Three Tips for HACKING UNCERTAINTY in Turbulent Times: Find the right people who understand the "controllables." Find people who are trailblazers Find people who help others:  Chris Krimitsos is someone who kicks butt even in Turbulent Times: He has an amazing capacity for change which is one of three great truths that Price Pritchett shares in his book Quantum Leap Strategies.  Chris exudes the true Renaissance man in that he leads others to successful paths, leadership and other life skills simply by extending a helping hand.  He is well known for his amazing explosion into the Podcasting world creating PODFEST (TM) EXPO the annual Orlando, FL, conference.  Furthermore, he has now taken it internationally to Asia in 2024 and beyond. https://podfestexpo.com I have been a speaker and a volunteer for Podfest beginning virtually in 2020 continuing to 2025.  Conferences can be overwhelming.  Yet I feel Chris has surrounded himself with talented people who carry his visions for an awe-inspiring event for creators, exhibitors and attendees.   This year, Chris asked the PODFEST EXPO attendees to design the conference's T-shirts.  ( I told him that I wanted to create one with stick figures.) He responded: " DO IT" And that's the kind of person he is.. ( I didnt do it..but maybe next year.)    Chris exemplifies Price Pritchett's other concept of YOU2 (You squared) in that he chooses to take the road less travelled.  He is not afraid of failure, or missteps when taking the path of uncertainty.    His belief in the concept that one's desires are actually easier to achieve with different thinking rather than trying harder and getting the same old results.   The ABILITY TO HACK UNCERTAINTY leads to that road where dreams become reality. This choice of “ it can be easy” is due to his ability to be relentless in pursuit of a dream. Chris is someone who is always open to and takes Quantum Leaps.  Price Pritchett teaches us that a quantum leap is a move that is ours for the taking. Right now. It's a giant step you can make merely by deciding to do it,  which opens you up to resources.  Taking PODFEST to ASIA was absolutely a QUANTUM LEAP. REMEMBER… we all need a sense of direction, to be focused on our end result.  Chris Krimitsos is very much blazing that trail. His success is being in the present. Oh and there is his PODTOUR around the United States and Canada..   to be continued next podcast...   Meditations for Turbulent Times Jin Shin Jyutsu Jin Shin Jyutsu® is a gentle and nurturing healing art that helps restore balance and harmony by using light touch on specific energy points along the body. Meet Angie Morgan Witkowski, a bestselling author, seasoned business coach, and multi-time entrepreneur with an impressive journey spanning from a small rural community in northern Michigan to the Marine Corps and into the heart of the entrepreneurial scene. Her experiences in the Marines and later with Pfizer in Beverly Hills inspired her to co-found Lead Star, a successful coaching and consulting business, and pen her game-changing book, "Bet On You," a manifesto for embracing calculated risks. Angie's new venture into podcasting continues to share her insightful lessons and inspiration. Her discussions revolve around the importance of immediate action, despite current circumstances, and the benefits of testing potential paths before committing fully to them. Chris Kermitsos's "Start Ugly" concept complements this ethos, advocating for proactive steps towards goals without waiting for a "perfect moment." Angie encourages people to face their fears and focus on the potential positives rather than the negatives. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is highlighted as a powerful tool for mitigating irrational fears. Above all, Angie stresses the importance of enjoying the journey, aligning personal pursuits with passions, and taking a balanced approach to life. Her discussions underscore the idea that, when viewed from a wider perspective, taking a calculated risk may indeed be the safest choice one could make.   The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “I would love people to think about the dreams that they have for themselves, these grand visions, and the times that you look outside of yourself and see all the cool things that other people are doing, and just really ask yourself, why not you? Why can't you do that? If other people are doing it and they're showing you it can be done, why not you? It's not that they have privilege, it's not that they have access to more capital, maybe they do, but that's not the reason that's holding you back. Your fears, your worries, your concerns, your self-doubts, those are probably bigger barriers than any other barrier out there. So just really ask yourself: Why not you?”   --   Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. Pursuing Excellence Create Art Podcast Style In the pursuit of excellence, I am pushing myself to higher and more transparent levels. My wife gave me a box of cards for the holidays in 2022. Well, folks, I was wrong and I will be attempting to do a card a week and record an episode each week about how I am utilizing the card I draw every week. If you decide to pick up a deck and do these let me know. Excellent Links Mentioned In The Show Podfest Indie Pod Con Super Joe Pardo Show Kickstart Creativity What is Arête or The Pursuit of Excellence? From Wikipedia In its earliest appearance in Greek, this general notion of excellence was ultimately bound up with the notion of the fulfillment of purpose or function: the act of living up to one's full potential. A person of arete is of the highest effectiveness; they use all of their faculties—strength, bravery, and wit—to achieve real results. In the Homeric world, arete involves all of the abilities and potentialities available to humans. Though particularly associated with 'manly' qualities,[1] the Homeric usage of the term was not necessarily gender specific, as Homer applied the term to both the Greek and Trojan heroes as well as major female figures, such as Penelope, the wife of the Greek hero Odysseus. In the Homeric poems, arete is frequently associated with bravery, but more often with effectiveness. This is Timothy Kim O'Brien, your head instigator for Create Art Podcast, where I take my over 20 years in arts and education and help you. Tame your inner critic and create more than you consume. So at the time of this recording, it's 2023 and I gotta say my wife got me a great Christmas gift last year in 2022. [00:00:48] She got me this deck of cards and it's not a normal deck of cards. It's called Kickstart Creativity. 