Rumor has it: Toyota MR2 and CELICA are coming back. So what's that mean exactly? It means that IF the rumors are true, then Toyota is the most enthusiast-based & spirited car-maker... by a landslide. Rumors are, both the MR2 and the Celica will get 2-liter turbocharged engines - no hybrid, no electrification. And manual transmissions WILL be available. Both cars will allegedly be all-wheel-drive. The MR2 will be mid-engine, and the Celica will be front-engine. From their 4x4s to the sports cars, the ENTHUSIAST ENERGY that Toyota has is unmatched. And in a disconnected modern world of generic 'mobility', Toyota is making cars you actually want to drive!! •Get the free S3 Magazine app•

00:00 - SHOW OPEN - Watch Out For Base Car Inflation Don't Pay Too Much For a Base Model Used CarWhen the top of the line model of a particular used car or truck goes up in value, many sellers of base-model examples of the same car try to capitalize on this by asking inflated prices for their base cars. 01:25 - INTRO -What Is Base Car Inflation? EXAMPLE: Price of the 300ZX Turbo vs. lesser non-turbo 300ZX and 300ZX 2+2 siblings From May of 2018 to July of 2022, the Hagerty Price guide shows the value of a 1990-1996 Nissan 300ZX turbo (the most popular model of the Z32 300ZX) went up more than 300%. Lesser models like the non-turbo 300ZX and 300ZX 2+2 also went up in value, but not by the same percentage and not as quickly. However, in spite of that, many sellers of the non-turbo 300ZX and 2+2 models tried to sell them for prices that were much higher than those vehicles were worth, hoping buyers would get caught up in the frenzy of rising prices for the 300ZX Turbo. That's what I mean by Base Car Inflation. 05:30 - You Didn't Pay Too Much... You Just Bought Too EarlyThat might be true if every car goes up in value, no matter what features it has. However, in reality, the highest specification cars will always be worth more money in the long run. The base model cars will continue to lag in terms of price. 06:30 - 1991 Toyota MR2 + Automatic Transmission = MehWhile a 1991 MR2 with a 111,000 miles in good condition would normally be of interest to enthusiasts, the original asking price of nearly $9000 was too much for a sports car that's been neutered by an automatic transmission. When buying an MR2, you will want an example with a manual transmission. 09:30 - The 1996 Honda Del Sol Si - Nice Car, But No VTEC LoveThe Honda Civic Del Sol VTEC with it's B16 motor that made 160-horsepower was a revelation and very fun to drive. However, lesser examples like this Civic Del Sol Si with 127-horsepower were just okay. That said, many sellers of lesser-model Del Sols try to ride on the VTEC version's desirability by asking for a high price. Don't fall for that Jedi mind trick! 11:50 - Optimistic Price For A First-Gen Integra LS With NO AC!This was a very nice car with only 55,000 original miles and excellent overall condition, but two things held it back. First, it was a basic LS model, that while decently equipped when new from Acura, today it's sorely lacking in amenities, including AC! Asking $15,000 for a base model car with no AC is a little crazy. If this were a special model, I might change my mind, but this one is not special. 13:40 - WRAP Base car inflation is real, so as you search for a used car, try to avoid the Jedi Sales Mind trick of being asked to pay too much for a lower spec model that isn't worth a higher asking price.
