Ellen Greenberg Case Reopened: Pennsylvania DA Reviews New Evidence in 2011 Death

Nearly 14 years after the controversial death of Ellen Greenberg, found with 20 stab wounds in her Philadelphia apartment, the case is receiving renewed attention. The Chester County District Attorney's office, which took over the case in 2022, is actively reviewing the investigation and could soon provide updates. A spokeswoman for the Chester County DA's office confirmed that detectives and attorneys are working on the case. "It's all dependent on where our detectives are at in the investigation," Dana Moore said, noting that an update could come "in the coming weeks or months." The case, initially ruled a homicide before being controversially changed to a suicide, has been surrounded by questions. A Pennsylvania woman, who identified herself as an amateur cold-case investigator, provided PennLive with new information. After reviewing hours of surveillance footage from the Venice Loft apartments in the Manayunk neighborhood, where Ellen lived, she claims to have identified a "mystery man" behaving suspiciously around the time of Ellen's death. The woman reported that the man, captured on video between 4 p.m. and 6:10 p.m., appeared “nervously bouncing around” before heading upstairs when Ellen's fiancé, Sam Goldberg, was at the gym. She described seeing the man come downstairs with injuries, head to the bathroom, and later return with something large hidden under his clothes. Afterward, he picked up a swipe card dropped by Goldberg without examining it. "He didn't look at it to see what it was, but he checked to see if anyone saw him," she told PennLive. This timeline and related images were turned over to the DA's office two years ago. Moore did not comment directly on this new evidence but emphasized, "Our detectives and attorneys have been on this case... Every lead – everything -- is being taken very seriously." The Chester County DA's investigation marks the first official review of the case since the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office, under then-AG Josh Shapiro, completed an “exhaustive review” in 2022. Despite their efforts, which included new forensic analysis, the AG's office ultimately handed off the case due to a conflict of interest. For Ellen's parents, Joshua and Sandee Greenberg, the AG's review was insufficient. They have spent $700,000 on their own investigation, challenging the suicide ruling. Their fight for “Justice for Ellen” has led to two civil cases. One of these cases, now before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, could set a precedent for families challenging manner of death rulings made by coroners. The Greenbergs' legal battle also includes allegations of a conspiracy between Philadelphia authorities to cover up what they believe was Ellen's murder. "We hate to leave Harrisburg," Sandee told PennLive, explaining that financial pressures from their private investigation forced them to sell their home and relocate to Florida. Ellen, a 27-year-old elementary school teacher, was found stabbed in the kitchen of her locked apartment during a snowstorm. Despite the severity of her injuries, Philadelphia detectives quickly classified her death as a suicide, and her apartment was never treated as a crime scene. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner initially ruled her death a homicide, only to change it to suicide months later without further explanation. The Greenbergs hope the Chester County DA will bring the closure they've sought for over a decade, with Ellen's mother stating, "We're still fighting for our daughter." So in this podcast episode. Oh my goodness, we have a very special episode for you today because I get to share with you, my dear sister, friend, Goddess Dana, more from inspiredlightwork.com. She and I have known each other for years and years of well over a decade now, and we have both been growing and growing in spirit and business together. It is such a pleasure to get to share her with you. She is an incredible spiritual director. She focuses on spiritual leaders, leadership development in businesses, writes that you're able to bring more spirit and goddess energy into your work goddess Dana. Welcome to the podcast dear. Dana: Thank you for having me. Victoria, I'm so excited to chat with you, as usual, and to meet your journey partners audience. Hello, fans! Victoria: At last, at last. Oh, this is so good. So here's the thing. We know each other very well, right? I know you're freaking awesome and you know the same about me, but this may be the very first time that someone is getting to see you here about you or in the work that you do. So if you could, in your own words, please share with us what exactly it is you do, but especially what are the three things that you're known for? Could you tell us? Dana: That's fine. So I help passionate women business owners lean into their leadership potential to achieve the next level of business and life. Yes, it's so much fun. Who knew? Like leadership and spirituality. But what I do and how I do that is by a very unique combination of combining personal energy management practices, reiki, meditation, self pleasure, time blocking, your personal energy management practices, combined with your more traditional strategic planning and organizational management skills as well as business owners. We need both. When we are building a business and running a business, we are building ourselves and learning how to run ourselves more efficiently. So those two combining pieces help my clients to have more clarity as they are pursuing their goals, but also the confidence that they need to go for them. That's where we can get stuff right. So I'll tell you, you had asked what are the three things that I am known for? So, one, I am known as being a mother goddess. It's not typical in your business. Right. But I bring with me to my business, my joy and my passion. And one my number one passion is being a mother, bringing these amazing children into the world, getting to watch them grow and be a part of their growth is such a blessing because I work in leadership. I mean, rearing children is all about leadership. Right. And we often know we can encounter people in the business world who sometimes need a mama. They need some mother love. Right? Or just redirection or called back in to a central place. I love it. I love mothering my children and one mother and others children. And I love being that nurturing presence for my clients as well. So I'm a Mother Goddess, call me when you need. I am known for spiritual leadership and spiritual leadership. If you want to look that up, you've got a lot of Christian based church. Your congregational program thrived on building spiritual leaders, but I like to focus on what spiritual leadership means in your business. - Let's talk about it! Feel like you've got a Money Block stopping or slowing your business growth?  Need help clearing that block, so that you can get your next-level abundance breakthrough?  Take the assessment at http://www.victoriawhitfield.com/quiz to find out, and apply for a Breakthrough Call with me!