50 prompted cards to Spark Inspiration, and it's by Bonnie Smith White House. And I'm sure we'll have links to this where you can get it in the show notes. So with Kickstart Creativity cards, there are the action cards. [00:01:17] Which offers an opportunity to experiment or play with a surprising joy-inducing method? Sure. To stretch your creative muscles, each card suggests and briefly describes a specific action. There are also perspective cards, which are green, and they reveal a fresh mindset, a different lens, or an illuminating way of viewing one's work of the work you have before you. [00:01:45] Creative spirits, past and present will often be invoked on perspective, pers perspective cards. And then intention cards invoke a deeper service value, significance, or meaning to which you and your work can aspire. . Now you can, you know, draw one card at a time and if you do that, just, you know, draw any card as a daily or a weekly practice or, you know, draw one when you need a quick hit of inspiration. [00:02:24] You could draw two cards. Draw paired juxtapositions. . And how they do it is, you know, like a red and blue card or a blue and green card or however. And that I actually know you have to draw an action card in one intention card and it could help you or your collaborators imagine how a project could aspire to serve your community or world on a deeper level. [00:02:52] Or you can draw three cards. And you divide the deck into action, perspective, and intention. You draw one from each pile and you construct a narrative action, perspective, and intention for the work you are doing or for the path ahead. . So what am I gonna do with this? Well, I'm gonna try to do it once a week and I'm going to, I'm gonna read off the card to you, see what it's all about, and then I'll do my commentary on it and let you know what I think about it. [00:03:26] So here is today's card. All right, so today's card is an intention card. So it's a blue card, and the word for today is, and I'm probably gonna mispronounce it, but it's a harita a r e with a little thing up top, t e. And that is, it's an ancient Greek ideal of pursuing excellence. And what the cart says is when a person or a thing embodies its full potential, that is arte, but excellence. [00:04:06] Should not be confused with perfection. Excellence is the commitment to strive to be diligent and undeterred. Furthermore, we are called not only to recognize the potential for excellence in thems in ourselves but to look for this potential in others as well. Now, there are three things with this. The first thing is to construct a list of people who seem to. [00:04:36] Striving towards excellence. Make a note of why each person inspires you. [00:04:46] So that's what I want to do here. First is a list of people that inspire me and why each of them inspires me. So with this whole pursuit of excellence, the first one that comes to mind is actually Chris Chris demos of the pod fest conference down in Orlando, Florida. And why am I picking him? [00:05:15] Well, here's the thing. He has a certain way about it. And well, long story short is, well, it's gonna be a long story [00:05:32] this certain way about him. I met him, and gosh, it was like 2017. Yes, it was 2017 at DC Pod Fest, and I had just two weeks prior, previously getting neck surgery. And my throat was just torn up from the floor up and my voice was horrible. And he was doing a. he was promoting his conference at the conference, but I, I walked up to him and I talked to him as best I could and, you know, kind of told him, you know, Hey, I'm a newbie kind of podcaster and I'm a new person and you know, da da da, da da. [00:06:16] And he, he sat there and he talked with me as best as I could talk. And then the next time I saw him was at At Map Con that next year in 2018 September, I believe, 2018. And he remembered me and he remembered, you know, I talked to him about my kids and what I was doing and asked about my neck and then he when the pandemic hit, he took his conference online. [00:06:47] He wasn't the first one to do that. Joe Paro was, and I'll talk about him in a second, but he was, you know one of the biggies that, hi, his conference was the last one, the last big one before the pandemic hit. And he took it. And he's got this whole team behind him. Now, I've never been to Pod Fest, pod fest in person at the time of this recording, and I'm recording it in January of 20 23. [00:07:20] So he, he took it online, and from what I understand, the feeling from the in-person was the feeling that he got online and his warmth and personality really came out. And, you know, he would message me you know, kind of in the background and go, Hey, how are you doing? And, and I'm sitting there going, there's. [00:07:45] Literally 5,000 people here, and you remember me there, 5,300, however many it was. And yeah you know, he, he remembered me and I was blown away by that. So I had gone to a, a few of his online things online conferences and you know, I hope by the time that that. that you hear this it'll be, you know, wow. [00:08:10] Probably's not gonna be till 2024. When I will go to his conference, I'm working towards that goal. But one of the things he did was you know, do a book called Start Ugly. And now I'd already been podcasting. For a long time before that book came out, but I got the book, I bought the book and it really, I wanna say I got really interested in podcasting about 20 16, 20 17. [00:08:45] I got really serious about it and then when I read that book, I got really serious about podcasting on a bigger. And so I started ugly with one company and I moved to another company and started ugly there too. And you know, it, it worked and it led to some really great things. So, you know, I, I try to, I am myself. [00:09:17] I am who I am. Sometimes I'm a mean angry bear. Sometimes I am an extrovert that just hates people. But I try to embody his warmth, his personality, and his presence to be there in the moment. And if that moment's a year later, he's back in that same moment with you. So that's something that I find is striving for excellence and I want to do more of that. [00:09:48] The other person I'm gonna talk about is Joe Paro otherwise known as Super Joe Paro. and similar story to him. He's, he runs podcast conferences,s and uh, he's got a couple of podcasts of his own. And he, you know, heard about this podcasting thing and, you know, on a flight he drew up his logo. He's, you know, he came up with a name for the podcast and, and he ran. [00:10:12] And he's done, you know, pretty well for himself. He's, he's, a big name in the industry of podcasting. So on this side of the mic, you know, a lot of people know him on the other side of the mic, you know, on, on your side. You may not know him, but he had that same determination that, you know people can say, oh, this is a fad. [00:10:34] It's going nowhere. Or, you have no business being here. You don't have the experience to be. He doesn't care. He just goes for it. He's an entrepreneur. And I, I love that entrepreneurial spirit of, Hey, we're just gonna go for it and we're gonna see you know, we're gonna believe in it, we're gonna make it happen. [00:10:52] And now has everything both of these guys have done been perfect? No, you know Chris starts ugly. Joe just sees the super in everybody. So these are two folks that, you know, I look at and I see 'em striving towards excellence and I