's hopes and dreams of lifting himself up to make it in the music business. On this episode of the Eagle, Eduardo reflects on his experience getting to know the young man through his reporting. Also on this episode, education reporter Rachel Silberstein talks about how school districts are scrambling to beef up security for virtual learning, and Times Union Editor Casey Seiler analyzes this week's top headlines.
Season 3 Episode 4 of TSORR went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 7pm on 10 September 2020. Technically it was the best yet of the Rebel Rock Radio shows, other than the small issue of the system crashing in the middle of Bullet Holes by Bush. You won't get the 3 minutes gap the live listeners suffered through on the podcast though, that's been fixed. On the plus side the microphone quality is way better and now its just a bit more fine-tuning on the music to voice volume balance. The show kicks off with Judas Priest's ‘All Guns Blazing' and they blazed pretty much for the rest of the night. That was followed up in no particular order by some Motörhead, Clutch, and W.A.S.P. We took a trip to Aussie with Cold Chisel and Rose Tattoo. South Africa was represented by Dan Patlansky, L.A. Cobra, and The Black Cat Bones. L.A. Cobra's ‘Rock ‘n' Roll Pretoria' was a lot of fun. It took a while to get to the heavy stuff but we finally took a listen to a track off L' Enfant Sauvage by Gojira and then close to the end of the show we had Machine Head with A Nation on Fire which felt pretty apt right now. There were lots of neat little pairings throughout the show; Black Star Riders with Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin with Greta Van Fleet & Slash with Alter Bridge. I enjoyed taking in a blast from the SA past with ‘The Man in My Shoes' by Stringray and Piet Botha always sounds fantastic with his vicious attack on the way things were in ‘Goeienag Generaal'. There was plenty of support from listeners and Pages Pub in Benoni, hopefully, we'll get more pubs around the world making Rebel Rock Radio their permanent Station. The highlight of the show was realizing that exceeding the official TSORR timeslot and having the broadcast link drop at exactly 22h00 doesn't mean the show has to stop and that podcast listeners can get a secret bonus track not heard on the live show. Kid Rock pioneered the way with ‘Devil Without a Cause'. Artists featured: The Black Cat Bones, Gojira, Mott the Hoople, Dan Patlansky, The Killers, Judas Priest, Tom Keifer, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crüe, Slash, Clutch, Alter Bridge, Black Star Riders, Cold Chisel, LA Guns, LA Cobra, Bush, Smashing Pumpkins, Twisted Sister, The Monks, Rose Tattoo, W.A.S.P., Ugly Kid Joe, Motörhead, Accept, Danko Jones, Dave Hause, Phil Rudd, Kid Rock, Bullet Boys, Thin Lizzy, Badlands, Piet Botha, Stingray, Greta Van Fleet, The Clash & Machine Head.

Scott welcomes back Gavin Rossdale from Bush. They chat about life in quarantine, the release of his new album, The Kingdom, and speak about all things from music to love. They talk about growth in the time of Covid-19, touring, and interesting ways to get music out there now that everyone needs to reinvent themselves in this day and age. Scott and Gavin go through tracks on the record, like “Bullet Holes,” “Blood River,” and “Undone,” then touch base on a rage of subjects from Keanu Reeves, the use of Gavin’s song in the John Wick soundtrack, and their latest livestream. They take on the concept of social responsibility during covid, and Gavin answers some fan questions about finding love again, being single, and advice for musicians wanting to break into the music business these days.
As per the title of the episode, today we get to understand the concept behind the name bandaids over bullet holes.

