What's up Bros? In part 1 of our 2 part recap, it is still reunion season in Beverly Hills and it's just highlighting why this show sucks. Kyle and Dorit get into it and Dorit actually holds her own. They discuss their friendship and the texts with PK. We get a brief intermission from Tilly as we recap her season, and what a bright spot in this otherwise brutal year. Kyle gets grilled over Morgan Wade and reveals that she won't reveal her life on this show... great. We get another silly scene with Kathy before Dorit sets her sights on Sutton. Whether you like her or not, watching a beat down is never entertaining. Not to mention Sutton is seemingly incapable of defending herself successfully. But the FF5 alliance is in full effect as we watch the ladies bend the knee to Kyle despite having valid issues with her. We donno where this show goes from here but it is not looking good to say the least... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What's up Bros? Welcome to part 2 of our RHOBH Reunion recap. In part 2 we discuss Dorit and Boz and how their friendship blossomed. We also discuss Boz and her solid start to her housewives career. We did notice some things towards the end, namely on WWHL and this reunion, that we didn't love. She does seem to be leaning towards the FF5 more and more and we certainly don't need more of that on this show. But we hold out hope that she will continue to be a solid addition to the Bravosphere. Then it's time for the Garcelle takedown. Erika Jayne, who spent a season redecorating her house, accuses Garcelle of simply not being interesting. Things devolve from there as the group piles on, saying that she doesn't share her life, condemning her for asking questions and pushing narratives. You know, doing her damn job... The hypocrisy from the other ladies in the room is stunning and the silence from her "best friend" Sutton is deafening. As the episode ends, its pretty clear Garcelle is reaching her limit. In her dressing room, instead of apologizing for taking Kyle's side once again, Sutton accuses Garcelle of throwing her under the bus. (The irony being that Sutton threw Garcelle under the bus but whatever). It's becoming more and more evident why Garcelle left the show, and we just hope she gets the last word in next episode before she leaves this failing show forever. Learn more about your ad choices. Today's show I sit down and talk to Rapper DaMAC, Resurrection Record's new artist. Who is Damac? The ministry began in 2007 after Michael Lacoste accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior. It happened in his dorm room at the University of Missouri – Columbia. With a newfound faith, and a passion for youth, his mission became clear: create art that magnifies Jesus and influences the youth. How would he accomplish this? By breaking boundaries and blending different genres of music. In other words, he wanted to make Deeply Anointed Music About Christ (Damac). His first concerts were in front of small groups of students, usually at local youth centers and retreats. The size of the crowd did not matter at all; it was all about sharing Jesus. Since then, Damac has gone on to do great things in Christian music. Damac has released seven albums (Immaculate, Climactic, Supremacy, Journey, The Elephant in the Room, Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil, and For Mama Mac) selling over 10,000 copies independently. In 2011, he was the New Band Showcase Winner at Cornerstone Christian Music Festival. In 2011 & 2012, he was a part of The Extreme Tour, a national Christian music tour. Also in 2011 & 2012, Damac was co-headliner/co-organizer of The Hipster-Hop Tour, a 20 city stop tour. In 2013, Damac signed a recording contract with Rottweiler Records, an independent music label. In 2014, he organized The Supremacy Tour, a 20 city stop tour. In 2015, Damac opened for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and American Idol Season 11 Finalist, Colton Dixon. In 2016, Damac was co-headliner/co-organizer of The Make Jesus Famous Tour, an 8 city stop tour. Damac has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Christian music today, such as David Crowder, NF, Sidewalk Prophets, Micah Tyler, Jordan Felix, KB, Cory Asbury, Sho Baraka, Canon, Britt Nicole, Seventh Day Slumber, Building 429, FF5, Tenth Avenue North, Trip Lee, Derek Minor, We Are Messengers, Plumb, Gungor, Propaganda, and Lecrae. Since 2016, Damac has worked with 2x - Grammy and Dove Award nominated producer, Jonny Grande, to produce his albums “Journey”, "The Elephant in the Room", "Hear no Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil," and "For Mama Mac." Jonny Grande has produced for artists such as Jason Derulo, Ty Dolla $ign, George Clinton, Ke$ha, Zauntee, Toby Mac, Steven Malcolm (Word Records), and Tony Tillman (RMG). In 2024, Damac signed a recording contract with Resurrection Records. A decade & 500 shows later, with thousands of people reached, the mission has not changed: make music that glorifies Jesus and reaches people. Damac says, “I'm just trying to be obedient to my calling and see lives changed through the power of the Gospel.” Some things will never change