take notes of each person. The next part of this card says to look around your immediate surroundings and pay homage to an object in your life that embodies excellence. [00:11:30] And so what? I'm honoring the object in my life that embodies excellence, this whole podcasting thing. It challenges me and when I first started in 2006, it really challenged me. And I, I wasn't serious about it. I was just thinking, oh, well people will find it and love it and you know, they'll be as weird as I am and we'll all go on a merry way. [00:12:00] And that didn't happen because I didn't put the work into it. As I said earlier, about 20 16, 20 17, I got serious about podcasting and I learned more about it and., and I thought, you know, let me put some work into this. Let me really put, you know, some thought behind it. And then towards the end of 2019, I really wanted to push podcasting into where I worked and it just didn't work out with that job. [00:12:32] So the next job that I got, one of the reasons they hired me is cuz I know how to podcast. and it took some time for people to, you know, change their minds and everything. And they really did. They changed their mind. And now the company that I'm with, we're doing a lot of podcasting. and almost too much. [00:12:56] And hopefully I get to change job titles there and be the full-time co-podcaster producer voiceover actor. What ha whatever they have me do, I don't care. I'll sweep out the stuff. I don't care. But that's what I'm paying homage to is that I've been an artist for a long. , but I've really put in a lot of hours and a lot of work, and a lot of heart, and a lot of sweat, and a lot of tears, and a little bit of blood, and who knows how much money. [00:13:30] We're not even gonna think about that. , but this is something that I've really worked hard towards. Now, my, my, my graduate degree, did I work hard towards that? Oh, don't, yes, yes, I did. I worked my fingers to the bone. I walked uphill to school both ways. Barefoot in the snow, being chased by wolves over nails. [00:13:55] I don't know. I worked hard for that. But I also have been working very hard on podcasts. and it's worked out pretty well. I'm in your ear right now, so that works for me. [00:14:13] Then the last part of the card says Is also related to valor. . And before I get to that it's a Greek word. If I'm terribly mispronouncing it, shoot me an email, Timothy create Arc podcast, and let me know that I'm saying it wrong and correct me, please. I appreciate that. But it's this word is also related to valor. [00:14:40] What Brave move could you make right now that would put you on a path toward the most excellent version of yourself? [00:14:54] So I have pretty much already done that brave move, and that is really pushing it at my day job to turn my day job. Into being a podcaster, being a full-time podcaster, and telling the stories of the people that I work with to the, our entire, you know, workforce and to the external workforce that doesn't know everything that we do for the place that I work for. [00:15:31] So that took a lot of guts and there's risks risk to it. If it doesn't work out, then what am I gonna do? It, it's not as much risk as entre entrepreneurs like geo Parto or Chris . I mean, if, if they fall flat on their face, oh, it hurts. For me, the job that I. Yeah, if the podcasting doesn't, you know doesn't go through and doesn't take off I'm okay because I've pretty much got a guaranteed job where I'm at pretty much guaranteed, not a hundred percent. [00:16:08] I really gotta mess up to not have it work out, but my company is known for moving very slow, so I think I'll, I'll be fine. , but there are some risks to it, you know? I would have to go back into w you know,, my current job title right now and, you know, would I want to go back into that? You know, would I go to other branches of this company that I work for and, and, risk it there and start? [00:16:40] You know, for however long, you know, I need to start over so there is some risk to it and my bold move is pushing in all my chips and going, let's do it. So, you know, I need to impress them fairly quickly with what I can do and what my skills are. I'm going to have to show them all the work that I've put in since 2006. [00:17:08] And especially since, you know, 20 16, 20 17, and especially since 2019, I've put in a lot of work for this. So I'm crossing my fingers and I hope it's gonna happen. I'm gonna do everything that I can do to make it happen. [00:17:31] So I definitely want to thank you for listening to my commentary on this, and I hope you pick up this deck of cards from Bonnie Smith White House. It's called Kickstart Creativity. Let me know what you think about these. Everything will be in the show notes, so you'll be able to see everything there. [00:17:53] So I'm hoping you're out there striving for excellence just like I am. [00:18:01] While that was today's card, I appreciate you, you know, taking a listen to this podcast and I really appreciate the time that you put into it. And I hope you appreciate the time that I put into it. I do wanna ask you a slight favor. If you got any benefit out of this, I'd ask you to go ahead and share it with a friend. [00:18:24] You know, whatever app you're using. If you're on my website, you know, go ahead and give 'em the website. If you are, you know, using an app, you know, share it through your app. There are lots of different ways, lots of different apps out there, so I'm not gonna go through them. . But yeah, go ahead and share it with a friend. [00:18:42] I don't mind. Don't mind at all. The other thing I'd like to ask of you is that if you have something going on in your neck of the woods or if you have, you know, a piece of art that you're working on that I can help you out with, or if you want to get your work out there to other people, I'd be happy to interview you on this. [00:19:08] You can email me, timothy create art podcast.com and I'd be happy to get back with you and talk about it and see what we can do about that. The last thing I'm gonna ask of you, and I know I'm asking a ton and I apologize for that, but could you go ahead and email me and let me know what would make this a five-star podcast? [00:19:36] In your eyes, I'd like to know about that. You can, you know, a lot of the apps out there, you can comment right there on the app and, and, and leave your review or all that. And by all means, go ahead and do that. Even if it's not a five-star, if it's a four-star, if it's a one-star, go ahead and do that. [00:19:56] But what I would ask you to do, please, Is to go ahead and email me. Same email address timothy create art podcast.com and let me know what's gonna make this a five-star podcast for you. Now, I'm going to release you to the rest of your day. I hope this was enjoyable for you. I know it was enjoyable for me. [00:20:20] So go out there, tame that inner critic. Create more than you consume. And go out there and make some art for somebody you love yourself. I'll talk to you next time.

