Last we left off, the Mercs 4 Hire were finalizing their plan to hunt down the elusive ship know as the Morkoth. Upon deciding the best course was to use all their resources, they hired a ship through the Harpers and brought along their new dragon friend, Felgolos. Upon arriving at the general area the ship was said to be hiding in the group split up, covering more ground to find their quarry. Before long the Morkoth was sighted and the group quickly converged on the enemy. After a drawn out battle, the crew was dispatched. Hekaton was freed and quickly calmed by Siren, lest he sink the ship himself in his rage at being held prisoner. Another captive was also uncovered, Siren's father, the Silver Tongue. After taking an hour to rest and for peanut to re-atune to the conch of teleportation. The group felt something hit the ship with enough force to shake it. They watch in horror as tentacles large enough to encircle the boat slowly started to pull the ship under the waves. Acting fast, Peanut teleported everyone back to Maelstrom, where we rejoin our heroes as they tumble to the floor in a heap... A huge shoutout to Nick Black who made our new intro jingle. Idea: A gritty, realistic, HBO-style drama about an amoral social expert/negotiator/facilitator who works on contract to help solve problems for people or organizations, such as facilitating illegal commerce, helping a president avoid a scandal, helping someone get a date, etc. Also: avoiding the hacky network TV "genius protagonist" procedural format ("Lie to Me", "The Pretender", "Numb3rs", etc.) where the main character is too smart/powerful or making the main character's skill(s) relevant to each episode/plotline stretches believability; a backstory in which the main character honed his social skills in the mob but then the mob dissolved and so he went solo; the main character is like James Bond making witty comments at the Baccarat table but then there's no gunfight and everyone just peacefully walks away (like a Bond movie made in a world where movie violence isn't allowed); maybe the main character has almost supernatural social skills but can't get along with his family and repeatedly bombs at standup comedy open mics Niko Lukoff (linktr.ee/LaughYourLukoff) Justin Hicks (facebook.com/justin.hicks.92798) Skippy Rose (instagram.com/skippyrosecomedy youtube.com/@SkippyRoseComedy) Tom Walma (https://creativitywasted.com twitter.com/thomaswalma twitch.tv/gameymcfitness) This podcast is part of Planet Ant Podcasts (https://planetant.com) This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

The most beautiful sourdough crackers you will ever SEE and EAT!!! I love reviewing FOOD because I get to pig out in the name of research. I also love a brand with a great back story. After being made redundant from her role in the building industry at the commencement of lock down, Kristina decided to fire up the family sourdough starter that sat in her fridge, laying dormant just waiting to come back to life.... Kristina started baking old family sourdough recipes originating from her Croatian heritage. Obsessed with perfecting these baking techniques taught to her by master bakers within the family, she adapted them to showcase her own take on flavours and style. Within weeks, Kristina's partner Andy was sharing the many sourdough delicacies such as breads, croissants, and her now famous organic sourdough crackers, with his work colleagues just so there was no food wasted. This continued until Andy was confronted by his team mates stating they were not going to take any more food unless Kristina would accept payment and could they please have a menu to choose from! And from that my friends Silver Tongue Foods was created! Get some for yourself HERE

En el programa de hoy recuperamos un tema que ya iniciamos en nuestra primera temporada, las caras B, temas en su mayoría de culto, favoritos de los fans, que bien merecían un hueco en alguno de los álbumes oficiales. In today's episode, the guys discuss Charles Spurgeon. For those listeners who are unfamiliar, Spurgeon was an extraordinary preacher and human who was radically gifted by God. He was born in England in 1834 and called the “prince of preachers” and “Silver Tongue”. We are reminded that, without idolatry, it is great to have heroes in the faith. Spurgeon really took to heart what it meant to commune with God. His early death at age 57 is a reminder that God does not need anybody, and we are all indispensable regardless of our gifts. Spurgeon gave his first sermon in 1850 and joined a layman group shortly after, with whom he traveled to nearby towns to preach. He was asked to become the preacher of Waterbeach Baptist