The crew kicks things off with the 100-inning softball game supporting the Burton family, where Rafe and Scott discover that 12 straight hours of softball is apparently something human beings willingly participate in. There were legitimate athletes, Chris Kerber brought the stories and good Blues energy, and Team Rizz did what Team Rizz does best: proudly represent athletic mediocrity while somebody else actually knows how to play the sport.Moon, meanwhile, spent his weekend in Los Angeles with Goldfinger for their biggest headlining show ever at the Hollywood Palladium. Between the packed hometown show, backstage chaos and trying to juggle approximately every person he has ever met in Southern California, Moon also wanders into Amoeba Music and suddenly finds himself standing next to Matt Berry. His carefully prepared celebrity interaction consists basically of realizing, “Holy crap, that's Matt Berry,” which honestly is probably better than anything the rest of us would've managed.Delays pile up, passengers get increasingly irritated, everyone lines up to board…and the entire plane waits for one missing flight attendant. When she finally arrives, Moon witnesses a level of leisurely strolling that probably should've been studied by scientists. Hundreds of angry passengers? Connecting flights on the line? Whatever. She had a walking speed and she was committed to it.Rizz heads the opposite direction for a father-son road trip to the University of Arkansas and finally experiences the roadside cathedral known as Buc-ee's. Unfortunately, he discovers that Buc-ee's contains one fatal flaw: other people. Lots and lots of other people. He battles the crowd, buys a Cuban sandwich that immediately disintegrates inside the car and ultimately reaches the devastating conclusion that Buc-ee's is basically a bigger Wally's. Somewhere, a beaver just felt a disturbance in the Force. So yes, this episode has softball, Chesterfield sociology, Goldfinger, Matt Berry, airport rage, Buc-ee's, college nostalgia and weather-induced emotional manipulation. The Grand Theft Auto 6 rumor mill is firing on all cylinders. Alleged leaks suggest GTA 6 could make players actually refuel their cars, because apparently escaping the cops and committing fictional felonies wasn't immersive enough. Now we may get the authentic experience of realizing the tank is on E at the absolute worst possible moment.Naturally, Jean-Claude Van Damme doing the splits leads Lern to ask questions about male anatomy that nobody was emotionally prepared to answer. Suddenly we're discussing whether men have a “seam,” whether God is responsible for said seam, and why absolutely none of this information was included in health class. From there, Crap on Celebrities turns surprisingly philosophical when Dr. Dre and Billy Corgan land on opposite sides of the AI music debate. This comedy podcast also gets into Bret Michaels recovering from kidney stone surgery while apparently refusing to surrender his hat under any circumstances, Kacey Musgraves performing while floating on giant disco-ball truck nuts, Dolly Parton exploring avatar performances, Bonnaroo taking a year off, and St. Louis artist Slater covering Hole's “Violet.”National Treasure 3 inches closer to becoming a real movie, and Hollywood is ready to cast King Scott in a major role.A guy scales the St. Louis Zoo big-cat enclosure, an alleged staged fender bender turns into an armed robbery and multiple police chases, and then we attempt to save everybody's relationships with the 777 Rule. Welcome to another comedy podcast where apparently the only thing separating civilization from complete chaos is a zoo fence and a shared Google Calendar. We get into a Florissant case where suspects allegedly rear-ended a Volvo to force the driver to stop, only for the situation to turn into an armed robbery, a fight, a stolen vehicle and multiple police pursuits. Somewhere along the way, the unnamed Volvo driver becomes “Johnny Volvo,” the suspects become the “Jeep Boys,” and this comedy podcast briefly transforms into the least legally sound self-defense seminar ever broadcast. That kicks off a surprisingly thoughtful debate about whether the 777 Rule is realistic, especially when listeners point out that dates, overnight stays and vacations cost money. The crew argues that the exact numbers and activities aren't really the point. Take a walk. Go for a drive. Pack a picnic. Hit a park. Complain together. The Grand Theft Auto 6 rumor mill is firing on all cylinders. Alleged leaks suggest GTA 6 could make players actually refuel their cars, because apparently escaping the cops and committing fictional felonies wasn't immersive enough. Now we may get the authentic experience of realizing the tank is on E at the absolute worst possible moment.Would stolen cars come with random amounts of