JP Finlay, Mitch Tischler and Pete Hailey are pumped to be chatting about another victory, even if that victory was far from perfect. During their time together, the guys discuss Taylor Heinicke's afternoon, Terry McLaurin's contributions, the difference between Washington and Green Bay on third down, Bryce Harper (?) and much more. They also try to figure out just how inspiring the victory was and lament how long the first half took (which leads to a classic JP vs. math moment). From there, you'll hear JP's one-on-ones with Heinicke and McLaurin, where the former explains how meaningful Week 7 was to him and the latter shares the trash talk he was giving to Green Bay. If you like podcasts where Pete's censorship of the show is really put to the test and JP out-of-nowhere attacks those dudes who dress up at Patriots games, then this is the episode for you. Reflecting on 2021

Today, is a new year and I wanted to reflect on 2021.  I don't know about you, but I keep a diary of things I accomplish each month to ensure I align with my goals.   What were my goals?  I set goals each year related to business, personal and spiritual.  Well, let's see how each month turned out. January – My first short term rental Iron Horse Acres, was setup and running and I was working on getting my 2nd short term rental setup. February – Went to the Daytona 500 with my girlfriend Brenda Veldman and reconnected with Kurt Kalbach– whom I hadn't seen in over 35 years.   I also attended the women's Beautiful Conference at Grace Family Church in Lutz. March – I was working hard on getting Iron Horse Acres Too setup.  Getting a house setup for Short Term Rental takes a minute.  Making sure the house is stocked with everything, like you lived there.  I used Andrea Bryant from Staged Right, LLC to assist in decorating my house.  I can't draw stick people let alone decorate a house.   Setting the App platforms are a bit of work too.  After the house was completely decorated, then I hired FireLight to come and take the professional pictures.  Cell phone pictures don't cut it, you must have professional pictures done.  I decided on 2 platforms.  I did one first, tweaked it the way that I wanted and used it on Iron Horse Acres first.  Then once it was tested by my guests, then I setup the 2nd platform. Now I had 2 platforms and 2 houses.  At one-point last year, I had double booked some guests – SO, then it came time, and I implemented a new software which at the time was called SmartBnb, which is now Hospitable.  Hospitable integrates multiple platforms so your calendars are now in sync, so you won't make mistakes like double bookings.  Hospitable is also great for canned messages.  This saves me a lot of time communicating with my guests.  They now get timed messages prior to arrival, during their stay and at departure. It ensures I don't forget to send my guests a message.  April – I had made the decision to go home and see my mom for the summer.  I had planned on going home in 2020 in my RV, but that nasty virus shut me down.  This year, I was going to make it happen!  I planned to leave in June.  I made a short trip home in April to see my mom and to see Kurt.  I also made the decision well; I was highly encouraged by my real estate mentor Tyler Sheff that I should begin podcasting.  He felt that I had a voice, and I was a great storyteller.  Although I could agree on the story telling part, I wasn't quite sure what my focus was.  He told me to just “Start Ugly” and encouraged me to read Chris Krimitsos book called Start Ugly.  After reading his book, it totally aligned with who I am and so came up with the Fearless Innovator because I felt that described who I was and then I began talking to myself behind a camera and microphone, much like I'm doing right now.  My focus was centered around my book that had been launched in October of 2020, entitled Why My J.O.B. Quit Me, jump-start your Firing.  I wanted to inspire people with my stories of the lessons I learned growing up on the farm and how I took those lessons and applied them to my corporate job in IT and how it ultimately led me to become a real estate investor. May – Iron Horse Acres Too launched and now I had 2 short term rentals!  My Fearless Innovator Podcast launched on Apple Podcast and Spotify!  I was now earning cashflow on 2 properties and was free to travel for 3 months while earning cashflow! June – I left Florida with 13 of my Latino friends, we called ourselves the Insane Wanderers and we trailered our bikes to Laconia NH Bikefest where we met up with Kurt.  Kurt had ridden his bike from Iowa to NH to join us for bike fest.  This was my first time to the northeast on my bike.  We traveled through 12 states and road at least 2000 miles in a week.  The Kancamagus Highway even though we road it in the rain, had amazing scenery!  After one week of riding, Kurt traveled back to Florida with me and within one week we did a turn and burn, loaded up the RV/Toy hauler with our bikes and 2 cats and we headed home to Iowa for 3 months.   Once we arrived in Iowa, we unloaded the bikes, and the toy hauler was now converted into my office so I could continue with my real estate business.  First agenda item, Go see my mom!!! I saw my mom every week, sometimes twice a week!  Unfortunately, she's in a nursing home now, but I made my mom a priority for 3 months. Great news is she's doing great, and we laughed a lot! Second agenda item! I Fired MY CPA! There comes a time when in business you just don't see eye to eye and it's time to make a change.  That change was made and now I have a CPA that aligns with my real estate business.  July - I joined two Real Estate Investing Groups while in Iowa.   FIRE – Financial Independence Retire Early Local Meetup hosted by Ryan Renze and the DSM Real Estate Investing Meetup – Hosted by Mitch Coluzzi.  My goal was to learn more about the DSM area Real Estate Market and learn I did!  The best thing I can tell you about real estate is that no matter where you go, if you just get involved and put yourself out there, you can go anywhere you want and learn what you want in real estate.  I met the most down to Earth, knowledgeable people in Iowa.  It would have been extremely easy to put a team together there and do business.  As it was, I met this dynamic duo young couple Tyler and Allyson.  They were both working J.O.B's but they had already begun their journey in real estate and I'm confident if they stay focused, they will be out of the rat race before they hit 30!  