Yo no… ¡y a precio asequible!

Rumor has it: Toyota MR2 and CELICA are coming back. So what's that mean exactly? It means that IF the rumors are true, then Toyota is the most enthusiast-based & spirited car-maker... by a landslide. Rumors are, both the MR2 and the Celica will get 2-liter turbocharged engines - no hybrid, no electrification. And manual transmissions WILL be available. Both cars will allegedly be all-wheel-drive. The MR2 will be mid-engine, and the Celica will be front-engine. From their 4x4s to the sports cars, the ENTHUSIAST ENERGY that Toyota has is unmatched. And in a disconnected modern world of generic 'mobility', Toyota is making cars you actually want to drive!! •Get the free S3 Magazine app•

A new Toyota 4Runner is coming and we have a lot to say about it. Adams spotted a Gen 2 Toyota MR2. He likes it, but Steve-0 doesn't. Trauma surgeon Stephan Moran MD talks self-driving cars, starting with the recent Tesla settlement with the family of an Apple engineer who died behind the wheel of a Model X using Autopilot in California, and moving on to active driver assistance systems (ADAS), which he believes should always include driver monitoring systems (DMS). Adams eulogizes the Audi R8, which just went out of production. It was a great car. Steve-0 discusses Mansory, the luxury car personalization company in Germany that takes high end cars like Rolls Royces or Bentleys and "enhances" them with garish colors inside and out and other outlandish embellishments.

In today's PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 75 of owner stories with Tom from Vancouver, Canada. One of Toms earliest memories of Porsche is a plastic model of a G-Body 911 Targa on his dad's dresser. Tom mentions that even though his dad was a ‘muscle and hot rod guy' he was always into 911s. So much so that when Tom was around 8 years old his dad purchased a 1978 911 SC in silver. His dads 911 SC was a car that Tom recalls some great memories with. Toms first car was not a Porsche but very cool just the same. It was a '91 Toyota MR2, not a bad place to start your car journey. Having enjoyed the MR2, a ‘more sensible' Honda Civic hatchback followed. A car that Tom went down the ‘JDM road' with. So, when did the Porsche arrive? The Porsche for Tom (like a lot of us) happened later in life. One thing Tom did want was to give his two boys the Porsche experience that his dad gave him and his brother. Tom wanted a reliable 911 that ‘he could turn the key and drive'. He started searching for 911s from the 996, 997 and 991 generations. After a long search and having passed up on a few, the right one eventually turned up. In August 2021, Tom found a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, silver, manual and with a black interior - this one was just right. Welcome back to the PorscheCooled Podcast. In today's PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 58 of owner stories with Gary from New Jersey in the U.S. Gary's Porsche journey all started when his father gave him a poster of the iconic ‘80's Porsche 911 turbo. Gary was 7 at the time, living in Israel, and hoped one day he would own a Porsche. At the age of 10 Gary's family moved to the US, and then at 14 to Belgium. So, from the poster on the wall what was Gary's first car? Well, it was a Porsche! A red 1986 944 he bought in Belgium with his own hard-earned money at just over 17 years old. This was a car Gary enjoyed immensely and drove through Europe, a car that reinforced his love of not only Porsche but transaxle Porsches. Fast forward and Gary has owned a lot of Porsches, including 944s, 928GT, 994S2, 944 turbos and 968s. Gary's car journey also included a few special BMWs along the way as well as a Toyota MR2. Gary first 911 was an 80's Targa, followed by a 964 C4 Cabriolet. His 1999 Porsche 996 C2 came next, a well optioned 911 with GT3 wheels, LSD, Aero 2 kit wing and side skirts. Recently Gary added a 997 Carrera 2 to his garage, a full Aero kit 911 C2 in manual. Gary's garage is complete for now, a two car collection he is happy with and in his words has ‘hit the sweet spot.' Welcome back to the Porsche Cooled Podcast. ¿Qué modelos vamos a analizar? ¿Has visto a Verstappen o a Hamilton? Voy a simplificar….
The Toyota MR2 lasted three generations, sold hundreds of thousands of examples over three decades, yet is often overlooked when there are discussions of Japanese sports cars. Why does everyone forget about the MR2? And which one was the best of the bunch? Today Steve, Adam, and expert guest Aaron will argue their way to the answer.
In today's PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 42 of owner stories with Jeremy from the Cotswolds in the UK. Jeremy's Porsche journey started when he was around 10 years old when his uncle took him for a ride in a Guards Red 930 Turbo. Jeremy still has the photograph sitting in this iconic Porsche 911. An image he keeps a copy of under the sun visor in his 911 Carrera reminding him ‘where it all started and where he is now.' Along with memories of the 930 turbo Jeremy fondly remembers a 924S owned by the local dentist his mother worked for. Jeremys first Porsche didn't come straight away. His first car at 17 was an Alfa Romeo Alfasud. A couple of Triumph Spitfires followed along with a Toyota MR2 and numerous Mercedes and BMWs. All part of Jeremys journey to his first Porsche. In 2016 his first Porsche became a reality when he ordered a new 718 Boxster. Jeremy loved his first Porsche putting 70,000 miles on it in 4 years. The Boxster was a ‘steppingstone' as what he really wanted was a 911. In February 2020 Jeremy placed an order on a white 992 Porsche 911 and his childhood dream came true.

