When I open this podcast, I always say that this is for Orange County, the rest of Southern California, and beyond - and what a perfect example of this with this episode. Jon Sanchez is no stranger to this show - nor is his VP, Lacy Allen - but he and his brand, Native Son, are strangers to Los Angeles, and that is very interesting. Expanding your business is one thing, but what is it like to expand into the heart of DTLA, and what's more, how exactly do you do it? I am joined by both Jon and Lacy as they discuss the finer points of their new venture. From landlords to lease agreements, branding and culture, to the simple art of the liquor license - if you care about finding a good drink in Los Angeles at the very least (and who doesn't with that traffic) then this is very much the episode for you.Enjoy.The Best Ceats Podcast brings unprecedented access to the Orange County hospitality industry each and every episode. Let's kick off 2022 with a bang! How will we do that? By sitting down with the wonderful charming Jon Sanchez of Native Son, in Santa Ana. Native Son may not be a bar you're familiar with unless you live in the area, and that's a true shame. It is a wonderful place - unpretentious, honest, and welcoming to all. It achieves this while providing fantastic beers, great bites, and - rather recently - a cocktail program that puts many to shame. It is a fun place where all are welcome. We sit down to discuss how Native son came to be, how it has evolved, and what the process of delegation is like in an industry where there are so many constantly moving pieces and things that can go wrong. It should be noted by the way that we recorded this episode during torrid downpours which had found their way through the bar's very roof right in the middle of our episode, so, literally, there are no days off when you own a great bar. Enjoy!
We believe wholeheartedly that the future pastors and leaders are sitting in our very seats each and every Sunday. Jon’s disguise is that of a busy father of three, but he is a hero through and through. After six years of fighting fires and saving lives, Jon has seen quite a bit and helped so many people, but his most important job is being a husband to his wife and a dad to his three children. In this episode, John shares some advice that every family with young children can use including tips on CPR, two things every kid should know for the safety and a few others stories and pointers from his experience as a Firefighter with Lake County Fire Department in Central Florida.