Super excited for them! I flew back to Florida for quick trip to go look at an RV Park in Perry, FL that was for sale.   It was 8 acres with the potential of 20 more acres. He had 10 sites setup but not operational.  I met with the owner but after a short time, I wasn't able to come to terms.  He eventually sold for his asking price, but I just learned the other day, that the guy who bought has lost his shorts.  Note to self – this one may be worth looking at in the near future! For fun in July – We went to a Goodguys Car show with Kurt's 79 Trans Am, visited 7 Freedom Rocks with my cousin Stevie, Went to Prairie Meadows Horse track, went to my first dirt track ARCA race and an Iowa Cubs game, First Kopaska Family Reunion. Checkout Fearless Innovator - Episode 27 – You Only Die Once to get a better understanding of everything that happened this summer.  Let's just say, there's no grass growing under my feet! August – I had the pleasure of speaking at the FIRE Meeting.  After attending the meeting, I learned it was a relatively young audience, so I chose to inspire them with my story about Financial Independence that I shared with you in Episode 24 – Financial Independence. My sister Melissa came to visit us from AR, Lantern Festival, Visited Templeton Rye Distillery, Iowa State Fair, kayaking with Kurts's sister Julia and her husband, won a partition lawsuit (that story is for another podcast). September was a big month!  I got engaged to Kurt! Rode my bike to the Field of Dreams, saw the Antique Archelogy or the Iowa Pickers as you may know them and drove my 1st Nascar! October – It was time to head back to Florida but not after visiting 65 of the 99 Iowa Freedom Rocks, mostly on our motorcycles.  We put over 3000 miles on our bikes this summer looking at Freedom Rocks.  Kurt moved to Florida!  Now, instead of Kurt attending church online, he now joins me weekly for the in-person services! November – Well everything slows down over the holidays, but we focused on enhancing Iron Horse Acres for the impending busy season.  The house got new paint, Kurt built a large wood fire pit in the back yard, fences were pressure sprayed and trees were trimmed, enhanced the pool with a heater all just in time for our short-term rental guests.   You may be thinking, where are you living right?  Great question! We are still in the RV and living in the barn!  This just isn't your regular barn, ours has a nice extended living room area, my office and a patio out back.   We are capitalizing and being capital pigs and loving life and meeting awesome people that come from up north to escape the cold! I attended my first PodFest Origins in Tampa! December – After attending PodFest Origins, I learned I have A LOT to learn in the Podcasting space, so I hired Bruce Wawrzyniak as my Podcast mentor.  He has helped me make significant changes to my podcast show.  I now have a new tagline and a new focus!  I'm focused on sharing my journey on how I went From Cubicles to Cashflow.  Checkout my new thumbnail! We enjoyed the Christmas season with my sister Melissa.  I have been focused on my real estate adventure and clearly, it's an adventure, but more like learning every day something new in real estate! I'm excited to share with you in my next episode what my goals are for 2022.  I do not do resolutions, only goals!  It's very ironic that last week's episode we talked about the power of the pivot, well due to overwhelming and compelling feedback I've received from my community, it's time to pivot, so pardon my mess. Several of my listeners have given me very candid feedback about my podcast. The main point I've been hearing, is that you don't know who I am or what I'm doing. Well, quite frankly, I don't. As every growing podcaster before me, they too have pivoted, it's just my turn! When I first started my Podcast, I was encouraged to just jump in, and do it because my peers felt I was a good storyteller. I was also encouraged to read Chris Krimitsos' book called Start Ugly. Basically, the book explains to just start Ugly no matter how ugly it is! Chris is the originator of PodFest. PodFest is a conference where all styles and flavors of Podcasters go to share knowledge and experience. I'll leave his link here in my show notes.  This year I was fortunate enough to attend my first PodFest that was hosted here in Tampa. All I can say, is WOW! There's a lot to learn and I walked away blown away by the content, the connections, the knowledge, and the opportunities within the Podcasting family. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. After attending I knew I had to make a change, but I wasn't quite sure what to do. Then I discovered that I could attend a local Podcasting meeting, so being the shy person that I am – I went. I didn't know a soul and found myself surrounded with well-seasoned Podcasters. I didn't care. When it came time to share my story, I put it out there. It went something like this, look, I'm 28 episodes in and I don't know who I am, I don't have a focus and doubt is setting in and I'm not sure I'm fit to be a podcaster. Here's the good news, I have everything I need already setup. I've written a book, I have a website, I have a podcast – I just don't know how to connect them all.  Clearly, I didn't feel the love, but I enjoyed sharing my story of how I went from the farm to corporate and how I quit my JOB to be an entrepreneur.  My turn was over, and it was on to the next person. I felt a little disappointed and then I engaged with others to hear about their journeys. After the meeting, it was networking time! I met amazing people doing amazing things and I loved hearing others success stories. I was getting ready to leave when I was approached by one of the speakers from PodFest. I learned the most from Bruce's presentation. I learned top 20 ways to promote your podcast for free! His advice instantly gave me new energy and new focus and now he's standing in front of me. I thought to myself, why on Earth would he want to be talking to me. I listened intently and with his soft-spoken voice, he said he really liked my story, and he was encouraging me to stick with it.  We talked a bit more and then he told me that he does coaching on the side. Mind you, Bruce Wawrzyniak already hosts 2 Podcasts – Now Hear This with over 400 episodes and Catholic Sports Radio over 150 episodes. I'll leave the links to his shows in my show notes.  