gas? Could you abandon one because the tank is empty? Would GTA Costco memberships get you cheaper fuel? These are the important questions being asked by this comedy podcast while the rest of society presumably does something productive. Then we discover—or rediscover, depending on how damaged everyone's memory is—the 1985 cinematic achievement known as Gymkata. The premise is magnificently stupid: take gymnastics, combine it with karate and create an unstoppable martial art. That's it. That's the movie. Olympic gymnast Kurt Thomas is sent on a dangerous mission where his greatest weapon is himself…and the conveniently placed gymnastics equipment that somehow keeps appearing whenever dozens of bad guys need to be kicked in the face.Moon reveals that Gymkata has been living rent-free in his subconscious since childhood, including scenes that still randomly appear in his dreams. This launches the crew into an extremely important celebration of the ridiculous action and sports movies of the '80s: Rad, No Retreat, No Surrender, Best of the Best, No Holds Barred, Bloodsport and the glorious era when movie executives could apparently greenlight anything as long as somebody knew karate.Naturally, Jean-Claude Van Damme doing the splits leads Lern to ask questions about male anatomy that nobody was emotionally prepared to answer. Suddenly we're discussing whether men have a “seam,” whether God is responsible for said seam, and why absolutely none of this information was included in health class. And then Steven Seagal arrives. The crew finds audio of Seagal telling a story about being in Kazakhstan before stopping to ask, “How do you say in English…” despite being born in Lansing, Michigan. What follows is a forensic investigation into Steven Seagal's increasingly mysterious relationship with the English language, fake accents, international travel and whether spending enough time somewhere can legitimately change how you talk. From there, Crap on Celebrities turns surprisingly philosophical when Dr. Dre and Billy Corgan land on opposite sides of the AI music debate. Dre sees artificial intelligence as another creative tool, while Corgan wants absolutely nothing to do with it. Moon breaks down how producers already use loops, samples and pre-built musical elements, leading to a bigger question: where exactly does using technology stop being a tool and start becoming “cheating”?This comedy podcast also gets into Bret Michaels recovering from kidney stone surgery while apparently refusing to surrender his hat under any circumstances, Kacey Musgraves performing while floating on giant disco-ball truck nuts, Dolly Parton exploring avatar performances, Bonnaroo taking a year off, and St. Louis artist Slater covering Hole's “Violet.”Plus, the CW dumps Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, DC apparently decides Gorilla Grodd needs a true-crime mockumentary, National Treasure 3 inches closer to becoming a real movie, and Lern takes everyone on an unsolicited but surprisingly enjoyable Whitesnake journey. Then we wrap things up with celebrity birthdays—including Dave Chappelle, Cal Ripken Jr., Steve Guttenberg and Vince McMahon—before heading toward relationship fun facts and the mysterious 7-7-7 rule. It's GTA rumors, '80s movie nostalgia, celebrity news, music industry arguments, St. Louis chaos and several conversations that should've ended three sentences earlier. In other words: a comedy podcast.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Episode 181 features Army Special Forces veteran, Alex Dekker, debut author of Desert Heist, a high-adventure thriller in the vein of Indiana Jones and National Treasure. Desert Heist smashes a lot of things together in a really fun way that feels both familiar and fresh because Alex spent twenty years in special operations, including time in the Middle East, and he brings that experience to the page. But Desert Heist isn't just a military thriller. It's a high-adventure story about a former Green Beret named Nate Wilde — a skeptic by nature and by training — who gets pulled into the mystery of the Lost City of Ubar also known as the Atlantis of the Sands. Alex and I talk about the power of fiction, how stories shape us when we're young, what it's like to take real experiences and put them into a fictional world, and why sometimes the best thing a writer can do is tell the kind of story we already love — and tell it really, really well. Topics include: The power of fiction and why the stories we love as kids stay with us Writing a fictional adventure story from real special operations experience The Lost City of Ubar and the hidden-history rabbit holes behind Desert Heist Nate Wilde as a skeptical Green Beret who wants to believe — but needs proof Why the book feels like a throwback in the best possible way Building a team dynamic