De feministische actiegroep, die in november de Joke Smitprijs won, draait weer op volle toeren. Waarom is het geluid van de Dolle Mina’s anno 2025 nog steeds broodnodig? In de jaren zeventig was de naam van een feministe een Dolle Mina. Die naam hadden ze zelf gekozen en kwam niet zomaar uit de lucht gevallen. Ze verwezen daarmee naar de oerfeministe Wilhelmina Drucker (1847-1925). Eén van de meest tot de verbeelding sprekende strijders van de eerste feministische golf in Nederland. Geen onbekende in de geschiedenis van de vrouwenbeweging, maar nu is er de definitieve biografie, 'Wilhelmina Drucker. Een vrouw in de oppositie', dankzij Marianne Braun.

In deze nieuwe aflevering van Fierce Forward duiken we in de wereld van de Dolle Mina's. Samen met een bijzondere gast die het van dichtbij meemaakte, onderzoeken we hoe de strijd van toen nog altijd doorwerkt in het nu.

Wat heeft het gedachtegoed van Wilhelmina Drucker het hedendaags feminisme te vertellen in een tijd dat Dolle Mina is teruggekeerd? Hoe staat het ervoor met de vrouwenrechten die Drucker zo vurig verdedigde, van een scheve seksuele moraal tot economische onafhankelijkheid.Wilhelmina Drucker (1847-1925) was het boegbeeld van de eerste feministische golf in Nederland. Ze stond aan de wieg van het vrouwenstemrecht in 1919 en vormde een inspiratiebron voor de naar haar vernoemde actiegroep Dolle Mina. Toch is haar naam in het collectief bewustzijn op de achtergrond geraakt. Tijd voor eerherstel.Wat heeft Wilhelmina Drucker het hedendaags feminisme te vertellen? In 2025 zijn de Dolle Mina's teruggekeerd om te strijden voor vrouwenrechten die allang bevochten leken, maar steeds meer onder druk komen te staan. Is Drucker nog net zo'n inspiratiebron als in de jaren zestig? Een eeuw na haar dood maken feministen van verschillende generaties de balans op.Marianne Braun politicologe. Ze publiceerde onlangs de biografie Wilhelmina Drucker: een vrouw in de oppositie. Ze specialiseert zich in de geschiedenis van het feminisme, in het bijzonder de eerste feministische golf. Mieke Aerts is emerita hoogleraar Moderne politieke geschiedenis (UvA). Aerts is geïnteresseerd in de geschiedenis van politieke actierepetoires en de geschiedenis en filosofie van het feminisme. Ze bekleedde de eerste Wilhelmina Drucker leerstoel. Sia Hermanides is een filmmaker die ondergerepresenteerde verhalen wil laten zien. Zij regisseerde onder andere White berry (2022) en blies de Dolle Mina's begin 2025 nieuw leven in. Martine Bontjes is kunst- en cultuurhistoricus en feministe. Haar missie is om de verborgen varhalen van vrouwen voor het voetlicht te brengen. Ze is de oprichter van Women of Amsterdam en is actief voor de Dolle Mina's 2025.Laura Iqbal is actief voor Dolle Mina's. Ze werkt bij Firma Twist, een bureau voor maatschappelijke verandering. Ze houdt zich bezig met onderwerpen als gelijkwaardigheid, zelfbeschikking en sociale rechtvaardigheid.Anja Meulenbelt is schrijfster, publicist en politica. Ze schreef onder andere Niet van gisteren (2025) en Alle moeders werken al (2022). Van haar autobiografische roman De schaamte voorbij is onlangs na 50 jaar een nieuwe editie verschenen. Ze was actief in de Eerste kamer voor de SP en later betrokken bij BIJ1.Lotte Houwink ten Cate is historicus en columnist van de Volkskrant en De Morgen. Hedy is deze week 88 geworden. Die leeftijd geeft iets relativerends. Gelukkig heeft ze nog veel vrienden en een volle agenda. Deze middag komt ze net thuis van een Dolle Mina demonstratie over de noodopvang voor vrouwen. Er zijn 800 bedden te weinig. Dat betekent dat er 800 vrouwen gevaar lopen. Zondag gaat ze spreken en meelopen bij de Rode Lijn Demonstratie. Al dat demonstreren werkt voor haar als een ontlading en de gezamenlijkheid als een pleister. Hadassah bezocht deze week een prachtige theaterwandeling in Nijmegen waar ze leerde kijken door de ogen van nieuwe Nijmegenaren. Naast mooi ook heel zinvol, want er wordt veel gepraat over vluchtelingen, maar er zijn weinig mensen die een vluchteling kennen.In Vroeger en Nu gaat het over hét vrouwenlied: Er is een land waar vrouwen willen wonen. Het lied lijkt bezig aan een ware revival. Hadassah kreeg het opgestuurd van haar schoonzus uit Ibiza en Hedy zong het mee tijdens een bijeenkomst in vrouwencafé Saarein. Verder gaat het over tijd. Hedy en Hadassah hebben allebei chronisch tijd te kort. Ze krijgen nooit alles gedaan wat ze zich voornemen en voelen zich dan schuldig. Gelukkig krijgen ze een advies. Hosted on Acast. De topman van Meta kreeg zijn jaarlijkse anderhalf uur om over de toekomst van zijn bedrijf te praten. En die anderhalf uur stond volledig in het teken van het succesnummer van Meta: de slimme bril. De samenwerking met Ray-Ban smaakt naar meer, en Meta gaat daar maar al te graag op in. Daarbij doet Zuckerberg ook nog een stevige uitspraak: want het einde van het smartphone-tijdperk is volgens hem in zicht. En verder hebben we het nog over de Federal Reserve. Internationaal is er felle kritiek op het plan van het Israëlische het kabinet om over te gaan tot de militaire bezetting van Gaza-stad.  Rotterdam werd het toneel van een protestmars tegen femicide. De mars werd georganiseerd door Dolle Mina, de vrouwenbeweging die een halve eeuw geleden actie voerde voor gelijkheid, emancipatie en rechtvaardigheid.  De slag van de dode mannen'; de veldslag bij een fort boven Warschau in Polen uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Daarbij zetten de Duitsers gifgas in tegen de Russische soldaten, die zich daartegen niet konden beschermen.  Deze zomer voeren in het Oog gesprekken over de traditionele muziek van verschillende landen. Hoe levend is die muziek nog? We zijn aanbeland in Italië.