He told me that he'd be willing to coach me, and I asked, why me? He said, because I believe that you are a doer and there are several in this space that have great ideas, but they never act on them. I believe you follow up on action items and get things done! Spoken like a true Project Manager, I thought, and I said, oh yes, I'm a great student. I further explained. I have all the pieces I just need guidance on how to connect them all and make this a fine tune oiled machine. I accepted and we had our first in person meeting. Bruce was very diligent with his time, and we resolved a lot of my issues in my first 1-hour meeting. I was a good student and implemented all his changes – you all may not have noticed yet, but you will! In my next meeting, I think he felt a little more comfortable with me and really drilled down and provided me with great feedback.  Today, I'm in the middle of making those changes and the most significant change will be a new tagline – a new thumbnail is coming soon and checkout my new website changes at fearlessinnovator.com My new tagline will define who I am and what I do. So, pardon my mess as I work through my thoughts and fine tune what that will look like.  Have a great weekend everyone and I'll see you back here next week on the Fearless Innovator podcast. “One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.”  – Jean Vanier   I am so excited for this one! We are fresh off Podfest Origins, a podcast-based multimedia expo in Florida, and I have my first pod-connect, Peter Ong. Peter is coming to us live from Kuala Lumpur, a Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. That is right, we are worlds apart and yet share the love of podcasting! In a divide world, now more than ever we need unity. What better way to unite than for our love of podcasting and the podcasting community? Peter is a podcaster (obviously), Japanese speaking online marketer, coach, and animation video creator. We talk about Peter's journey into business and podcasting and how we both embraced the Chris Krimitsos, Founder and Creator of Podfest, motto, Start Ugly! It's not easy to get on the mic and share your voice, but it is necessary. You can learn from our journeys that it can be a work in progress (podcasting or any new challenge/ adventure) just begin and be open to evolution as you go. Who knows, you might end up with friends around the world at the very least! Community is everything and finding yours is easier than ever- use your voice, share your words, and make friends… the world needs your individuality to unite accordingly (aka niche communities = family:). Everything is easier when you have the supportive efforts of the fam!   Highlights: Entrepreneurship. Podcasting and the podcasting community. Crossing paths because of common ground. The power of community, support, and chasing the dream. Questioning a better way and using your voice. Starting ugly and imposter syndrome. Branding and marketing. Unlike the featured guest who comes in and delivers a keynote and leaves, slipping out the back door like a national celebrity, Chris Krimitsos is the passionate professional who hangs around talking to anyone who wants his time – to listen, evaluate, and affect change. Chris brings the unique perspective of success from both sides of an event. He understands the challenges of the organizer that needs to move an audience, having himself facilitated over 2,000 events that have brought together business owners, toward economic growth, under the umbrella of Tampa Bay Business Owners, which he founded in 2008. That success regionally was the springboard to launching a national event, Podfest Multimedia Expo, which he grew to over 975 attendees in just five years, with an expectation of 1,500-plus in year six, thanks to his ability to communicate key messaging to that community. Channeling that energy into creating a documentary, now he is making an impact globally. Under the CK Productions banner, as a filmmaker and producer, Chris successfully birthed The Messengers: A Podcast Documentary, which obtained worldwide distribution and theatrical screenings. This after having hosted and produced two TV shows earlier in his career. Of note was one of those projects being archived in the Library of Congress. With a unique skill set programmed to stay out in front of rapid change, Chris Krimitsos – as a speaker, as a business leader, and as a source for growth – is empowering audiences toward better opportunities for succeeding in business in the 21st century. Chris is also the author of the book Start Ugly a timeless tale about  change and innovation, told through the entertaining parable of Gregory Sharp. Creativity is iterative. It is about possibility. True creativity is about the everyday making of things; of just doing and refining until we can eventually get to our genius. Sometimes all we need is the discipline to just start. So if we can give ourselves the permission to just start with whatever terrible ideas we have, we can often get into that sought after “flow state” even sooner.  Many creatives are binary when it comes to what and how they produce work. Either it's all about inspiration and the arts, or it's sitting down and hammering out an idea. Too many of us are quick to judge a thing as good or bad. And in doing that we paralyze our process with fear of failure or looking foolish. But there is an unfiltered nature to “starting ugly” and if we own it, we can open up a variety of pathways until we get to where we want to be. But being a fulltime creative and/or self-employed means you have to wear your discipline hat. You have to have a routine in order to clear your brain and just start.  To dive deeper into how to “start ugly” I have brought back a friend and past guest, best-selling author and photographer, David duChemin. David is a leading expert in the field of creativity. His podcast and book, A Beautiful Anarchy, help him share his message with tens of thousands. Fueled by his endless creative hunger, he has built a seven-figure business with the goal of inspiring others to realize that the creative life is for everyone—not just artists. David spent the last twelve years travelling the world as a humanitarian photographer and creativity workshop instructor on all seven continents. His expertise has been profiled in magazines and podcasts including Overland Journal, Elephant Journal and The Accidental Creative.  Find out how to own your “ugly” by downloading this episode now. THE WARRIOR OF EMPATHY “Poetic over perfection.” - David duChemin Highlights - We can get to the “flow state” faster if we give ourselves the permission to start with bad ideas.  