that feels real to veterans and non-veterans alike Transitioning out of the military and into a completely new creative world The author community, ThrillerFest, blurbs, publishing, and learning a new industry Why former operators reconnecting can feel like finding home again What it means to tell the kind of story we already love — and tell it really, really well Episode Sponsors: VM Merch Go Pills -- use "VM15" at checkout for 15% off your order. As we were preparing for this show, we started to realize that there maybe just isn’t that much good pop culture stuff about the American Revolution. There’s Hamilton, of course. The John Adams HBO miniseries. Maybe the musical and movie 1776? And that’s maybe it? There’s fun junk like The Patriot or National Treasure. But what else? Think about all the great movies and TV series and plays and whatever else there are about World War II. Or Vietnam. Or the American Civil War. I mean, there’s a newish movie (based on a play) about THE WEATHER leading up to D-Day … and it’s pretty good! So what is it about the story of the American Revolution that makes it especially hard to tell well on the stage or screen? The Nose has thoughts. GUESTS: RS Benedict: A writer and bureaucrat whose fiction and non-fiction has been published in the New Haven Review, Fangoria, Current Affairs, and a bunch of other places Jim Chapdelaine: An Emmy-winning musician and a patient advocate for people with rare cancers Joanne Freeman: The Alan J. National Treasure: Michael Auslin on the Declaration of Independence's two simultaneous lives

The Declaration of Independence has had two simultaneous lives. One is the life of its ideas, the life that scholars pay the most attention to: a life of fits and starts, surprisingly forgotten in the first years after the Revolution, then returning with a vengeance amid sectional conflict in the 1830s, during the Progressive Era, and again during the Civil Rights Movement. Its second life is as a material document. It is an engrossed parchment rushed away from advancing British troops twice in its life, carried by carriage and train across the United States, tucked away in archives and cellars, displayed in patent offices and libraries, and eventually enshrined in a helium-filled case under carefully controlled conditions. As Michael Auslin argues in National Treasure: How the Declaration of Independence Made America, these two lives cannot be separated. Americans did not merely preserve the Declaration because of what it said. They preserved it because the physical document itself became a national relic—an object that connected generations of Americans to the Revolution and to one another.Michael Auslin is the Payson J. Treat Distinguished Research Fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He is the author of numerous books on American and international history and writes The Pawtomack Packet, a Substack devoted to the history of Washington, D.C.

Heritage Foundation Executive VP Derek Morgan joins Marc Cox to break down the Supreme Court decision that could reshape American government for a generation — and almost nobody is covering it. The overturning of Humphrey's Executor ends 90 years of congressional protection for the unelected bureaucrats embedded in federal agencies, and Derek has the receipts: over 90% of USAID employees donated to Democrats, and 75% of high-earning DC government workers told Rasmussen they would flat-out disobey a lawful presidential order they disagreed with. That is the deep state — and this ruling gives Trump the legal authority to start cleaning it out. Derek and Marc also tear into the birthright citizenship ruling, with Derek citing Justice Alito's extraordinary rebuke that the court has made one of the most serious mistakes in its history, and calling Justice Thomas's 93-page dissent — written in chapters — a monument to principled originalism. On court packing, Derek calls it a naked power grab. On John Roberts, he says the Chief Justice is too worried about what the DC cocktail circuit thinks. And on whether Trump could swap Roberts for Alito as Chief Justice — turns out he can't, but Marc Cox says maybe it's worth testing the waters anyway. Luis Elizondo credits journalists and Chris Mellon for bringing the UAP issue into the public eye through The New York Times. He describes Mellon as a "national treasure" who pushed for congressional oversight after discovering the Pentagon was withholding data. Despite bipartisan legislative efforts, "pockets" within the Pentagon—often termed "weebies" who outlast political appointees—continue to use propaganda and classification to hide malfeasance. Elizondohighlights the danger of these objects splitting combat air formations and stresses that the military-industrial complex often operates unilaterally, ignoring the chain of command.
