Buarach bónais bainte de na bainc. The Government has confirmed that the limits and other restrictions that were added to salaries and bonuses in the country's banks during the financial crisis over ten years ago will be eased. Tá sé deimhnithe ag an Rialtas go maolófar na teorainneacha agus srianta eile a cuireadh le tuarastail agus bónais i mbainc na tíre le linn na géarchéime airgeadais os cionn deich mbliana ó shin. Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe presented the proposal to the Government today. Is é an tAire Airgeadais Paschal Donohoe a chuir an moladh faoi bhráid an Rialtais inniu. As a result of the decision to accept the proposal, banks will now be allowed to pay bonuses of up to €20,000 to their employees. De thoradh an chinnidh glacadh leis an moladh, beidh cead feasta ag na bainc bónais suas le €20,000 a íoc lena bhfostaithe. Restrictions on other benefits, such as health insurance and childcare, will also be lifted. Cuirfear ar neamhní freisin na srianta a bhí ar shochair eile, leithéidí aráchais sláinte agus cúraim leanaí. In the case of the Bank of Ireland, the €500,000 restriction on salaries will also be abolished. I gcás Bhanc na hÉireann, cuirfear deireadh chomh maith leis an srian €500,000 ar thuarastail. That's because the State has no more stake in that bank. Sin mar gheall nach bhfuil aon sciar níos mó ag an Stát sa bhanc sin. When the State's share in AIB and Permanent TSB is further reduced, the restriction on salaries in those banks will also be lifted. Nuair a laghdófar tuilleadh sciar an Stáit in AIB agus Permanent TSB, cuirfear deireadh leis an srian ar thuarastail sna bainc sin leis. The restrictions were introduced over a decade ago when the misconduct of some senior bankers came to light. Tugadh na srianta isteach os cionn deich mbliana ó shin nuair a tháinig mí-iompar roinnt baincéirí sinsearacha chun solais. For some time, however, the banks have been petitioning the Government to relax - or cancel - the restrictions on the basis that they cannot afford to compete with other top financial institutions. Le tamall, áfach, tá na bainc ag achainí ar an Rialtas na srianta a mhaolú - nó a chealú - ar an mbonn nach bhfuil sé d'acmhainn acu dul in iomaíocht le forais airgeadais eile dá mbarr. The State gave €64 billion to the banks to rescue them when the housing market collapsed over ten years ago. Thug an Stát €64 billiún do na bainc lena dtarrtháil nuair a chlis an margadh tithíochta os cionn deich mbliana ó shin. The Government's policy is now to sell shares in financial institutions taken over by the State at that time. Is é polasaí an Rialtais anois sciartha i bhforais airgeadais a thóg an Stáit ar láimh an tráth úd a dhíol. The Financial Services Union welcomed the Government's decision today and said ordinary bank workers would benefit from the easing of restrictions. Chuir an ceardchumann Aontas Seirbhísí Airgeadais fáilte roimh chinneadh an Rialtais inniu agus dúirt go mbainfeadh gnáthoibrithe bainc sochar as na srianta a bheith maolaithe.