Inspiration comes from discipline. Perfection can be reframed as something that  is “complete” not something “without flaw.” If we wait until our fear goes away, we'll never get to our best work.  Perfection is not what endures. What leaves a legacy is poetic, not perfect.  “Write drunk. Edit sober.” - Hemingway Make your start automatic. Routine clears the brain and gets it ready to work.  Setting constraints around yourself to give yourself less of a chance for choice paralysis. Have you or even your marketing team ever thought of a great idea, but then you keep thinking about it and thinking about it and then you never start? A Speaker, Author of the book Start Ugly, Creator of the Podfest Multimedia Expo, Producer, and the Chief Creative Officer of the Podfest Multimedia Expo, Chris Krimitsos, motivates listeners to get started with their idea, no matter if the start is ugly, because there is no such thing as a perfect start.   Takeaways: “People need to innovate at the speed of thought.” - Chris Krimitsos There are two kinds of people. People that fail to start and then the successful business owners that plateau, because they do not want to move outside of their comfort zone. Not getting started with an idea is all rooted in fear. People can either be afraid of the unknown and they procrastinate, or they are achievement oriented and are afraid that their idea is not perfect yet. Learn the way you learn and use that to your strength to start your idea. To intentionally live out your life the way you want to, you need to ask yourself, what do you want to accomplish, what will make you happy, what avenues and skills do you have to make it a reality, and what do you want out of life? If you are thinking of starting a podcast, stay in your niche of what you are knowledgeable about and the community of listeners you are marketing to. Before starting a podcast, do your research. When you decide on the niche that you want to stick with, listen to other podcasts in that niche and see if there is a format that is not yet being done. Career advice - Don't chase money, value all your relationships, and understand that there is no hierarchy in life. “We're all equal, but we all provide different values in the tapestry known as humanity.” - Chris Krimitsos “Intentionally [live] out your life the way you want to and not the way other people expect you to.” - Chris Krimitsos   Links: LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/chriskrimitsos/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Chriskrimitsos Chriskrimitsos.com: https://chriskrimitsos.com/ Podfest Multimedia Expo: https://podfestexpo.com/ Vidfest Expo: https://vidfestexpo.com/ Start Ugly: https://www.amazon.com/Start-Ugly-Timeless-Innovation-Change-ebook/dp/B086R1TH7F/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1BUAZV05UWQUV&dchild=1&keywords=start+ugly&qid=1596727278&sprefix=start+ugly%2Caps%2C182&sr=8-3   Busted Myths: Wait to start your idea until it is perfected or else it will not survive. - There is no such thing as a perfect start! The Business of Meetings

We have an amazing guest today! We're excited to welcome Christy Haussler, from Team Podcast. Christy is the queen of podcasts, and she has a fascinating story to share. She has helped more than two hundred and fifty people create their podcasts over the last five years. She is exceptionally knowledgeable about how and why you should do a podcast, and about the results that you can expect from doing one.  In today's show, Christy shares her story. She talks about how she pivoted from corporate America to having a business of her own, how she became an entrepreneur, the value of podcasting, and about moving from South Carolina to the Florida Keys with her wife to pursue her dream and start a brand new life. How it all started Christy has a teaching degree but she soon realized that she did not have the right temperament for teaching. And she also realized that she could make a lot more money in business than she would as a teacher. So she started working in call center management, where she was managing both in and outbound sales teams for several Fortune 500 companies. After about sixteen years, and various changes, the call center was closed down and Christy found herself without a job and having to start all over again. Lessons learned One of the lessons that Christy learned is that there's no security in corporate jobs. And often, people simply settle for whatever the corporations want them to do, out of necessity, even if it's not in their best interest or the best interest of their families.  Some beauty in the madness Christy eventually found another job managing a call center, but it was a two-hour drive from where she lived. So she had to drive for four hours each day, just to get to work and back.  There was good in that, however, in that it allowed Christy to listen to every single audiobook in the library. And when the audiobooks ran out, she started listening to podcasts. That was back in 2010-2011 when podcasts were starting to come out. Podcasts presented a whole new world When Christy realized that she could download podcasts using WiFi, and then listen to them later, she felt as if a whole new world had opened up for her.  Automobile university While driving in her car, Christy started learning about business and marketing, and that brought something out of her that she never knew existed before. Starting a podcast Eventually, she started doing a podcast of her own, about local businesses all over the country. It was at a time when local businesses were not yet familiar with podcasts, so Christy modeled her podcast on what the “gurus” were doing at the time.   Pursuing a dream After doing both her podcast and working at her full-time job for some time, Christy and her wife decided to start over again and relocate from South Carolina to a location where most people spend their vacation.  They decided to move to the Florida Keys and start their new life there. Christy left her corporate job and scared herself to death by cutting her income in half and almost tripling her living expenses in pursuit of her dream.  