Church before becoming the pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle. He was not formally educated, nor did he attend Bible college. People know Spurgeon primarily for his preaching, and secondarily for his commentaries and devotionals. Most people, however, don't know that he was an incredible pastor. Sturgeon was at the Metropolitan Tabernacle during the heart of the Industrial Revolution. When many other churches decided to leave the city and head to the suburbs, Spurgeon and the elders of the Tabernacle decided to stay in London and saw the opportunity to spread the gospel. They began over 60 organizations for those in need throughout the city. Spurgeon was filled with light and joy, but also suffered from deep depression as a result of a personal tragedy, illness and stress. He believed that Chrisitan ministers should expect a special degree of suffering to be given to them as a way of forming them for Christ-like, compassionate ministry. He said, “Many men owe the grandeur of their lives to their tremendous difficulties. There are some of your graces which would never be discovered if it were not for the trials in whom we experience.” A large takeaway of this discussion is the power of the written word. In closing, we are reminded that there is power in passing on truth and power in the example of a man whose life was surrendered to the Lord wholly and completely. Thanks for listening! Episode 31 of Season 5 went out live on Rebel Rock radio on 4 August 2022. This show is as unprepared as it gets, let's see what happens. We kicked off with Bad Company and ‘Rock ‘n' Roll Fantasy, then into Dave Hause off one of my favourite albums of all time titled 'Bury Me In Philly'. The track we played was called ‘The Flinch'. From there we sped it up a bit with ‘Speed Demon' from Keel, by now I was hating what I had in the playlist and desperately looking for a way out. By request, we took in some of Australia's finest in the form of James Reyne and Cold Chisel with ‘Fall of Rome' and ‘When the War is Over' respectively. The Cold Chisel track should cause some piloerection, the first two verses sung by guitarist Ian Moss and then the sheer power of Jimmy Barnes taking over from verse three. I love the way Barnsey does this, standing back and letting someone else have a go just increases the magnificence of his voice. It's the contrast that does it, and then of course Don Walker on piano. This week's Rock Review featured Rush and the last track 'The Wreckers' cut off violently due to the time slot allocated so to make amends and also by request we listened to it in its awesome entirety. Things by now were picking up with some very special people tuned in. We checked out a band called Ignite and another called Windowpane, two relatively unknown bands making some awesome music. Next, we popped over to Germany for some Rammstein and some Accept. We checked some new stuff from Alter Bridge off their forthcoming album Pawns and Kings, the track was called 'Silver Tongue' and we also listened to 'Times Like These' off the brand new Five Finger Death Punch release Afterlife. A couple of Alices' in the form of Alice in Chains and Alice Cooper were followed by classic 80's metal from Van Halen and ACDC. We wound it down with four South African bands, starting with a request for Kobus! with Kultuurfeestent and then Jack Hammer, The Black Cat Bones, and L.A. Cobra. The Bones in particular sounded amazing with their cover of Bob Dylan's ‘I Shall be Released. We stayed mellow and wound down this very random show with some Black Stone Cherry off the Kentucky album and Kid Rock with ‘Don't Quit' off his latest album released earlier this year titled Bad Reputation. Artists featured: Bad Company, Dave Hause, Desperado, Keel, Danko Jones, James Reyne, Cold Chisel, Destruction, Thundermother, The Gaslight Anthem, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Rory Gallagher, Ignite, Windowpane, Rammstein, Accept, Alter Bridge, Five Finger Death Punch, Audioslave, Alice in Chains, Alice Cooper, Virgin Steele, ACDC, Van Halen, Candlebox, Kiss, David Bowie, Kobus!, Jack Hammer, The Black Cat Bones, L.A. Cobra, Bruce Dickinson, Black Stone Cherry, Kid Rock

