What if decorating your home didn't have to feel so hard? So time-consuming? So expensive? Inside today's episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on what really happens when you stop decorating alone and start using a proven shortcut. You'll hear directly from a member of The Collective, my monthly decorating membership, who went from feeling “meh” about her home to finally loving it—and doing it with more confidence, less decision fatigue, and without wasting time or money. Here's what you'll discover in this conversation: How knowing your design style is like lifting a weight off your shoulders Why confidence (not more Pinterest scrolling) is the secret to decorating momentum How the right support saves you time, money, and frustration The ripple effect a beautifully pulled-together home has on your family life If you've been wondering whether The Collective is really worth the investment, this episode is proof that transformation is possible for you, too.   The doors to The Collective, close for the fall this Sunday, September 14th.

$50,000,000 in Year One?! The Government Contract JV Shortcut

Govcon Giants Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 8, 2025 7:16

In this episode of The Daily Windup, I take you to the whiteboard and show why the “slow, organic staircase” rarely works in Government contracting—especially if you're doing this part-time. 10,000 hours at 40 hrs/week is ~5 years; at 20 hrs/week it's ~10 years, and real businesses zig-zag with downturns. Then I reveal the faster path: joint ventures. We break down the play you'll see in our clip—land a $20M award, leverage that instant track record, walk to the next door and stack another $30M for $50M in year one with one employee, because the agency looked at your partner's financials and capacity. That's speaking the language: position, partner, perform. Next, I run the math everyone ignores on $25K micro-buys at 20% margin. Year 1: 2 contracts = $50K revenue ($10K profit). Year 2: $100K revenue ($20K profit ≈ $10/hr). Year 3: $250K revenue ($50K profit). Year 4: 20 contracts = $500K revenue for $100K profit—nearly two contracts a month for a salary you could earn as a W-2 without the headache. The takeaway: stop chasing low-probability bids; use JVs to borrow past performance and balance-sheet strength, target bigger, better-aligned Government Contract opportunities, and engineer step-changes—not stair steps.

Is NAD really the fountain of youth, or just another overhyped supplement trend? From energy boosts to wrinkle reduction, the excitement is everywhere, but the truth is a lot more complex. In this episode, I sit down with biomedical engineer Courtney Van Bussum to cut through the noise. Courtney brings deep expertise in cellular and longevity science,, giving her a unique perspective on both the research and the real-world clinical applications. We cover: What NAD actually is and why it's essential for energy, longevity, and healthy aging. How to know if your NAD levels are low and whether it even matters. The biggest myths and misconceptions about NAD supplements. NAD changes in pre- versus post-menopause. Why precursors like NR and NMN may backfire if deeper pathways aren't addressed. Free and low-cost ways to preserve and recycle NAD naturally. What you need to know about the molecule 1-MNA (and why it may be more important than NAD itself). Courtney Van Bussum is the COO and co-founder of Longevity Launch Labs, an innovation incubator accelerating breakthrough products and companies in cellular and longevity medicine. With a background in biomedical engineering and early experience as a strategy consultant working with both Fortune 500s and startups, Courtney brings a rare blend of scientific insight and operational execution. “It's not about the ability to retire but also how we utilise the time while we are on this planet. In the last three years, I was travelling with just one backpack. Every item I buy has to fit in that backpack. If I buy something new, it means that I have to give up something else.”We are back with part two of our Providend Conversation with Jeshua, a 28-year-old who travelled during the COVID-19 pandemic to over 50 countries, navigating through the uncertainty of vaccinations, all while working remotely and keeping costs low.In this episode, Jeshua opened up about his reasons for choosing to study at a polytechnic versus the junior college and university route and why he considered it a ‘shortcut' in his filmmaking and creative journey.Jeshua believes that education is really about learning, and for him, it's less about being in a ‘branded' education institution and having a certificate. He also shared how his parents reacted to the choices he made: “It wasn't like I was going to drop out of school to do drugs or join a gang.” In fact, he considers himself to have graduated from the “university of life”.His thoughts on ‘fitting everything into one backpack' is truly a wonderful depiction of life and something for us to think about – what really matters to us and what we should or should not carry in our own ‘backpack' in life and how to live the most meaningful life that we possibly can.It has been a joy having Jeshua with us, and we hope you find his story as inspiring as we did.Music courtesy of ItsWatR.The host of this episode, Christopher Tan, is Chief Executive Officer of Providend, Singapore's first fee-only wealth advisory firm and author of the book “Money Wisdom: Simple Truths for Financial Wellness”.The full list of Providend's Money Wisdom podcast episodes from Season 4 can be found here.Did you know that our Providend's Money Wisdom podcast is now available in video format on YouTube? in this episode we answer emails from Chris, Trudie, and Earl.  Highlights:  The Father McKenna Center "Top of the T-shirt" campaign raised over $66,624 thanks to generous listener contributions; financial advisors are conflicted and also relatively uninformed marketing machines who are not very curious about finances and are too reliant on calculators; AI tools like Copilot can help implement risk parity strategies when fed quality information. And THEN we our go through our weekly portfolio reviews of the eight sample portfolios you can find at Portfolios | Risk Parity Radio. If you have comments or questions, please email frank@riskparityradio.com or visit www.riskparityradio.com.Breathless AI-Bot Summary:What happens when financial wisdom meets unconventional thinking? This episode of Risk Parity Radio opens with Emerson's timeless quote about foolish consistency being "the hobgoblin of little minds" – perfectly setting the stage for a fresh look at portfolio management that marches to a different beat. The Risk Parity Radio community shines as Frank announces the remarkable success of the Father McKenna Center fundraising campaign, which raised over $66,624. This achievement showcases the extraordinary engagement of listeners who value both financial knowledge and giving back. As Frank puts it, "I never really cared about having the largest audience. I just wanted to have the most engaged audience" – and with 2,500 regular listeners who actively participate in such initiatives, that goal has clearly been achieved.Diving into listener correspondence, Frank explores how one community member has leveraged AI tools like Copilot to implement risk parity strategies. This sparks a broader examination of technology's role in personal finance, with Frank cautioning that AI is only as good as the information it's fed. In an age where many advisors have become what Frank calls "calculator jockeys" – professionals who rely on planning software without understanding its limitations – this distinction between tools and expertise becomes crucial. The episode delivers a masterclass in practical financial knowledge, including an elegant explanation of the 240/200 rule for calculating monthly distributions. This mathematical shortcut exemplifies the podcast's approach: making complex concepts accessible without talking down to the audience. Frank demonstrates how dividing a portfolio value by 240 yields a monthly distribution equivalent to a 5% annual withdrawal rate – the kind of straightforward, useful information that listeners can immediately apply. The weekly portfolio review reveals impressive performance across all eight sample portfolios, with gold continuing its remarkable run at 36.91% year-to-date. From conservative allocations to more experimental leveraged strategies, these real-world examples provide valuable insights for listeners navigating their own investment journeys.Ready to break free from financial convention and build a portfolio that truly reflects your goals? Strategies Are Shortcuts And Not Surrender | Judges 1:22–26

