"Long before there were rules, there was relationship.”In this message titled One Family, One Faith, we step into the simple and stunning truth of the gospel: we are justified not by our performance, but by our belief. Through the life of Abraham and the words of Paul in Romans 4, we discover that faith levels the playing field — uniting the religious and the rebellious, the confident and the questioning, into one family under grace.

This sermon on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple highlights the themes of waiting and suffering, both in the lives of Simeon and Anna and in our own. Mary and Joseph bring Jesus to the temple for consecration, where they encounter Simeon, who proclaims Jesus as the fulfillment of God's promise, and Anna, who rejoices at His arrival. These two elderly prophets represent Israel's long wait for redemption, a wait filled with suffering and longing. Like them, we also experience waiting and suffering in our lives—seeking relief from sin, loneliness, grief, and brokenness. The sermon reminds us that Jesus, the Light of the world, does not stay distant from our pain but enters into it, sharing in our suffering and ultimately overcoming it through His death and resurrection. The devil tempts us to doubt God's promises, but Christ's presence—especially in the Eucharist—assures us that He is with us always. As we navigate life's challenges, we are encouraged to trust in Christ, who brings comfort and peace. The blessed candle serves as a reminder that even in darkness, Jesus is present, our light and salvation, guiding us until we rest in His eternal peace.Waiting and Suffering Are Part of Faith – Like Simeon and Anna, we often wait for God's promises to be fulfilled. Though this waiting can involve suffering, it is not in vain because God is always faithful. Jesus Enters Into Our Pain – Christ does not remain distant from our struggles but shares in our suffering. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He brings redemption and hope to those who feel lost or broken. Christ is Our Light in Darkness – Just as the blessed candle symbolizes Jesus as the Light of the World, He continues to shine in our lives. In moments of doubt and despair, we can trust that He is present, guiding us toward His peace and eternal salvation.

Sunday Morning Podcast | The Moody Church

What kind of story are we living in? Is life a comedic story? Or is it a tragic story? We call those who see life as a comedy, optimists. Their cheery outlook drives innovation, entertainment, and hopefulness. As for those who see life as a tragic story, we call them pessimists. They are honest about the pain and struggle life has to offer.    But there's a third kind of story… a redemptive story. Redemptive stories see the brokenness of the world for what it is, but the light always breaks through.    The Bible characters we meet today, Simeon and Anna, see life as a redemptive story. These two aged saints have spent their whole lives awaiting the redemption of God…    1) The Sign of Redemption 2:22-24   As Mary and Joseph redeem their firstborn son and present Jesus to the Lord. They are acknowledging they're living in God's redemptive story.   God has redeemed… we owe Him our everything!    2) The Hope of Redemption 2:25-33   Simon and Anna were waiting for the consolation of Israel. They were anticipating her redemption and longing for her salvation.   God will redeem… we look to Him for everything!   3) The Cost of Redemption 2:34-40   The redemption of Israel can only come through the suffering of the Servant of the Lord, Jesus.   God is redeeming… we're receiving His Everything!   Takeaway: Redemption is here, and His name is Jesus!   This is not a feel-good comedy, neither is this a depressive tragedy. This is a redemptive story. It's the story we live in, by grace through faith. It's a story worth trusting in, hoping upon, and waiting for. It's the story of Jesus. Our Light, our Glory, and our Redeemer!   Luke 2:22-40

