Is it green or brown bin day today? These are just some of the unanswered questions Henry will be leaving unanswered in this new show, recorded live at the Hay-on-Wye Festival. This is the latest episode in his acclaimed, occasional series where the celebrated writer tackles subjects so vast only radio can possibly contain them.Written and performed by Henry Normal Production Coordinator - Katie Baum Produced by Carl CooperA BBC Studios production for BBC Radio 4To listen to more episodes from this series search "Henry Normal" on BBC Sounds.-- Henry Normal is a multi-award winning writer, producer and poet. Send us a textAdventure films are a delicate balance of charm, wonder, and heart—which is why "Fountain of Youth" is such a fascinating disappointment to dissect. What should have been a thrilling revival of a beloved genre instead becomes a masterclass in missed opportunities. The frustration comes not from the film being terrible (we've seen worse), but from how tantalizingly close it comes to greatness before veering off course. With John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, and stunning locations around the world, all the ingredients were there. Yet something vital is missing: soul.Great adventure protagonists care deeply about something—Indiana Jones respects artifacts even while stealing them, Benjamin Gates in National Treasure risks everything to protect historical treasures while pursuing them. Krasinski's Luke, by contrast, moves through the story with curious detachment, displaying impressive combat skills without explanation and making quips that never land with the intended charm. The supporting cast fares no better, with potentially interesting characters reduced to exposition machines. The chemistry between leads is nonexistent despite the script insisting otherwise. Even the central mystery—the Fountain of Youth itself—operates on confusing, inconsistent rules that change to serve the plot rather than create a coherent mythology. What makes this analysis worthwhile is recognizing how "Fountain of Youth" illuminates exactly what makes adventure films work by doing the opposite. It's a reminder that spectacle without heart falls flat, that heroes need vulnerability alongside capability, and that audiences want to feel wonder alongside the characters discovering ancient secrets. If you love adventure cinema and want to understand why some attempts work brilliantly while others fail, join us for this deep dive into a film that might just kill the genre it hoped to revitalize. Subscribe, share your thoughts in the comments, and let us know what adventure classics you'd recommend instead!Written lovingly with AIBe our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

In episode 216, Marq and Beth go full *National Treasure* on the mysterious closure and equally baffling return of The Legends of the Wild West in Fort Comstock—Was it budget cuts? Dust allergies ? Or just DLP's way of generating a bit of news for us poor Disney podcasters ? At any rate, it's back now and Beth is going to be OK. Then, we pivot to other critical debates: the best (and *worst*) ways to haul your sleep-deprived family to DLP, and whether two days in the park counts as a “vacation” or a “cry for help.” GEMS YOU CAN'T MISS: Mickey and the Magician: The only place where "abracadabra" actually works - turning overtired parents into wide-eyed believers of Disney magic (for approximately 22 minutes). Even your teenager will crack a smile... though they'll deny it later. Tower of Terror:** Free adrenaline *and* a life lesson in gravity. Win-win. LISTENER ASSIGNMENT Got a wild Fort Comstock theory? A DLP horror story? Proof that the Disneyland Paris train is a time machine? Slip into our DMs. Or block us if you think we're liking your cute dog too much. ⚠️ DISCLAIMER: This episode was *almost* lost to Riverside recording tech gremlins. If you hear terrifying ghostly echoes, it's just a tortured soul over in Phantom Manor… or Beth screaming into her pillow. Send us a textMay 2025 marked a historic turning point for theatrical exhibition with box office numbers approaching $1 billion on just 128 releases – half the number required to hit that mark pre-pandemic. This stunning 75% year-over-year growth signals what could be the full recovery of theatrical moviegoing after years of uncertainty.Behind this remarkable surge were five films crossing the $100 million domestic threshold, led by Disney's surprisingly dominant "Lilo and Stitch" ($260M domestic) and Marvel's "Thunderbolts" ($180M). Perhaps most unexpected was "Final Destination: Bloodlines," the sixth entry in a long-dormant franchise that managed to earn over $200M worldwide – proving audiences still hunger for inventive horror when executed properly. The hosts dissect several recent releases, finding much to be desired in "Bring Her Back," the sophomore effort from the directors behind A24's "Talk to Me." Despite strong performances and effective sound design, the film's telegraphed storytelling undermines its potential for genuine suspense. Similarly disappointing is Guy Ritchie's "Fountain of Youth," described as a "dollar store version of Indiana Jones and National Treasure" despite its star-studded cast. Netflix's "Fear Street: Prom Queen" fares better as a fun but lesser entry in the franchise, while HBO's tech billionaire satire "Mountainhead" delivers mixed results.Looking forward, excitement builds for Wes Anderson's "The Phoenician Scheme," the Ana de Armas-led "Ballerina," and Ty West's vampire film premiering at Tribeca. The hosts also share news of Luca Guadagnino directing an AI business comedy and James Cameron tackling a dark fantasy project called "The Devils." These developments, alongside the emergence of AI-themed narratives as a distinct subgenre, reflect how cinema continues to process our collective anxieties and fascinations.Catch Alex and Max each week as they explore theatrical releases, streaming debuts, and industry developments with insight and enthusiasm that reminds us why movies still matter.Support the show

Send us a textDo you remember National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage? We do because we love a good Adventure. After all, it has so many movie genre ingredients and if you throw Nicolas Cage into the recipe well hot damn. And if Nicolas Cage wasn't enough, it also has Diane Kruger, Sean Bean, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel & Christopher Plummer, all of whom we don't remember being in this movie at all. So this should be fun.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

Welcome back to another episode of Astrology Talk Investigate, hosted by your Astrology Aunties, Christina Rodenbeck and Sally Kirkman. In this episode, Christina and Sally discuss the astrology of David Attenborough. A highly respected natural historian, broadcaster and writer, Sir David Attenborough has been entrancing us with wonderful nature documentary series for years. Attenborough turns 99 on May 8th and his latest creation 'Ocean' will air on the same day, timely for Neptune's move into Aries, God of the ocean. Always in tune with the Zeitgeist, Attenborough has increasingly used his platform to back environmental causes, a much-needed and much-loved voice for Mother Earth. We hope you'll enjoy listening in. Once you've listened to the podcast, do be in touch with any suggestions that you would like us to investigate in the future. President Trump's White House Deputy Chief of Staff terrorizes the corporate media with facts, knowledge of the law, the Constitution, and the President's scope of power under Article II... and HE DESTROYS THEIR ARGUMENTS on live television. Stephen Miller's ability to match wits and facts with any Trump doubter underscores today's theme: Republicans are simply kicking the Democrats' butts.
