This week on Spill the tea with Womenkind Collective we're diving deep into the conversations that matter and we wanted to talk about internalised misogyny and why so many women judge another woman, is this a deep patriarchal conditioning to keep women divided? She is the founder of UPFRONT, a ground-breaking organisation on a mission to transform confidence, visibility, and power for 10 million women. In 2017, Lauren was awarded an OBE for her services to design and diversity.Together we explore:1) What internalised misogyny really is- and how to recognise it2) How judgment of women by other women is driven by social conditioning and invisible 'rules'3) The role of media in reinforcing harmful gender stereotypes4) How to unlearn internalised bias and rewire confidence5) The personal moment Lauren realised she had internalised misogyny- and what changed after that6) The story behind make-up free moments, with celebrities like Pamela Anderson, and how they still provoke judgmentand more! Our Book Club gets under way and we discuss the first 2 chapters of our book for this series, How To Kill A Witch. “It's unacceptable to say to somebody in their 30s, when are you having children? Yet, on a daily basis, we've got people that are in their early 50s being asked, when are you going to retire?” Lyndsey Simpson is an entrepreneur and advocate blazing the trail for how workplaces can adapt to an ageing population. In this episode of Show Me The Way, we discuss population change, why ageism is so normalised and what hiring and retraining older workers can offer a business. Her organisation, 55/Redefined, advocates for age positivity and diversity across all areas of life, from age-inclusive hiring to challenging stereotypes in media and advertising.  Despite living longer and healthier lives than ever before, over-50s are feeling increasingly forced into retirement and corralled by ageist stereotypes. But by 2050, our working age population will shrink by 25%, while our over-60s population will grow by 40%. Lyndsey's aim is to add another decade of productive years to life, fighting for age-inclusive hiring, educating businesses on the benefits for age diversity and empowering people to live the life they want at any age. About Lyndsey: Lyndsey Simpson has been recognised by Management Today as one of the UK's 50 Most Inspirational Female Entrepreneurs and The Sunday Times' Top 35 Business Women. She has received a Young Gun and Global Women in Staffing Power 50 award and was shortlisted for the Veuve Cliquot Bold Women 2024 award. Navigating the Market: The Critical Role of Leasing Reporting in Property Management Today

commercialrealestatetraining's podcast

In the dynamic landscape of commercial and retail property management, staying abreast of market trends is not just beneficial—it's imperative. For landlords, having a clear understanding of the current market conditions, including vacancies and leasing activities, can be the difference between a thriving investment and a stagnant one. This is where the importance of comprehensive leasing reporting comes into sharp focus. Check out the parent article here for your printing and reference. https://commercial-realestate-training.com/landlord-reporting-tips-in-commercial-property-leasing/  Leasing reports are more than just documents filled with numbers and statistics; they are a narrative of the property's performance and market position. They provide insights into tenant demographics, rental rate trends, occupancy levels, and competitive analysis. This information empowers landlords to make informed decisions, whether it's adjusting leasing strategies, setting competitive rental rates, or planning property improvements to attract and retain tenants. Property managers play a pivotal role in this process. By dedicating time to regularly update their landlord clients with detailed leasing reports, they foster a proactive approach to property management. This ongoing communication ensures that landlords are not left in the dark about their property's status and can quickly adapt to changes in the market. Moreover, leasing reports serve as a tool for transparency and trust-building between property managers and landlords. They demonstrate a property manager's commitment to the landlord's success and provide a basis for strategic discussions about the property's future. In conclusion, leasing reporting is not just a task to be checked off a list; it is a vital service that property managers provide to their clients. It is the lens through which landlords can view the market and navigate their way to success. As the commercial and retail property sectors continue to evolve, the value of timely and thorough leasing reporting cannot be overstated. It is, without a doubt, a cornerstone of effective property management and a practice that should be embraced and prioritized for the benefit of landlords and their investments. A Small Voice: Conversations With Photographers

