Friday (September 20) is the final deadline for early-stage female entrepreneurs in rural areas to apply for the 10th cycle of the ACORNS business development programme. ACORNS is this year celebrating the 10th anniversary of the initiative, which is supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, under its Rural Innovation and Development Fund. Charlie McConalogue T.D., Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, launched the latest cycle of the programme last month. As in previous years, there has been significant interest in the programme, but there is still time for those interested to apply for one of the 50 available places. The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday, September 20. ACORNS 10 is completely free to those selected to participate. It will run from October 2024 to April 2025 and will include six monthly round table sessions, a workshop on understanding financials, and briefings by various business development agencies. All round table sessions are facilitated by a Lead Entrepreneur, who has first-hand experience of starting successfully growing a business in rural Ireland. A survey carried out at the end of the last cycle, ACORNS 9, revealed that participants increased their total turnover over the course of the six-month programme by €1.2m, from €2.8m to €4m (+43%). All participants surveyed said that they would recommend participating in ACORNS to others. Participants also reported doubling their total workforce to 133, with 59 full-time and 74 part-time staff employed at the end of the cycle - an increase of 67. There were also four new exporters over the cycle. Any woman with a new business based in rural Ireland - or an idea for a new venture they want to get off the ground - can get more information and register to receive an application form at www.acorns.ie. Based on a belief that entrepreneurs learn best from each other, ACORNS is centred on interactive round table sessions facilitated by successful female entrepreneurs who have started and grown businesses in rural Ireland. These are known as ACORNS Lead Entrepreneurs, and they give their time free of charge to encourage and support the new business owners. Each of the Lead Entrepreneurs give their time to the programme on a voluntary basis, as they believe in the philosophy of 'entrepreneurs helping entrepreneurs'. This year's voluntary Lead Entrepreneurs are Alison Ritchie, Polar Ice; Caroline Reidy, The HR Suite; Eimer Hannon, Hannon Travel; Larissa Feeney, Kinore; Mary B Walsh, Ire Wel Pallets; and Triona MacGiolla Rí, Aró Digital Strategies. Fitzsimons Consulting, which specialises in entrepreneurship and growth, developed the initiative. Founder Paula Fitzsimons says: "ACORNS 9 produced positive results for the early-stage entrepreneurs who took part in the programme. Participants' total revenues increased by more than 40% during the six-month cycle, while the total workforce doubled to 133. We're grateful for the support of the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and his Department as we continue our mission to provide appropriate tailored support to enterprising women in rural Ireland." Eligibility Criteria for Participation on ACORNS To be considered for ACORNS, applicants must: Have set up a new business which has generated sales no earlier than the end of June 2021 or be actively planning a new venture and have made good progress towards getting the new venture off the ground. Indicators of actively planning a business would include organising the start-up team, sourcing equipment / facilities, money saved for the start-up, writing the business plan, etc. They must own or part-own the business and be living in a rural area, that is in an area outside the administrative city boundaries of Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford. If selected, applicants must be available to attend the launch Forum and first round table session on October 21 and 22, 2024. They must expect to become an employer w...

To complicate the matters, France 24 reported that" some representatives of African nations have said they could support a phase out deal if wealthy countries, who have long produced and used fossil fuels, agree to quit first. Polar ice has a story to tell. Trapped in it are clues to the past -- dirt and dust, and air -- going back a million years . From this, climate scientists can figure out what was happening during past ice ages and warm periods. In each case, it all came down to carbon -- how much carbon dioxide was in the air.  And we're now at CO2 levels last seen in the Pliocene Epoch -- 2.5 to 5 million years ago, long before modern humans walked the earth.   Sure, we call ourselves homo sapiens, but glaciologist Martin Siegert says we're heading toward a 'stupid warm' future, and it's time to get smart.  He lays it all out here -- what's happening, what the ice is telling us, and what we need to do now.Martin Siegert is a glaciologist with three decades of experience, including research in Antarctica., a professor, and co-director of the Grantham Institute - Climate Change and Environment, at Imperial College London (UK).

In this episode, we continue our discussions on polar ice melting by shifting our focus to the Arctic and water. Changes to the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets are of considerable societal importance, as they directly impact global sea levels, which are a result of climate change. Sea level rise will reshape coastlines as incoming water floods dry areas and erodes coastal features like beaches, cliffs and dunes. Policies and regulations governing this area are tricky because the region is a geographical area comprising eight countries including five coastal states with jurisdiction over parts of the Arctic Ocean. So, what will happen and what can we do? The pals get into it! In this episode we are going to talk about what happens when the polar ice caps melt, with a focus on effects seen in the earth's crust and permafrost loss. Ongoing ice loss in West Antarctica has increased over the past few decades. Measurements since the 1950s indicate that the amount of sea ice in the Arctic has been declining. Permafrost in the Arctic alone is estimated to hold nearly twice as much carbon as exists in the atmosphere now, as well as a sizable amount of methane, and losing it turns what is one of the greatest carbon sinks on earth to a major emissions source. Since the retreat of a glacier can reduce stress loads on Earth's crust underneath, impacting the movement of subsurface magma, this can lead to volcanic activity and other surface implications. Can polar ice sheets be used as an indicator for climate health? By monitoring shifts and melting, metrics of change can be recorded to aid researchers. Press play to learn: How the sheets shift and change over time What lies below the ice in the poles What can generally be seen as the seasons change each year Dr. Xavier Fettweis, a Research Associate - Chercheur qualifié (FNRS), shares his current research on the formation and movement of ice sheets, mainly in Greenland and Antarctica. The ice caps and sheets melting have been used as rhetoric for many angles of the climate change debate for decades, but the reality of the situation can be surprising. By measuring the ice sheets over time, we can track trends and other environmental factors worldwide through only a few points of contact.  What we see with the melting and shifts of ice sheets can be intimidating when looking to the future. If a specific tipping point is reached in the next century, it may be impossible to reform any ice sheets in the future.  Search for Dr. Xavier Fettweis on your search engine of choice to learn more. The Polar Ice is melting, the permafrost of Siberia is thawing and every summer the Arctic is engulfed in large forest fires. The Arctic region is undergoing terrestrial changes. At the same time the Arctic region is dependent on heavy industries, such as oil, gas, iron ore, nickel and heavy plants. These sites often damage the local environment, in a region which already is heavily affected. A region that also attracts more and more tourist from all over the world that wants to explore the exotic arctic nature and lifestyle. The paradox of having industries that destroy your neighbourhood is very interesting and in this episode this is our main focus.