O mejor aún, ¿cómo usarlo a nuestro favor?

In unserer 31. Bryan Thompson started out in Utah and bought himself a Toyota MR2. He quickly started modifying it to go faster. He ended up going to college to get a Computer Science degree but was cut short because of his love for cars. He then followed a friend to Dallas to begin working at Dinosaur Performance (which later purchased Powerhouse Racing). Soon enough, he was giving the reigns to run Powerhouse Racing. Even though he preferred working on cars, he soon realized he could develop parts that he really needed to make. After a few years, Bryan was given the opportunity to buy Powerhouse Racing and jumped on it! He has spent the past few years focusing on manufacturing products and expanding their offerings. He is putting systems in place to better handle the demand for their parts and try to get them out quicker while continuing to improve the products.

Southern California is the home of the Import Tuner Scene; yet another reason the region is the car capital of the world! Sorry Detroit, Southern California is the automotive capital of the world for many reasons - and here's another one, SoCal is the home of the Import Tuner Scene. Personally, I didn't grow up in it. But iDriveSoCal's Professor, Clinton Quan, experienced all of it. From the first tuned Japanese imports to the seemingly neverending blockbuster movie franchise - The Fast and the Furious. Click play below to hear how the Import Tuner Scene developed and evolved here in Southern California and then took on the world. ***Transcription*** Recorded in Los Angeles, CA Home of the Import Tuner Scene Clinton Quan: You're talking about the Japanese cars, which really made the import tuning scene. The Toyota Celica, the Toyota MR2, the Honda Prelude, even the Honda Accord Coupe, the Nissan 240SX, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Mazda MX6. I mean honestly, who would ever thought that there'd be seven Fast and the Furious movies? Tom Smith: Welcome to iDriveSoCal the podcast. All about mobility from the automotive capital of the United States, Southern California. Tom Smith here with our pal, the Professor, Mr. Clinton Quan. Say hello, Clinton. Clinton Quan: Hi, Tom. Why SoCal is the World's Car Capital - Home of the Import Tuner Scene Tom Smith: Hey! Today's podcast is a continuation of our justification of that little saying that I throw out there at the beginning of every podcast, what makes Southern California the automotive capital of not only the United States but also the world. Today's podcast is another justification for that. The Professor was pointing out to me something that makes a lot of sense. It predates my living here in Southern California, but he experienced it, he lived it and that is the import tuning scene, right? Professor, why don't you kind of take it away because I have a bunch of kind of yes and to add, but as I mentioned, I wasn't here for it so I don't have that firsthand experience that you do. "I mean honestly, who would ever thought that there'd be seven Fast and the Furious movies?" Clinton Quan: Yeah. It really started in the early to mid-90s and I remember growing up in... when I went to junior high and high school, if you look back, these were some of the most popular cars back then. The Fast and the Furious - Import Tuners & Drifters You're talking about the Japanese cars, which really made the import tuning scene. Cars such as the Toyota Celica, the Toyota MR2, the Honda Prelude, even the Honda Accord Coupe, the Nissan 240SX and they had both a fastback and a coupe version of that. The Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Mazda MX6. Tom Smith: You're talking early 90s, the beginning. Clinton Quan: We're talking, yes. Tom Smith: Does that include the late 80s? Clinton Quan: Yeah, we could include the late 80s as well. Tom Smith: The cars at that time, the Japanese cars anyway, and I guess the other cars too, they were kind of getting smaller. Clinton Quan: Yes. Tom Smith: In the Midwest, I had a buddy that had had a Toyota MR2 and man was that fun to drive. A little go-cart. What about the... was it the Honda- Clinton Quan: Civic? Tom Smith: Yeah. The first Civic that... the first, the two-door Civics, remember they had the kind of bubbly blacktops or bubbly- Clinton Quan: Oh, you're talking about Civic hatchback because- Tom Smith: Yeah, yeah, yeah. "Cars such as the Toyota Celica, the Toyota MR2, the Honda Prelude, even the Honda Accord Coupe, the Nissan 240SX and... The Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Mazda MX6." Clinton Quan: Well, speaking of that, I remember one of my classmates in high school, he had one of those... the Civic hatchbacks. Tom Smith: One of those Civics. Yeah. With that whole genre, right? The late 80s, early 90s, that kind of started the tuning scene here in Southern California and the tuning scene...

Jim races his way to better coworker relationships Jim Fahey, or “Captain Noncharge” as he’s been called, has a lot of hobbies — competitive Scrabble, fly fishing, visiting Major League Baseball stadiums, driving remote control cars and autocross. He’d be enough to fill three episodes but we crammed it all into this episode. And the next time I visit Ohio, I’m going to get a test ride in Jim’s Toyota MR2. Jim talks about a really cool activity he’s doing every month with the staff at HBK to help reinforce the Green Apple message. Jim Fahey is the Chief Learning Officer at HBK CPAs & Consultants.
