Shallow and quickly outdated Christian worship practices have left many searching for something with deeper roots. Many churches have rediscovered the importance of the sacraments, particularly the Lord's Supper. The number of churches that are observing more frequent communion continues to grow. What's lacking is guidance from the past on this issue. How did infrequent communion become a "tradition" in so many churches? What historical, political, and theological factors were involved? As one of the leading evangelical pastors and scholars of the late eighteenth century, John Brown of Haddington has much to teach. Not satisfied with the practice of his own Scottish Reformed tradition, Brown left a manuscript advocating more frequent communion among his papers after his death. It was published in 1804 but has remained inaccessible to a large audience until now.  Dr. Gregory Soderberg used Brown as one of his sources in his doctoral study of communion frequency in the Reformed tradition, which was the first full-length, scholarly treatment of the subject. Although Brown wrote for his own time, his arguments are still relevant. In John Brown of Haddington on Frequent Communion (Wipf & Stock, 2024), readers will find a brilliant mind engaging the issue of communion frequency with wit and erudition. In this episode of Kliq This, titled "Promos in Front of no Crowd," Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver dive into the unique challenges and creativity required for professional wrestling promos performed without a live audience. They explore how wrestlers adapt their delivery, energy, and engagement in the absence of crowd reactions, focusing on the psychological and performance aspects that go into making these promos effective. The hosts reminisce about their experiences and observations from various promotions, discussing how different wrestlers and companies have handled this situation, especially during the pandemic era. They highlight the differences between traditional promos in front of a roaring crowd and the more intimate, often experimental nature of promos done in empty arenas. Throughout the conversation, Nash and Oliver emphasize the importance of maintaining authenticity and emotional connection, even when the usual feedback loop from the audience is missing. They also touch upon the technical aspects, such as camera work and production choices, that can enhance or detract from the impact of these promos. Listen to Nash and Oliver as they bring their straightforward and engaging style to this discussion, offering insights into the evolving landscape of wrestling entertainment and the creative adaptability of its performers. Clonmacnoise was among the busiest, most economically complex, and intensely sacred places in early medieval Ireland. In Animals and Sacred Bodies in Early Medieval Ireland: Religion and Urbanism at Clonmacnoise (Lexington Books, 2021), John Soderberg argues that animals are the key to understanding Clonmacnoise's development as a thriving settlement and a sacred space. At this sanctuary city on the River Shannon, animal bodies were an essential source of food and raw materials. They were also depicted extensively on religious objects. Drawing from new theories about the intersections between religion and economics, John Soderberg explores how transformations emerging from animal encounters made Clonmacnoise a sacred settlement and created the sacred bodies of early medieval Ireland.  Dr. John Soderberg is an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Denison University and holds his degrees from Middlebury College, Boston College (MA), and the University of Minnesota (PhD). He has excavated sites in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. His main research interest is the archaeology of religion, with a focus on the development of large religious centers in Ireland from the Iron Age into the Middle Ages. Other interests include the development of cities, medieval Northern Europe, zooarchaeology, and three-dimensional scanning of artifacts. "Captivus", a green film was made with sets built from recycled items from dumps around Boston and played at prestigious film festivals including Cannes, NY, SIFF and more receiving rave reviews from industry trend-setting websites like film threat, Fangoria, and Film school rejects. In 2016 Tebo wrote an indie genre thriller that caught the eye of producer Sean Mckittrick (get out, Blackkklansman) who produced said first film. Made for only $400,000 (us) - "Happy Birthday" was bought and released by Orion / MGM. From Bloody Disgusting: "Tebo's first feature film, is one of these rare cinematic gifts, wrapped in the guise of a standard Mexico- based thriller."In 2018 - Tebo shot, directed and edited a feature documentary about his relationship with legendary rock star Steven Tyler, for - Steven Tyler Out on a Limb (2018) (producer Todd Thompson).
