A productive week on the farm~ Blind Hog and Acorn repaired the F350's tie rod ends! Was the picture perfect set up of a 20 yr old truck up on jack stands in the front yard. Once the pair of farmers got started, it was "just that easy."Road Commissioner has promised to send a road grader, but the county is so big and the tax base so small, they are not expecting much.Blind Hog got the three paddocks of the west field clipped, broom sedge is now mowed and the field all leveled out. Grass is already much greener where the livestock are not grazing so yes- the grass is greener on the other side of the fence!Goat kids are bouncing around, 43 "tighty whities" running here and there. Still have a few more goats to kid. Now for the cows- this may be Lulu and Calpurnia's last calving. At 16, their arthritis is really slowing them both down.Ethel is is in "egg mode," laying an egg every other day. 4 in the nest. Acorn will wait for a few more more eggs and then will steal four for the incubator. Will see if the pair can raise any goslings. Last year none of her eggs hatched and the attrition from black snakes eating her eggs was high.
34 commercial kids born Monday through Friday. Sired by the same buck, they are all white- quick eartagging and notes help tell kids apart when things get confusing in the barn!Snow storm pretty much missed us- just had some flurries yesterday but not "inches of accumulation." Works for Acorn. The tie rod on the F350 broke- the connector sleeve wallowed out the threads and so the rods pulled apart. New tie rods are already delivered, will be installed next week. Acorn texted the road commissioner to voice her angst over the condition of the road. Barking out the door and no one to hear...New recipe for you to try... Lemon muffins! https://steelmeadowfarm.com/steelmeadow-recipes/Ethel laid her first egg, it has the "bullseye so YAY! The geese are "doing it!" Will try a few in the incubator once she gets more laid.
Whistlin Diesel is doing something right because this man is pulling in a lot of views on YouTube & Facebook which is allowing him to destroy a lot of high-priced machinery. I mean his latest Instagram post boasts that he's already dropped half a million dollars into a customized truck called the Monstermax 2 which he said will be the largest truck on the road. He's bought plenty of vehicles worth over $100K just so he can destroy them. Were talking about an F250, F350, A Smart Car, a Toyota Hilux, a Duramax, Hellcat, a Jurassic Park Jeep, a Monster truck, and plenty more. The funny thing is – he doesn't do it for the money. The most popular question he gets asked – is why does he destroy these beautiful cars. In a 2019 he posted a video titled The Reason I Destroy All My Trucks. Back then Whistlin Diesel claimed he wasn't making millions of dollars but after having taken a look at his YouTube trajectory and the massive growth he's experienced in the years since – we got a good feeling he's making that bank and more. Good for him! According to Cody, it did all this without any hands out from mom or dad. He's also managed to buy himself one car he doesn't plan on destroying. If you clicked on this video, it's likely because you were wondering what kind of money Whistlen Diesel is working with and where it's coming from. In this video, I'm gonna walk you through his various revenue streams and we are gonna take some educated guesses as to what he's actually pulling in. Also, we will go over some of his expensive purchases and how he likes to spend and destroy his internet fortune. For the super fans of his content he's also dropped some new merch – take a look. “ Introducing unisex super extra insulated ultra-plush swag suits.”