It's hip to complain about gentrifiers. At the same time, it's hip to be one. But what is gentrification precisely--and more importantly, what are its causes and effects? Does gentrification have a moral valence? In other words: is gentrification a good thing or a bad thing? Can it even be classified along moral lines? And what is the effect of gentrification on urban authenticity? In the main segment of episode 6, Dane and Kevin cite the work of Richard Rothstein, Peter Marcuse, and more to break down (and cringe at) the phenomenon of gentrification. As for the opening segment: The Great British Breaking Show is a grotesque display of over-consumption, and Dane rants about the news-making accusation that air conditioning is sexist. Gavin Rossdale, frontman of Bush and friend of WMMR, called Pierre Robert after the single "Bullet Holes" was featured in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. They talked about the making of that track and its video, what to expect from the new Bush album (due out this fall!), the anniversary of Sixteen Stone, and when the band will return to Philadelphia!

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale rings up Kyle Meredith to discuss his reunion with Constantine co-star Keanu Reeves. Together, they discuss the new John Wick 3 soundtrack, particularly how lead single "Bullet Holes" traces back to Sixteen Stone deep cuts "The Bomb" and "Testosterone". On a similar note, Rossdale considers the album's 25th anniversary, revisiting his time opening for David Bowie while singing about him every night in "Everything Zen". Jamie Jones Coleman is a trauma surgeon. As she puts it, most of what she does is "fixing holes in people", but that massively down-plays the complexity, skill and adrenaline of her job. The bleep goes, the team swings into action, and all hands are on deck to save a life. It sounds thrilling, but Jamie juggles this with being a wife to a former NFL player turned lawyer, a mother to two little boys, an international public speaker, and a writer. She has a successful blog with a readership of over 2 million, and has contributed to the HuffPost and US News. She is open on the challenges a female surgeon faces, the joys and challenges of motherhood and how writing allows her to bring a more creative aspect to her work. In this episode we discuss: - Jamie's upbringing and how her grandmother and other women in her family shaped her education and her goals - Being a "glorified plumber" (her words, not mine!) and why she enjoys the practical challenge of surgery - Being a mother and a surgeon, and the struggle of the juggle! - Why Jamie thinks being a mother makes her a better surgeon - The media's pitching of women with children and those without against one another, and why defining women as a stay-at-home-mother or a working mother or a childless woman is potentially harmful - How she keeps her career fresh and avoids burnout in a job that is incredibly stressful - Dealing with failure and learning from mistakes - Women supporting other women in work and beyond - Her writing, and how that took off initially Where to find Jamie: Website: https://jjcolemanmd.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamie-jones-coleman-258497128/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/@JJColemanMD/ Follow us for more: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/smashingtheceiling/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/smashingceiling Facebook: www.facebook.com/smashingtheceiling

