We're one week away from the start of the 2024-25 NHL season, which means there was plenty to talk about on today's episode of Better Lait Than Never. This week, we're talking pre-season disasters, Darnell Nurse's return to the lineup, and working through whatever was on your mind over the last seven days in another jam-packed edition of the voicemail.I started this week's podcast with a rant about the NHL pre-season. No, this wasn't an RSB but rather a thought I had to let out after another round of NHL stars had to leave their respective games with injuries. At this point, not only am I over the pre-season, but all these injuries have really punctuated the point that this tune-up period shouldn't be longer than a few games max.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I ran through the latest camp updates now that the team is starting to look a little more like the one we'll see on opening night. The Oilers will also be welcoming Darnell Nurse back to the lineup for his first pre-season game of the year, and I offered yet another set of reasons why he's going to be incredibly important to the team's success. I know there are a lot of people who fixate on his contract, but I'm thinking more about what he can do on the ice when he's at his best.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with some betting talk and a pair of RSBs before diving into this week's lot of voicemails. Even though this week's VM segment was one of the shorter ones we've had in a while, you fantastic folks always bring the heat when it comes to dropping your takes. More importantly, having your feedback on the show is one of the most important parts of BLTN, and I'm always grateful that you took the time to comment. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Your Wednesday wouldn't be the same without a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never to wrap up the day and help guide you through what's left of the week. On today's podcast, I'm talking about Oilers rumours, PTO targets, betting futures, reality dating shows, and a whole lot more.I kicked off this week's podcast with yet another conversation about reality dating shows. Not only do I love them, but I finally got through the newest season of Love Island USA, and I could not be happier about it finally coming to a close. Frankly, the seasons of that show are way too long, and it was standing in the way of watching a much better trash fire in Too Hot to Handle.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, it seems like the news du jour after the Holloway/Broberg offer sheets is what the Oilers can do with their newfound cap flexibility. According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the Oilers are looking around the league for defensive upgrades, including the idea of bringing back a couple of old friends for another tour of duty. Yet, given the current depth chart, all of the options the Oilers seem to be looking at are RHD, which has plenty of us wondering if that's the right approach.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with some betting talk and an RSB about moving companies before working through another round of voicemails that were all over the map. The good news is that today's voicemails were a mixed bag of topics, which is always fun from my side of the microphone, and you fantastic folks did not disappoint. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
I'm back from vacation, and the Oilers spent the week wheeling and dealing, so I had plenty to talk about in this week's episode of Better Lait Than Never.I started this week's podcast with a quick recap of my vacation to Toronto. It was incredibly relaxing until I ran into some travel delays. From seeing blink-182 again to Niagara Falls to driving around the city, I got up to a lot despite not being there for very long. That said, I think a week in the 6ix is my absolute limit, and I think it's important to add that it's incredibly nice to be back in Edmonton. Just me? Possibly.Turning the podcast to the Oilers, I started the news with a look at the Broberg/Holloway offer sheet situation that reached its conclusion yesterday morning. After a week of waiting, speculation, and a handful of moves by the team, the Oilers opted not to match the Blues' offers on their young players, and I wanted to talk about why they chose to let both guys walk. I also looked at the other trades that happened this past week, including the Cody Ceci deal everyone's been waiting years to see and the trade to bring in Vasily Podkolzin from Vancouver. Despite being in August, this last week was a spicy one for the Oilers.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with some betting talk, an RSB about airline travel, and worked through another round of voicemails that were all over the map yet again. The good news is that today's voicemails were a mixed bag of topics, which is always fun from my side of the microphone. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
I'm supposed to be on vacation this week, but the St. Louis Blues came along and ruined things before I was even able to have a coffee this morning. *spits*Kicking off this week's podcast, I started the show with a quick recap of what my vacation plans were supposed to be and how this morning's news really threw a wrench into my Tuesday plans. The good news is that I'm always down to yell about the Oilers, and since it's been forever since we've gotten any news, why not poke my head out of my pillow fort to talk about Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg? One thing I know for sure is that these offer sheets were the last thing the Oilers needed right now, which is why the Blues actually pulling the trigger on them is all the more annoying. Even though St. Louis didn't do anything wrong, it almost seemed like tendering offer sheets was a no-no on the GM's good guy guide to the galaxy, making today's news all the more surprising. Of course, it also didn't help to read how other fanbases are basically dancing in the street because someone is trying to screw Edmonton over. Hate us 'cause they ain't us? Possibly.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with some betting talk, a guest RSB, and another round of voicemails that were all over the map again, especially with where we're at in the off-season news cycle. The good news is that today's voicemails were a wild mixed bag of topics, which is always fun from my side of the microphone. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