On this episode of Point of Relation, Thomas is joined by humanitarian, writer, and social entrepreneur Zainab Salbi. They discuss the difficult nature of working in the humanitarian space to address the many injustices that people, particularly women, face worldwide. Zainab explains how being open and vulnerable about her own traumatic experiences gave her the compassion and inspiration needed to tell women's stories and work to end oppression, systemic violence, and climate change. In a line of work that is so emotionally taxing, she's learned firsthand how crucial it is to resource yourself with the same kindness you show to others and care for your own emotional well-being. As she puts it, “You can't give out of an empty well.” Trigger Warning: This episode includes discussion of sexual assault and violence against women. In this episode, David is joined by Patrick McAndrew, who is the founder and CEO of the coaching and development business HARA. Patrick focuses on developing the whole person, knowing that high performance is determined by how you live - not just how you work. He provides the people he works with a firm foundation by improving their cognitive health, enabling them to focus both in the moment and over the long term. Using David as an example, Patrick provides practical examples of how to do this, during the podcast. KEY TAKEAWAYS People need to be able to absorb, understand, remember, and use information effectively. That requires focus. Our spotlight of attention is constantly being fragmented. How you manage your relationship with technology is vital, it is incredibly distracting. If you are always available to others, you spread yourself too thin and are no longer available to serve what you want. We're not multitasking anymore. Now, we're always partially attending to too many things at once Plan tomorrow today. Get an alarm clock and keep the phone out of the bedroom. Infotainment is not real knowledge. Having too many places you can be contacted is counterproductive. BEST MOMENTS‘Everything is shaped around cognitive health,'‘We lack resilience because we are so disconnected from ourselves.'‘Just making communication easier, doesn't make people more efficient.' We live in a world where there's so much focus on matrix, statistics, and data, and while these are all important, they do not hold the soul of the mission and the vision. They are not the reason for growth or prosperity, but points of information. Zainab believes that a person has to keep their integrity towards the soul of the mission or the vision. Feminine leadership is putting as much importance to the actual mind in the facts as much as to the heart's knowledge, for the heart has wisdom, knowledge, and intelligence. If we run organizations only using our minds, it becomes broken, disconnected, and unsustainable. Zainab Salbi has frequently been named as one of the women changing the world by leading publications ranging from Newsweek to The Guardian. Oprah Winfrey identified her as one of the women changing the world to People Magazine and President Bill Clinton identified her as one of the 21st century heroes to Harper's Bazaar. Most recently Foreign Policy Magazine named her as one of “100 Leading Global Thinkers” and Watkins Magazine identified her as one of the top 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People in 2020.At the age of 23, Zainab founded Women for Women International, a humanitarian organization dedicated to women survivors of wars. Under her leadership (1993–2011), Women for Women International grew from helping 30 women upon its inception to helping more than 420,000 women and distributing more than 100 million dollars in aid. Zainab is the author of several books, including the best seller Between Two Worlds: Escape from Tyranny; Growing Up in the Shadow of Saddam (with Laurie Buckland); The Other Side of War; Women's Stories of Survival and Hope; If You Knew Me You Would Care,(with photographs by Rennio Maifredi); and her latest Freedom is an Inside Job; Owning our Darkness and Our Light to Change Ourselves and the World. She is also the Executive Editor and Host of several shows including Through Her Eyes with Yahoo News, #MeToo, Now What? with PBS, The Zainab Salbi Project with Huffington Post , and The Nida'a Show with TLC Arabia. In early 2022, alongside Jody Allen, Zainab co-founded Daughters for Earth, a new fund and campaign that aims to inspire all women to engage in climate change action by mobilizing $100 million for on the ground, women-led efforts to protect and restore the Earth. If there wasn't twitter, would we have solved climate change by now? Might we at least have got round to thinking about solving climate change? Would Ol have had more sleep? Sure, loads of important eco connections and organising and other useful stuff have happened via the site, but so too has a prodigious amount of titting about (trust us, we know of what we speak) let alone all the hate and bile and BS and conspiracy that sustains it. Do climate-y people need to 'win' twitter to make progress? Or is fighting online the problem, regardless of 'side', when we're crying out for a bit of peace, love and understanding? And does Elon's free speech crusade mean climate denial is re-invigorated? We are out of Mercury Retrograde!    We've gone into the uprising of female power. We're going into major competitive mode while taking fellow women down, and it feels like there is a race to the throne.    We're supposed to be supporting and lifting each other up. If you're a female and feel like you're still in this more masculine, competitive, hustle/grind/push/shove, get-to-the-top mindset while hurting fellow females,  listen up. You might have some healing to do. And, that's okay. We will work on that together in this episode.   If you've been wounded, let yourself feel that for a day or two. But don't stay in that victim or pity mode. That is super low vibrational! If we live awake and are super conscious, our healing and recovery will be faster than those who are totally unaware. [7:40]    Emotions carry a frequencywith them. When you feel something emotionally, your electromagnetic field changes. Your healing process will depend upon how hurtful the experience was and the level of frequency your emotion is at. [8:55]   'The wound is the place where the Light enters you.' -Rumi [10:45] The Light shines 1.) on places that need to be healed, 2.) for us to grow through lessons, 3) so we can be a Light for ourselves and others.   Love is pure ⬆ , competing is fear ⬇. [19:30]   Our Light becomes brighter as we shed all the darkness, ego, trauma, and the past that brings us down. Collective consciousness, happiness, joy, abundance – the world will be a happier place if we vibrate in a higher frequency!   If you have any questions or want me to elaborate about this podcast or anything at all, please reach out and let's connect (if we haven't already)!    Also, something phenomenal is cooking! I am keeping this baby really quiet until it's complete and is released to the world! I might give you little tidbits and clues about what's coming up in the following episodes, so stay tuned!   E: gem@boutiquebizco.com  IG: @gem_munro W: www.iamgemmunro.com

