There's fears parents aren't teaching their children basic skills like talking, eating, or using the toilet. The Auckland Primary Principals' Association reports 87 percent of schools say children now need more support than ever before. 92 percent say new entrants don't know the letters in their own name. Psychologist Sara Chatwin says it raises questions about what's going on at home. "And then I think it speaks to how important good quality early childhood education is - in that it's really helping those kids transition from that state to school." A child psychologist thinks social media use is hindering young men from making friends. Data from Outward Bound shows one in four young men tell them they have no close friends. Psychologist Sara Chatwin says that's abnormal against historic behavioural patterns. But she says her profession's seeing the trend firsthand and social media is making the young passive and isolated. "It means that they're just sitting there and looking at stuff and roaming around and allowing algorithms to lead them down rabbit holes. They're not actively seeking out friendships." One of the hottest topics of the modern era is kids and smartphones. As we've seen more of the what the internet can do (for better or worse) they seem like an essential part of life. Wallet, Keys, Phone, that's what you always keep on you. A first phone is typically only for texting mum and dad, so why do you need a device that has the capability for so much more? Guido CeronettiStefano Faravelli vive e lavora a Torino. Quaderno indiano. The self-inflicted deaths of six Northland young people reveals dangerous flaws in our suicide prevention system. An inquiry by Northland Coroner Tania Tetitaha into the deaths calls for a single, coordinated system. The youths had worked with up to 17 agencies - that hadn't seemed to identify or follow up on their need for support. Mindworks psychologist Sara Chatwin told Andrew Dickens we don't need more thinking groups and documentation, but rather people who have the skills and willingness to deal with these issues. The journey of a rock star is a “…long and winding road…” and Curt has traveled to the end and back. However, with every journey there is a crossroad where one needs to choose which way to go, in Curt's case it was the choice of continuing the journey or pulling off and being a family man…in this caae it was an easy choice. He relives his journey with us and tells us how he got his start, the different bands he had the pleasure of playing with, the different venues he played (from all the clubs in Hollywood, to Lalapalooza, and touring with Joe Walsh). Chad was in his comfort zone when it came to music and he and Curt reminisce about years past and the different musicians, friends and bands; it was fun to listen to both of them go back and fourth about it all. We, know “Chaddy" as the family man “Curt" who is an all around humble genuine human, loving father to Bailey and Coby and loving husband to his wonderful wife April. Curt talks about the tail end of his touring days and his peek behind the proverbial curtain, while traveling with Joe Walsh, and how the decision to step off the tour bus to be there for his family was an easy one. With his kids grown Curt journey is continuing on and the band is back together. The ambitions to get signed are a thing of the past, now he and his band mates are all there for the fun of it…I look forward to the reunion show!! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/drinkinthinkin/message