Mackenzie Scott (aka Torres) likes a good juxtaposition. Her music is a tightrope act between vulnerability and violence. Scott's lyrics often reflect introspection over a backdrop of angular, explosive guitar sounds, and those lyrics and her imagery combat the standard gender tropes by deconstructing their longstanding definitions and re-empowering them for all people. (Look no further than the cover of Torres' latest album, Thirstier, to see her take on the "classic" guitar pose.) Even her playing style is at odds with itself. "I prefer fingerpicking. I like playing really crunchy, loud, aggressive stuff in the styling of a classical player. And when it comes time to play big power chords, honestly, I just make my fingers bleed," she says. Those divergent personalities and approaches result in singular musical snapshots rather than a predictable path through each performance, song, and album. Sprinter, from 2015, was angsty, urgent, and erratic. And 2017's Three Futures stripped back the guitar barrage for an electronic bent, centered around stark beats and cold synths. Last year's self-produced Silver Tongue twisted the previous albums' makeup into an unusual two-step that often made the guitars pretty and the synths wicked. (Don't worry, guitar loyalists. There's still some 6-string fire.) And now Thirstier is a concise blast of catchy, power pop numbers that are heavier and shinier. Out in support of her new album, Torres' October 14 Nashville show had her headlining the Exit/In. Before soundcheck Scott introduced PG to her Tele companions, explained why she'd rather play with bloody fingers than use a pick, and showed how seven stomps cover all the shades of traditional rock guitar and much more. Once again we offer a look at how to break out of tired tropes: this time with the Bard. Internet memes would have you believe that these characters only reason to exist is to seduce everything they come in contact with. So we want to go a different direction with this build, what if our bard is really very good at preaching and has found a home within religion -- and not just one religion. In fact, he's talked his way into every religion in town. The acolyte background affords shelter to PCs who share the same religion as a temple or church they find...but what if a College of Eloquence Bard, with their Silver Tongue, convinces those who run the temple or church that he is, in fact, a priest within their religion (even if he's really not). Well, then it's healing for all his friends and a modest lifestyle for our bard. The trick is simply not to forget whcih religious ceremonies he needs to perform each day. Our case this episode involves very graphic and disturbing information. We hope that listeners will use discretion while listening. In the summer of 1990, the nightlife in the greater Seattle area was hot. Police would be run ragged when a string breaking and entering and theft crimes begin to be reported in several neighborhoods. Then, 3 women are violently murdered within weeks of one another and the connection is almost overlooked leaving a killer on the loose. That killer was George Waterfield Russell, Jr. George was as gifted a con artist as you might ever meet. From his pre-teen years on Mercer Island, until he was arrested at the age of 32, his criminal activity as a thief and burglar was constant. It wasn’t always about the crime, it was about getting away with it. But he always had a story and a smile to work his way out of trouble. George was the man on the scene in Bellevue, Washington in the early 90’s; he was truly in his element. He was everywhere and nowhere all at once. It wouldn’t take long before his life of petty crime would progress into some of the most horrific murders to this day in the Pacific NorthWest. Join us this episode as we discuss the murders of Mary Ann Pohlreich, Carol Beethe and Andrea Lavine and their sociopathic killer, George Russell, Jr.Some information from this episode:Murderpedia page:https://murderpedia.org/male.R/r/russell-george-waterfield.htmInvestigation Discovery- *audio used in intro*“Dead of Night: Nightclub Nightmare”- aired April 2, 2013https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/tv-shows/dead-of-night-2013How Carol Beethe was found:https://archive.seattletimes.com/archive/?date=19910926&slug=1307567Old Newspaper Articles-Moscow-Pullman Daily News:https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=4dctAAAAIBAJ&sjid=sdAFAAAAIBAJ&pg=6288%2C489204The Spokesman-Review:https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=FkQzAAAAIBAJ&sjid=BvADAAAAIBAJ&pg=3442%2C2731676Charmer: A Ladies Man and His Victims by Jack Olsenhttps://www.amazon.com/Charmer-True-Story-Ladies-Victims/dp/0380716011/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=charmer+a+ladies+man+and+his+victims&qid=1606866329&s=books&sr=1-2