A „Monarchy Madness II.” március 17-én Bécsben, március 18-án pedig a szlovákiai Trencsénben folytatódik. A miniturné április közepén ér véget Csehországban, amelynek során a The Trousers és a Degradace Prágában, továbbá Jindrichuv Hradecben játszik helyi erőkkel megtámogatva. A zenekar 2006-ban alakult. Zenéjük a klasszikus, nyers rock and roll & a modernebb, dalközpontú garázsrock sajátos keveréke. A 2008-as első nagylemez, a PLANETARY PROCESS (Mamazone Records) első single-je, a BLOOD FOR YOU három hétig vezette az MR2 lejátszási listáját, megjelent Franciaországban és az USA-ban is. A második album, a már keményebb SOUL MACHINE (Twelvetone Records) 2011-ben Fonogram díjra lett jelölve a legjobb hazai hard rock/HM lemez kategóriájában, akárcsak a harmadik, a FREAKBEAT (2013, EMI Music Services). Ez utóbbin vendégszerepelt egyik legnagyobb példaképük, a skandináv garázsrock-legenda Nicke Andersson (The Hellacopters, Imperial State Electric). A zenekar negyedik lemeze, a MOTHER OF ILLUSION (Soulmachine Records) 2015 májusban jelent meg. 2019-ben a The Trousers Magyarországon a Junkies előzenekaraként játszott több nagyvárosban, amit immár rendszeressé váló közép-európai (Csehország, Szlovákia, Ausztria, Németország) turné követ. A turné számos állomásán a szlovák punk-legenda, a Konflikt vendégeként szerepeltek. és fesztiválok (Sziget, Volt, Hegyalja, SZÍN, Fezen, Művészetek Völgye) mellett rendszeresen játszik európai országokban is, megjárták Dániát, Belgiumot, Németországot, Ausztriát, Csehországot, Szlovákiát, Romániát, Szerbiát is. Felléptek a Black Stone Cherry (USA), a Peter Hook & The Light (UK), az MC5 (USA), The Blue Van (DK), a Peter Pan Speedrock (NL), a Honky (USA), az Atomic Bitchwax (USA), a Barb Wire Dolls (GR) és a Konflikt (SK) előtt. Itthon játszottak többek közt a Tankcsapdával, a Junkies-zal, a Supernemmel, a Kispál és a Borzzal, a Kiscsillaggal, az Anna & The Barbies-zal. #zenekar #zene #énekes Diszkográfia: Dive Insane (EP, 2007, MamaZone) Planetary Process (LP, 2008, MamaZone) Soul Machine (LP, 2010, EMI Music Services/Twelvetones Records) – Fonogram-jelölés Sister Sludge (EP, 2012, EMI Music Services) Freakbeat (LP, 2013, EMI Music Services) – Fonogram-jelölés Mother of Illusion (LP, 2015, Soulmachine Records) Dancer From the Dance (EP, 2018, Music Fashion Records) Invisible Darkness (LP, 2018, Music Fashion Records) A zenekar jelenlegi felállása: Kőváry Zoltán (ének, gitár), Locke Péter (gitár), Lázár András (basszus), Gulyás “Samu” Antal (dob) https://www.facebook.com/thetrousers https://thetrousersband.com/ Koncert fotók: https://www.facebook.com/PhotographyNorbert --------
00:00 - INTRO: The 60+ MPG Commute-Crushing HybridIf I wanted a used vehicle that gets amazing fuel economy at a far more reasonable price than a used Tesla, I would buy the first hybrid sold in the US. It's a vehicle that had an amazing EPA fuel economy rating and it's a car I still geek out over today, in spite of the fact that the earliest examples are more than 20 years old and they're not exactly fast. In fact, I'd say they're more… funky. And no, it's not a Prius, but I'll tell you what it is and why you might want one in just a moment, so hop in, buckle up and let's go for a drive! 01:20 - OPEN – Hybrid Technology Offered The Best Fuel Economy In The Early 2000'sToday it's electric vehicles, but 20+ years ago, if you wanted great fuel economy, you had to get a hybrid. The Prius was the first one to be launched in 1997, but it was a Japan-only model for the first couple of years and it wouldn't come to the US until model year 2000. 02:25 – The 2000 Honda Insight – The First Modern Hybrid Vehicle Available In The USIn spite of Toyota's Prius being the first mass-produced hybrid, Honda beat the Prius to American soil with the introduction of their first Hybrid, the 2-seat Honda Insight. While the Prius had impressive fuel economy, the Insight crushed it with a 61-city and 70-mpg EPA highway MPG rating. 03:35 - 2000-2006 Honda Insight is a more modern interpretation of the 1980s Civic CRX HFIntroduced in 1984 to the US market, the Honda CRX was a sporty, lightweight, front-wheel drive, 2-door hatch back that in its highest horsepower configuration (the CRX Si) offered sports car like performance that could give a comparable year Toyota's MR2 or Pontiac's V6 Fiero a run for their money. But in addition to the Si model, Honda also offered an HF or high fuel mileage version of the CRX that was equipped with a more fuel efficient engine and taller gearing to improve fuel economy. For comparison, the base model 1984 CRX with a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission has a revised EPA fuel economy rating of 38 