Brian Griffin was born in Birmingham in 1948 and grew up in the neighbouring Black Country, in the English midlands. He started his working life at 16 working in a factory, where he remained for 5 years, before finally making his escape to Manchester Polytechnic where he took a degree in photography, shortly after which he left for London in pursuit of a photographic career as a fashion photographer. It was there that he met and was mentored by Roland Schenk, the charismatic art director on Management Today magazine, who offered him a job as a corporate photographer. The rest, as they say, is history. Brian was later considered 'the photographer of the decade' by the Guardian Newspaper in 1989; 'the most unpredictable and influential British portrait photographer of the last decades' by the British Journal of Photography in 2005 and 'one of Britain's most influential photographers' by the World Photography Organisation in 2015. In 1991, his book Work was awarded the ‘Best Photography Book in the World' prize at Barcelona Primavera Fotografica. Brian is patron of the Format Photography Festival in Derby; in September 2013, he received the ‘Centenary Medal' from the Royal Photographic Society in recognition of a lifetime achievement in photography; and in 2014 he received an Honorary Doctorate from Birmingham City University. Brian Griffin's photographs are held in the permanent collections of many major art institutions and he has published twenty or so books, including his latest, Pop which features some of the highlights of his album artwork and band photography from decades working in the music industry with such artists as Iggy Pop, Elvis Costello, Depeche Mode and Kate Bush. In other words, he's a bit of a legend. The Human Experience: How To Make Life Better For Your Customers And Create A More Successful Organization by John Sills About the Book: The essential guide to creating a successful organization by making things easier, better, and more straightforward for your customers. Across all sectors, organizations' fixation with functionality has meant that the 'human' elements of the customer's experience have become neglected.  Strict processes and automated procedures have created organizations full of people who aren't allowed to act in a 'human' way. As a result, and despite these new technologies, customers are no more satisfied than they were a decade ago (according to the Institute of Customer Service) and, according to Edelman, they now trust big organizations even less than they did in the past. In The Human Experience, John Sills draws upon extensive research and illustrative case studies to explain that the emotional experience is just as important as the functional one, and, if done right, will create a more efficient business.  He also demonstrates that the customer experience is not just the responsibility of front-line employees, but shared across the company, from the CEO operating as the spokesperson of the business to the programmers developing a seamless and welcoming user interface. Whether you're a well-established incumbent or an early-stage start-up, on either end of your product or service is a human.  Packed full of practical advice and engaging case studies, The Human Experience is the ultimate guide to creating a culture and an experience with humanity at its heart, helping to develop a customer base that will stay with an organization, and a company that will grow in an increasingly efficient way. About the Author: After starting his career at a market stall in Essex, John Sills has spent the last twenty-five years working in and with companies around the world to make things better for customers.  He's advised organizations such as Sky, The Body Shop, Ovo Energy, Invesco, Morrisons, eBay, and UNICEF.  Now Managing Partner at customer-led growth company The Foundation, John also spent twelve years at HSBC, starting on the frontline and finishing as Head of Customer Innovation. John works closely with Young Enterprise, a charity that helps young adults become the next generation of entrepreneurs, and is a mentor for The School of Marketing. His writing has been featured in The Guardian, Management Today, and WARC, as well as having work exhibited at the Imperial War Museum, The Foundling Museum, and as part of the Bloomsbury Festival.  