OR … LISTEN NOW >>> LISTEN HERE 24/7 release of Prince Handley teachings, BLOGS and podcasts > STREAM Twitter: princehandley ___________________________________________________________ DESCRIPTION OF THIS TEACHING In this podcast teaching we will discuss two postulates concerning Climate Change that are never covered by environmentalists, the media, or authors on the subject. Also, several resources are available for further study. Hopefully, IF you are involved in environmentalism―expending time or money―you may find another way to be more effective in helping Planet Earth and its inhabitants. ___________________________________________________________   CLIMATE LEGISLATION THE INCONVENIENT UNTRUTH First, let me say that I am NOT against Environmental Protection and basic Green initiatives: especially clean water, air and crops (or food) … and solid energy conservation. BUT … maybe I can save you some money and time in your efforts. So … let’s start here >>> Most, if not all, of the assumptions ... in Al Gore's movie, The Inconvenient Truth, are NOT accurate, and represent an "ad-hoc" system of statistical prevarication. In short, it's a BIG LIE. For example the "seeming" correlation of temperature to CO2 in the atmosphere. Gore states ... and thereby presupposes ... that the CO2 present in the atmosphere is causal to the rise or fall of temperature. When, the reverse is true: it is the temperature―the sun has a lot to do with this!!!―which is the casual effect for the amount of CO2 present in the atmosphere. If I were to tell you that 90% of the people in Hicksville who drink "Pollute Pop" soda have NO dental cavities, would that be impressive? Would you advocate for "Pollute Pop?" Would you also be an activist for the cause of everyone drinking "Pollute Pop?" What if the truth were - and you didn't know, or didn't take time to investigate - that 90% of the population in Hicksville have NO teeth! CHECK OUT THE SCIENCE During the first 3 months of 2017, over 150 papers had already been published in scientific journals that cast doubt on the position that anthropogenic CO2 emissions function as the climate’s fundamental control knob. AND … in only a few weeks during June of 2017, another 20 scientific papers were identified which linked solar variations to climate changes, which means 58 papers had already been published by that time just in 2017. Since solar activity does vary, it kind of makes more intuitive sense that this might affect climate more than the level of CO2 in the atmosphere. Since 2016 over 650 scientific papers have been published warning against global warming theory. Cutting edge research now works against the “Warmists!” As an engineer who worked in a chemical laboratory for years (I wrote my thesis in a chemical laboratory) it is easy to discern that if such an inconvenient UNtruth is being presented to people (including little children in schools) that, just maybe, there might be something more to Gore's―and other “Climate Change” advocates'—purpose in advocating for climate change. Could it be that they might be set to make billions of dollars with his green and eco-friendly climate companies and investments? Also, most ... if not all ... of the tendencies for "supposed" climate change (rise of sea level, melting ice caps, temperature rise) are not only exaggerated, but IF they WERE true, would take 50 to 100 years to show any marked effect. It's interesting to note that the terminology "Global Warming" has been replaced with "Climate Change." PRINCE HANDLEY POSTULATES THE FOLLOWING 1. Planet Earth will not be around that long. Even if it is, there will be such sulphuration in the atmosphere due to warfare that any attempts at climate control will be negligible ... nada!2. Scientifically, because of coming earthquakes and the comcomitant volcanic activity due to tectonic plate shifts, AND the resultant sulfuration of the atmosphere, Planet Earth should be shielded to some extent from sun rays and temperature should be lowered. However, we know this is NOT the case because we read in Scripture prophecy―which has always been fulfilled precisely and accurately―the following: "And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto Him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which has power over these plagues: and they repented not to give Him glory." (Brit Chadashah (The Hebrew New Testament): Revelation 16:8-9) My friend, there is coming such a rise in temperature as a result of the judgment of God, that NO amount of climate control could have even a minuscule effect on the temperature of Planet Earth. SUMMARY So … just in case you have been expending lots of your time and money on extreme (or, NON-practical) energy or green initiatives … WHY NOT turn those efforts around helping people in your community and around the world with things like clean water (or wells) … medicine, Bibles, and those things they urgently need NOW. And just in case YOU don’t know the LORD―so YOU can plan for life beyond Planet Earth―ask Him to come into your life today, and He will help YOU to “clean up your world.” Just pray this prayer: “God, if Yeshua (Jesus) is really your Son … IF He is really the Messiah … reveal Him to me and I will serve you the rest of my life. Amen” OK, my friend, have a SUPER BLESSED day and the rest of your life! Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai. For the beard portion of the podcast, Dan and Eric review three scents from Black Tie Beard Oil -- Royale Black, Autumn Night and Polar Ice -- and use an odd jean-based rating system to do so.
