Cheap fitness apps promise results for the price of a takeaway but most are built on copy and paste programs designed for the masses. In this episode, we break down why generic influencer programs often leave people stuck, the problems created by a lack of personalisation and accountability, and how bespoke coaching adapts to your body, your injuries, and your lifestyle to create lasting transformation.
Sollte man überhaupt joggen? Mumford & Kaiser - Das Boudoir Bizzarre fürs Ohr.

As wildfires tore through California and forced over 100,000 evacuations, even Leftist celebrities began criticizing LA Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom – and some left the Left altogether. Jillian Michaels, who lost her Malibu home in the 2018 Woolsey fire, tells NewsNation the state's response to wildfires and its COVID lockdown policies changed her views after a lifetime in deep blue California. Amidst the latest Newsom and Bass scandals, two celebrities have taken steps to fix the state: former reality star Spencer Pratt, who lost his home in the Palisades fire, and Trisha Paytas, who says becoming a mother in 2022 made her more concerned about the future of California. Can celebrities save California – and the country – from Gavin Newsom? Jillian Michaels is a fitness expert, entrepreneur, and media personality. She created The Fitness App, which won best-of awards from Google and Apple, and hosts the Apple award-winning podcast Keeping It Real. My guests today are Tom Digan and Greg Stewart. Tom is the co-founder of Ladder, and Greg is its CEO. Ladder was my first angel investment. What followed over the next seven years is one of the most unlikely and dramatic business stories I've been a part of. Today, Ladder is the number one grossing fitness app in the App Store, approaching $100M in ARR with more than 300,000 paying members. But the path from near death to dominance involved debt collectors, leadership changes, and a full reset during the pandemic. Tom and Greg built Ladder by being relentlessly empirical about their customers, ruthless about prioritization, raising money wherever they could, and doing whatever it took when most founders would have quit. We cover the messy early years when survival meant negotiating creditors, how they found PMF by reading thousands of app store reviews, and how they built a TikTok growth engine with no performance marketing experience. They share their long-term vision for becoming the category winner for health and fitness and the impact of AI and GLP-1s on their business. This is a conversation about how hard it really is to build something valuable, told by two people who lived through all of it. We hope you're enjoying the holiday season with family, friends, and loved ones. We'll be releasing new episodes again in the new year – in the meantime, today, we're re-running a fascinating episode on The future of AI coaching. The past few years have seen an incredible boom in AI and one of our colleagues, James Landay, a professor in Computer Science, thinks that when it comes to AI and education, things are just getting started. He's particularly excited about the potential for AI to serve as a coach or tutor. We hope you'll take another listen to this conversation and come away with some optimism for the potential AI has to help make us smarter and healthier. Have a question for Russ? Send it our way in writing or via voice memo, and it might be featured on an upcoming episode. Please introduce yourself, let us know where you're listening from, and share your question. But the version the public sees isn't the one he lives with every day.In this conversation, James opens up about growing up in a broken home, the emotional walls he built to survive, and how those same walls later destroyed his friendships, relationships and sense of identity. He talks honestly about being judged, misunderstood, and constantly performing a version of himself that never felt real.James reveals the truth behind his dating breakdowns, life after separation, business failures, and being labelled “the fall guy.” He shares the pressure to stay in shape while suffering body dysmorphia, the impact of fame on his mental health, and why stepping away from TOWIE wasn't a career move, it was a life decision.Timestamps 00:00 – Intro 01:02 – Coming Up 05:08 – Growing Up in a Broken Home 09:01 – Is James Lock Vulnerable? 12:41 – Self-Awareness and Identity 15:06 – People Pleasing, Losing Friends & Finding Happiness 20:52 – The Dating Downfall 23:55 – Life After Separation 24:43 – Why “Money Doesn't Make You Happy” Is Bollocks 28:10 – Business Failures, Partnerships & Being the Fall Guy 31:52 – The Truth Behind His Physique 35:20 – Launching Lockie's Fitness App 40:42 – Battling Body Dysmorphia 50:30 – The “Stop Giving a F*ck” Mindset Shift 54:15 – Leaving TOWIE 01:00:21 – Ex On The Beach Drama 01:03:29 – His Five-Year Plan 01:04:38 – Final Thoughts

