It can be easy to think of flow in terms of performance but there is much more to it than that – not least that in flow our sense of self disappears and a deeper intelligence arises – some call it the 'intelligent unconscious'. The intelligence that is running 99.9% of the processes in your body right now without your interference – and that is the source of true creativity. In this exploration provoking episode, Piers Thurston and Dr. Amy Johnson explore the transformative concept of 'Before Psychology.' They discuss how recognising the base-level awareness that precedes thought and perception and feeling can unlock profound shifts in peace, performance, and human potential. The conversation delves into the challenges of perceiving the ordinary, innate wisdom often overlooked. It emphasises detaching from any pre-learnt to experience a more direct and untainted inquiry into reality. He shares his own journey building the Learn or Be Learned podcast from early technical challenges to its current growth and expansion. Throughout, Shiva emphasizes that comparing one's beginning to others' advanced progress can be discouraging. Listeners will come away understanding that an appearance of effortlessness often masks years of dedication, struggle, and learning - all while gaining valuable lessons to apply to their own goals and dreams. Summary In this solo episode, host Shiva Dhanasekar discusses the concept of the "illusion of effortlessness" and how even the most successful ventures often look seamless and effortless from the outside but require years of hard work behind the scenes. He shares his own journey building the Learn or Be Learned podcast, from early technical challenges to overcoming crashes and learning how to edit efficiently. Shiva also talks about his goals of entrepreneurship and growing the podcast. Throughout the episode, he emphasizes that comparing one's beginning to others' advanced progress can be discouraging, and the key is to focus on continual self-improvement. Listeners will come away with an understanding of the effort truly required to achieve success and how to apply lessons to their own goals and dreams. Key Takeaways It's an illusion that success looks effortless - in reality, top performers have put in thousands of hours of hard work behind the scenes over many years to get to where they are. Comparing your beginning efforts to others' advanced success can be discouraging. Instead, focus on continual self-improvement and progress from your own starting point. Having a long-term vision, breaking it down into goals and action plans, and consistently working toward those plans is important for achieving your dreams over time. Noteworthy Quotes "Life is hard for one of two reasons. You either are trying to get out of your comfort zone, or you stay in it. Because when you stay in it, life will get harder later on, because you realize that you missed your chance to go for your dreams." - Shiva Dhanasekar [0:09:28] "There's no such thing as effortlessness, everything takes a lot of effort." - Shiva Dhanasekar [0:13:30] "You have to create your own visions, and then work backwards and create goals for those visions, and then steps for those goals." - Shiva Dhanasekar [0:18:56] Names, Materials, and Info Dropped in this Ep. At the beginning of October, I wasn't sure how (or even if) I wanted to continue my business. Things needed to change because more often than not, I found myself frustrated rather than fulfilled. I knew that I had felt different in the past and I wanted to get back to serving, being creative, and most importantly not be one of the other coaches claiming their solution will work for everyone or who underdeliver and disappoint. I strive to be the living and breathing embodiment of what I teach: listening to your intuition. To your heart. And living life to the fullest. But I found myself doing too much and so I decided to stop doing. Doing business-y content for social media. Doing selling. Doing healing. Doing affirming. Doing listening to others instead of myself. Because all of that doing had not done anything for me other than leaving me frustrated. I decided I would have a business based on referrals more so than social media. I don't mind posting here and there but I will never overdo that again. And if Source would show me that it would be for the Highest Good of everyone to continue my business, I told Source to provide for me. And it has. In miraculous ways. While I was doing less. And being more. More creative. More following my joy, bliss and satisfaction. More love. More trust. And things have turned. I'm sharing the process in this podcast. So expect to see less business-y content and more of me being. Blissful. Enjoying life. Dancing. Creating (I'm working on my second book and an oracle deck). Loving. Attracting not chasing. And that is what I will be teaching and guiding and supporting my clients with. Effortlessness. Trust in Source. Flow. Bliss. Joy. Love. Creativity. Serving. Connecting. Because I feel most at home in flow. Not planning. Trusting! Let me know if you can relate!