And, interesting fact – he was an award-winning model! Join Daniel, Aka Dapper Laughs, in this new Podcast, Menace II Sobriety, where he raises awareness around addiction and sobriety and talks about the links between drugs, alcohol, mental health and well-being whilst interviewing incredible guests. In this episode, Daniel is joined by celebrity hypnotherapist, author and ex-addict Elliot Wald. Elliot has over 26 years of experience in psychology and linguistics, this teamed with his own experience of addiction, gives him a unique opportunity to educate and help individuals and families suffering the consequences of addiction. He talks to Daniel about his own journey to sobriety, his knowledge of cocaine and addiction as well as how he has helped hundreds of people get sober. KEY TAKEAWAYS  Elliot focuses on cocaine addiction in a lot of his hypnotherapy. Recently he has found popularity in creating TikTok videos and this is where Daniel first heard of him. There are a set of characteristics specific to cocaine use, Elliot sets out to educate people to recognise these as early as possible, to help someone who may or already is suffering from addiction. If you recognise you have a problem with addiction, this may not be welcomed by those around you. Daniel likens it to holding a mirror up to those surrounding you and they don't want to see it or admit they may have a problem too. As an addict, it isn't possible to have just a small amount of the substance you have a problem with, no matter how much other people might try and convince you. People who offer drink or drugs to you when they know you have a problem aren't giving you the support you need to combat your addiction. It's absolutely possible to channel an addictive personality into positive pursuits, such as fitness. Secondary addiction is common, particularly around sex. In most things in life, there is a certain amount of pain to endure before pleasure. With cocaine, this is switched around which is one of the reasons it's so hard to break the habit. Elliot believes there are four steps to the addiction to cocaine: 1. The anticipation of taking cocaine 2. The using of cocaine 3. Believing it will be different next time 4. The stress, anxiety and regret of using Lies are a big part of any addiction. You lie to the people around you, to yourself, about your addiction, how much you use, how often, the list is endless. Different people can have different substance addictions. You may have issues with cocaine but not alcohol, however, some people can become addicted to almost anything. To help someone, Elliot first has to understand them completely, he can then help them rewire their brain to go sober.   BEST MOMENTS  “I was a genuine lads lad sesh-head back in the day” “It goes from the most social drug to the most unsociable drug” “Sometimes when you recognise you have a problem or an issue it's like holding a mirror up to the people around you” “I'm an all or nothing mentality” “What things have you done that you would never ever do if you weren't on the packet?" “When you use, you lie” “I don't judge people, I'm not there to judge you, I'm there to help you” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.cocaineanonymous.org.uk CONTACT METHOD Instagram Facebook Twitter   ABOUT THE GUEST Elliot Wald Elliott Wald is a Master Trainer in many therapies and over the last 27 years has become recognised as a leading expert in the field of Hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programming NLP and Modern Psychology. Elliott is a truly exceptional and effective Hypnotherapist, with an impressive track record of clients who have found his unique abilities ‘life changing', including celebrities from the movies, television, sporting and media industries, as well as thousands of members of the general public who have experienced his extraordinary results, through his 1-1 work or at his seminars delivered around the world. Elliott is a regular face on our TV screens, having numerous appearances as the Hypnosis Expert of ITV's This Morning Show and ‘Lorraine Kelly's Next Big Fat Challenge' demonstrating his outstanding Hypnosis skills. His success continues to be featured on Television, in Newspapers, Magazines and Radio. Publishers power through as hype around emerging tech comes crashing down: Media Moments 2022

Media Voices Podcast

For our latest season of the Media Voices Podcast, kindly sponsored by Poool, we'll be publishing ten episodes exploring the biggest trends of 2022 and how they affect publishers; from podcasts and newsletters to advertising, subscriptions, trust and more. Our ninth episode looks at how the bubble has burst around many of the emerging technologies that had previously excited the industry, and where publishers are looking now for innovation. The 'crypto winter' has set back many of the projects we saw begin in last year's exploration of emerging technology. The crash began early in 2022 due to rising interest rates and macroeconomic factors, and as even supposedly 'stable' cryptocurrencies hit problems, confidence in the market plummeted. This in turn hit the NFT market, with trading volumes collapsing 97% in September from a peak in January 2022.  