Your workweek is 60% done (probably), and that means a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never is edited, ready, and here to help you close in on the weekend.I started off this week's episode of BLTN with a random array of topics, which is par for the course in the middle of August. That said, these slow weeks do give me plenty of time to ramble about my love for terrible reality TV shows, meaningless summer observations, and whatever else is going on in my life. This past weekend, as an example, I spent a couple of days out in Sylvan Lake and a whole lot has changed since the last time I was out that way.Turning the podcast to the Oilers, I started off the news with a quick rundown of the content we're writing at Oilersnation.com and how it always impresses me the way we're able to keep things going without having much actual news to talk about. That said, finding things to write and talk about does get significantly more difficult at this point of the off-season. On the other hand, I will never tire of off-season Kool-Aid season even if that means spending weeks on end talking about Draisaitl's new contract.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with an RSB about the leaves changing colour already, even though I'm absolutely not ready for winter to roll back around. I then wrapped up the podcast with another round of voicemails that were all over the map again, especially with the news cycle being as slow as it is right now. The good news is that slow news weeks mean the voicemails get a whole lot weirder, which is always fun from my side of the microphone. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
The best part of Wednesday is checking your favourite podcast app and seeing a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never waiting for you. The good news is that I'm back with a fresh podcast to massage your eardrums and give you a few laughs along the way.I started off this week's podcast with a dose of my usual nonsense. From getting into the Olympics to the stress of picking an NFL team to back, the best part of the off-season is filling my day with nonsense and shenanigans. If there's one thing I love more than anything, it's wasting everyone's time with nonsense and tomfoolery, and that's basically what the first 10 minutes of today's show were.Turning the podcast to the Oilers, I had to start with the Royal Wedding from this past weekend and how we still haven't seen much of anything in terms of news or pictures. One can assume they probably sold the rights to take photos to some magazine or something, but you'd have to imagine how many folks are patiently waiting for a glimpse into the McDavid wedding. Speaking of waiting, I then offered my take on the Leon Draisaitl contract extension and how it doesn't really matter when he signs the thing provided that it gets done.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with an RSB about robocalls and how annoying they are, given that there are seemingly endless iterations rolling in on a daily basis.
There's nothing quite like a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never to cap off your Wednesday afternoon and work your way through the back half of the week. On this week's podcast, I'm talking about the Oilers' GM search, new music, reality TV, and a whole lot of nonsense.I started this week's podcast with a quick roundup of all things reality TV, new music, and why I love taking time in the off-season to shut my brain off and watch these reality show train wrecks. As the summer of Baggedmilk continues, a big part of it is taking time to recharge the batteries after what was an intense season covering the Oilers, and I couldn't think of a better way than watching 20-somethings fumble their way through reality TV dating concepts.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, there's not a lot of news happening right now, but that didn't stop not-a-GM-but-totally-a-GM Jeff Jackson from making another trade. This time, he sent struggling prospect Xavier Bourgault to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Roby Jarventie, a rugged Finn who missed a big chunk of last season with a knee injury. I also walked through a bunch of quotes that came out of the annual Zach Hyman Golf Tournament this week, including Connor McDavid's thoughts on how the Oilers' offseason has looked so far.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with an RSB about grocery store etiquette and another round of voicemails ranging from summer in Edmonton, some light Oilers talk, a prank attempt, and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how much the Oilers got done in free agency, and it has me excited to see what else is yet to come. Either way, I don't know that I've seen Oilers social media as united as it's been over the last few days, and that positivity is incredibly nice to see only a week after the team fell short in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.I started off this week's Better Late Than Never by confessing how relieved I am that the NHL season is done and that there's finally some time to recharge. That's not to say that I'm complaining about the Oilers' Cup run — far from it — just that it was a lot of punishment on the body. Without knowing for sure, I'd guess that I probably put on 15-20 pounds over the last couple of months, and now the goal will be to see how quickly I can shed the weight.