“We keep iterating on an old construct—let's stop and start over. How do we want to do things differently? Let's get back to first principles.”KP ReddyEpisode Summary:In this special ElevateAEC 2025 edition of The Zweig Letter Podcast, we're sharing KP Reddy's keynote from the main stage—a straight-talk session about where innovation in AEC is actually heading. Drawing from real conversations with major owners, hands-on research, and his own experience as an engineer and investor, KP breaks down why the industry's current approach to innovation isn't cutting it—and what needs to change. He tackles the questions that matter: What do owners actually want? How can AI and agentic systems make a real difference? And what would a new master builder mindset look like today? This keynote delivers practical insights and honest challenges for AEC leaders ready to rethink how they approach business, technology, and client value.Key Takeaways:Owners Want Real Innovation, Not Lip Service: True innovation means solving problems in significantly better ways—not just adopting new technology for technology's sake. Owners are craving AEC partners who listen and deliver true value.Communication Gaps Hurt Everyone: Clients frequently feel like outsiders in the process, with their feedback often ignored. Successful firms will prioritize transparency, owner-centric approaches, and collaborative requirement gathering.Tech Is a Tool—Not the Solution: Despite years of BIM and other advancements, core challenges with cost, schedule, and quality persist. The next leap forward will come from integrating AI, agentic design, and robotics as part of service delivery—and from business models, not software alone.Business Model Reinvention Is Essential: Shifting away from headcount-driven metrics, AEC firms should explore skin-in-the-game approaches—like bonuses for outcomes, equity stakes, and public-private partnerships.Client and Product Manufacturers Must Both Change: Building-product innovators report frustration as AEC professionals and owners often resist new solutions. KP encourages the industry to break the cycle of “the way we've always done it” and fully explore prefabrication, modularity, and automation. All this and more on this episode of the Zweig Letter podcast.KP Reddy is the founder and CEO of Shadow Ventures and a recognized voice on innovation in architecture, engineering, and construction. With expertise spanning AI, robotics, and automation—plus his role as a lecturer at Georgia Tech—KP brings practical strategies that push the AEC industry forward.Links referenced in this episode:Shadow VenturesKP Reddy on LinkedIn"Creating the Intangible Enterprise" by KP ReddyZweig Group & ElevateAEC ConferenceLearn about the Zweig Letter and subscribe: https://thezweigletter.com/Connect with Randy Wilburn on LinkedInGet your FREE Subscription to the Zweig Letter Newsletter.Stay tuned for more enlightening content from the Zweig Letter podcast, and make sure to subscribe for regular updates!Other episodes you'll enjoy:Architecture with Heart - Carley ChastainFrom Specs to Stories with Cherise LakesideBridging Design and Construction with Dan CristAI Transforming AEC with KP ReddyConnect with Zweig Group:Instagram: Zweig GroupFacebook: Zweig GroupTwitter: Zweig GroupLinkedIn: Zweig GroupWebsite: Zweig Group

We are in some big, destiny-shifting energy right now. The recent Saturn/Neptune conjunction at 0° Aries kicked off a whole new era. We're also in the middle of eclipse season, between the Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse and the upcoming Lunar Blood Moon on 3/3 at 3:33am PT. Eclipse energy is karmic and fated, and with Mercury going retrograde this week, it's no wonder everything feels intense, emotional, and amplified. Especially if you're sensitive or intuitive, you're probably feeling it.
In the first Elevate episode of 2026, Ryan sits down with Ankit Sharma to talk about the mood shift they're both sensing in the sector: confidence is lifting, but the workload hasn't caught up yet. Ankit's message is clear. Don't wait for the upturn. Get proactive. Build your brand, sharpen your value proposition, strengthen your pipeline, and reconnect with past prospects so you're ready when demand returns.Ryan and Ankit also talk through what's changing on the regulatory front, including proportional liability and risk-based consenting, before cutting through the AI noise with three practical starting points: automating routine tasks, improving customer communication, and using data to support better decisions. The episode closes with a look ahead to Constructive 2026 (3 - 4 September, Aotea Centre, Auckland) and a personal story from Ankit on family-set goals that surface blind spots and make change more likely to stick.Useful linksConnect with Ankit Sharma on LinkedInSay No to Say Yes: The Key to Turning Ambition into ProgressSubscribe to Rethink 4.0 NewsletterWhere else you can find usWebsite: https://www.masterbuilder.org.nz/Elevate Platform: http://elevate.masterbuilder.org.nzInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/masterbuildernz/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/registeredmasterbuildersYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmh_9vl0pFf0zSB6N7RrVeg

