Afro-Sweden? Who knew? Over the past 60 years, a number of musicians from Africa and its diaspora have come to base themselves, or have been born, in Sweden. And recently, they have emerged as a collective voice in Swedish society. From the acoustic Mande folk of Sousou and Maher Cissoko, to the kaleidoscopic hip-hop of Timbuktu, and the smooth soul-pop of Swedish-born, Gambian-descended Seinabo Sey, there’s definitely something happening in Scandinavia. On this program we speak with and hear recent music from a wide range of African and diasporic artists in Sweden, and get context from ethnomusicologist Ryan Skinner, who has immersed himself deeply in the Afro-Swedish scene for the past 15 years. Kora är från början ett västafrikanskt stränginstrument som är släkt med lutan och harpan. Den består av en kalebasshalva som är täckt med koskinn och har 21 strängar på sin långa hals. Sousou Cissoko är en av världens få kvinnliga koraspelare. Hon började spela kora som 19-åring i uppväxtens Skåne medan Maher Cissoko kommer från en känd korafamilj i Senegal och har spelat kora sedan han var i 6-årsåldern. Tillsammans är de ett par moderna jalis, även kallade grioter vilka ursprungligen är musikaliska historieberättare i det västafrikanska mandinkafolket. Deras vision är att belysa kulturlikheter snarare än kulturskillnader med sin gränsöverskridande musik. I programmet berättar Maher Cissoko om den humanism och människokärlek han vill uttrycka med sina sånger. Han skildrar även hur han jagas och arresteras av polis enbart på grund av sin hudfärg. Sousou Cissoko talar om kulturell appropiering och exotisering. Hon har musikworkshop med kvinnor i Gambia och sjunger en stark sång om hur hon försöker skydda sina barn mot rasism. 2001年，在日本冲绳，一个名叫新垣洋太郎（妻夫木聪饰）的年轻人抱着将来开一家属于自己的小餐馆的梦想正专心一意地工作着——今天也要精神满满地完成运送食材的兼职。洋太郎的性格就像冲绳的晴空一样爽朗宽厚，不过今天他比往常更加活跃更加精神，一边工作还一边不住傻傻地笑。那是因为他比任何人都重要的妹妹薰（长泽雅美饰）考上了高中，终于从寄住的婶婶家回来了。——在洋太郎八岁的时候，洋太郎的生母光江（小泉今日子饰）和薰的爸爸再婚，薰就成了洋太郎的妹妹。可是，随着父亲的人间蒸发、母亲光江也因病去世，只剩下年幼的兄妹俩。从那以后，洋太郎便一直紧记着母亲的遗言“薰已经没有任何亲人了，无论发生什么事你都要保护她。”并且也都是那样做的。——而也是从今天起，兄妹二人在洋太郎的公寓里开始了一起生活的日子。到码头去迎接薰的洋太郎在久别重逢之前怎样也平静不下来，看到这样的洋太郎，满脸带笑的薰用力向洋太郎挥动双手。她那思念哥哥的纯真神情一点也没有改变，却增添了一份十六岁的美丽，这让洋太郎十分吃惊。 过了一段时间，洋太郎终于存够了钱，开了一家梦寐以求的小酒馆。当他还沉浸在开店的喜悦时却遭到了欺诈并因此而背负了一大笔债务。接着还跟到访的女朋友——医大学生惠子（麻生久美子饰）分了手。而洋太郎和薰之间最终还是产生了微妙的感情，两人对于各自藏不住的心意都十分不知所措。后来，薰借着考上大学的契机，告知哥哥她决定离开哥哥的家，过自立的日子。自此两人均隐藏着自己的感情不见对方一面。 就这样过了一年半，两人在一个台风的夜里再会了。可是就在这时，仅属于他们两人的短暂的兄妹情份宣告结束......