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, how could I not start with a tribute to Jeff Jackson? Even though Jackson told everyone he is not interested in being Edmonton's general manager long-term, the guy has done a fantastic job in the role so far. Given everything he was able to accomplish on the first day of NHL free agency, many Oilers fans are wondering what it will take for Jackson to remove the interim tag off his title and keep doing what he's been doing. Of course, it's easy to say that when we have no ideaLastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB about the Oilers being tied to Stan Bowman and capped off the pod with another round of voicemails ranging from praising Jeff Jackson's free agency and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
The Oilers' playoff run lasted 63, and it was arguably the most fun I've ever had in a two-month stretch. Even though it sucks to be so close and still fall short, it's also hard not to feel proud about the way the Oilers finished.I start this week's episode of Better Lait Than Never with a quick recap of my trip to Florida for Game 7. Outside of the result, those were arguably two of the most fun days I've ever had. From the chartered flight down to the mayhem at the Elbo Room on Sunday night, the people we met along the way made the trip worth it even though we flew across the continent for only 36 hours. As always, Oilers fans travel incredibly well, and it was so much fun to see as many of us down there as there were. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the team had their end-of-season interviews today, and it was interesting to hear everyone speak about what that run meant to them. Obviously, we all wanted to hear Leon Draisaitl say that he was going to sign an extension ASAP, but it wasn't exactly surprising to hear him say that he needed some time to process what just happened, even though he admittedly loves playing here. It was also fascinating to hear from the likes of Warren Foegele, Connor Brown, and Mattias Janmark, three guys who weren't exactly shy about admitting they wanted to come back. Of course, the NHL is a business at the end of the day, and in the salary cap days, it will be interesting to see how the team navigates their pending UFAs. We also heard a report from TSN's Darren Dreger which stated that Ken Holland will not be back with the organization next year despite initially hearing that he had a role offered to him to stay. Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB about the Oilers bandwagon and capped off the pod with another round of voicemails ranging from Stanley Cup woes to positive messages and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
The Oilers had their backs against the wall after falling behind 3-0 to the Florida Panthers, but the vibes have changed significantly after the boys won their last two games to push the series to Game 6 at Rogers Place. Needless to say, this past week has been emotional.I started out this week's podcast with what was basically a love letter to Edmonton after this city gave us some of the best times of my life over the last handful of days. There's nothing quite like being here when the Oilers are in a playoff push, and that feeling gets cranked up by a factor of 100 in the Stanley Cup Final. Even though everyone was feeling down when the Oilers fell behind by three games, you'd have thought we were up by three with the way everyone parties on Saturday night. Looking back at Tuesday's Game 5, the Oilers needed to go into Florida and get the job done in a bar where they had yet to win. Led by their captain, the boys did exactly that with what was an imperfect yet incredibly clutch 5-3 win. Now the series turns back to Rogers Place where I expect the crowd to quite possibly blow the roof off. If people thought the crowd was nuts for Game 4, I can only imagine the chaos that is about to happen only a couple of days from now. Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with an RSB about Oilers haters eating crow and capped off the pod with another round of voicemails ranging from Stanley Cup woes to positive messages and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
I'd be lying if I didn't acknowledge the hole the Edmonton Oilers find themselves in after losing both games in Florida to kick off the Stanley Cup Final, but that doesn't mean the series is over. It just means the mountain gets a whole lot tougher to climb.I started this week's podcast with a recap of our trip to Florida, what it was like at the Amarent Bank Arena, what we did on the off day, and what the Oilers need to do to pull themselves back in the series. Despite only being gone for four days, there was a lot going on for the four of us from Nation HQ who made our way down to Fort Lauderdale. We did live shows, wrote a bunch of articles, posted countless social posts, and despite the results, we also mixed in some shenanigans.Turning the show back to the Oilers, I started the news with some updates from the rink that Cam Lewis and Zach Laing provided after their first day on the beat. With the boys credentialed for the Stanley Cup Final, it's the first time Oilersnation has ever had this kind of access before, and it's made a huge difference for our coverage.