Deze week maken we het persoonlijker en spreken we mensen over hun werk, gedachtes en ideeën. Wat houdt ze bezig en wat drijft ze? Afgelopen zondag waren de Dolle Mina's terug van eigenlijk nooit weggeweest. Ze organiseerden in Rotterdam hun grootste actie tot nu toe: een landelijke protestmars tegen femicide. Verder haalde Hedy deze week troost uit de voorstelling Giovanni's Room van ITA en werd Hadassah geraakt door een bijzondere herdenking bij kamp Westerbork. Beers such as Oerbier, Arabier, and Stille Nacht may not be as familiar to today's avid beer consumer, but for decades these unusual strong ales have been staples on the menus and cellars of more adventurous beer bars around the world. De Dolle Brouwers (https://www.oerbier.be) got its start in 1980, among the vanguard in a new wave of Belgian brewers who rejected the consolidation and cynical corner-cutting that had come to define the industry there. Cofounder Kris Herteleer was committed to a more natural approach to brewing, using real malt, whole hops, healthy yeast, spring water, and the highly manual mechanical tools of the decades-old brewhouse they purchased in the village of Esen, just outside of Diksmuide, in West Flanders. Oerbier was, and still is, hard to classify. It limns the space between an overtly acid-forward oud bruin and a strong Belgian dark ale, borrowing from both where and when it needs to. Yet this ambiguity fits Herteleer's approach; De Dolle isn't concerned at all about adherence to styles. Herteleer would much rather get you asking questions than provide you with easy answers. Today our guest is Keila Dolle, an actress, filmmaker, and comedian who hosts the “Crying Behind Sunglasses” podcast, which I was recently a guest on. After hearing a little bit about her story and her background, I learned about her advocacy for mental health and wanted to have her on the podcast to discuss it.   Keila grew up with a younger brother who was autistic, and seeing the challenges that he experienced growing up neurodivergent led her to firmly believe that everybody deserves to be seen and be recognized. Additionally, Keila is very open about her own anxiety and experiences with panic attacks. These two factors influenced her to become a mental health advocate and help others realize they are not alone.   In this episode, Keila shares about her volunteer work, which started doing at a young age and continued to where she is now.