In this episode of The Revenue Accelerator Podcast, we have invited Dana Moore. Dana is a Reiki Master who helps small business solopreneurs and entrepreneurs be spiritually grounded in order for them to scale their businesses while maintaining a sense of limitless possibility. Today, Dana shares the importance of being grounded, knowing what you want, and keeping yourself in check. When is the right time to evolve?[02:10]Dana finds it ironic that chaos is the main reason why people evolve. The constant questioning if you can still do more but hesitant if you are doing the right thing is the reason why you need to evolve.State of Lack vs. Desire[03:39]Maintaining yourself in the space of indecision is the culprit of why you hold yourself back. Stop being passive-aggressive because indecision means no action taken, and without action taken, there's no results to see. It is crucial to identify your goals, talk about your core values, and see if your actions align with your core values. Why should you be connected to your “why”?[05:39]Desire does not equate to having action taken. If you keep yourself in a state of stress and conflict, nothing works out because you are imbalanced and off-track. The structure is still there, but it's not in the right path. Aligning your core values to your goals, mission, and vision are important.[08:11]Understanding what drives your team sets a leader from the rest. That's the time where you can showcase to them that you are a capable leader who can appreciate their efforts and get the best out of them.Dealing with Chaotic Energies[09:15]Pause, breathe, and remove yourself from that chaotic space. Ground yourself to get back to your sense of well-being. If things went wrong, acknowledge it and address it appropriately. Come together with your team and solve the problem altogether as one unit. How to recenter yourself[12:34]Go outside and walk. Be with nature. Drink room temperature water or hot tea. Use that time to take a moment for yourself and recenter. Pause, breathe, and assess yourself. Most importantly, do things that make you feel good to reset your energy.[17:10]Be your authentic self. There are millions of marketers out there but the reason why people choose someone is because they do something unique and it speaks to them. Have a niche audience and take your experience and passion to connect with them.[18:17]No man is an island. There is strength in numbers and leverage that strength. Your expectations are crucial to have a solid and robust partnership to work things out. Lean to the support and network that you have created for yourself. If you do not have one, then create one.Dana's Advice[23:06]Be honest with yourself. Set goals and genuine core values that speak to you. Declare things that are non-negotiable in your life and tend to it. If you love your work, then be honest about it. Learn how to differentiate your priorities to your responsibilities and ensure to make time to do it and experience it—these are non-negotiables. “Who’s Got the Pain” premiered on April 16th, 2019. Like the pilot, it was written by Steven Levenson, and directed by Tommy Kail. As always, the numbers featured in the episodes were choreographed by Bob Fosse himself, but were reconstructed by members of his artistic progeny: Dana Moore recreated the choreography to “Who’s Got the Pain” and “Whatever Lola Wants,” and Lloyd Culbreath recreated the choreo and rehearsal staging for “Two Lost Souls.” All the featured songs in the episode, including “Heart” in addition to those previously mentioned, are all from the musical “Damn Yankees,” with music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. Featured in the rehearsing cast of Damn Yankees are a legion of Broadway vets, including Ryan Vandenboom, Kyle Brown, Darien Crago, Haley Fish, Shonica Gooden, Afra Hines, Evan Kasprzak and Adrian Lee. Rounding out the cast performing “Heart” are also Broadway’s PJ Benjamin, Brain Cali, Nick Blaemire, and Aaron Kaburick. The viewership for this episode was down from last week all across the board, with a live viewership at 425,000, and a DVR viewership of 597,000. The total viewership was 1.023 million, down 321,000 from the premiere. At least its still in the millions though! During production of the film of Cabaret, Joan Simon is so glad that Gwen and Bobby have escaped to Majorca with them for some time away together. But Gwen has been burned by Bob one too many times - cheated on so often that she practically has a script in place for how he will apologize. He doesn’t see why he shouldn’t be able to see his German translator on set and then come home to Gwen, and offers that she should be able to do the same. But Gwen isn’t the cheating type. Or at least, she isn’t now. We flash back to 1955, when Gwen learns that her new Broadway musical, a baseball-themed show called Damn Yankees will be choreographed by a young talent named Bobby Fosse. She’s concerned that he won’t be dark enough for this modern-day Faust, but the producer promises her there is a real sense of humor in his work. Gwen swallows her pride and agrees to a work session with the young upstart. After making small talk about each other’s significant others, Bob begins to teach Gwen the seductive steps to “Whatever Lola Wants.” They bond over witty banter and their childhoods working in burlesque houses and Gwen - obviously - lands the job. The new team quickly begins seducing each other in the rehearsal room as well as in the bedroom, until it becomes too complicated for Gwen to be fooling around with her choreographer behind the back of his ailing wife. Things get more complicated when the Damn Yankees producers