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with an RSB about the horrible officiating and capped off the pod with another round of voicemails ranging from Stanley Cup woes to positive messages and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. The Oilers are one sleep away from kicking off the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars, which meant I had plenty to talk about on today's episode of Better Lait Than Never.I started the podcast with a couple of odds and ends from the end of the Vancouver series that I forgot to cover in yesterday's reaction episode of Better Lait Than Never before distracting myself and ending up on a rant about MILF Manor 2. If you haven't watched that show, it's arguably the dumbest program to ever grace the silver screen, and that's the exact reason I love it. Horrible TV + Baggedmilk = Happiness.Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, I got into the news with a look back at some of the incredible stats that came out after Game 7 put the boys into the next round. Looking at Edmonton's top players, it's amazing to see where the numbers some of them put up rank amongst the best to ever do it. As we head off to Dallas for the Western Conference Final, the Oilers will undoubtedly need their big dogs to keep eating, but they'll also need to get more from down in the lineup. I mean, there's no better way to battle Dallas' depth than with depth goals of our own, am I right?Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB and capped things off with another round of voicemails ranging from Oilers talk to sad/happy Round 2 reactions and everything in between. Once again, this podcast really is one of my favourite parts of the week, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Wednesday afternoon means a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never is all and ready to massage your earholes and carry you through the rest of the week. This week, we're talking about my time in Vancouver, Kris Knoblauch giving Calvin Pickard the Game 4 start, a little bit of pop culture, and whatever else is going on.I started this week's podcast with a general dose of shenanigans, including a couple of TV reviews and a quick recap of our trip to Vancouver for Games 1 and 2. As you'll hear, our trip to Vancouver was an eventful one and it started right from the moment we landed. Needless to say, we got a lot done while we were down there, and when you mix in two spicy games between the Oilers and Canucks, you've got the makings of all kinds of adventure.Getting into the news, how could I not start with last night's massive Game 4 win at Rogers Place? In the NHL playoffs, Game 4 is always the swing game, and the Oilers were either going to tie things up or find themselves in a 3-1 hole that would be very difficult to climb out of. The good news is that Calvin Pickard — yes, Calvin "Cal our Pal" Pickard — stepped into his first-ever playoff start and gave the boys the kind of backstopping they needed to close out the win.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB and capped things off with another round of voicemails ranging from Oilers talk to Woz's appreciation of birds and everything in between. Once again, this podcast always makes me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. How about an early episode of Better Lait Than Never to preview the upcoming second round against the Vancouver Canucks, the NHL playoffs, the return of Milf Manor, and a whole lot more. Welcome to a fresh BLTN, everybody.I started this week's podcast with an array of random topics ranging from the return of Milf Manor — with a new twist — and how it was a fantastic surprise to have it come back. I also talked about our plans for the week, as Tyler, Liam, Jay, and I will be heading to Vancouver tomorrow morning to cover Games 1 and 2. If you're in Vancouver or know of any Oilers fans who are, keep it locked on our social channels for details on where we'll be and when.Moving onto the news, I looked ahead at Game 1 against the Canucks that is happening tomorrow night at Rogers Arena. While many of us believe the Oilers should be the better team in this series, it's hard to ignore the lack of success Edmonton has had against the Canucks this past season. That's not to say that I don't think Edmonton will win—I absolutely do—but that doesn't mean this will be a cakewalk just because Thatcher Demko is out. That said, I'm still taking the Oilers in six.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB and capped things off with another round of voicemails ranging from Oilers talk to delivery orders and everything in between. Once again, this podcast always makes me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Wednesday can only mean your third-favourite podcaster is back with a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never to discuss tonight's elimination game against the Kings and whatever else is going on in our lives. Welcome to a fresh BLTN, everybody. To kick off this week's podcast, I started by looking back at our trip to L.A. and how it was one of the busiest trips we've ever had. From the articles up on the site to the room podcasts to the live shows at First Draft DTLA, those four days in Los Angeles were stacked up with Nation content, and it was incredible how much we were able to get done. Kicking off the news, I looked ahead at the Oilers' chance to eliminate the L.A. Kings and move on to the next round. While many of us believe tonight's game should be easy, watching both Vancouver and Boston fail to get the job done on Tuesday has me feeling otherwise. That's not to say that I don't think Edmonton will win—I absolutely do—but that doesn't mean closing this series out will be easy. That said, I think the Oilers are a mature enough team to get the job done. Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB and capped things off with another round of voicemails ranging from Oilers talk to delivery orders and everything in between. Once again, this podcast always makes me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Wednesday can only mean your third-favourite podcast is back with a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never to preview Game 2 against the Kings and discuss whatever else is going on in our lives. Welcome to a fresh BLTN, everybody. There's nothing quite like playoff time in Edmonton, you know? The sun is shining, the car flags are out, and our beloved Edmonton Oilers have kicked off what is sure to be another exciting and stressful playoff run. It's the best time of year. On Monday night, I was at Rogers Place for Game 1 of their first round matchup against Los Angeles, and it was so much fun to be back in the building with that kind of energy. I cannot wait for Game 2. We'll be flying down to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4 on Thursday, and I could not be more excited to be down there and get in the mix. The last two post-seasons in LA have been intense, and I can only imagine we're in for much the same treatment this third time around. If you've never been to a playoff game at Crypto.com Arena before, let's just say that a small segment of the fanbase can get really spicy.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with a guest RSB and capped things off with another round of voicemails ranging from Oilers talk to delivery orders and everything in between. Once again, this podcast always makes me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. We've passed the midway point of the week, which means a fresh episode of your mom's favourite podcast is ready to massage your ear feelings. On this week's Better Lait Than Never, we're looking at Connor McDavid hitting 100 assists, potential playoff matchups, reality TV, and whatever else has been going on over the last seven days.Kicking off this week's BLTN, I started the podcast with a random collection of topics, a confession that I might be getting hooked on Survivor again. Personally, I hadn't watched the show in over a decade, but having my missus glued to the TV every Wednesday night has piqued my interest. Then again, it might just be because I found out how much money Jeff Probst makes to host every episode.Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, I started the news with a tribute to Connor McDavid after he reached the 100-assist mark on Monday night against the San Jose Sharks. What was hilarious about that last assist, however, was that it took eight goals between the time Connor opened the scoring and when he picked up the helper he needed on Zach Hyman's 54th goal of the year. Evan Bouchard also touched some Oilers greatness against the Sharks after hitting the 80-point mark, and now, all I can think about is how much that next contract is going to cost.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's show with an RSB about the NHL schedule and capped things off with another round of voicemails that ranged from Oilers talk to landlord issues and everything in between. Once again, this podcast always makes me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. We've passed the midway point of the week, which means a fresh episode of your mom's favourite podcast is ready to massage your earholes. On this week's Better Lait Than Never, we're looking at Connor McDavid's day-to-day injury, more cereal talk, playoff matchups, and whatever else has been going on over the last seven days.Kicking off this week's BLTN, I started the podcast with a random collection of topics, including a look at a birthday song that Meat Watcher made for me. We haven't heard from Meat Watch in a while, but our guy came through with another beautiful BLTN original. I also called back on our great cereal debate from a few weeks ago after buying another blast from the past and adjusting my overall cereal rankings accordingly.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I started the news with the big story everyone is talking about Connor McDavid is banged up and will miss tonight's game versus the Golden Knights. Listed at day-to-day, McDavid could miss a game or two while he recovers from a lower-body injury, and understandably, Oilers fans are freaking out about it. We're also losing our collective minds about the Corey Perry/Evander Kane exchange from Saturday night when the camera caught them going at it a little bit.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's podcast with a little bit of betting talk for our friends at Bet99, offered up an RSB about the Arizona Coyotes, and capped things off with another round of voicemails that ranged from Oilers talk to dating to more cereal talk and everything in between. Once again, this podcast always makes me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. On this week's Better Lait Than Never, we're looking at Connor McDavid's chase for 100 assists, goal reviews, playoff matchups, and whatever else has been going on over the last seven days.Kicking off this week's BLTN, I started the podcast with a dose of random topics from the past week. From a friend of mine getting crapped on by birds to more Big Brother Canada talk to why I hated Road House, there was a lot going on this past week. Is all of this worth talking about? Probably not, but you may as well be into it, or I'll tell all of the stories twice.Getting back to the Oilers, how could I not start with some Connor McDavid talk? The guy is so hot right now that I'm legitimately concerned that he may spontaneously burst into flames. With 25 points in his last 10 games, McDavid is now 24 points away from hitting 150 on the season and 24 away from 1000 in his career. Needless to say, the captain has shaken off that "slow" start in a big way.