This year marks the second AMCP Annual meeting where Prime and MRx have showed up as one organization. But what does it mean for our business to show up at a crucial trade event like this? We are joined by two of our leaders responsible for putting our best foot forward at AMCP Annual, Pat Gleason, Assistant Vice President of Health Outcomes, and David Eckwright, Senior Director of Clinical Project and Program Management, to tell us more.
Jazz-laden melodies are typically the sonic output of “The Big Easy” but this week, it's a special episode as we take you to the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Annual Meeting, which was in New Orleans. Leading researchers from Prime Therapeutics and Magellan Rx are at the show, and we talk with these health care experts from our Clinical and Health Outcomes teams who are using integrated medical and pharmacy claims data to evaluate real-world drug utilization, managed care pharmacy programs, and associated costs of care for a range of conditions, including weight loss, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and multiple sclerosis. And, in the spirit of our host city, we have a little fun with our guests and see how much they know about “The Big Easy.” We even had a drop in visit from Susan Cantrell, AMCP CEO, who talked with us about how AMCP is on the forefront of pharmacy trends, but also how the organization seeks to improve access to care and reduce costs, particularly as health care trends show that the pharmacy benefit is becoming more expensive. Dig into the research All newsroom content https://www.primetherapeutics.com/ Guests: Landon Marshall, principal, health outcomes research Ben Urick, senior principal, health outcomes research Yuqian Liu, senior director, clinical account services Kyle Thompson, principal, data scientist Nick Friedlander, clinical program pharmacist Pat Gleason, assistant vice president, health outcomes David Eckwright, senior director, clinical project and program management Kristen Reimers, senior vice president of specialty clinical solutions
Welcome to Pharmacy Friends – we bring industry experts to the same table to talk about what is happening in pharmacy today, what is coming, and most importantly, what it means to you. A hot topic in the health care industry is GLP1s and chronic weight management. In this last segment of our two-part episode, our experts discuss Prime's analysis of real-world integrated pharmacy and medical claims data. Hosting today's episode “The Skinny on GLP1s,” is Maryam Tabatabai, vice president for clinical information. Joining her are two experts, David Lassen, a clinic pharmacist and Prime's Chief Clinical Officer, who has strategic oversight of clinical services and support for customers. Pat Gleason, assistant vice president, leads Prime/MRx's health outcomes team which performs deep dives into research data. These three experts discuss how their data shows low adherence and increased costs in the first year and how they hope to see additional data to refine our guidance on GLP1s and chronic weight management approaches. The Skinny on GLP-1s: Part 1 Real-world analysis of GLP-1a drugs for weight loss finds low adherence and increased cost in first year All Pharmacy Friends episodes https://www.primetherapeutics.com/
TheAMCP Podcast Series powered by PopHealth Week (@PopHealthWeek) discusses population health strategies for providers with your hosts Fred Goldstein and Gregg Masters. This week we discuss the 'digital therapeutics' space, a fascinating and rapidly growing area of medicine that will undoubtedly become increasingly relevant in the digital age. Our guests include: Patrick Gleason, PharmD, FCCP, FAMCP, BCPS, Assitant, VP for Health Outcomes and Nick Friedlander, PharmD, Clinical Programs Pharmacist, Health Outcomes at Prime Therapeutics. A PBM, Prime Therapeutics launched in 1998 by two Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, Prime has grown steadily. Prime partners with 19 Blue Plan owner clients. This unique ownership structure makes it possible for Prime to remain absolutely committed to the health of the members served. Prime manages pharmacy benefits for nearly 33 million members through our relationships with health plans, employers, and government programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. Dr. Pat Gleason leads Prime's clinical health outcomes assessment team in developing and improving pharmacy benefit management programs. Through integrated medical and pharmacy claims data analysis, he assesses clinical program opportunities and post-implementation outcomes. In addition, he negotiates and fulfills pharmaceutical manufacturer value-based purchasing agreements. Dr. Nick Friedlander is a clinical programs pharmacist in the Health Outcomes division of Prime Therapeutics. He completed my PGY-1 managed care residency with Prime earlier this year and gained exposure to the realm of digital therapeutics as Prime developed a digital strategy designed to improve member outcomes and deliver quality care through novel channels.
We cover a bunch of news popping out of the world of comics! Plus them sweet covers that Pat Gleason has been making over at Marvel. Who is a better villain Arnolds Mr. Freeze or Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face? THE HARD HITTING QUESTIONS!Plus we talk about Jared Leto back as The Joker in ZACK SNYDERS JUSTICE LEAGUE, it is historical because he is the only actor to reprise the role more than once. And we go deep on Wanda Vision!BE A RAD FRIEND!Be a part of our Let's Go! This week, the Boost Mobile-sponsored Car Con Carne finds me driving to Oak Lawn to meet Chicago band Black Bear Rodeo at Grassano's (5651 W 87th St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453). Grassano's pizza puffs are ginormous and delicious, and their reputation on the south side is well-deserved. The band started the podcast with a live version of "California," which they rehearsed the previous night in another Mazda! Here's what's in store for you this week: Pat Gleason of Gleason Landscaping came by, and Black Bear Rodeo sang him an impromptu song The Grassano's parking lot exploded with local bands... and beer... when the Ridgelands and Criminal Kids came out for the recording Human meat is the best kind of meat We had two plates for the five of us. And these puffs are too big and too greasy to *not* have a plate. The best gig they ever played. There was alcohol involved. Upcoming gigs for Black Bear Rodeo: Moe's Tavern and Bada Brew The band's just-shot video for "California" The Boost Mobile Social Media Message of the Week comes from listener Johnny. He's a boob man.
