Today's case begins on July 28, 1980, in Colorado when an officer spots a man in waist- high weeds in a field in the middle of the warm summer night. After confirming the man's ID, the officer allows the man to continue on his way since going for a stroll in the middle of the night is not a crime. However, the officer had a nagging feeling that something wasn't quite right and decided to go back to the field to investigate.