We have finally made it to the season finale of Rob-Huh. Beverly Hills was a marathon this year and it ends with some tension amongst the FF5. Before we get to our big finale, we had another finale this week as well. Southern Charm tied a bow on the year with a holiday bash thrown by Craig for Sewing Down South. But Leva has taken it upon herself to talk smack on Craig to his business partners because she couldn't sit at the cool kids table. Then we get back to our favorite ladies in Salt Lake, and Shooter's dream of a Housewives franchise in Scottsdale are coming true because the Salt Lake crew heads to Arizona to heal. Which still won't be enough for Meredith and Lisa to move on. Then we finish off RHOBH with a double party. Erika and Lisa have teamed up and Kyle just wants to move on. The dynamic duo won't let it go and it causes some serious tension in the OG clique.
The Fox Force finally has some challengers... In this weeks episode we see Crystal take center stage as she goes toe to toe with the OG's of BH. Before we get there, we have drama between Nicki Minaj and Garcelle, Diana has Covid but still makes it to the aquarium and we check in with the lovely ladies of Paris. Then we get to see the Charming side of Patricia as she declares she too is just a B-List F&*k Boy. Its day 3 of the Aspen trip and there is a lot of tension amongst the FF5. More importantly, we see Crystal take a stand against the outrageous behavior that we've all been witnessing. Could this be the start of the rise of a new faction in Beverly Hills? Will the Fox Force 5 be dethroned? Welcome to the Battle for Beverly Hills...
No new episode of BH to recap, but there was still plenty to talk about in the Bravo social media world. We lay out the details of what happened regarding Garcelle's son Jax receiving hateful and racist messages from bot accounts. I was dropping updates on Pia in real time; including Patrick Sommers and his taking credit for the "engagement boost" in order to throw us off the scent. I then move us into a segment titled The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion - She Speaks Bravo Edition. This was conceptualized by @bravocandybetch. She suggested I do something like this months ago so thanks for the great content idea, girl ;) Pia and I lay out our dream reunion that is not based in any type of reality. Including seating arrangements, packages, and questions. It was a blast to live in a land of complete and utter make believe so that we could savagely come for the FF5 the way we wish Andy would. Finally we get into a quick round of Q&A. Apologies we couldn't get to more but we ran out of time gabbing for 2 hours! For those who loved RPGs during the SNES era, there was a game that forever seemed out of reach: Final Fantasy V. This unlocalized title was so legendary that it inspired the very first fan translation of a video game. Though Squaresoft eventually localized FFV for PSX in 1999, many still think of it as the black sheep of the Final Fantasy family. In today's Retro, our panel will talk about their history with the game, comb through the first half of the story, and examine how the expertly crafted job system impacted future titles in the series and beyond!Featuring: Jonathan Logan, Audra Bowling, Cory Tischbein, Quinton O'Conner; Edited by Jonathan LoganOpening and ending music by Miles MorkriGet in Touch:RPGFan.comEmail us: retro@rpgfan.comTwitter: @rpgfancomInstagram: @rpgfancomFacebook: rpgfancomTwitch: rpgfancomRelated Links:Final Fantasy V Advance ReviewFinal Fantasy V (Pixel Remaster) Review

This week, we discuss the early days of our favorite game publisher/developer Square! And Enix. Enjoy!! The History of Square-Enix - Part VII: Game-Making Machine 7 Last time we talked about how Square Co. become an almost exclusive Playstation game publishing company. By 1998 they had a multi-game publishing deal with Sony, and with the success of Final Fantasy VII things were looking up for the now very profitable gaming company. Enix, although keep in mind they were a publishing-only company and made no games in-house, weren’t nearly as successful in the mid-to-late 90’s as Square Co. was. However, games weren’t the only thing Enix was selling. Since 1991, likely due to Enix’s relationship with Akira Toriyama (the artist behind Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball), Enix began publishing a weekly Manga magazine to compete with Shonen Magazine, Shonen Jump, and Shonen Sunday. Enix’s magazine would be called “Monthly Shonen Gangan” (by the way, “shonen” means a type of magazine aimed at young men and boys). It was so successful that they published another fantasy-only magazine in 1993 called “Monthly GFantasy”. Both of these monthly Manga Publications have been selling successfully all the way up to now