Be careful. Two chill bros chill out hard in this eppy, and totally wax spiritual, man. They get straight up lifted and...this is Matt, and I haven't really done any drugs and don't know what I'm doing. Anyways, here's a great chat between Alec and TgWelch. Mackenzie Scott has made ever-evolving pop throughout the 2010’s as TORRES. Raised in Bible-belt Georgia, she learned to sing and play the guitar in front of the residents of a senior citizens center. Building on her 2015 self-described “space cowboy record,” her latest, Silver Tongue, is an album about being in love, and one where she embraces both her love of Gregorian chant and country music (and her inner "redneck alien" - Vinyl Me Please.) The silver-tongued guitarist, songwriter and producer Torres plays some of these new songs, in-studio. Watch the session here:

As Iorek makes his way across the ice, Lyra waits impatiently for him to arrive at the palace in Svalbard. The bears prepare the combat ground with great care and ceremony and Lyra watches as they give the same attention to Iofur Raknison. Lyra feels sick when she realizes that Iorek will have had neither food nor rest for the last 24 hours, and fears that she is unknowingly leading him to his death. When Iorek arrives at the palace, Iofur allows Lyra some time to speak with Iorek to encourage him to fight. Lyra quickly explains the urgency of the situation to Iorek. Impressed that Lyra was able to trick Iofur, Iorek gives her a new nickname: Lyra Silvertongue. Iofur and Iorek fight a long, brutal battle. Iorek feigns an injury to his paw causing Iofur to let his guard down. Seeing this, Iorek makes his move, killing Iofur. Iorek is victorious and is restored to his place as the true king of the bears. He takes Lyra to a safe place where he has hidden Roger where they are reunited. After learning the fate of Lee Scoresby and the witches, Roger, Iorek, and Lyra go to the fortress where Lord Asriel is being held captive and where he continues to do experiments with Dust. When they arrive at his room, Lord Asriel panics when he sees Lyra but calms a bit when he sees that Roger is there with her. She tells Lord Asriel she knows he is her father and demands that he tell her the truth about Dust. Lord Asriel tells Lyra that Dust is what makes the alethiometer work. He tells her the story of Adam and Eve and explains that Dust is another word for original sin, or Adam and Eve's knowledge of themselves. He tells Lyra Mrs. Coulter thinks that cutting children's daemons away might keep children free from sin. Lord Asriel realizes that when daemons are cut away, a great burst of energy is released and believes that enough energy is released to create a doorway to another universe beyond the Aurora. Lyra tries to give Lord Asriel the alethiometer, but he refuses it. Utterly bewildered, Lyra sits speechless by the fire as she watches Lord Asriel leave the room.
Flying high above the frozen tundra, Lyra sleeps peacefully as Lee Scoresby and Serafina Pekkala discuss the girl's destiny and what it might mean for all involved. When she awakens, Lyra and Serafina talk for a long time about the nature of witches, her relationship with Farder Coram, the Church's connection to Dust, and daemons. Serafina tells her that she doesn't know why humans have daemons but she knows it is what separates humans from animals. Lyra muses about Iorek and his armor; she learns that although he is exiled, Iorek is the rightful king of the panserbjorne and the new king, named Iofur Raknison, is clever in a human way. Flying past mountains covered by a thick fog, the balloon is suddenly attacked by cliff ghasts, causing it to lerch and drop violently. Lyra is thrown from the balloon and lands in a large snow-drift, where she is discovered by armored bears. The bears bring her to Svalbard, once grand and majestic but now filthy and appalling, and throw her in the dungeon. Here she meets an old professor from Gloucester. He tells Lyra that Iofur Raknison is infatuated with Mrs. Coulter and would do anything for her, but that he is playing both sides of the game: isolating Lord Asriel to please Mrs. Coulter while still providing him with all the equipment he needs to continue his work. Lyra wants to force Iofur to fight Iorek so he can reclaim his kingdom. But Iofur won't fight Iorek because it would be undignified for the king to fight an exile. In the dungeon, Lyra remembers hearing that Iofur Raknison wanted a daemon, just like a human. Lyra manipulates the guards into getting her a private audience with the king. Using the alethiometer, Lyra convinces Iofur that she is Iorek's daemon. She says that if Iofur fights Iorek and wins, Lyra would become Iofur's daemon instead. Iofur agrees; in an effort to protect Iorek, Lyra suggests Iofur tell the bears that he called Iorek back to fight so they do not kill him on the spot when he enters Svalbard. With Iorek only four hours away, the bears prepare the battle grounds while Lyra waits for him to rescue her.