Under några dagar besöker musikjournalisten Åsa Veghed musikstaden Addis Abeba. Det har resulterat i den tre timmar långa dokumentärserien "Musikresa Etiopien". – När jag sitter i Selam-studion i Addis Abeba knackar det på dörren och världsstjärnan Alpha Blondy kliver in, berättar Åsa Veghed. Och de svenska kopplingarna till musikstaden Addis är ytterst påtagliga och fruktsamma, främst via den svensk-afrikanska världsmusikorganisationen Selam. Åsa Vegheds P2 Dokumentär blir en personlig resa i den moderna etiopiska musiken. Från musikmässan Womex i Grekland till Etiopiens huvudstad där hon träffar den svenske musikern och producenten Andreas Unge som tillsammans med Stefan Sundström byggt upp en musikstudio i Addis Abeba - Selam Studio med bl.a. SIDA som finansiär.  Helgen spenderas på Selamfestivalen i Ghion Parc, mitt i centrala Addis Abeba. Hon träffar artister från olika afrikanska länder, den svensk-etiopiske festivaldirektören Teshome Wondimu som också är musiker samt svenskarna Sousou och Maher Cissoko som uppträder inför etiopisk publik. Bland böneutrop, getter, barn och en massa koramusik, får vi historier berättade om jalikulturen och hur en svenska kom i kontakt med jalifamiljen och lärde sig spela kora. Från Bromma till Ziguinchor. Maher Cissoko är född till jali eller griot. Hans kända jalifamilj bor i Ziguinchor, Casamance i södra Senegal. Maher är gift med den svenska musikern Sousou Cissoko. Båda bor i Bromma, båda besöker släkten i Senegal, båda spelar kora, båda pratar wolof, båda är jali, eller hur är det nu, kan man vara jali utan att födas till det? Spelar kvinnor kora i Västafrika? Hur fungerar jaliyrket i ett modernt samhälle, som artist i Europa? Och hur var det att köra bil mellan Stockholm och Dakar? Två program av Åsa Veghed om västafrikansk musik

På lördag är det internationella Nolltaxedagen då resenärer världen över uppmanas att strunta i att betala på bussar, tunnelbana och spårvagnar. Anna Nygård från planka.nu får frågan om det inte är osolidariskt att planka och låta andra betala för kollektivtrafiken. Vad händer i Syrien? Oppositionen kämpar vidare mot den hårdföra regimen i Syrien. Men vad består motståndet av för grupper och vilka chanser har de att bygga ett fredligt demokratiskt land? Vår mellanösternkorrespondent Cecilia Uddén, Per Jönsson, redaktör på Utrikespolitiska institutet och Rima Haro, statsvetare med ursprung i Syrien kommer för att förklara sina bilder av läget. Av 70 konserter de senaste åren har Sofia Karlsson plockat ut 12 sånger som samlats på nya skivan "Levande". Albumet kommer ut den 21 september - då släpps också hennes nya notbok med flera av hennes sånger. "På en väg som alltid ledde hem" är Anders Persson och Carl Smiths andra album på svenska och består av nio sånger som endast kommer att släppas digitalt den 21 september.  Duon som är hemmahörande i Falun och Stockholm skivdebuterade 2008. En annan duo, Sousou & Maher Cissoko är även den aktuell med sitt andra album: "Stockholm-Dakar". Det är Sousou, uppvuxen i Skåne och Maher, från södra Senegal som lever tillsammans och gör musik ihop. På den nya skivan är det mestadels nyskrivet material där traditionell västafrikansk musik blandas med svensk musik och texter som handlar om kärlek och gemenskap. Felicia ringde upp Håkan Lahger, författare till nyutgivna boken "Dylan - en kärlekshistoria" för att få veta lite mer om hans förhållande till Bob Dylan och höra vilken Dylan-låt han sätter främst. The Waterboys sångare Mike Scott har förverkligat ett drömprojekt som han tänkt på länge. Nu har han valt ut och tonsatt 14 dikter av poeten W B Yeats. Resultatet finns på skivan "An appointment with Mr Yeats" . I veckans program får vi även ett smakprov på kommande skivan Cornelis vs Riedel samt en låt med gruppen Låt och Leklaget som i veckan gör sin sista spelning efter 30 år.
