Please note: Like how Death Proof uses fake film grain to make it seem like it's an older movie, only to stop doing it halfway through, Laci and Matt's audio improves halfway through this episode. You might not even notice the audio isn't great in the first half... but if you do, just know it gets better eventually. Friend of the Show Cinema Chris joins Laci and Matt to talk about Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof (2007). Originally a 90-minute movie presented as part of a double feature alongside Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror, Death Proof now stands on its own (in an expanded edition) as one of the more fascinating entries in Tarantino's filmography. We discuss the beautiful animal that is Kurt Russell, Rose McGowan's captivating pronunciation of “chocolate milk,” and how much joy there is to be had in a car going vroom-vroom real fast. In honour of the release of his 9th Movie, we are counting down the TOP 10 Quentin Tarantino Movies. "How does that work or make sense?" we hear you ask! Well some of you may know, and others may not - which hey, is why the Silver Screen Dudes are here - that Tarantino has contributed, produced, introduced and written a vast array of other mesmeric projects which is why this podcast is here.Very few, if any, directors working today possess Tarantino's "je ne sais quoi", his pazzazz, and his style, his unrelenting ability to write catchy dialogue and his uncanny ability to challenge film conventions and reimagine the long-established. This list we hope pays some tribute to a blisteringly brilliant career.

Yep, here's our big Tarantino episode. First, we go long on Quentin Tarantino's fascinating "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." Honestly, we could have talked even longer. Then we, because it's the law, each give our Top 10 Tarantino Movies. They're different, but not as different as we thought. And if that weren't enough ... then, in our Reboot segment, we talk about a little movie called "The Shining." Kubrick! It's, uh, a packed show. Timestamps (approximate): 8:38 "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" 59:11 "The Shining" Thanks to Dylan Mayer and My Friend Mary, both of which are wonderful, for the music. We hope you enjoy. The dramatic Season 1 finale!
Two scaly detectives pierce through the dark city streets - visible only by slight traces of light from neon signs overhead - cutting through the blackness of the night and the cold of the falling rain. Their clawed heels click against the rain-slick pavement. They approach an adjacent alleyway and reveal their badges to a world-weary officer standing guard as he allows them through the oppressive wall of police tape. At the alley's end, the chief of police can be seen standing over what appears to be a dead body. "What've we got?", one of the detectives asks, breaking the silence. "Raptors", the chief says in address, with a detectable hint of disdain. "Are you two *sure* this is your jurisdiction?" "Wouldn't be here if it weren't. This is our case now. So I'll ask again: What've we got?" "Victim is a small, red monster. No visible signs of trauma, blood, or struggle". "Has anybody bothered to search the body for evidence? Clues?", inquired the detectives in a strange unison. The chief throws up his hands in sarcastic defense. "Didn't want to tamper with the crime scene just yet . Heh - throw a meteor at the situation, so to speak." Awkward silence falls as the raptor detectives exchange glances. "Dinosaur joke." The chief goes silent, knowing his bad joke fell flat. "So are you guys like a cooky kinda dinosaur hivemind, or...?" They ignore him and approach the corpse. They make immediate note of an oddity: his furry, adorable hand has something in its grip. A note. Fumbling with their raptor claws, the detectives sloppily manage to unravel the parchment. On it was written four, ominous words: "Come on and slam". Discussed: Broken Left 4 Dead continues to surprise and amaze, culminating in a gripping tale of velociraptor detectives investigating a murdered Elmo. DuckTales (woo-oo). Seth finally plays Undertale, much to the chagrin of Todd's closed mind. Subsurface Circular. Todd finally closes the book on Nier: Automata -- at least for now. Seth ranks the catalogue of Quentin Tarantino movies. What we've been up to - 1:11 Todd's topic, "Nier: Automata Postmortem" - 26:36 Seth's topic, "Ranking the Tarantino Movies" - 35:46