Being dependent on God doesn't mean being passive. Instead, it's to actively work with Him as our Master Builder, trusting His wisdom rather than our own strength. As we submit our plans, relationships, and efforts to Him, God builds fruitfulness that lasts.
Building townhouses and apartments is becoming increasingly popular, with Auckland leading the charge. More than 36-thousand building consents for new homes were issued nationwide in the year to December, up 9%, with multi-unit homes making up the majority of those. Master Builders Chief Executive Ankit Sharma told Mike Hosking this is likely to continue in the long term due to infrastructure constraints and population growth in big cities like Auckland. He says it's better to build before demand comes or else there will be shortages. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hamish explores Psalm 127, contrasting a self-directed life—marked by restless striving—with a God centered life that offers genuine peace. Through personal stories, including mowing lawns and meeting his wife's brothers, he shows how biblical images of family and heritage highlight God as our true provider. He reminds listeners that through Jesus, everyone is welcomed into a spiritual family that brings comfort in anxious seasons. Hamish closes by sharing his brother's journey as an example of how trusting God brings transformation, followed by a communal prayer and an invitation to connect with a faith community.________________________ If you need prayer, we're here for you. Reagan Langeveld, director of Symphony Construction and a Master Builders gold award winner, says these apps and shows oversimplify the building process. They often overlook compliance rules, regional differences, and the practical challenges that make a renovation safe and achievable. To talk more about this, Reagan speaks to Susana Lei'ataua.

This podcast explains how elevated blood sugar levels trigger the release of insulin, a vital hormone that interacts with various body tissues. Once activated, insulin receptors initiate several internal processes designed to store energy and build cellular components. Specifically, this hormone facilitates anabolic reactions, which include converting glucose into glycogen and transforming fatty acids into triglycerides. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in protein synthesis by utilizing available amino acids. Ultimately, the source highlights insulin's primary function as a coordinator for growth and energy storage within the body.
In this episode, we meet Lon Milo DuQuette, who shares his lifelong journey in the Western hermetic and magical traditions, including his initiation into the teachings of Aleister Crowley. We also hear from EWP student Cassia Elderkin, who studies under Lon and is exploring magic as a form of liberatory praxis. The conversation centers around Lon's new book, The Tarot Architect: How to Become the Master Builder of Your Spiritual Temple, and explores how the tarot can be understood through the mystical teachings of Kabbalah as a cosmic, archetypal structure. Lon explains how these archetypes can be internalized and brought to life in one's psychic and spiritual practice. He situates tarot divination within a broader framework of magical and transformative practices, emphasizing its capacity to expand consciousness, attune intuition, and illuminate the messages of the unconscious. The discussion highlights the intersections between Western occult traditions and Eastern spiritual practices, showing how ceremonial magic and meditative yoga converge as complementary paths for self-exploration and transformation. Lon frames these traditions as technologies of self-examination, offering tools for cultivating awareness, creativity, and personal evolution. Toward the end, the conversation turns to the magical and transformative powers of art and creativity, underscoring the importance of self-observation in creative practice. Lon closes with his reflections on the future of Western esotericism, offering insights into its evolving role in contemporary spiritual and cultural life. Lon Milo DuQuette, also known as Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford and by his neo-Gnostic bishop title of Tau Lamed, is an American writer, lecturer, musician, and occultist, best known as an author who applies humor in the field of Western Hermeticism. In 1972 he began pursuing his interest in mysticism, particularly the work of Aleister Crowley. He is on the faculty of the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, New York where he teaches The Western Magical Tradition. Since 1975 DuQuette has been a National and International governing officer of Ordo Templi Orientis, a religious and fraternal organization founded in the early part of the 20th century. Since 1996 he has been O.T.O.'s United States Deputy Grand Master. He is also an Archbishop of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica, the ecclesiastical arm of the O.T.O. DuQuette began writing professionally in 1988 and has since published 19 books (translated in 12 languages). Many of his books have been dedicated to analyzing and exploring the works of Aleister Crowley, an English occultist, author, poet and philosopher. He has written a number of successful books on topics in the Western mystical tradition including: Freemasonry, Tarot, Qabalah, ceremonial magick, the Enochian magick of Dr. John Dee, and Goetic spirit evocation. He is perhaps best known as "an author who injects humor into the serious subjects of magick and the occult." His autobiography, My Life with the Spirits, is currently a required text for two classes at DePaul University, Chicago. In this final Elevate episode of the year, Ankit Sharma reflects on a tough but important year of transition for New Zealand's construction sector. He explains the shift to proportionate liability, the push to clamp down on Phoenix companies, and how initiatives like FiNZscore aim to reward well-run building businesses with stronger credibility, better lending options, and improved consumer trust.Ankit also steps back to the bigger picture, unpacking the four global forces hitting construction – digitisation, decarbonisation, de-globalisation and demographics – and argues that technology is the single biggest opportunity for builders in 2026. He shares simple, practical examples of how members are already using tools like AI to save hours of admin, and draws on his Rethink 4.0 leadership newsletter to show why saying no, narrowing focus, and using a “not-to-do” list are now critical skills for owners who want more impact, more headspace, and a better life outside the business.Useful linksConnect with Ankit Sharma on LinkedInSay No to Say Yes: The Key to Turning Ambition into ProgressSubscribe to Rethink 4.0 NewsletterWhere else you can find usWebsite: https://www.masterbuilder.org.nz/Elevate Platform: http://elevate.masterbuilder.org.nzInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/masterbuildernz/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/registeredmasterbuildersYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmh_9vl0pFf0zSB6N7RrVeg