Tá sé aontaithe ag Banc Uladh portfóilió €4 bhilliún diasachtaí tráchtála a dhíol le banc an AIB mar chuid den phróiseas ach níl an socrú seo deimhnithe go foirmiúil go fóill. She argued that customers need not have any concerns and that the decision will not affect services for much longer. Permanent TSB today brings its Personal and SME customers Apple Pay, a safer, more secure and private way to pay that helps customers avoid handing their payment card to someone else, touching physical buttons or exchanging cash — and uses the power of iPhone to protect every transaction. Customers simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment. Every Apple Pay purchase is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code. Apple Pay is accepted in grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, and many more places. The feature is the latest extension to Permanent TSB’s digital banking offering and will be available to all Personal current account and credit card customers and to SME current account customers with business debit cards. Jeff Harbourne, Head of Personal Banking at Permanent TSB, said: “We are delighted to bring this great additional feature to our Personal and SME customers. It highlights our commitment to bringing customers what they want and making banking and payments easier for them. We continue to work quickly on bringing a broader range of innovative, customer-friendly features to our digital banking offering and will make further announcements shortly.” Customers can also use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to make faster and more convenient purchases in apps or on the web in Safari without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Apple Pay makes it easier to pay for food and grocery deliveries, online shopping, transportation, and parking, among other things. Apple Pay can also be used to make payments in apps on Apple Watch. Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. When customers use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store the payment information safely on the device. Apple Pay is easy to set up. On iPhone, simply open the Wallet app, tap +, and follow the steps or use the Permanent TSB app to add credit or debit cards. Once a customer adds a card to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, they can start using Apple Pay on that device right away. Customers will continue to receive all of the rewards and bene?ts offered by Permanent TSB’s cards. Customers with Permanent TSB’s flagship Explore Current Account will continue to earn 10c cashback every time they use Apple Pay to make contactless payments linked to their debit cards. This builds on the Explore account’s 10c cashback incentive for customers whenever they pay with their debit card (these cashbacks are subject to a maximum of €5 per account per month). Becoming CEO of a large, successful organisation is always a challenge, but taking on the role in the midst of a global pandemic is a very different proposition. However, successfully leading teams through adverse times is something in which Eamonn Crowley, the new CEO of Permanent TSB, has a lot of experience and expertise. His time as a trader during the Black Monday stock market crash was an early introduction to tough markets. Since then, Crowley has helped to navigate major organisations including AIB, AIG and Santander through recessions and economic booms alike. Now, he takes over at Permanent TSB at a time of great challenge but, characteristically, he can see clear opportunities for the bank for how it can further serve customers in the Irish market. In this episode of The EY CEO Outlook Podcast, Eamonn Crowley and host Richard Curran discuss a fascinating career in banking, the rapidly changing consumer landscape, and why trust lies at the heart of great leadership. After only months in the role, Permanent TSB's new CEO is already putting his new customer-first strategy into action, including personally speaking to at least four of the bank's customers every week. They also discuss:   ·        The Irish property market and the impact that COVID-19 has had on consumer behaviour·        The evolution of technology in the financial sector·        Lessons learned from the recent Tracker Mortgage controversy ·        Why a clear focus on the customer is key to recovery ·        His love of Liverpool FC, the leaders he admires the most, and the three pieces of advice he would give to other CEOs

Introduction: Donal Courtney has married an incredibly successful commercial /corporate as an Executive and now Independent NED career with an equally impressive career in Rugby refereeing.  Donal started his career as a Chartered Accountant, was practice Manager for Author Anderson, held various CFO/Executive board positions for companies like Airbus, Orix and GMAC Bank. He is an independent Non-Executive Director for Dell Bank, IPUT, Uni Credit and Permanent TSB. His is a former International Rugby referee and Head of European refereeing and he is now World Rugby disciplinary panel member.    Podcast episode summary: This particular episode shared Donal's insight working/leading and managing teams both on the pitch and off the pitch in corporate life. Donal peppered this conversation with numerous examples & lessons we can learn from the world of sport.  As many of my guests have shared & Donal agreed the demands on people at work are increasing, regulation has increased, governance is tougher, there is a greater focus on culture in a good way, pace & the speed of change is relentless. We are living in an increasingly digitised and networked society and this ask for new Leadership and a collective approach to solve some of our more wicked problems. Much can be learnt from the world of sport.    Noteworthy points of discussion Whether you are leading a 2-man team or a 10 -man team, Leadership is critical. Leaders need to think in terms of not just the resources available to the team but about the right skills, the right balance & mix of people making sure people feel safe to contribute and be part of a collective  Regular check-points and feedback is required -Seagull management is a misnomer  Continuous discussion and a process to surface issues, escalate concerns and have the conversations that matter. This means more agile ways of working. World is more complex, Brexit for example creating uncertainty, banking change and regulation has heightened, Culture and creating a culture that allows for Diversity and Inclusion is important -belonging matters  Everyone one is different, and people need to feel OK to bring themselves to work  Huge opportunity for innovation and learning but that requires a willingness to adapt & learn In sport players are encouraged to look at videos to see their play and their patterns we spoke about how this approach is akin to coaching effectively in organisations  Donal's approach at the Irish Rugby Union is coach like-he asks questions because he knows he is not close to the action the players are.  People have to move away from the idea of failure and embrace continuous learning and experimentation -a lot of it comes down how you communicate and the values you model Best team in Donal's opinion as an example of great team work is the All Blacks. He shares how the All Blacks stay on the pitch after a match to practice their routine. They have about 7-8 different Hakas that they need to perform. They demonstrate togetherness, organisation, shared or distributed leadership, clear purpose, co-ordination and an ethos of belonging to a bigger cause. It is all about the Jersey.  Joe Schmitt brought that ethos to the Irish Team-Joe is committed to practice, planning and clarity of play.  Donal loves the Adidas logo “Impossible is nothing” and he shared many examples of teams who came from obscurity to becoming winners by virtue of their belief & commitment, witness Japan versus South Africa in the last world cup, Leicester City a few years ago, The Europeans in 2012 at Medina in the US.  TEAM acronym to mean Togetherness, Empathy, Attitude and Management  His lesson from his transition from Executive to INED is to know your role and understand you are working on a team and not as a sole trader. Things will go wrong on teams but it is how you deal with the fallout that is important  Golf is often thought of as a very singular sport but Donal commented on the very important role the team plays in a professional golfers career. The relationship between caddy and player is vital.