An industry leader in accessible luxury handbags, accessories, and apparel, Rebecca Minkoff's playful and subtly edgy designs integrate the elements of bohemian femininity with a little bit of rock ‘n' roll. In 2001, Rebecca designed a version of the “I Love New York” t-shirt as part of a five-piece capsule collection. In 2005, Rebecca designed her first handbag, which she soon dubbed the “Morning After Bag,” a.k.a. the M.A.B. This iconic bag ignited Rebecca's career as a handbag designer and inspired her edgy, feminine creations in the years to come. After four years of designing statement-making handbags and accessories with her trademark leathers, studs and hardware, Rebecca introduced her first ready-to-wear collection in 2009.Today, Rebecca Minkoff is a global brand with a wide range of apparel, handbags, footwear, jewelry and accessories. Wisdom for Wellbeing with Dr. Kaitlin Harkess (PhD Psychology)
The Momentum Series replays our top episodes so that you have the chance to catch episodes you missed, and refresh on others. The idea is to support you more regularly as you take charge of 2023 (through whatever challenges may arise). Here's to health, wealth and wisdom on this heartfelt path of yours. On this episode I interview Dr. John Arden, a brilliant author and leader in the field of integrative psychotherapy. This episode is particularly special for me, as I have been following Dr. Arden's work for many years, since I first read Rewire Your Brain Think Your Way to a Better Life. As you will see in the episode, Dr. Arden is able to take complex concepts from psychotherapy, neuropsychology, epigenetics, psychoneuroimmunology, and nutritional neuroscience and present them in an easily accessible manner. This means that you will have the knowledge to implement these evidence-based practices to cultivate more calmness and connection in your life. What is covered in this episode: >> The SEEDS approach to good health: Social, Exercise, Education, Diet, and Sleep >> Social: Early experiences, such as your attachment, can impact brain development and your epigenome, and how later life experiences, including therapy can also have an epigenetic effect. >> Exercise: This is the “most powerful” of all the components. Dr. Arden describes how he has implemented a cardiovascular boost “minimal dose” by structuring his environment, and how exercise supports you to get energy (even if you're tired!) and is the best antidepressant and anxiolytic! (That means, it decreases symptoms of depression and anxiety.) >> Education: Why learning new things is important for brain health and how it supports your adaptivity (i.e., mental flexibility). >> Diet: How what you eat affects your neurochemistry, and what the best diets are to support your mental health and gut bacteria. Dr. Arden also shares that there is more DNA in your gut that is not you, than is in your cells! He also shares concerns around the most consumed vegetable in the USA. >> Sleep: What makes for quality sleep, and how this impacts different components of your health. >> The FEED approach to learning: Focus, Effort, Effortlessness (stay on behaviour long enough to make it effortless), and Determination Links Discussed Dr. John Arden's webpage and books Head to www.drkaitin.com/ww2 for show notes, free resources and courses that support you a heartfelt life alongside peak performance. “When things start to settle down, you start to less stimulated so how do you continue the practice, how do you continue to be inspired?”-Leslieann Hobayan For today's podcast, I am looking at how we can be passionate and driven by the things that light us up. How can following our passion create a life of ease and flow? How can it create a life of abundance? Some people give up their passion because it doesn't pay the bills, so they don't have time for it. But what is your life's purpose? To pay the bills? Or to follow your heart's deepest desire? What kind of life are you living now? Is it full of challenge? Or ease? Fear often drives us away from what makes our heart sing. Especially when our passion in life isn't “practical”. We don't trust ourselves to our true heart's calling. As a result, our lives feel blah, full of heavy obligation. Can you focus your attention on what lights you up? Can you trust that each step towards your passion brings you closer and closer to your life's purpose? You are born with a purpose, so tune into those intuitive hits, those seemingly “random” ideas. Don't compromise on how you are BE-ing. Tune into your passions and choose. You have the power of choice. Are you really being who you have been called to be? Take a listen to know what your heart's desire and see what's in alignment for you. * Follow me on Instagram for Maverick Mondays, Free Verse Fridays, and some real talk about healing, poetry, AND play: @leslieannhobayan or email me at leslieann@suryagian.com * Sign up for Joyful Meditation, a 5-part introductory series to meditation. Finding ease and effortlessness in meditation.
If the eye is unobstructed, it results in sight; if the ear is unobstructed, the result is hearing; if the nose is unobstructed, the result is a sense of smell; if the mouth is unobstructed, the result is a sense of taste; if the mind is unobstructed, the result is wisdom.

Today, Hilary Jackendoff shares her effortless approach to expansion, evolution and embracing the new paradigm of work. This was a hilariously "difficult" convo on ease and effortlessness and we laughed a lot along the way. We also get real and raw about the challenges we face embracing the new paradigm since it can be hard to break away from old conditioning that tells us we need to work harder, push ourselves and sacrifice our well being to achieve our goals. We are also both Projectors in human design and dig into the specific challenges this design can face and how we can help lead the way in embracing the shift in how the world works.