Humanitarian, activist, writer and TV host Zainab Salbi has become a leading voice for women's rights. A survivor of struggles both geopolitical and personal, Zainab has taken her hard-won insights about conflict and healing, and used that empathy to organize and inspire. Along the way, she's developed a deep connection to the natural world, where she finds rich metaphors that inform her work.     Zainab grew up in Iraq, in the shadow of Saddam Hussein's regime, before fleeing to the United States at the age of 19. In 1993, she founded Women for Women, a global humanitarian effort that has helped half a million women affected by conflict.   Her awards and accolades include inclusion in Foreign Policy Magazine's “100 Leading Global Thinkers” and People Magazine's “25 Women Changing The World.” She is the author of several books, including her most recent, Freedom Is An Inside Job: Owning Our Darkness and Our Light to Heal Ourselves and the World.    We met Zainab for a crisp, socially-distanced, leaf-crunching walk at a nature preserve in Pawling, New York, 75 miles north of New York City. It was November, 2020, just days after the Presidential election, and though the votes were still being counted, it was already clear that America remained divided.   Impressed by her experience working with survivors of global conflicts, we wanted to ask Zainab about what comes next. In the wake of #metoo and #blacklivesmatter, and as we confront the growing threat of violent extremism in the US… Now what?  How can societies and souls overcome our greatest failings?

Something and someone created us but we cannot reach our creator unless we speak and live in unconditional love - that is who Jesus is. The manifestation of unconditional love. What’s Going on? Our fleshly body, the material world is disappearing and the material world wants to take our light with it. What Do We have To Do? we have to wake up more people to reach back to the divine source and we can only do this in love for all people. “Now again, my Master’s Message, GOD, God-of-the-Angel-Armies: “Go out into the streets and lament loudly! Fill the malls and shops with cries of doom! Weep loudly, ‘Not me! Not us, Not now!’ Empty offices, stores, factories, workplaces. Enlist everyone in the general lament. Get ready way out casters – Rachel is a total powerhouse - a modern-day sage who's got insight and spiritual truth to spare and we're about to dive headfirst into the deep well of a Bonafede love guru – so listen up. Rachel's song recommendations- Everything is Allanis Morissette's song defining what the Shadow is according to Debbie Ford's definition: our shadow is all of the qualities within us both Our Light and Our Dark. Embracing our Shadow, every part of it, was inspired through Ford's shadow process. Allanis went through the coaching program and was a student of Debbie's. https://youtu.be/Mv82NA1ZYyo This Grudge is a song of the long and pain filled journey of Forgiveness and needing to let go of the Grudges we hold onto to honor that those who wounded us were also there as fodder for our ultimate growth and who we are meant to become. Only if we do this sacred work of walking the conscious path seeking to heal and become whole. Allanis has done this work ... Hence the line in her song This Grudge: “You've been vilified and used as fodder, you deserve a piece of every record" https://youtu.be/RXU9xCHxOfs Recovery wisdom: "A miracle is a shift in perception, to see now what we couldn't see." ~A Course In Miracles Book Recommendations- The Best Year of Your Life- Debbie Ford The Dark Side of The Light Chasers- Debbie Ford The Artists Way- Julia Cameron Getting the Love You Want- Harville Hendrix ~~HEALTHY LOVE MEETING~~ The Healthy Love Meeting is every Thursday night at 9 p.m. Eastern time on intherooms.com Contact Rachel at: THE REGAL 550 11TH STREET SOUTH BEACH, FL 33139 Lovecoachrachel@mac.com www.rachellevylove.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-way-out-podcast/message

Our Fruition. Our Light. This instant is the only time there is. I have conceived of time in such a way that I defeat my aim. If I elect to reach past time to timelessness, I must change my perception of what time is for. Time's purpose cannot be to keep the past and future one. The only interval in which I can be saved from time is now. For in this instant has forgiveness come to set me free. The birth of Christ is now, without a past or future. He has come to give His present blessing to the world, restoring it to timelessness and love. And love is ever-present, here and now. Thanks for this instant, Father. It is now I am redeemed. This instant is the time You have appointed for Your Son's release, and for salvation of the world in him.- Jesus Christ in a Course in Miracles, Lesson 308

Zainab Salbi is an author, humanitarian, and media commentator who founded the nonprofit organization Women for Women International when she was only 23 years old. With Sounds True, she has published the book Freedom Is an Inside Job: Owning Our Darkness and Our Light to Heal Ourselves and the World. In this episode of Insights at the Edge, Tami Simon and Zainab discuss what it means to be an agent of social change while also navigating the everyday journey of being human. They talk about why it's necessary to let go of what no longer works in our lives in order to embrace our most deeply held truths. As an Iraqi-American, Zainab speaks on engaging with people whose values oppose ours—especially those who currently oppose Muslim immigration to the United States. Finally, Zainab and Tami talk about the healing power of making amends and what "freedom" really means. (83 minutes) Tami's Takeaway Zainab teaches how we can befriend people who hold opposing views not through debate, but through embrace and a strong, open stance that is curious about the other person's underlying needs and emotions. I believe this skill—truly understanding people who disagree with us and feel "other"—is one of the most important skills we need to be peacemakers and bringers of love in all of our interactions.