Getting out of your comfort zone If you bravely go ahead with a plan and put yourself out there, you will see how the universe conspires for you, and things just fall into place. Some people call it luck but Christy sees it as a willingness to get out of her comfort zone. Relocating and reinventing themselves Christy and her wife relocated, and they started afresh. They have been working together in their business for the last three years now, and they've been able to achieve both lifestyle design and location independence. Taking just one step at a time Christy discovered that by taking one step at a time, without trying to look at the whole picture, things worked out. So she decided that if a door opened in front of her, she would commit to walking through it, and only then face the next step if it were to present itself. And doors kept opening, and she kept walking through them. New beginnings Christy had no idea when she decided to take only one step at a time, that everything would work out quite as quickly as it did, and that within a year, she and her wife would have settled into their new life in the Florida Keys.  A simple way to move forward Sometimes in business, everything that goes into a big project can be overwhelming. And you may feel that you're not getting things done in the right way.  Christy explains that all you need to do is to look for the next thing that will move the needle for you and commit to doing just that. When it's finished, check it off the list and go on to the next thing. And so on.  And before you know it, you will see that you've made considerable progress towards the project as a whole.  Golden handcuffs Often, the things we think that we want to show our achievements, like a big house or a nice car, end up becoming golden handcuffs or a ball-and-chain when an opportunity arises for us to make a move towards something that will truly fulfill us. Willingness is key If you're willing to give up something good, to achieve something better, you may even find in the end that you have lost nothing at all because the universe conspires for you when you're willing to follow your heart. Podcasts are a great marketing tool Organic traffic is any free traffic to your website. And podcasts have been proven to provide the most organic traffic for any business.  Podcasting can turn a typical marketing experience into an educational experience because the podcast allows you the opportunity to create content specifically for your target audience. Taking the first step Getting going with a new project is more important than perfecting it. You will naturally refine things in time, so get going as soon as you can. The best tool for marketing Podcasting is the best tool for marketing. And it allows you to reach out to people you want to have on your show, or to those you'd ultimately like to have as a client.    Links and resources Recommended book: Start Ugly by Chris Krimitsos Christy's Podcast Monetization Secrets Podcast  Team Podcast Website Join Christy's Facebook Group - Podcast Monetization Secrets   Connect with Eric: On LinkedIn On Facebook On Instagram On Website If you'd rather watch the video of this interview, subscribe on YouTube

This weeks guest is Chris Krimitsos, Author of Start Ugly. Chris joins us in this episode to have a conversation around this concept. Start ugly started in a business training Chris was holding when he was trying to get people to get over their fears of starting, he simply stated one day....."start ugly" and its been part of his trainings ever since. The book is intended to be read in a single sitting. It tells the fictional story about an established business man who ultimately loses his business to a younger man because he refused to adapt to the current climate and "start ugly" over when he needed to. I'm incredibly grateful for Chris, the time he spent with us, and the relatability of his message. He clearly finds purpose and fulfillment in his work and it shows. Today our expert guest is Chris Krimitsos. He is the organizer of Podfest Expo, one of the top podcast conferences in the world. He has created a podcast documentary called The Messengers, and author of the recently released book Start Ugly, which encourages people to get over their perfectionism. Chris grew up in a large, supportive family, and his next door neighbor was a firefighter. He had the model of helping people all around him throughout his life. When he came of age, he wanted to do really well in business so he could help people. In his late 20's, he would ask himself, “What would I want my life to be if you take money out of the equation?” His answer was, “Help people.” Then he had to figure out through what vehicles he would be able to help people, and that ended up being by creating facilitated environments and communities. When he made this decision, we were just in the middle of transitioning from living our lives in the physical world to creating more community in the digital world. We are shifting a bit more to going to yearly events as opposed to local communities. The incredible thing about these is that because of their reach and importance, they are all incredibly niche. People travel from all over to get that in-person interaction they crave with other like-minded people. If you are trying to start a community, whether it's online or in person, here are some tactics you can use: -Forget about numbers. Worry about making an impact for the people that do show up, and more will come. -You might think a big speaker will draw, but a local expert within your niche might draw much better. -Let the keynote be as long or short as it needs to be for the content to be shared effectively. Don't put an arbitrary time constraint on it. In Chris' new book, Start Ugly, he talks about wanting to give people the permission to get started without guilt or perfectionism. He believes that if everyone stopped worrying about getting everything right and just start working towards their goals, we could all accomplish incredible things.   The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “When I was a young kid growing up in Long Island, New York, Teddy Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, was buried a mile from my house and I would go and visit his gravestone. There was an inscription there that was, “Keep your feet on the ground and your eyes on the stars.” I believe if we can keep our feet on the ground, take it step by step, with our eyes on the stars, there's nothing we can't accomplish. I believe that anyone that's listening to this is able to start ugly and do great things with their lives, they've just got to take it one step at a time.” -- Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster.
