Tony Dispasquale was excited to feature We Run Long and even more thrilled it turned into what it did! I love hearing about all the Trail Running Film Festival selections from filmmakers like Tony. They all seem most excited about the fact the stories they tell are being shared and the groups featured get the recognition they deserve. The inaugural Camp We Run Long brought together BIPOC trail runners from all over the country for three days of workshops, community and the West Line Winder trail races. Founded in 2021, WRL is a community of Black, Indigenous and People of Color runners seeking to expand their presence in a sport that they don't often see themselves in. WRL works to honor Indigenous lands and amplify diversity at races by partnering with race directors and running brands each year. The session encourages self-awareness and the use of breath as an anchor to ground oneself in the present moment. Meditation helps athletes elevate their game from within. Recognizing physiological signals is crucial for performance. Vulnerability can enhance creativity and performance. Breath serves as an anchor to settle the mind. Visualizing a protective soldier aids in emotional regulation. Detaching from emotions allows for better focus. Practice is essential for rewiring the mind. Acknowledging feelings is the first step to managing them. Creating a safe mental space enhances performance. Mindfulness can be developed over time with consistency.
Calvin Betton, James Gray and George Bellshaw answer your questions on all sorts of topics, including some from the very bottom of the mailbag. Here's what we got into... Veteran Athlete: Is there a future for grass court tennis? Wazza: Is it time for Wimbledon to re introduce grass court seeding? Having Swiatek as number 1 seed when she has lack of ability on the surface makes a mockery of the draw in my opinion. Ian Warren: Hi guys question about the BBC coverage of Wimbledon. Do you think it's time to pension off John McEnroe, Pat Cash and other players winning slams 40 to 50 years ago? As great as it was how many more times do we have to hear from John McEnroe about his rivalry with Borg. JG: Why is no one excited about the Olympics? Jari Jarvinen: Who do you think are best dubs players all time and why? This came to my mind because of Leander Paes Hall of Fame election. He won a lot and with so many different partners, that's a strong case for him. Definitely one of the best dubs volleyers Tennis Ranter: We see tennis players throughout the year jetting off to lots of locations, with air travel being the most used. What would your thoughts be on a carbon cap for players to limit the amount of carbon they use and encourage the use of less carbon intensive transport? Matt Gunner: For the modern great male players, is it the new normal to win 20+ majors? Pundits that played in the 80s and 90s often say how hard it is to win 7 matches over 2 wks and how remarkable it is to see numbers the big 3 have. For me, in the yrs ahead, these numbers will be the norm. Lynney Pin: Not really a question…. Just wanted to say I HATE seeing the ball kids passing the sweaty germ ridden towels to the players. Why the flip have they brought that back??!!! It's revolting. GB1: Of the current crop of young players (let's say under 25), who has the best tennis IQ ? Would Alcaraz be lost without Juan Carlos ? How far would Ben Shelton get without his Dad's coaching ? For me, the Big Four and Meddy are high IQ players, but what about the next gen ? Also, do you think players like eg Shapovalov, Tiafoe, and certainly in the past Dimitrov, haven't reached full potential because they use their natural game without developing their tennis IQ brains as much ? Tennis returns to China after four years away, as Iga Swiatek reminds us who's boss and Jannik Sinner takes a huge step forward by beating Alcaraz and Medvedev for the Beijing title. Meanwhile, the Cancun organizers are building their Field of Dreams in less than a month and several top players are already bowing out of BJK Cup. We also cover the growing chorus of abuse survivors who are taking aim at the USTA, and why this is far from the last time we'll hear about it. Plus, a few diversions about Zheng, "athleticism," Safarova's extremely brief non-return, and how tennis babies its players when it comes to endangering the people who work on court. 