En el Radar Empresarial de hoy analizamos las cuentas de Home Depot: el minorista registró ingresos de 39.900 millones de dólares, superando por 650 millones las previsiones del mercado. Sin embargo, su beneficio por acción también fue peor de lo esperado: se quedó en 3,56 dólares cuando el consenso de analistas esperaba 3 centavos más. Esta es una de las razones por las que sus títulos llegaron a perder más de medio punto en Bolsa aunque al cierre sus acciones subieron un 0,44%. Y es que donde no defraudó la compañía es en su ejercicio de ventas: Home Depot registró unas ventas de 39 850 millones de dólares, 3 mil millones de dólares más que en el mismo periodo del año anterior. Por eso, para Ted Decker, CEO de la compañía, “los resultados estuvieron en línea con las expectativas”. Si bien es cierto que es una compañía minorista referencia en Estados Unidos sus resultados cobran mucha más importancia para desgranar cuál es ha sido el gasto medio del consumidor en Estados Unidos, una forma de saber si el consumo ha aumentado o ha disminuido. Además, las cuentas de Home Depot cobran un significado mayor por el impacto de los aranceles. La semana pasada Walmart se convirtió en objetivo número uno de los ataques de Donald Trump después de que la compañía anunciara que subiría el precio por culpa de los aranceles. Ahora, Richard McPhail, director financiero de Home Depot, asegura a la CNBC que no subirán los precios por los gravámenes. Billy Bastek, vicepresidente ejecutivo, deja claro “si la fabricación de algunos productos no salen rentables, no los producirán en el futuro”. Y es que la clave para que la compañía aguante los efectos de la guerra comercial ha sido depender menos de la fabricación en países extranjeros. Home Depot lleva años reduciendo su dependencia de países como China. Algo que seguirán haciendo en el futuro. Billy Basket. Gracias a estos firmes propósitos la compañía es de las pocas que mantiene previsiones, gracias proyectos de mejora para el hogar y a los grandes resultados que le ha dado la adquisición de SRS Distribution. El 28 de marzo de 2024 completó la adquisición de SRS Distribution por 18 mil millones de dólares, una compañía que ofrece productos especializados para profesionales de techado, paisajismo y contratistas de piscinas. Con esta adquisición la compañía buscaba abrirse paso a los grandes pedidos en línea. Parece que la compra ha sido todo un éxito, ya que como indicó Richard McPhail, director financiero de la compañía, registró unos ingresos de 2600 millones de dólares.

I mean, being a CEO and being in charge of everything, the whole enterprise, you have to know what's your highest and best use of your time. And I've always been able to really stick to the strong points, that I had a good understanding of what's going to drive shareholder value creation, what's going to drive customer wins, what's going to drive supplier partnerships, what's going to drive growth.How private equity fueled SRS's remarkable growth12:49: Private equity gets a bad rap in a lot of worlds, and it's so unwarranted, in my opinion. Where else in the world can you just dream up an idea, build a team, go to a private equity partner if you don't have capital or come from a rich family, and go borrow the money or have them infuse your capital in your business to sell part of the company, and then they provide you enough capital to get as big as you could possibly be successfully? And we've done that. We started SRS with only 12 million dollars and bought the company SRS out of bankruptcy for 12 million dollars. The company we just sold to for $ 18.25 billion, we paid only 12 million dollars for just 16 years ago. And then made that much wealth creation because we had different great private equity sponsors for about five-year runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd phases.