city / 48 highway and 41-mpg combined. That's better highway mileage than the first Prius and matches the combined Prius rating of 41 mpg… without the complication of a hybrid power train. Of course, the CRX was much lighter because it was a smaller 2-seat vehicle, plus it didn't have to meet model year 2000 crash standards. But still, the fuel economy of the 1.3-liter 1984 CRX was impressive. Fast-forward 16-years and the 2000 Honda Insight Hybrid expanded on those numbers with even more impressive fuel economy. When first introduced, the EPA rating for the Insight was 61-mpg city / 70-mpg highway and 65 MPG combined. Those numbers were later revised to 49-city/61-highway/53-mpg combined. Yet even the revised EPA fuel economy estimates for the First Generation Honda Insight are impressive by today's fuel economy standards. So if that piques your interest, let's get into why you might want a 2000-2006 First Generation Honda Insight. 05:45 - You Might Want A First-Generation Honda Insight If… You want a car that gets amazing fuel economy, especially for a long-distance daily commute, but you don't want to pay the price required to buy a new or even a used EV with decent driving range between charges. You don't need to carry more than one extra person and a small amount of gear. So the big hold-back on the First Gen Insight for many was seating capacity. It has 2-seats with about 5-cubic feet of space to store items under the rear...

In today's PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 75 of owner stories with Tom from Vancouver, Canada. One of Toms earliest memories of Porsche is a plastic model of a G-Body 911 Targa on his dad's dresser. Tom mentions that even though his dad was a ‘muscle and hot rod guy' he was always into 911s. So much so that when Tom was around 8 years old his dad purchased a 1978 911 SC in silver. His dads 911 SC was a car that Tom recalls some great memories with. Toms first car was not a Porsche but very cool just the same. It was a '91 Toyota MR2, not a bad place to start your car journey. Having enjoyed the MR2, a ‘more sensible' Honda Civic hatchback followed. A car that Tom went down the ‘JDM road' with. So, when did the Porsche arrive? The Porsche for Tom (like a lot of us) happened later in life. One thing Tom did want was to give his two boys the Porsche experience that his dad gave him and his brother. Tom wanted a reliable 911 that ‘he could turn the key and drive'. He started searching for 911s from the 996, 997 and 991 generations. After a long search and having passed up on a few, the right one eventually turned up. In August 2021, Tom found a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, silver, manual and with a black interior - this one was just right. Welcome back to the PorscheCooled Podcast. Follow Tom on Instagram @tom_obear Michael (@michael.bath) owns a first generation 997 Carrera, comes from Australia and currently resides in Bahrain. Alex Kersten has https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbX1V46I9LQ (set up his own YouTube channel) - Auto Alex - and his draw alone has garnered hundreds of thousands of subscribers in anticipation of new content. And finally the BBC has started posting old film reviews by the great, and much missed Barry Norman. Since our last episode Chris has watched https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8936290/ (Mosley: It's Complicated) which also coincided with this https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct32fm (interview with Nikita Mazepin), and both had the same sort of media control. For our main review we discussed both the acting, and driving in the https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377818/ (Dukes of Hazzard (2005)). Moving on... For his YouTube picks, Chris went with Driver61 puttinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwca2n1cEXk ( F1 wheels and tyres onto an MR2) with... results. It also answered the question "What would happen if you wrapped someone up in tyre blankets?" His channel pick is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8zj1R6B-mDLx9vlF1VqTeg (SAMMIT), especially his time around https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lR-pVGiMiTY (Ebisu circuit during and after the recent earthquake).

Vamos a verlos.

What exactly makes a car fun? Raphael Orlove, a writer from enthusiast car website Jalopnik.com, joins us to discuss the conventional wisdom surrounding that question. His theory: you can have fun in any car, simply by viewing it as a tool for learning and as a gateway to new experiences. We debate whether the Toyota Avalon really can be considered "fun," and we talk about our automotive regrets.