around Japan. You may recognize some of these names: Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, Star Ocean and other spin-off manga has been published through these magazines for series later including Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. In 1991 Enix also and a couple of other gaming companies in Japan helped fund the Digital Entertainment Academy Co., which is a school for game development. Speaking of games… The first game Enix published for the Playstation? “Bust a Groove” from 1998. It was a rhythm game developed by the now-defunct “Metro Graphics”. It was enough of a success a sequel in 2000 (Bust a Groove 2), and a more obscure third game on the PS2 called “Dance Summit 2001”, which even wikipedia didn’t even know existed. Following up the successful “Star Ocean” from 1996, Enix released “Star Ocean: The Second Story”, which was the first in the sci-fi/fantasy series released outside of Japan, and proved to be a pretty successful game with 1.09 Million copies sold worldwide. Although we listed the games on a previous episode, I’ll reiterate once again that Enix did experiment with publishing a couple games on both the N64 and the Sega Saturn, but middling sales from both of those systems is what probably led Enix to publish exclusively on the playstation after 1996. Square Co. during this era was pumping out games like crazy in comparison to Enix. Although it didn’t make the game, Square did publish the famous, and ahead-of-its-time, fighting game called Bushido Blade in 1997, created by “Light Weight” Studios (to be fair, they would also end up making the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon game which is neither famous or any good). Bushido Blade would be considered one of the greatest games of all time by many publications, and sell moderately well for a 1997 title with 388,000 copies sold in Japan. Also in 1997, Square Co. would re-release Final Fantasy IV on the Playstation, release 2 games that I couldn’t find any info on, “Power Stakes” and “Digical League”, and publish the sequel to their first Playstation game, Tobal 2. ...And then they decided to shake up the Final Fantasy series with “Final Fantasy Tactics”. Written and Directed by Yasumi Matsuno (the director who stepped down in the middle of FF12), with gameplay designed by Hiroyuki Ito (we have an episode on him btw), Tactics would be one of the strangest departures from the Final Fantasy series, yet one of the most successful and beloved with over 2.4 million copies worldwide, almost all of which went to snobby hipsters who keep reminding people that FF7 is not the best FF game, but their super-rare-totally-not-Final-Fantasy Final Fantasy is. I kid, I’ve never played it, so I don’t know yet. Square would continue 1997 with another addition to the Saga series with “Saga Frontier”, a moderate critical success that sold just over a million copies. A very critically successful sequel to “Front Mission”, “Front Mission 2” would sell a moderate 500,000 copies and be considered one of the best Playstation games. And you’ll forgive me for rushing through the rest of 1997, where we had an “International Version” of FF7 (whatever that means), a little-known game called “Power Stakes Grade 1”, the disappointingly unsuccessful side-scroller 16 bit-like retro-shooter “Einhander”, the forgetful “Front Mission Alternative”, and “Chocobo no Fushigi na Dungeon”, which no, we’re not playing. Final Fantasy VII must have lit a fire under Square’s ass or something, because they would make and publish even more games in 1998, many of which are classics. They would start the year mildly, publishing a little game called “Super Live Stadium”, but would make gaming history in February with the release of “Xenogears”. Praised for its complex psychological plot, and interesting use of anime-style artwork, Xenogears was actually one of the early pitches for the plot for Final Fantasy VII and eventually became it’s own game. It sold over 1 million copies and fans have begged for a sequel ever since. Not to be missed, “Bushido Blade 2” would follow, along with a Playstation port of FF5 in Japan, the unknown-to-wikipedia games “Hai-Shin 2” and “Power Stakes 2”. Now here comes another mega-game… ...Based on the popular horror book (gotta be one of the first games based on a popular modern book, right?), the survival-horror RPG game “Parasite Eve” would make quite the splash as a serious and cinematic game, praised for its storytelling, and selling almost 2 Million copies to date. Not all things can be hits though, the critically-panned Sokaigi would follow, as well as some other not-too-noteworthy games like FF7’s Windows port, Brave Fencer Musashi (forgotten, but it sold ok), “Another Mind”, which is supposed to be really bizzarre game with still photos of actors and shit in a horror game…., yeah…., “Ehrgeize”, the apparently mediocre fighting game which is most notable for its inclusion of FF7 characters, “Chocobo Dungeon 2”, and “iS - Internal Section” which is a “tube shooter” game, like space invaders. With the classics released in 1997 and 1998, Enix was doing pretty wall, but Square Co. was creating a fucking lagacy. And that legacy would only become more solidified in February 1999 with Final Fantasy VIII. THE REMIX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoPLHBhCRqQ
Sitting in on this conversation was like listening to old friends playing catch-up. Teddy Boldt is one of Brandon's favorite drummers in town, and one of Brandon's first friends upon moving to Nashville (awwwwww). If you ever wanted to be on the outside of inside jokes, this episode's for you! Nah, you'll get some jokes! Teddy grew up underprivileged in one of the most privileged cities in America. So to go from couch surfing and spending nights in his car to playing in one of the biggest party rock bands in the country living it up in five star hotels and tour buses is a story worth telling. It's no fairytale--listen to how a homeless fashion designer living in L.A. became one of Nashville's biggest, flashiest show drummers. It is an incredible story! Family Force 5 is a party rock band based out of Atlanta/Nashville. You've seen them on Van's Warped Tour, top of the Billboard charts, and many festivals around the nation. Teddy gives some insight on the personalities and the business infrastructure of FF5, and then the learning curve of dealing with that. We get to hear some info nuggets of what's in store for the next record and where FF5 is going. For all you ex-Wavorly fans, we didn't forget about you. Teddy talks about landing the Wavorly gig, life after Wavorly, and how he was literally seconds from walking away from music until he got the call to be the newest member of Family Force 5. Teddy is heavily influenced by 80's New Wave Music, so your guides found it fitting to play "80's Drummer Karaoke" with the help of our newest friends at karaoke-version.com. Special thanks for the beats on this episode go to Jared Kneale, www.jaredkneale.com, and of course our lead sponsor, Fat Bottom Brewing.
It's time for our Nobuo Uematsu spotlight episode. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tunes! PART I With the exception of Hironobu Sakaguchi, there really isn’t any other name more synonymous with Final Fantasy than that of “Nobuo Uematsu”. Composing either all or part of 12 of the 15 main-series final fantasy games, much of the feel and atmosphere, that visceral, unspeakable part of us that sings when we are reminded of a Final Fantasy, may be the melodies that Nobuo Uematsu is responsible for. With numerous remixes, live symphonic performances, and the original scores themselves, fans of Final Fantasy have relived their FF adventures through listening to the plethora of material presented by Nobuo Uematsu through their headphones while they do homework, clean their homes, or drive to work. There is no doubt that without the contribution that Nobuo Uematsu has brought to the series, much of our experiences with these games would be dramatically altered from what they are. Where would Star Wars be if it weren’t for John Williams? You could ask the same of Uematsu. Note: You will be hearing a large number of remixes through this two-part Nobuo Uematsu spotlight, as well as some concert performances, and tracks from the games themselves. The youtube links for all of the pieces will be provided in the descriptions, and we ask that if you like a particular piece to consider following the links and supporting the artists that keep the music of Uematsu alive. Let’s get to it… [small interlude with the main FF theme] Nobuo Uematsu was born on March 21st, 1959 in Kochi, Japan. Inspired by the music of Elton John, he taught himself how to play the piano at the age of 12. Shortly after graduating from Kanagawa University, Uematsu began writing music for commercials before being hired by Square Co. in 1986 to work on video game scores. For 18 years Uematsu worked at Square, creating over 30 video game and movie soundtracks before separating from square in 2004 to become an independant contracter. We’re gonna pay special attention to these years, as that’s where most of the Final Fantasy meat is at; but first, let’s rewind the clock back to his very first game score, co-written with Takashi Uno, this is a piece from “Cruise Chaser Blassy” called “Space”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcmWisadc9Q 1986 would end up being a very busy year for rookie Nobuo, the next game he’d work on would be his first that he’d compose entirely on his own called “Alpha”, although we can’t seem to find any tracks for that game, his next would be a NES classic called “King’s Knight”. Here’s the theme from that game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBui5DMZAVs December of 1986 would feature his next soundtrack, that for Suishō no Dragon. Here’s the intro track for that game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MIhB2mgcRA The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner would push Square’s stereoscopic 3D technology to the limits and with the music of this game, we would see a side of Nobuo we hadn’t seen before, you could call it “super pep” here’s a cover of the main theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDZhruBVzP4 Another soundtrack was made for a little piece of software called “Apple town story”, and he would follow that up with “Mystery Quest” (not to be confused with Mystic Quest, a later game). Here’s a taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_qIcMhmXJ0 With few exceptions, most of the pre-FF games Nobuo Uematsu worked on have been forgotten, with the most notable detail about them being that they had soundtracks created by Uematsu. Nearly forgotten games such as Genesis, Alien 2, and Cleopatra no Maho, which were next up in line, could probably be seen as pot boilers for what was to come, quick cash grabs before Square’s impending doom in 1987. Here’s a taste from the 26/40-famitsu scored Cleopatra game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGnh3e6wNdo Rad racer would come next, notable for being one of the few racing games on the NES. This is a track called “Grand Canyon”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpzbHphuVrk&index=4&list=PL0D98064E11A94D91 One of the first dating sim games would follow (I sense desperation) with the long-winded mother fucking title of a game called “Nakayama Miho no Tokimeki High School”, that Nobuo would co-score with Toshiaki Imai. And the last game Nobuo would score, a sequel of sorts to 3D worldrunner would be that of “JJ”. But ya’ll wanna get to the good stuff. I can feel it. Fine. His last effort of 1987 would be the soundtrack for Final Fantasy. This now-legendary soundtrack featured both the arpeggio prelude and main theme that would be staples in the series to come. He remarked once that he felt kind-of embarrassed as he hadn’t worked all that hard on pieces that would be hummed by gamers around the world. This is one of the best songs in the game. Here’s a cover for “Matoya’s theme”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdRMfqWNJok Beginning in 1988, Nobuo would slow down his work to 1 to 2 games per year, primarily being that of the scores for Final Fantasy games. Occasionally though, he would take a detour. Here’s a track from “Hanjuku Hero”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebIzHCFGxTc His other score of 1988 would be for the sequel to FInal Fantasy, Final Fantasy 2. Much of the original score from FF1 would make it into FF2 for our enjoyment, along with some original works. Here’s a remix of “Rebellion”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU06ttrbqcM For some reason Square thought it would be a really awesome idea to make a game based on the book Tom Sawyer, but if there were someone who could make a killer soundtrack for such a game, it would be Uematsu for Square’s Tom Sawyer in 1989. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auLBLk4ibAk Ha ha jk Here’s a real piece from the game. An effort from Nobuo to make a soundtrack more, as he calls it “scenic”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2uUfAcF7T8&list=PLfUvsxulQQd-zuBTVzmYzj1RvOArPnnEp&index=1 The Final Fantasy Legend, or as it was originally called in Japan, “Makai Toushi Saga” (the reason it’s not counted as an FF game in our podcast) would round out 1989 with this Game Boy classic and square’s first platinum hit at the time with 1.37 million copies sold. Nobuo remarked that he had difficulty coming up with the 16 tracks for the game because of the hardware limitations of the game boy. Despite this, the game would have a soundtrack considered as classic for many of its fans. Here’s a remix of “Battle With Creator”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXTMQ4APiwg Final Fantasy 3 would follow in 1990, and with this game came the fucking awesome piece “Crystal Tower” check out this power-metal remix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT8humrSC2c Considered one of the best Racing Games of the NES, Rad Racer II would be yet another game graced with Uematsu’s presence, as his 11th game score. Here’s a super upbeat cover of Gumball Crash titled “Fire in the Tires”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trFfjaNtySI The second Saga game or “Final Fantasy Legend 2” would come next, and would eventually be heralded as 97th of the greatest games of all time in a poll by Famitsu. For this game, Kenji Ito would assist in composition. Here’s a piano cover of “Save the World”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCLU6V6coqg Nobuo’s first masterpiece would come on the SNES and would be his only game of 1991. He’s called the composing process for the game one of the hardest in his career. Staying up with the sound team deep into the night, the music would be so heralded that one of the tracks from the game would go on to be official music curriculum for japanese school students. That game would be Final Fantasy IV, and that song would be “Theme of Love”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfV0YlvBpvE And, how can we call ourselves fans of FF IV if we don’t include Fabul’s Theme? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlklyML9Pu8 Nobuo wouldn’t write anything for Romancing Saga, although for it and its sequel he would assist with the arrangement, his next mega-work would be Final Fantasy V. FF5 would require Uematsu to create over 56 tracks, a favorite of the game being the song “Dear Friends”, which Nobuo has performed on countless occasions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgBccEEtu64 The next track is featured during the fight with one of the series’ most beloved opponents; Gilgamesh. Here’s a cover of “Clash on the Big Bridge”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQGcv3encAo We could legiimately make one of these entire episodes about FF6, but we’re gonna go ahead with the two big tracks from that masterpiece of a game. Here’s an amazing metal cover of “Dancing Mad” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqPP9tp6PKo And let’s finish it off with a favorite of ours, Terra’s theme. Join us next week for part 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG-Q9ELmGpw

Crimsoncommand I was recently playing FFIX with my brother and thought that it was really odd on how many child characters there were. Honestly, it seems that every child character besides Rydia and Vivi just diminishes the story. To me they are annoying. I'm wondering if anyone else feels this way or what your thoughts are about age and playable characters? Banedrom Long time listener, first time question asker. I started out on Final Fantasy VI with friends before graduating to the PS games. When Final Fantasy VIII came out, it was a graphical dream. Character design was getting more and more realistic. Then I saw the first new about Final Fantasy IX in video game magazines and was a bit disappointed. . Steiner with his frighteningly feminine eyes. And what was Quina anyways? Some see the character design of Final Fantasy IX as a hiccup in the more realistic design since Final Fantasy VIII. Was this a welcome vacation from reality or a disappointment for you guys? Shinru What were your favorite dungeons and bosses in the game? Which bosses and dungeons did you find the hardest? What are your thoughts on the final bosses and final dungeon area? What about the music for the final bosses, did you like it? Did you notice that the Kuja's last boss battle had Nobuo Uematsu get inspired by Black Sabbath's Iron Man song? Did you fight any of the secret bosses like the Tantarian, Hades or Ozma? Hehe Hades was a lot of fun to discover by accident in the final dungeon. Ozma is insane though. I enjoyed the trek through the final dungeon area, having to fight a certain amount of classic FF bosses up to the next checkpoint and I really liked the environments. Necron was insane the first time I fought him, that Grand Cross attack is scary with all those status ailments. I would grip my controller in fear every time he did that attack. A lot of people say Necron was random but he was hinted at a few times in the game if you read the writing on the dungeon walls talking about the god of death. The game does deal with the themes of life and rebirth and death so I never felt that it was weird to have Necron as a final boss. Plus FF9 was paying tribute to past FF games and we all know how FF3, FF4 and FF5 had random final bosses appear out of nowhere so it was trying to recreate that again. How did you guys do against him and what was your final party? Where you doing 9999 Damage with Steiner? Banedrom I know that this is a commonly debated concept from FFIX, but Kuja is a character that really pushes the gender roles. When I first played this game, I thought to myself that was a weird looking female character. Eventually, I was more and more confused as they dialogue indicated that Kuja was in fact a male character. What are your thoughts on Kuja as a "David Bowie as Goblin King - esque" androgynous villain? Void Final Fantasy IX is, in many ways, a throwback to the older Final Fantasy games. What did you think about the old school style and throwbacks in the game? Void The Active Time Events are a really cool way to get to know the characters in Final Fantasy IX. What did you guys think of them? Did you feel that they're an effective way of fleshing out characters? Void I love FFIX, it's my favorite Final Fantasy game. But my major complaint about the game is how slow the battle system is. Not only is the game slow to load into every battle, but a lot of time is spent waiting for ATB gauges to fill up or watching needlessly long attack animations. It is, by far, the thing I dislike most about Final Fantasy IX. So, two questions: Did the slowness of the battle system in FFIX drive you crazy by the end of the game? If that wasn't your biggest complaint about the game (and I don't know how it couldn't be) what is?

