Good Monday! It's been a quiet weekend so I changed things up a touch with the podcast format, starting off with the news and rumors segment! The news this week brings us the official announcement of a Black Canary movie on HBO Max starring Journee Smollet, the casting of Poison Ivy for Batwoman, and rumors of Multiverse of Madness and the Flash movie! Then it's off to the comic pull list, where I am happy to be able to spotlight a off number of comics with excellent character and/or creator representation! That list includes two Mirka Andolfo projects, Joelle Jones' Wonder Girl, Peach Momoko's Demon Days reimagining of the Marvel Universe, and more! It's a wonderful week for positive representation. Finally, the last thing I talk about on this episode are the November Marvel and DC comics solicitations. Marvel's list includes a number of one-shots and mini series', while DC's is a whole lot of bat-family goodness! There's so much to look forward to at the end of the year, and always more being added on! I'll be back this Friday, September 3rd for the weekly B episode, covering the comic book Pick list, What If...? Episode 4, Titans episode 6, and anything else relevant for discussion! Have a chill week, stay positive, and sweat it out about comics! It's Friday, everyone! This week's "B" episode is a little shorter than what I've been putting out recently because there was no Wednesday media to dissect, and the news was a bit quiet. Still, I have a long list of new comics from this week to discuss, including Mirka Andolfo's Sweet Paprika #1, Barbaric and Batman Reptilian #2, and the final issues of Cable, Beta Ray Bill, and Eternals. Since comics talk makes up the bulk of this episode, I didn't list any time stamps to follow, but the news and rumors segments is at the end! Covering Mirka Andolfo's Red Sonja, Shang Chi marketing, Michael B Jordan's Superman movie, and some more MCU rumors! I'll be back on Monday, AUGUST 2nd for another episode covering the weekly comic book pull list, tonight's episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and whatever other relevant news hits the internet between now and then! Till that time, stay safe, stay hungry, and keep it sweaty. The podcast began on August 1, 2012, and Paul and Derek discuss some of the things they've done over the past six years, the number of episodes they've published, the amount of interviews they've conducted, etc. It's a celebratory time, and the Two Guys hope that listeners will join in on the celebration and chime in with some of their favorite moments from The Comics Alternative's past. After a brief discussion of the podcast's anniversary, Paul and Derek then leap into the episode's core, a discussion of five recent #1 titles. They begin with Ann Nocenti and David Aja's The Seeds, the latest in Dark Horse Comics' Berger Books imprint. The guys are fascinated by this first issue, not only with Nocenti's multi-layered storytelling, but also with Aja's signature art and design. They then look at the first issue of Tini Howard and Nick Robles's Euthanauts, part of IDW Publishing's Black Crown imprint. While they're intrigued by the series' premise, they're not entirely sure if this is a successful #1 issue. There are confusing moments and, arguably, too many unanswered questions that dampen any desire to read on before the trade. After that, Paul and Derek discuss two recent #1 titles from Image Comics. First, they look at Aleš Kot and Tradd Moore's The New World, an intriguing futuristic narrative that juggles contemporary socio-political concerns along with a Romeo and Juliet-inspired storyline. They also review the first issue of Mirka Andolfo's Unnatural, an erotic -- but tasteful -- anthropomorphic tale that was originally published in Italian and now is available as a limited series. Finally, the guys wrap up with the first issue of Cullen Bunn and Jonas Scharf's Bone Parish (BOOM! Studios). This appears to be a horror title -- after all, that's primarily what Bunn is known for -- but as Paul and Derek point out, this first issue reads more as a crime mystery than it does horror. It's an interesting premise, one that the guys are curious to see unfold. So enjoy this week's episode, and celebrate The Comics Alternative's sixth anniversary!

It's going to be really emotional. It's going to be all about Oliver's family, but not the family we're thinking of right now. It's going to end in a giant explosion, but not where we think it's going to end, and the emotional punch is going to be bigger than the actual physical part of the bombs going off.” Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/04/07/spoiler-room-arrow-blacklist-scandal/ ARROW: MANU BENNETT'S DEATHSTROKE WILL RETURN, CONFIRMS STEPHEN AMELL (Date: 10 April 2017) Before “Arrow” Season 5 thunders to its conclusion, Deathstroke will return to the series. On Twitter, star Stephen Amell confirmed that Manu Bennett will reprise his role as Slade Wilson. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim went on to confirm Bennett's return as well. Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-deathstroke-manu-bennett-return-season-5/ Manu Bennett's Deathstroke Will Return To Arrow, Despite Actor's Denials (Date: 12 April 2017) Bennett had tweeted that on Monday that he wasn't returning to Arrow, and then followed it up yesterday with a tweet that read, "Enough b.s about d.s!!! FACT: Deathstroke Arrow are currently filming in Vancouver IS NOT ME. I am in Auckland filming The Shannara Chronicles." While Bennett was not currently filming Arrow, it seems that he is or will be at some point this week. The "other" Deathstroke was likely a stunt performer, there to shoot some scenes for which Bennett wouldn't have removed the character's trademark helmet. The statue features Diana in an action-ready pose, bracing for combat with her sword and shield in hand. The base suggests it will interlock with other statues, though on its own is rather boring. Still, the lush reds and rich golds and blues are stunning, and Kotobukiya always excels at sculpting hair. The statue also holds a well-crafted resemblance to Gal Gadot, who has her trademark golden lasso at her side. Wonder Woman will retail for 13,800 Yen, which translates to about $124 USD. She is shipping sometime in July of 2017. Rucka took to his Tumblr to tell fans that he would be leaving the title due to the strain of the twice-monthly schedule. Identifying it as his last issue on the title "for the time being," Rucka advised fans against assuming the worst and wrote, "I just can't maintain the pace on the title while also fulfilling my commitments to my other collaborators. It is, genuinely, as simple as that." Shortly thereafter, Sharp took to Facebook to confirm that he, too, would be leaving the title -- but cryptically teasing that he wouldn't be going too far. Fontana has signed on to write five issues of the twice-monthly series for the heroine, beginning with July's No. 26, with a storyline that will introduce a new villain into the DC Universe. The move comes fresh off the success of her DC Super Hero Girls work. The artist for Fontana's first two issues will be Mirka Andolfo, whose work has previously appeared in the DC Comics: Bombshells series. Fontana and Andolfo's first issue of Wonder Woman, No. 26, will be released in comic stores and digitally July 12, with No. 27 to be released July 26.