In this week's episode, we take a look at how Charles Darwin postulated the Theory of Natural Selection. We also look at what that theory was and finally finish the episode with some interesting facts about Darwin. Read our blog post Would you rather read about his biography? Click here: Charles Darwin. If the link doesn't work, copy and paste this URL into your browser - https://wisuru.com/biography/charles-darwin/ Summary Two theories of evolution existed during Charles Darwin's time. Darwin, who read these two theories, was motivated to find out how evolution really happened [Citation1]. Malthus' essay While Darwin was pondering over how evolution really happens, in 1838, he read an essay written by Thomas Malthus. In this essay, Malthus argues that, if left unchecked, all species have the ability to reproduce indefinitely and overpopulate the earth within a few hundred generations and outstrip food production. And yet, it doesn't happen. Every year, the populations of varied species remain stable. Natural Selection While thinking about what Malthus had written, Darwin realized that there must be some combination of natural factors that keeps the populations of different species in check. Due to these factors, many of the organisms in varied species must have died even before they could have had the chance to reproduce. Darwin named this combination of natural factors 'Natural Selection,' because he felt that these factors select which organisms get to reproduce and have children, and which do not. According to Darwin, Natural Selection was the force behind evolution. Thus, the Theory of Natural Selection originated. For example, in places where there was no grass, but only tall trees, giraffes with slightly elongated necks and front legs would have had a better chance of procuring food, while those that didn't possess these attributes would have died out, before reproducing. Thus, the next generation of giraffes would have longer front legs and necks. This process would have continued for hundreds of generations. As a result, the giraffes we see today have extremely long necks and front legs when compared to any other organism in this world. Reluctance to publish his theory But even though Darwin had come up with his own theory of evolution in the year 1838, he did not publish it then, because he was afraid that he might be ostracized by society for mentioning something like that. After all, he would be suggesting that human beings actually evolved from other organisms, and were not created by god. This would go against the beliefs of many major religions at that time. So, for the next two decades, he kept experimenting and gathering more evidence to prove his theory. (Darwin's drawing below is based on his belief that evolution would have begun with one organism (1 in the drawing) and then branched and rebranched, to produce the numerous varied species in this world). Wallace's essay On June 18th, 1858, Darwin read an essay [Citation 2] published by Alfred Russel Wallace, an English naturalist who had sailed to South East Asia and collected specimens there. Darwin was spellbound by the similarities Wallace's essay had, with his own theory of evolution. So, even though he had originally planned to write a big book on his thoughts about evolution, he hurriedly wrote an abstract, called 'On the Origin of Species.' Then, he had both his abstract and Wallace's essay read out in the Biological Society in London. Then, he started working on the big book he had always dreamt to finish. Sexual Selection In his abstract (On the Origin of Species), Darwin explains that natural selection is not the only catalyst behind evolution. There was one more catalyst, called Sexual Selection. Sexual Selection is the process in which, in many organisms, the female (mostly) chooses which male to mate with. The males, on the other hand, compete with each other, to attract the attention of the female. Sexual selection is another factor, which decides which members of a species get to reproduce and which do not. Able members of one sex (mostly males) can mate with many females and have lots of children, while less able males have the least chance of mating and reproducing. Thus, the next generation would have more individuals with the characteristics of the more able males, and fewer individuals with the characteristics of the less able males. Copley Medal Darwin finally finished the first part of the big book, which he had always wanted to write, in 1868. He named it, 'The Variation of Animals and Plants Under Domestication.' But before finishing its second part, he died. Darwin also published other books, like, 'The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex' and 'The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals.' Both these books became hugely popular, exceeding his own expectations. The Royal Society of London (Britain's national academy of sciences) honored Darwin for his lifelong contribution to science by awarding him the Copley medal (Britain's highest scientific honor) in 1864. (A picture of Charles Darwin in 1868 can be found below) Death In 1882, Charles Darwin was diagnosed with 'Angina Pectoris.' It is an illness that causes chest pain due to the insufficient flow of blood to the heart. Darwin died on April 19th of the same year. Finally, I end the episode by looking at some interesting facts about Darwin. In this episode of the "America on the Road" podcast, Jack Nerad and Chris Teague road test the 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup truck and the Subaru Legacy midsize sedan. In the interview segment, Nerad goes in-depth with Ford Performance Chief Engineer Carl Widman on the 2020 Shelby GT 500. Nerad had the opportunity to drive the ultimate Mustang sports model in various settings including both the road course and drag strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In the interview, Widman gives details on how Ford engineers were able to wring 760 horsepower from the Mustang's 5.2-liter V-8 and the special tricks they employed to make the GT 500 one of the best street-and-track cars in its price range. The most powerful Super Duty yet features two new engine offerings including all-new 7.3-liter gasoline V-8 and upgraded third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8. The 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup is the latest word in super-sizing. Built to tow entire neighborhoods, the F350 is also equipped like a luxury car, and it has a surprisingly supple ride. Teague says from the inside it doesn't feel nearly as daunting to drive as it might look from the outside. According to Nerad, the 2020 Subaru Legacy is a great choice if you live in a place where the weather can get unruly. Every Legacy is equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive, an absolute boon when the elements are not in your favor. Subaru has also solved its previous interior issues. The current Legacy has one of the nicest interiors in the segment. 2020 Subaru Legacy slideshow Check out the best new-car lease deals for this month.