Frank Vincent is an acclaimed actor, musician, comedian, author and producer. He was born in North Adams, Massachusetts of first generation Italian-Americans and raised in the Greenville section of Jersey City, New Jersey. Frank's father, an amateur actor, introduced him to show business at an early age. Frank acted in school plays and studied music at St. Paul's grammar school. He played piano, trumpet and drums, but his love for the drums soon took center stage. Frank spent his adolescence playing and traveling with various national championship drum and bugle corps. This passion evolved into playing in small combos at various nightclubs. He then met record producer Bill Ramal who became his musical mentor. In time, he became a successful recording drummer for such prominent names as Don Costa, Paul Anka, Del Shannon, Trini Lopez and the Belmonts. He found himself playing 5-6 nights a week and recording 3-4 days a week. His insatiable desire for performing soon came to the forefront and his drum playing became secondary. At this pace, he developed a stage personality and learned the meaning of comedic timing and discipline, which would soon lend itself to his acting career. In 1975, Frank made his feature film acting debut in Ralph DeVito's "Death Collector". Martin Scorsese saw his work and cast him in the 1980 Academy Award-nominated film of the decade, "Raging Bull"... From that point until the present day, Frank has appeared in numerous television shows, music videos and over fifty feature films. Frank has demonstrated the ultimate degree of versatility as an actor from his Raging Bull's arrogant "Salvi", to his Do The Right Thing's soaking wet "Charlie", Jungle Fevers racist "Mike Tucci", Casino's suave "Frankie Marino" and his "Go home and get your shine box" Goodfella "Billy Batts"... Frank has worked with some of the greatest directors of our time, notably Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, Spike Lee, John Sayles, Andrew Bergman and Sydney Lumet... He has acted with such greats as Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Richard Dreyfuss, Anthony Quinn, Sharon Stone, Adrien Brody and Sylvester Stallone, among others... His voice is featured in the multi-million dollar PlayStation game series Grand Theft Auto as "Don Salvatore Leone" as well as in DreamWorks' hit animated film "Shark Tale"... Frank is also the spokesperson for "Permanent TSB," one of the largest banks in Ireland... In addition, his career has taken him from recording with great musical legends to working on music videos with such names as Bruce Hornsby, Hype Williams, Nas, DMX, Method Man and T-Boz. Most recently, Frank starred as feared New York mob boss "Phil Leotardo" on HBO's epic series The Sopranos. Leotardo's simmering vendetta with "Tony Soprano" brought exhilarating excitement to millions of viewers week-after-week... Frank also penned a top-selling book entitled, "A Guy's Guide to Being A Man's Man," which was published by Penguin Putnam. GQ Magazine said, "It's awesome!"... Frank also recently starred as the lead in the upcoming movie, "Chicago Overcoat". Fans are sure to be pleased with Frank's riveting performance as an aging hit man who comes back for one last score. Over the years, Frank has received many awards for his various achievements on and off the screen. In 2002, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Back East Picture Show at the Hoboken Film Festival. That same year he received the Italian-American Entertainer of the Year Award presented by the Italian Tribune. In 2005, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Garden State Film Festival. In 2006, Frank received the Honorary Branford Fellow from Branford College, Yale University. That same year he received a Best Supporting Actor Award for the film "Remedy" at the International Film and Screenplay Festival. Frank was a cast member when The Sopranos received the Emmy Award in 2007. In 2008, Frank received the coveted SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for The Sopranos.