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's podcast with a little bit of betting talk for our friends at Bet99, offered up an RSB about Peter Chiarelli, and capped things off with another round of voicemails that ranged from Oilers talk to reality TV to more cereal talk and everything in between. It's Wednesday afternoon, and that means a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never is set and ready to massage your ear holes.Kicking off the podcast, I got started with some big news from my personal life. Thanks to our friends at Sherwood Ford the Giant, I bought myself my first new car in over 15 years. Needless to say, it's been a minute. As much as I loved my old Escape, some repair needs relative to the worth of the vehicle meant that it was time for an upgrade, and that's exactly what I did.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I offered another look at our new friends in Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, and Troy Stetcher after all three players made an impact on the ice over the last week. I also looked back at the games the Oilers played since the last show, including Wednesday's win over the Caps, Saturday's loss to the Avalanche, and last night's sloppy win over the Canadiens. Even though the Oilers only played a couple of gamesI wrapped up this week's podcast with a little bit of betting talk for our friends at Bet99, offered up an RSB about winter driving, and capped things off with another round of voicemails that ranged from Oilers talk to reality TV to more cereal talk and everything in between. Once again, this podcast always makes me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving. No better way to celebrate the halfway mark of your work week than with a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never! This week, we're talking Edmonton Oilers, cereal, daylight savings time, and anything else thatKicking off this week's BLTN, I got the podcast started with a chat about cereal. That's right, cereal. Recently, I started buying a bunch of cereals I used to love as a kid to see if they still hold up, but what I didn't expect was the passionate debate about which one is the best. You, fine folks, were incredibly passionate about the subject, and I had so much fun going through everyone's takes about which cereals are best and which are the worst.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I started the hockey talk with plenty of excitement because I had tickets to Wednesday's game versus the Capitals, marking my first trip to Rogers Place in quite some time. From there, I looked at our new friends Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, and Troy Stecher and gave my first thoughts on how everyone is doing with their new team so far. I also wanted to give some love to Calvin Pickard. The guy is playing his ass off between the pipes right now despite so many people doubting him, and I think it's only fair to pump his tires a little bit after a fantastic performance against the Penguins.I wrapped up this week's podcast with a little bit of betting talk for our friends at Bet99, offered up an RSB about dog maintenance, and capped things off with another round of voicemails that ranged from Oilers talk to reality TV to your favourite cereals and everything in between. This podcast never ceases to make me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keeps moving this show forward. There's nothing quite like a big trade in the hours leading up to the new episode of Better Lait Than Never to liven up the podcast, amirite? Today, Ken Holland pulled the trigger on a trade that saw the Oilers send out their first (2024), fourth (2025), and fifth-round (2025) picks in exchange for Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, a seventh-round pick, and Ty Taylor, and I want to talk about it.Before we got to the trade talk, I had to walk through a few different things first, including the amazing Brunch for Ben that happened last weekend and Greta and the bonus episode of BLTN that I recorded with Dooks. For my money, Dooks' visit to town went about as well as it possibly could have, and I was very grateful to be able to spend a little bit of time with him. I was also happy that he was able to attend the Brunch for Ben that happened on Saturday, marking the first Nation event he was able to attend as well.Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, how could I not start with the massive trade that happened this afternoon? The Oilers sent out three picks—a first, fourth, and fifth—to acquire Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick at 75% retained while also grabbing a seventh-rounder and depth goalie as add-ins. While I personally like this trade a whole lot, it wasn't surprising to see how many Oilers fans were left wanting after the team spent its best trade chip on a middle-six forward and depth centreman.Lastly, I wrapped up this week's podcast with a little bit of betting talk for our friends at Bet99, played a guest RSB from Nick, and capped things off with another round of voicemails that ranged from Oilers talk to reality TV to anything else that was on your mind. Once again, this podcast never ceases to make me laugh, and I'm so very grateful for the levels of participation by the wonderful BLTN community that keep moving this show forward.Oh, and subscribe to my YouTube channel.Want to leave a voicemail for next week's show? In this episode, we talk to Andrew Chen, Principal for Aviation Decarbonisation at RMI. Founded in 1982 as Rocky Mountain Institute, RMI is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit that seeks to transform the global energy system to ensure a clean, zero-carbon future. Chen discusses RMI's multi-faceted approach to aviation decarbonisation, which includes stimulating demand for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and addressing aviation's non-CO2 emissions – specifically, the environmental impacts of contrails. He also touches upon RMI's broader mission concerning the decarbonisation