In this episode, we explore the foundational truth of Psalm 127:1 (NKJV): "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." Every marriage, every household, and every family is shaped by someone or something. Scripture teaches that God Himself desires to be both Architect and Builder of the Christian home. When we attempt to construct family life in our own wisdom or strength, the results are fragile, fleeting, and ultimately futile. But when the Lord builds the house, His work produces stability, unity, and spiritual fruit that endures. Join Pastor Jeff as he walks through the implications of Psalm 127, examining: Why every family needs God as its Builder How human effort becomes fruitful only under God's hand The difference between a home built on self-effort and a home built on Scripture How to invite the Lord to shape your marriage, parenting, and household What it means to surrender the "blueprints" of your life to the Master Builder This episode offers biblical encouragement, practical insight, and Christ-centered hope for anyone longing for a home that reflects the grace and presence of God. Many believers want to help others but feel unprepared to counsel biblically. If that's you, you're not alone. We train Christians to counsel with Scripture so they can help hurting people find hope in Christ. On Sunday, November 30, Elder Dave shared how, even after finishing his bucket list and stepping into semi-retirement, God made it clear that his story isn't over. He painted a picture of life as a hike with God as the Master Builder and the Holy Spirit as the warm light on the path, using Scriptures like Philippians 1 and Lamentations 3 to show that God always finishes what He starts. Through images of storms strengthening trees, trials as faith workouts, and grace powering our weakness, he reminded us that every seasonincluding trophies, tears, and all is all covered in God's fingerprints. We were invited to repent, trade our own maps for God's GPS, stay plugged into the Spirit, and use worship and gratitude as weapons in the middle of life's battles. As we left, the message was clear: no matter our age, past choices, or current season, we are still God's artwork, and He is faithfully, lovingly not done with us yet.

Every baptized Christian, however small or obscure, bears a dignity that no earthly monument can rival. The Dedication of the Basilica of St. John Lateran that we celebrate today reminds us that the Church is not first of marble or of gold, but of souls. The colossal statues of the twelve apostles that line its nave are not merely ornaments of stone, but symbols of the living reality upon which Christ builds His dwelling. Those massive figures, carved by human hands, point to a greater mystery: that the same Christ who made Peter a foundation and John a witness has made of every believer a living stone in His eternal temple. It is a humbling and exalting thought that we, so frail and often faithless, are chosen to bear the weight of glory. The Church's beauty does not depend upon the grandeur of her buildings but upon the grace alive in her members. Even the smallest Christian, hidden in prayer or quiet service, adds a line to the architecture of heaven. The apostles stand in their marble stillness as reminders that our own lives are being hewn and fitted into a structure far greater than any basilica. Thus, as we look upon the Lateran's soaring arches and its steadfast saints of stone, let us remember that the true cathedral is being built not in Rome alone but in every human heart that has been washed in the waters of baptism. Each of us, by grace, is part of that living edifice, one in which the Builder Himself has chosen to dwell. And perhaps this is the deepest wonder of all: that the Master Builder works not with flawless material, but with what is cracked and common. The apostles themselves were not marble when He called them, they were fishermen, tax collectors, doubters, and sinners. Yet through the fire of His love, they were made steadfast, and their weakness became strength. So too with us: our imperfections, offered to Christ, become the very texture through which His light shines. In every heart that yields to grace, the living stone is shaped a little nearer to its final beauty. The Church grows not by triumph or grandeur alone, but by the quiet chiseling of repentance, forgiveness, and charity until, at last, the whole structure resounds with one voice, a temple radiant with the presence of the living God. --- Help Spread the Good News --- Father Brian's homilies are shared freely thanks to generous listeners like you. Chartered town planner and urban designer George Weeks joins Elevate to unpack what “good density” actually looks like here in Aotearoa, and why the 5-minute pint test might be the simplest measure of liveability we've ever heard. George shares why density only works when you make the daily stuff easy: milk, a beer, a café, a park, within a short stroll from your front door. We dig into what NZ's getting right already (Point Chev, Christchurch terraces, Hobsonville), and what still needs work, like acoustic standards still stuck in the 1950s.You'll hear why the City Rail Link won't just shorten trips, it'll act like a “fountain of pedestrians” that shifts demand, value and development patterns around key stations. George breaks down why good streets are tree-lined, human-scaled and well-lit, and how developers can build projects that feel more like neighbourhoods and less like dense sprawl. If you're a builder or developer thinking about townhouses, walk-ups or mixed-use in any NZ city, this episode gives you a clear and practical playbook for density done right.Where else you can find usWebsite: https://www.masterbuilder.org.nz/Elevate Platform: http://elevate.masterbuilder.org.nzInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/masterbuildernz/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/registeredmasterbuildersYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmh_9vl0pFf0zSB6N7RrVeg