Mary Gauthier didn't pick up a guitar until later in life, and although finding success as a Boston restaurateur, certain events forced a change. Ten albums later she continues to tell stories of her past, her own healing, and the search for honesty and truth. Mary has lived through some challenging experiences and now she shares the songwriting pen and paper with US Veterans to tell their own stories through the Songwriting With:Soldiers program. We talked with Mary prior to her acoustic show at Boston’s brand new City Winery. Afterwards we were fortunate and thankful to meet with a US Marine, veteran Bill Auger, who shared the story of his first songwriting experience with professional songwriter Darden Smith, and how the experience and the songs changed his life for the better. Bill is joined by Songwriting With:Soldiers co-founder Mary Judd, who talks about the genesis, growth and unique aspects of their mission. A look at how we can understand success and failure better with some help from really smart people in the thick of WWII.
Singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier has had her songs recorded by the likes by Blake Shelton, Jimmy Buffett, and Tim McGraw and has made several appearances at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, but I was particularly impressed to learn that Bob Dylan knows Mary's story and featured her work in one of his music showcases. One of the causes that Mary is passionate about is helping veterans to work through the trauma that they faced in combat. She has partnered with SongwritingWith:Soldiers to collaborate with veterans to write songs that explore the emotional truths of their war-time experiences. This cause is so important to Mary that she partnered with Veterans Airlift Command to fly in veteran Josh Geartz so that perform with her at the Grand Ole Opry. This connection can save lives. It literally can save lives.” - Mary Gauthier Mary's upcoming album, Rifles & Rosary Beads, comes out in January 2018, and all the songs in it are co-written with veterans connected to SongwritingWith:Soldiers. Mary and her team graciously shared "Bullet Holes in the Sky," one of the songs from the new album, which you can hear it at the end of our episode. Some of the things that we discuss include How Mary's early traumas shaped her development as an artist Mary's approach to getting her songs on the radar of prominent recording artists A technique for getting laconic veterans to open up about the struggles they've faced Why taking care of our veterans is a unifying issue across the political spectrum How can artists effectively speak up about challenging social issues Finding success in the music industry while staying sober Learning to listen for the God lines # Want to hear another veteran-related episode? Well folks, my guest this week was supposed to be writer David Gallaher. We had a fantastic chat about his comic, High Moon, a supernatural western starring a werewolf. Unfortunately, when I went to edit the interview, half of the audio was crazy corrupted. This is really unfortunate, because David is a great guy and we had a super fun chat about his book. The first volume of High Moon is called Bullet Holes and Bite Marks and it debuts on October 17th. It features amazing artwork by Steve Ellis, who draws monsters like no other. High Moon is a trilogy and the second volume is set for release in May 2018. So, what am I to do without a guest this week? Well, I did attend New York Comic Con last week and I did a few interviews from the show floor. I was planning on dropping these as smaller bonus episodes throughout the next couple weeks, but instead, I’m putting them all in here. There are three total. First is Dave Scheidt and Scoot McMahon, the creators of a new all ages horror comic called Wrapped Up from Lion Forge Comics. The first issue came out this week and it’s really fun. It follows a mummy named Milo as he gets into all kinds of spooky misadventures. If you want a peek at the comic, there will be a special free issue available for Halloween ComicFest at the end of the month at participating comic shops. The second interview is with writers Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer. Their book, Calla Cthulhu is a coming-of-age adventure story currently available from Dark Horse Comics. The third and final interview is with Jamie Madrox and Monoxide, otherwise known as Twiztid. They were on hand as they’re starring in a new one-shot comic called Haunted High-Ons from Source Point Press. The book is written by Dirk Manning and illustrated by Marianna Pescosta and Alessandro De Fornasari. It debuted at the show and is currently available at the Twiztid Shop and the Source Point Press site. Colin Anderson and Candice Chetta are taking on a pretty heavy topic in this episode of the Garbage Barge — we're talking about gentrification. This past month, there have been two fairly viral stories centering around a particular neighborhood in Brooklyn that Candice and Colin hold very close to their hearts. We're talking about Summerhill … Continue reading "Ep11: Gentrification, Crown Heights, Hipster Bull, and Bullet Holes"
Instead of one long story, the 25th episode of East Bay Yesterday features four shorties. In one interview, a man reminisces about using very unusual bait while fishing with his grandpa at the Berkeley pier. In another, a longtime Oakland postal employee recalls his close calls with stray gunfire. From underground circuses to sideshows, this episode compiles quirky memories into an audio time capsule of East Bay history. Support for this episode was provided by my dentist, Dr. Curtis Perry. You can find information about his dental practice at: http://www.oaklandsmiles.com
A special episode recorded at the 2017 Pennsylvania College English Association Conference. Danny Anderson, Christopher Burlingame, and Jessica Jost-Costanzo each deliver a short academic paper about trigger warnings, safe spaces, and teaching violent graphic novels. What are the powers and limits of teaching violent graphic literature?

As promised just (barely) in time for Halloween...I'm giving away my personal recipe for creating really cheap, easy and realistic bullet hole FX. This is an early sneak preview from the upcoming narrative filmmaking book, "The Down and Dirty DV Filmmaking Guide", dropping from Focal Press next winter. With a little modification, pretty much this same technique can be used to create all kinds of realistic looking wounds...gashes, cuts, open sores, flesh wounds, deep scrapes, festering boils, warts, vampire bites, werewolf wounds, and mongoose scratches...that's all I can think of at the moment, but you can break out the liquid latex and make-up and use your own imagination. Happy Halloween everybody!