Although many publishers aren't forthcoming with less positive updates about NFT and Web3 projects, the closure of CNN's Vault by CNN - a marketplace selling collectible NFT 'moments' tied to major news events - is likely a good indicator of how others are faring. Crucially, this has raised issues of trust with audiences who believed NFT projects from publishers to be a safer bet than those touted by so-called 'crypto bros'. Facebook's all-in bet on the metaverse certainly put AR and VR experiences at the top of the agenda for brands this year. Publishers have rightly been much more cautious, waiting to see a solid commercial proposition before jumping in. But some have taken the opportunity to experiment early, from Vogue's Business and Yahoo Metaverse Experience to B2B magazines like Management Today. However, user numbers for even the most well-known metaverse platforms are still far below what is needed to justify longer-term plans. It's not all doom and gloom for emerging technology though. AI imagery and video has taken great leaps forward this year, with projects like Dall-E showing early promise to transform visual content creation. This tech may not be as sexy as the metaverse and Web3, but is more likely to make a tangible difference to how publishers work in the next few years. Our guest expert this week is Simon Owens. Simon is a media industry journalist who edits an industry newsletter that covers everything from the Creator Economy to traditional media. He also hosts The Business of Content, a podcast about how publishers create, distribute, and monetise digital content. This topic will be one of the chapters we explore in detail as part of our Media Moments 2022 report, launching on November 30th. Find out more and pre-register here to receive the report. This season of Media Voices is sponsored by Poool, the Membership and Subscription Suite used by over 120 publishers from around the world. “If someone doesn't do as you expected, all you know for sure is that he or she didn't do as you expected.” Ann Latham explains the disconnect between what you expected and what happened in a chapter-by-chapter breakdown of her book The Disconnect Principle. ~  WE'LL DISCUSS ~ What it means when people do not live up to our expectations How shifting our focus to fixing the situation instead of the person leads to a better dialogue How our thoughts about someone communicate louder in our body language and facial expressions than in our words How to do something with someone rather than to them   About Ann Latham: Ann Latham is the founder of Boston area consulting firm Uncommon Clarity®, Inc. Her clients represent over 40 industries and range from for-profit organizations, such as Boeing, Medtronic, and Hitachi, to nonprofit organizations as diverse as Public Television, United Way, and colleges and universities. How can advisors make the most of these trends and make a significant impact on their clients? This week, we flip the script as Jack Sharry takes the guest chair and Matt Nollman, VP of Marketing at LifeYield, hosts the show. As Executive Vice President, Chief Growth Officer, and Principal at LifeYield, Jack helps industry leaders, platform builders, advisors, and investors understand UMH platforms and the advantages they create. As a leading industry voice on wealthtech, Jack shares his insights on the top five trends in wealth management, how these trends are impacting the industry, and how the combination of platform and advisor makes the biggest difference in client relationships. Key Takeaways [01:20] - The key role Jack Sharry plays at LifeYield. [02:33] - What Jack sees as the top five trends in wealth management. [06:23] - The impact of retiring baby boomers on wealth management. [07:33] - How advisors can effectively manage the influx of money from next-generation investors. [09:39] - The impact of technology convergence on wealth management. [11:48] - Why the combination of platform and advisor makes the biggest impact on clients. [15:52] - How advisors with the best soft skills have a competitive advantage in managing wealth. [19:39] - Jack's three key takeaways. [21:07] - What Jack enjoys outside of work. Quotes [05:41] - "At the end of the day, an advisor and a client need to talk. Algorithms aren't human beings. They just tell you how to optimize what's going on. You've got to ask them questions and you have to have a real dialogue often with clients that don't fully understand what it is they're trying to solve." - Jack Sharry [20:02] - "More people are retiring today with more money and more complexity than at any point in history. So, a tidal wave of assets and complexity are driving our business for the foreseeable future." - Jack Sharry [20:13] - "Digital and human advice are coming together on comprehensive advice platforms. And the job of the underlying algorithms is to identify the next best actions. Strategy is a start, but the ultimate job of these platforms is to coordinate implementation across the household and to determine the next best thing to do to improve financial outcomes." - Jack Sharry Links  Jack Sharry on LinkedIn Matt Nollman John Connors John Thiel Tiburon Strategic Advisors Morgan Stanley JP Morgan Orion Advisor Solutions Edward Jones Wells Fargo UBS  Merrill Lynch Envestnet  Goldman Sachs LPL Financial E*Trade  Eaton Vance James Gorman Connect with our hosts LifeYield Jack Sharry on LinkedIn Jack Sharry on Twitter Subscribe and stay in touch Apple Podcasts Spotify LinkedIn Twitter Facebook