I found it much easier to just optimize the Junction system and ignore summoning GFs while in battle. So, I have two questions for you: Did you find yourself using the GF command often in battle? Who was your favorite GF? Shinru: We seriously need more FF final dungeons to be like this. FF3 had an epic final dungeon as you guys know *laughs* FF5 had a great final dungeon area, lots of bosses and it felt like a real journey to The Void FF6 was pretty atmospheric FF7 was atmospheric and felt like a trek to the Lifestream part of the planet's core Then we have FF8 which was a arguably one of the best. Maybe not as loved or iconic as say FF7's final dungeon but FF8 really nailed it for the final dungeon area. Great music puzzles, exploration, rooms and unique enemies and bosses exciting final boss All made for a great dungeon. What are your thoughts on the final dungeon of FF8 and do you think it is one of the best in the FF series? Would you like to see a return for more final dungeons like this in future games? VOID: After completing the game, how do you feel about the junction system? Did you guys break it in any of the ways that you can or did you try to play the game without abusing it? VOID: In most Final Fantasy games there tend to be parts that really suck me in and keep me playing. The pacing is just perfect and inspires me to continually make progress. There are also parts of each game that seem to drag on much longer than they should. These are parts that often cause me to lose my momentum or put the game down for days at a time. In your playthrough of FFVIII which sections of the game do you think were the best paced and which were the worst paced? Shinru FF8 Review: First off let just get what is wrong with the game out of the way first. The battle system, drawing system, junction system, magic and enemies levelling up with you in the game. Maybe if they worked on it more it could have been better but what we got wasn't that good. I basically played the game and never even went over level 20 with Squall. drawing magic early on is a chore, magic is ruined because you never want to use it and waste it. junction magic and re arranging it becomes tedious especially if you switch party members. The battle system can easily be broken, basically I got the Lionheart and kept Squall always low health and would press the circle button constantly until his limit break would trigger and then I would just kill basically every boss in either 1-3 turns of repeating this. Also the card game is really hard once rules change and unless you look up guides you don't really know what you are doing and it makes for a very annoying experience. Now for the good. that Siren summon Zell is awesome. Laguna is awesome. Quistis is hot. Rinoa is beautiful. Squall is fun for some angsty teens to relate with... and he creates a language out of just using ellipsis to speak lol. Now one thing I enjoy is that he progresses as a character and once he really gets his act together thanks to Rinoa he changes and becomes a better person. I really liked that character development. As far as the story goes I really like the idea of "time travel and outer space witches in a scifi world" Ragnarok is the coolest airship ever to be in an FF game I think. Find Your Way is a great creepy and eerie song. Mashing square during summons is fun because you finally get something to do during summons, although they are way too long in this game. I did enjoy the idea though. I enjoyed the game's "romance" theme and I know lots of fans like myself like the game because of it. That Waltz for the Moon balroom dance scene was fun and even the part in outer space where Squall has to catch Rinoa is great. And yes even the ending when Eyes on Me plays is fun. I actually like the song unlike some people Overall I enjoyed the game but its the weakest of the PS1 FF games, FF7 and FF9 are much better.