of heavy industry and transportation sectors.Central to the conversation is the pivotal role of SAF in reducing aviation's carbon footprint. Chen discusses how RMI, through initiatives like the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA), is working to overcome the challenges posed by the current "green premium" associated with SAF. This involves mobilising corporate demand and leveraging technologies such as blockchain for the traceability of SAF certificates, thereby enhancing transparency and accountability in SAF transactions.Furthermore, Chen highlights the significant investments required to scale SAF production and the necessity of collaborative efforts across the aviation value chain for sustainable growth. He reflects on his experiences at Heathrow Airport, emphasising the critical role airports play in SAF adoption and the need for industry-wide collaboration. If you LOVED this episode you'll also love the conversation we had with Elena Schmidt, Executive Director of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB), about the journey of RSB in fostering sustainability, especially in the aviation and travel industries. In this episode, we talk to Elena Schmidt, Executive Director of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB).RSB is a global, multi-stakeholder independent organisation that drives the development of a new world bio-economy through sustainability solutions, certification, and collaborative partnerships.Schmidt acknowledges the difficulties in decarbonising aviation, given the reliance on fossil fuels and the current limitations of alternatives like hydrogen or electric planes. RSB views the ‘book and claim' system for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) as an effective solution. In 2021, RSB launched a SAF book and claim pilot with Air bp to enable certified SAF claims from Microsoft and United Airlines. The RSB Book & Claim System, aims to develop a credible and effective book and claim mechanism to expand the outreach of SAF and accelerate decarbonisation. 0 mins We are back with a full banana boat as I am joined by the Queen of BBQ, Alma as well as Johnny Deep and as always Jaime and Hiram from LA. We start by talking about some high school football for some reason as johnny races to the RSB studios from a high school game. We then get into the Cowboys and Niners game as we give Hiram a few minutes to gloat. I ask Alma is Taylor Swift is bigger than the NFL. I ask the crew if they know what they term dipping means. 10:00 mins BBQ Time - We are fresh (more or less) from our cook at the American Royal. We got beat worse than the Cowboys. Johnny, Alma and I give a recap of the road trip from hell as well as the entire weekend as a whole. We didn't do so great but we ran into some cool barbecue people and made the most of this adventure. We break down our cooks for both days and talk about what we would do different if we ever are crazy enough to give it another go. Alma and Johnny are down to try it again one day while I think staying in Texas to compete in some major cookoffs is the way to go for me. 35:00 Hiram tells us about his first hockey game experience and how he's coming off a battle with covid. He thinks he got sick at his Big Bear adventure. We circle back to football to continue to talk about the Dallas Cowboys and how depressed Jaime is about it. We don't get off the hook easy as Hiram reminds us that the Texas Longhorns also suffered a bad beat from their stupid rival Oklahoma Sooners. We talk about putting together an RSB cruise and what that would look like. Wimby makes his debut for the Spurs, is he the future of the NBA? Costner's wife says $50K per month is crumbs and needs much more. I ask the guys about a million dollar wager on if they play in an NFL game or NBA game. 10:00 mins BBQ Time - Talks about the American Royal are on as we talk logistics and possibly competing in the World Championship of BBQ. I share a video with the guys of someone cooking a steak with lava and I want to know why so many creative and unnecessary ways to cook steaks. We talk about what we ate for the 4th of July. I talk about a video I saw with slot dogs, something I have not tried but looks pretty interesting. 30:00 Hiram takes us behind the red carpet as we talk about a scuffle between Britney Spears and Wimby. In this episode, Courtenay invites Robert Scott Bell back to the show for a powerful discussion about government vs. God via his personal spiritual journey for sovereignty! Rote, widely accepted societal structures like income taxes, marriage licenses, and social security leave individuals stripped of their God-given sovereignty as they become nothing more than a number. RSB insightfully draws attention to this predicament and its imposition as well as how to escape the ‘mark of the beast' by keeping the focus on God. Robert Scott Bell, D.A. Hom. is a homeopathic practitioner, author, keynote speaker, and expert in silver and copper therapeutics. He is the co-author of Unlock the Power to Heal, host of the Robert Scott Bell Radio Show, and currently serves on the Board for Trinity School of Natural Health and United Precious Metals Association. What if I told you that your health, and your freedom to choose the healing modalities that are right for you, has been hijacked? Dr. Robert Scott Bell of the syndicated Robert Scott Bell Show, sits down with Brad Szollose to discuss the thing that we are not allowed to mention, how the truth is finally coming out on the CDC and NIH websites, along with a discussion on parasites and how Western Medicine ignores them. Many Guests on Robert's radio show are tops in their fields, such as Dr. Peter McCullough, who testified before the US Senate, yet is ignored by mainstream media because he dares to question the jab protocols that are currently in place.