You might not have heard of Ben Parker, but you've almost definitely heard of Runna — the incredible running app that just sold to Strava for millions For me, this one's probably my biggest regret but also one of my biggest lessons. A few years ago, a young entrepreneur came up to me after an event to tell me about his business. It sounded brilliant, but honestly… I couldn't see it: “Why would a running app take off?” I thought. Well, that business was Runna, the app that's now one of the biggest fitness apps in the world. And that young entrepreneur was Ben Parker. Missing the chance to invest in Ben's vision taught me a powerful lesson: always look for the opportunity in someone else's passion.Fast-forward four years and Ben's built — and sold — a business that most would call “impossible.” But behind that success is a story of sacrifice, pressure, and what ambition really costs. In today's episode, Ben opens up like never before about the realities of building something extraordinary — the highs, the lows, and the lessons he's learned along the way.We cover:How to turn your purpose into a thriving businessThe personal sacrifices behind successWhat makes a truly great founderHow to build a culture that winsWhat it really takes to make it to the topAs much as I'm still a little gutted I didn't invest, I'm blown away by what Ben's achieved — and I can't wait to see what's next for him. This is one of those rare, raw conversations you don't want to miss. And I've got a new book coming out, Boys Don't Cry which you can pre-order here: boysdontcry.co.uk If you enjoyed the show, you can also follow us: Instagram- @greatcompanypodcastTikTok - @greatcompanypodcast And if you've got thoughts, questions and comments, you can email us at: greatcompany@jampotproductions.co.uk THE CREDITS Exec Producer: Jemima Rathbone Producer: Helen BurkeEditor: Dan KingAssistant Producer: Rhoda Abrokwa Video: Jake Ji & Josh BennettAudio: Rafi Amsili Social Media: Laura Coughlan & Anthony Barter - Great Company is an original podcast from JamPot Hosted on Acast.
If you could design the perfect fitness app, what would it do? Let me know at witsandweights.com/question--What if a fitness app could actually think like a human coach? Not just track your activities, but understand them, analyze them, and make intelligent adjustments in real-time?That's exactly what I'm designing: an AI-driven fitness coach in your pocket built on the Wits & Weights philosophy of personalized, sustainable body recomposition, built on sound principles of evidence, physique engineering, and experience. It will adapt dynamically to your training, nutrition, lifestyle, and biofeedback as you take action and make progress. It will motivate you and provide accountability. It will "close the loop" between what you do and the results you're seeing. The tentative launch timeline is this November 2025!And I need your help. What would the PERFECT fitness app do?I want to hear YOUR ideas!Go to witsandweights.com/question and let me know. Are wellness apps changing your life—or just tricking your brain? In this mini episode, we dive headfirst into the world of gamified wellness—where every step, sip, and stretch becomes a competition. Health apps are turning self-care into a game, but here's the twist: it might not be making you healthier at all. What you'll discover in this episode: Why your brain loves points, badges, and streaks (and how apps exploit that) How fitness games like Zombies, Run! and Apple Watch rings push people to move—sometimes a little too much The dark side of mindfulness apps that reward you for “relaxing” Why short-term motivation often crashes without long-term meaning The real science behind habit change—and what gamified apps often miss We're not anti-tech—we're pro-awareness. This episode cuts through the hype and asks the questions nobody else is: Are these apps supporting your wellness journey, or are you just chasing digital trophies? If you're into digital wellness, tech-life balance, or just tired of being nudged, pinged, and gamed in the name of “self-care,” this one's for you. Listen now—and rethink the games your wellness app is playing. This episode is brought to you by Shield Your Body—a global leader in EMF protection and digital wellness. Because real wellness means protecting your body, not just optimizing it. If you found this episode eye-opening, leave a review, share it with someone tech-curious, and don't forget to subscribe to Shield Your Body on YouTube for more insights on living healthier with technology.

In this episode, the Baddies dive into the wild side of Strava — the fitness app that somehow became part GPS tracker, part social media soap opera. From low-key stalking to unexpected flirting, this app has seen it all. But don't get it twisted — it's also a powerful tool for keeping tabs on your fitness journey. We also take it back to our very first jobs in high school and share some throwback stories. Plus, we talk about Herbert's impressive transformation — dropping from 220 to 170 in just a year and a half. Thanks to running and a slightly better diet, even his walk changed.
Send us a textFrom reality TV to real impact this episode is differentI sat down with Ryan Andreas, a health coach and entrepreneur who built a 7-figure business app from the ground up.But it wasn't just strategy that got him there—it was mindset, resilience, and purpose. We dive deep into:
For years, I thought nutrition had to be all or nothing… you either perfectly tracked your food, followed a strict diet, or you were "failing." I spent so much time overthinking every meal, trying to find the “perfect” way to eat, only to end up feeling stressed, guilty, and frustrated.I thought true health meant rigid rules, obsessive tracking, and pushing myself to stick to the latest diet trend. But the truth? Nutrition should be about fueling your body, building strength, and creating habits that support your life, not controlling every bite.In today's episode, I'm answering your top nutrition questions: from intermittent fasting, to how to actually hit your protein goals, to healing your relationship with food in a way that feels empowering, not exhausting. If you've ever struggled with overcomplicating nutrition, feeling lost with protein targets, or rebuilding trust with your body, this episode is for you!I Also Discuss:(00:00) Nutrition Myths You Still Believe (and What Actually Works)(07:41) How Much Protein You REALLY Need (Without Going Crazy)(16:17) Healing Your Relationship With Food (Without Strict Diets)(18:07) Navigating Sobriety When Your Partner Still Drinks(24:47) Why Broads Is Different: Strength Over ScalThank You to Our Sponsors:Broads App – Get structured, progressive training and a powerhouse community to keep you strong, consistent, and unstoppable. We brought so much gratitude to this amazing episode! The main topic was the news announced this weekend: David's Leadville 100 performance won the International Trail Performance of the Year. Yes, tears were shed. To everyone who listens, THANK YOU. In ways that go deeper than words...thank you. We reflect on the training, the journey, how our lives have changed, and what's ahead. Shooters shoot. Next it was a "No Secrets" Q+A! Topics: why hydration recommendations of "drinking to thirst" are often wrong in races and training, fitness apps, early AM training, when training volume hits a saturation point, what weekly volumes might lead to breakthroughs, how love evolves (or doesn't), recovery runs, AI and energy use, gel flavors, adaptations to long-term heat training, the number of workouts we suggest per week, our frustrations with running media, and Listener Corner. This community kept us going with love and belief through some dark forests this year. This is OUR award. It would not have been possible if it was just us chasing history. But when we have this team lifting us up? Well, we might just F around and make history. We love you all! Huzzah!