1:05 WTA returns to China with none of what it demanded 7:00 Iga sets things straight with Beijing title 12:25 Jannik Sinner gets his first Meddy win by using a tactic that's becoming more common … 18:35 WTA Finals in Cancun: stadium is loading ... We are back with another episode of the podcast to discuss the US Open 2023. If we had any good sense, we should have recorded this episode on the Saturday after the women's final. However, with foolish hope and unwise optimism we waited until after the men's final thinking Meddy could produce some magic. We got Meddy mess instead. For this episode we invited Howard Bryant, ESPN Sports Journalist and favourite guest on the show. We do not pay him as he has a serious job that pays his bills. We spent far too much time on the men's final and the state of men's tennis before we got into the ladies and Coco's run to her maiden major win!!! Was this a good US Open? Where is the tour heading? What are we doing about climate change and this outdoor sport? We hope that you will enjoy this episode and share in the fun. Don't forget that the discussion can continue and you can tell us how you really feel!!! We're on Twitter @A_Gallivant (Andreen), @JLR78 (Janina) and @RealzTenisFanz (Realz)!! We're halfway through Roland Garros -- most of the favorites are still around plus a few clay sensations on the bottom halves of both the men's and women's draws. 3 players who made the semifinals or better last week are already out this week; Pablo Carreno Busta, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Dan Evans. Tennis is hard, you know? Meanwhile, Anett Kontaveit won a professional tennis match. Naomi Osaka did not win a professional tennis match. Simona Halep gets another W. Coco Gauff takes a tumble. Meddy didn't look great doing it, but he won a big-tournament professional tennis match for the first time in a while. The Williams sisters go 0/4 in sets won today and only one of those sets reached 5-5. Time marches on. If you get the title reference in the quotation marks, you get a cookie. And a cheese coney.

For this episode, Harshini chose the highly anticipated sequel to the very first book we read for the podcast (Dial A for Aunties): Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto. The story picks up on Meddy and the four Chinese-Indonesian aunties we loved in the first book as they navigate Meddy's own wedding and an attack by the mafia. We've referenced the first book many times in our podcast, especially since Pooj loves it, but did the second book live up to our expectations?
Join your hosts Kim and Nia as we chat and mostly laugh about our latest read! We had such a fun time last year reading Dial A for Aunties and expected nothing less from Sutanto with Four Aunties & A Wedding. Meddy, Nathan, and the Aunts are back. This time, Meddy's the bride! She and Nathan are having a destination wedding in Oxford, England. Cue the new wedding vendors! Staphanie, who just like Meddy, is the photographer and with her uncles and Ama seem to be the perfect fit for the job. But what if there's more than meets the eye? Will this wedding go off without a hitch or can we expect some crazy wedding hijinks for the record books? This month on our Relaxing Reads podcast hosts Ann, Deb and Simone discuss Dial A for Aunties by author Jesse Q. Sutanto - a super funny and quirky novel that is part thriller, part rom-com, and a celebration of mothers and daughters as well as a deep dive into Chinese-Indonesian culture. When Meddelin Chan ends up accidentally killing her blind date, her meddlesome mother calls for her even more meddlesome aunties to help get rid of the body. Unfortunately, a dead body proves to be a lot more challenging to dispose of than one might anticipate, especially when it's accidentally shipped in a cake cooler to the over-the-top billionaire wedding Meddy her Ma, and aunties are working, at an island resort on the California coastline. But things go from inconvenient to downright torturous when Meddy's great college love—and biggest heartbreak—makes a surprise appearance amid the wedding chaos. Such a great read. Plus we chat with Author Jesse Q. Sutanto about how she came up with this concept, her favourite moment in the book and about this novel becoming a Netflix film.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
HELLO GONERS! En el episodio de hoy, your favorite bookish hosts, estarán discutiendo el libro “Dial A for Aunties” escrito por Jesse Q. Sutanto. Esta novela es una mezcla de comedia trillada con un poco de romance, un cadáver and four quirky sisters trying to get away with murder. De entrada, NOS ENCANTO ESTE LIBRO. King James, born James Ruhumuriza, is a Rwandan singer and performer of R&B and Afrobeat music. He is known for his energetic and entertaining live performances. The musical career of King James was launched in 2006 with the release of a single that met with little success. He opened shows for more popular artists for the next several years. The mid-2009 release of his single "Intinyi" attracted critical acclaim and launched his solo career. By the end of 2010, King James had firmly established his popularity as a leading R&B artist, competing for market dominance against Rwandan artists Tom Close, Meddy and The Ben. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/luckman-nzeyimana/support

Kelly gives the world's worst shout-out while watching playoff baseball and trying to make it through a Canadian holiday. We also pick some winners.