Where can your career take you when you're open to learning more? In this episode of the Master Builders series, Annie Ropar—the CFO of the UK's National Wealth Fund (formerly the UK Infrastructure Bank)—joins Riccardo and Shormila for a candid conversation about lifelong learning, leadership humility, and how a start in finance has evolved into purpose-driven management in infrastructure. Annie's dedication to curiosity and building great teams is a throughline in her career. A transition from the private to public sector reshaped Annie's understanding of success—shifting from rapid execution to long-term and varied stakeholder impact. She outlines their different approaches, with the latter's focus extending beyond amassing revenue to providing lasting social value. With humour and realism, Annie speaks to numerous industry motifs, including the senior-level gender gap and the demands of executive leadership. In this powerful message, we explore the profound concept of 'burnt stones' from the book of Nehemiah. Just as Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem's walls using broken, charred stones, God specializes in using our brokenness for His glory. The enemy may mock our past failures and current struggles, but these very experiences can become the foundation of our testimony. We're reminded that our scars tell stories of survival, not defeat. This message challenges us to see our imperfections as opportunities for God's redemptive work. It encourages us to embrace our role as 'living stones' in God's spiritual temple, recognizing that our value lies not in being flawless, but in allowing ourselves to be renewed by the Master Builder. As we reflect on this, we're inspired to offer our brokenness to God, trusting Him to build something beautiful from the rubble of our lives.

In just a few years, the construction industry went from post-Covid boom to gloom, despite record home consents in 2022. Master Builders chief executive, Ankit Sharma spoke to Corin Dann.
The Master Builders 2025 State of the Sector report has found that 52% of the industry insiders expected things to get moderately better in 12 months times. CEO of Master Builders, Ankit Sharma spoke to Lisa Owen.
In this Chief's Chat, Ankit Sharma outlines key reforms transforming the construction sector, from streamlining consents and easing liability rules to opening pathways for overseas building products. These changes are designed to cut delays, reduce costs, and boost supply chain resilience, while protecting homeowners and lifting industry standards. He also shares insights on the sector's recovery, with regions rebounding ahead of urban centres, and stresses the need for sustainable growth, workforce planning, and adopting productivity tools like generative AI. In this episode, we're joined by Dylan Bull and Alex Hawthorne from Levela Deconstruction—two founders challenging the status quo of demolition in New Zealand. Instead of sending building waste straight to landfill, they've built a business focused on carefully dismantling structures to salvage and reuse materials. From timber and steel to joinery and fixtures, they're proving that deconstruction is not only better for the planet, it's commercially viable and creates more jobs on site.We dig into how Levela works with clients like the Ministry of Education, how their approach compares in cost and time to traditional demolition, and why smarter waste separation is catching on across the industry. If you're ready to think differently about waste, this episode is packed with real-world insight, practical ideas, and a glimpse at what construction could look like with sustainability built in.Featured Guest: Levela Deconstruction Website: https://leveladeconstruction.co.nz Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/levela_deconstruction LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/levela-deconstruction-ltd/Where else you can find usWebsite: https://www.masterbuilder.org.nz/Elevate Platform: http://elevate.masterbuilder.org.nzInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/masterbuildernz/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/registeredmasterbuildersYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmh_9vl0pFf0zSB6N7RrVeg

I'm your host, Jamie Dodson, and in this episode, we're proud to officially introduce Wolf Precision's Prosumer Gunsmithing School—a first-of-its-kind educational initiative designed to teach shooters how to build, assemble, and maintain true custom rifles from the ground up using our revolutionary ACE system. We also share exciting updates on our online school launch, how to access training through the Wolfpack via Patreon, and why this shift represents the next big leap forward for precision rifle shooters across the country.