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Support our mission to teach every verse of the Bible on video over the next 23 years. Read more about it here: PROJECT23 Our text today is Judges 1:22-26: "The house of Joseph also went up against Bethel, and the Lord was with them. And the house of Joseph scouted out Bethel. (Now the name of the city was formerly Luz.) And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him, 'Please show us the way into the city, and we will deal kindly with you.' And he showed them the way into the city. And they struck the city with the edge of the sword, but they let the man and all his family go. And the man went to the land of the Hittites and built a city and called its name Luz. That is its name to this day." — Judges 1:22-26 The tribe of Joseph had momentum. God was with them. They were positioned for another victory, and Bethel was next. They scouted the city, found a local man, and made a deal: "Show us the way in, and we'll spare you." It worked. They took the city, but they also let compromise slip in through the side door. The man they spared? He went off and built another city. A city that carried the same old name—Luz—the one God intended to obliterate. Here's the tension: partial obedience appears to be success… for a while. They captured Bethel. But they preserved a piece of what God intended to destroy. They won the battle. But they left the roots of resistance intact. And don't we do the same? We address the major sins, but overlook the smaller ones. We say yes to God, mostly. But we keep one foot in comfort or pride or bitterness. That's not surrender. That's strategy. And your strategy isn't obedience. Sometimes it's a secret shortcut to get what you want, rather than what God wants. Let your strategy go; surrender your selfish strategies to the Lord. Joseph's tribe had the upper hand, and instead of walking in full trust, they chose a shortcut. And shortcuts in faith always leave doors open to the enemy. So here's the question(s): What deal have you made with sin? What obedience have you postponed because partial surrender felt "close enough"? Today is your chance to go all in. Don't let a Luz live on just because it made your life easier for a moment. ASK THIS: Where have I obeyed God only halfway? What deals have I made that compromise long-term faithfulness? How has a shortcut in my past led to struggle today? What does full obedience require of me now? DO THIS: Name one area where you've been cutting corners spiritually—and commit today to close the gap with full obedience. PRAY THIS: Lord, I don't want to win battles while losing trust. Show me where I've made deals with sin, and give me courage to obey You completely. Amen PLAY THIS: "Lord I Need You."

(2:00) Early nutrition guidelines were established by Seventh-day Adventists to eliminate the eating of meat. The facts are lined up and vetted in FAT: a documentary. (6:30) Vinnie curates knowledge of other experts on his show. (11:30) Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has caused some disruption to the messaging; however, as long as Big Pharma and Big Food are allowed to lobby, there won't likely be much change. Lobbying affects both sides of the aisle, and changes have not been made. (18:00) It's part of what has been driving the decrease in metabolic health of our society. (20:00) Being a registered dietician is a challenge; positions in hospitals and schools pay less than half of what Big Food will pay. (22:00) Vinnie shares the story (and misconception) behind “fat burns in the flames of carbohydrates.” (28:00) Michelle shares her story of how she discovered what she had learned was wrong. (34:00) Her health had deteriorated, and she became very ill. It was when she learned about low-carb that she regained her health. Vinnie shares how he figured out how to fuel himself with fat for his ultra races. (40:00) Michelle is a marathon runner and made discoveries of her own, including high-fat/low-carb to fuel her body. (45:00) The Downsides of Shortcuts GLP-1s are all the rage, but nothing in biochemistry is free of consequences. (51:00) You can't affect any one issue in isolation. There are downsides to shortcuts. The side effects are a serious concern. Suppressing ghrelin can suppress hunger, but that means it also suppresses autophagy, which is your body's way of cleaning toxins from its cells. (52:00) They discuss other implications associated with GLP-1s, like loss of muscle tissue. Michelle and Vinnie have both helped numerous people just through the low-carb lifestyle approach alone. (57:00) Those changes alone have gotten people off certain medications and reversed diabetes.