threaten to cut Bob’s Act I finale because it isn’t landing with audiences. Knowing he has to prove himself to both the creatives and the critics, he wakes up Gwen in the middle of the night and takes them both away from their respective spouses to get to work on a new number. Working through the night, Bob and Gwen are out of ideas. That is, until the pianist suggests a silly mambo and Bob realizes that the lighthearted number can be a cover for characters in agony. And with that, “Who’s Got the Pain?” is born. But while Bob is solving problems onstage and making a name for himself with Gwen as his new muse, Bob’s current wife Joan McCracken lets Gwen know that this scene has been played out before - when Bob left his first wife for Joan. “Life is a Cabaret” premiered on April 9th, 2019. It was written by Steven Levenson, and directed by Thomas Kail; uniquely for this episode, the show credited Both Mssrs. Levenson and Kail with creating the story, but only one of them for writing the actual teleplay. The two group numbers we saw, “Mein Herr” and “Big Spender,” were both originally choreographed by Bob Fosse, but were reconstructed by Valarie Pettiford and Dana Moore, respectively. Something fun for these modern TV shows: the viewership is now able to be tracked separately between live viewers and viewers who watch on DVR. For this pilot episode, the live viewership was .614 million and the DVR viewership was .729 million, bringing the total viewership to 1.344 million. We heard five featured songs in this premiere. The two songs from Sweet Charity, “Big Spender” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” were both written by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields. While the latter was an excerpt from the original recording, “Big Spender” was performed and sung by Bianca Marroquin and the Fandango girls. Also included in this episode were songs from Cabaret, all written by John Kander and Fred Ebb: “Wilkommen” which was a recording, as well as “Mein Herr” and the title song “Cabaret,” both performed by Kelli Barrett. The limited series begins in Hollywood, with 19 years left in the illustrious life and career of Bob Fosse. With his wife and muse Gwen Verdon at his side, he is setting up shots for the song “Big Spender” in his directorial debut: a feature film version of his hit Broadway musical Sweet Charity, which had opened on Broadway with Verdon as the lead less than three years early. While Bob is the director, it is clear that Verdon is just as much a creative force as he is, deconstructing the movement for the dancers and even recommending one of them should be cut when the frame needs to be tightened. At a party to celebrate the film’s opening the following year, Verdon and Fosse host a party for friends and colleagues at their New York City apartment. While the energy is positive with the attendees entertained by a performance from their young daughter Nicole, the reviews for the film are notably less enthusiastic. Of particular note in the New York Times review, which says “Sweet Charity is a movie haunted by the presence of an unseen star, Gwen Verdon. Although Mrs. McClaine often looks like Miss Verdon, she never succeeds at recreating the eccentric line that gave cohesion to the original.”  The box office bust of Sweet Charity makes Bob have to work hard to line up his next film directorial job, which he hopes to be a film adaptation of the 1966 Broadway musical Cabaret. While the film’s producer Cy Feuer is skeptical that Bob’s aesthetic is appropriate for the material, Fosse convinces him by leaning on his experience performing in the USO during World War II. Well, that and going behind Feuer’s back by speaking to his boss. Fosse lands the job and flies to Munich, Germany to direct the film two years later. But while he seems in his element visiting a brothel to cast extras and sleeping with his translator, Feuer is concerned that Fosse’s demand for specificity is going to cost the production millions like the financial flop Sweet Charity. Bob asks Gwen to join him in Munich, where she again saves the show by applying dancers make up and even making a 72 hour trip to New York and back to pick up the perfect gorilla costume.  Yoga and Trauma: Now and In the Future Introduction: 3:49 Yoga and trauma came together as more was known about trauma. Bessel van der Kolk who did a small study of yoga and PTSD. He is a strong voice, and the trauma community recognized the body’s role in trauma healing. Allows a safe and structured way for body to feel again. PTSD as a diagnosis occurred in the 1980’s Society has realized that everyone has experienced trauma in their lifetime. Can react to trauma in present moment situations that not helpful to situation. 6:38 Research has focussed and supported yoga as a helpful modality for trauma. Research studies for PTSD have had encouraging results – lots of feasibility studies. Demand for yoga for trauma courses are very strong. Heather’s popular yoga for trauma course attracts psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, and yoga teachers. More and more course applications are from the medical community. 9:12 Yoga teachers should know about trauma. Recently published a book  (Yoga for Mental Health by Kelly Birch and Heather Mason) where chapters are written by experts in their field. A chapter about  trauma focused yoga therapy by Daniel Libby and Dana Moore is provides a good information on this topic. Yoga teachers dealing with students who are experiencing PTSD should be careful of language during class. The student’s experience may not be positive either mentally, physically or emotionally. Don’t tell people what they are likely to feel. PTSD is likely to make people feel disembodied. Better to give them a cue with a focal point (e.g., you may feel tension in your hamstrings at the back of the legs in a forward bend). Touch should be approved by the student at all times. Movement to make yoga trauma-sensitive but yoga can be so much more than that because of its effect on the autonomic nervous system. 