On this episode, I (Matthew) got to sit down and do Talk Matters' first face to face interview with Dave Deitke! We reminisced about being in a band in high school, being in bands in general, musical influences, and music therapy. Dave's a really great guy and I can't thank him enough for taking the time to come on the podcast and chat. Talk Matters doesn't own the rights to the intro song by Dave Deitke's band "C-level" and the outro song is called "Silvertongue" by Young The Giant. Enjoy! -TM
We introduce the re:verb podcast, its hosts (Calvin Pollak and Alex Helberg), and we explain the project's genealogy as a descendant of The Silver Tongue, a rhetorical criticism blog founded by Doug Cloud, Hilary Franklin, Alexis Teagarden and Matt Zebrowski in 2010. We talk to Silver Tongue co-founder Doug Cloud -- now an Assistant Professor of English at Colorado State University -- about rhetoric, public engagement, and the benefits of topical eclecticism in humanities research. Then, co-hosts Calvin and Alex have a free-wheeling conversation with re:verb Web Editor Ana Cooke and PR & Social Media Editor Ryan Mitchell about the humanities and STEM, enacting the kinds of lenses/approaches we hope to bring to public issues on the show going forward.Works and concepts cited in this episode:Carr, Nicholas. Caroline hosts Kirtan artist Krishna Das, devotional, longtime student of Tibetan dzogchen. “Hailed as yoga's “rock star,” Krishna Das put sacred Sanskrit mantras on the music map.” Alan Di Perna, Grammy.com (and seguing at the end of show to “Lilt” performing “Waterbound” as homage to the Louisiana floods) krishnadas.com The post The Visionary Activist Show – Finding the Silver Tongue of calm, rip-tide of Reverent Reverie, in the midst of the rapids appeared first on KPFA.
Let the first annual Smash Fiction Hunger Games commence! First, from the land of Westeros (where the high lords play their game of thrones), making up for the fact that she's probably too young for this contest by being a psychopathic murderer, Arya "No One" Stark! Next, from Oxford (or one of the Oxfords, at least, given the whole "Almighty Maker ordaining his dark materials to create more worlds" thing), armed with a golden compass and a sassy soul-sidekick, Lyra "Silvertongue" Belacqua! Transporting in from the 24th century (the next generation having been greatly enhanced by numerous treks through the stars, if you will), you either love to hate him or you just hate him, it's "Shut Up" Wesley Crusher! And finally, from California (or something), Her Immortal Majesty, Hannah "Totally Not Miley Stewart" Montana! Yes, you read that right. Dan and Miles use the same opening strategy, Colin makes judicious use of aluminum cans, and Liz Logan is advocating for Hannah Montana, in the Hunger Games. What else do you need to know? This episode is batshit insane and might just knock the entire podcast spinning right off the rails. Enjoy.
A lawyer, a host, and a comedian use their ‘Silver Tongue’ to speak truth into action. This episode they discuss Alton Sterling’s death at the hands of police officers; President Obama’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton; Marvel’s introduction of a new 15 year African-American female ‘Iron Man’; and Ciara and Russell Wilson get married. If you consider yourself a conversational mixologist, then hit play, until the bartender cuts you off. This week, Sono and Ammit discuss the power of words and the importance of spin. If time allows, we have a bonus topic, so let’s see if we can get to it! This episode we forgo our usual structure of breaking down Crystal into two linear blocks of discussion we call the Meat and Veggies … Continue reading Legendary Silver Tongue- Sailor Moon Crystal 22 -MS 20