13:05 Yoga Training for Trauma: when dealing with PTSD understanding what people are presenting with (it can be variable) – more difficult if have a group class. Restorative allows people to deeply rest but some may some may feel vulnerable. Moving can be empowering. Every style of yoga can be appropriate for people with PTSD; depends on the stage they are in, what’s going on and their proclivities. All teachers need to understand how to handle triggering. Can’t stop anyone from triggering. All yoga teacher training courses should have a mental health component because yoga classes have a higher percentage of people attending with mental health issues than the population average. Teach yoga teaches to handle general mental health issues and triggering. 20:00 Overall yoga community is more aware of trauma but see growing interest from mental health professionals in the therapeutic value of yoga. #Metoo movement and the reporting about yoga teachers abusing their students has created awareness of inappropriate touch. Adjustments are Ok with informed consent (and to be informed, have to be in tune with their body to know if they allow touch) 22:50 Where will trauma and yoga be in 10 years? Yoga will be more and more integrated into the mental health system (in UK). Difference between health care systems in different countries makes it difficult to predict and will manifest differently. In UK – trauma-based treatments with yoga components are now included in their national health care system (NHS).  Yoga teachers will be increasingly aware of value of yoga for mental health issues and best practices. More research in this area. Flourishing of classes for those with mental health issues. Yoga community should offer yoga saying it is for depression anxiety, PTSD, trauma.  People are desperate for help. The stigma of mental health illness is decreasing now and will continue to do so. Online technologies allow people to access yoga in their homes. 27:00 Integrated into the system in UK; how can we get into the health care systems in all countries. Where health care is paid for by the government, it is easy as only have to convince one entity while a system of 100’s of insurance companies is much harder to enter. Governments want low-cost, effective and efficient modalities for their health care systems. UK and India are making great progress, most successful countries will export their systems to others. Countries like the US where individuals pay for their health care will be interesting. But Medicare does pay for the Dean Ornish treatment which includes yoga. Either UK, India or Sweden may be the model for the rest of the world. 29:30 Parliamentary Group – Yoga in Society. Heather is the Secretary of the Group and it has four pillars. Yoga in: a) education, b) criminal justice system, c) health care, and d) occupational health. Different groups are working in all four areas. 31:33 Yoga and Trauma for yoga teachers who are suffering from mental health issues remember you do not have to be the perfect guru. That will delay your own healing process and creates false expectations Contact: www.themindedinstitute.com Twitter: yogamind FB: yoga therapy for the mind Email: heather.f.mason@gmail.com

«Homefront: The Revolution» spielt in einer alternativen Zeitlinie.

Many firms have made strides in information governance within specific areas.  However, designing and implementing a formal program backed by executive management can be daunting.  There are many ideas about how to approach, define, organize and manage an IG program but how many law firms are coming close to actual implementation? In this timely podcast, hear Foley & Lardner's Beth Chiaiese, National Director of Professional Responsibility & Compliance and Dana Moore, Information Governance  Compliance Manager, share the successes and challenges they are facing as they work to implement a formal IG program within their firm.   Beth Chiaiese has been the Director of Professional Responsibility & Compliance for Foley & Lardner LLP since 2001. During her 34-year career, Ms. Chiaiese has worked as both a practitioner and as a consultant helping firms develop work processes and technologies based on best practices in the areas of records management, conflicts of interest, new business processing and risk management. Ms. Chiaiese is a frequent speaker, addressing national conferences such as the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA), the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Attorneys' Liability Assurance Society (ALAS). Ms. Chiaiese is a co-author of Records Management in the Legal Environment, published by ARMA International in 2003, which extensively discusses the processes, technologies and ethical concerns faced by law firm records and conflicts managers and administrators. Ms. Chiaiese is a former director on the board of ARMA International.   Dana C. Moore is the Information Governance Compliance Manager for Foley & Lardner, LLP. She has worked in records & information management for more than 20 years and has expertise in records management systems solutions, legal compliance issues, and protocols and processes associated with electronic record keeping and the migration of electronically stored information.
