Mark and Michelle dive into your most sought after questions, and answer questions ranging from 'two languages and two religions', all the way to officiating 'non religious weddings'. Listen in and get ready to learn! Question #1: I have a question regarding losing trust in a wedding vendor, specifically my wedding planner. There have been a handful of communication issues between myself and our wedding planner that have caused me to doubt our selection in wedding planners. Can anything be done at this point? Our wedding is in 7 months, and we do really like our planner personality wise and vibe well enough, but I really need these communication issues to be fixed. I'm paying for full planning services and feel I shouldn't have this anxiety of needing to check my planner's progress or follow up on things. We've already brought it up once a few months back, so bringing it up again will be the 2nd time. Is it too much for me to ask to be copied on emails she sends to our vendors regarding our wedding? Answer #1: It sounds absolutely necessary to need to bring this up a second time. The planner is supposed to help relieve stress and planning weight from the couple, not cause more. There is NO reason you should not receive a response of some kind within 24 hours, even if the response is just them saying they will get back to you. It sounds like this planner has taken on more than they can chew. Be straight forward with your needs to them, in a tactful way. Email them to set up an appointment, and talk about these needs with them in person. Express your feelings and needs. Question #2: Ceremony readings that aren't religious? Also, ideas for a unity ceremony that aren't super cheesy or overdone (like the sand mixing)? Answer #2: Mark doesn't love readings at a ceremony. A bit boring. Any reading should come from you, a book that you love, a poem that means something to the two of you, song lyrics. A new trend is mixing a cocktail they couple loves and taking the shot. It's fun and fresh! Scottish Quaich is a fun one. A bowl w/ 2 handles and whiskey - Google it Unity ceremonies hand-fasting, sand ceremony, unity candles, don't have to be cheesy or boring if explained in the right way. Question #3: I'm using Unboring wedding academy and my moms best friends are our officiants. Having 2 officiants instead of just 1? Any advice or tricks? Answer #3: Naturally choose a section for each officiant to read, how you met, the first date, the proposal, vows, ring exchange - each step forward to the mic for each section Question #4: I'm not changing my name so at the end of the ceremony what should they say instead of “the new mr and mrs. blank”? Answer #4: First name and First name as “husband and wife” or whatever title you are more comfortable. Maybe name and name are married! Question #5: Considering asking a friend to be an officiant. How do we go about asking? Should we pay for their certification/license? Answer #5: Bring the to dinner, drinks, ask them. Keep it simple. Also some great Tik Tok videos on fun ways to do this. Yes, you should definitely at least cover their costs to be your officiant. You should definitely check out Mark's digital course Unboring! Wedding Academy Question #6: How to go about choosing an officiant when you're not a part of a church? Answer #6: Look online for a professional officiant or vendor list from your venue, or recommendations from friends or relatives Question #7: How to tell your parents that you don't want to use their pastor? Answer #7: Be firm. They need to hear this is not what you want for your wedding. Question #8: Ways to make the ceremony more personalized to you and your fiancé? Answer #8: A personable officiant that personalizes your ceremony is the best. YOUR story is the key to this. Dating, proposal, what do you love about each other, what do others love about you? Question #9: Best way to incorporate 2 religions or 2 languages? Answer #9: 2 languages can be every word in equal time or certain sections in each language. Question #10: What suggestions do you have for an officiant in a ceremony with cultural elements that not all guests may be familiar with? (I.e. Chinese Tea Ceremony, jumping the broom, Filipino sponsors, Areas, etc.) Answer #10: If there are specific rituals involved, the officiant should explain it. The history, the cultural importance, what it means to the couple or the family. Explain what is happening next and why we are doing it. Question #11: What's a good thank you gift for your female officiant who is a friend? Answer #11: WHAT you gift is personal and up to you. Think about how much you would pay a professional and spend either as much or close to it if possible. Everyone loves a good gift card! Question #12: What should your officiant wear? Answer #12: Dress classic. Suit is great for ANYONE. A nice dress. Not flashy, never outshine the couple. Colors should not clash with the wedding florals Question #13: When/how do they enter the ceremony? Answer #13: Mark's fave. Enter before the processional and address the guests and make any announcements OR enter with the Groomsmen prior to the main processional. Question #14: How does an officiant approach “housekeeping details” like asking everyone to silence their phones or to stick around for a group photo when the couple recesses down the aisle, etc Answer #14: Say it right before the processional starts Question #15: Where is the best place to fit a handfasting ceremony into the larger wedding ceremony? Answer #15: Usually after the vows and before the ring exchange. The couple will need to get their hands out easily to do the ring exchange, so tie the ribbon loose. Some people like it tied tight, so they do it after the ring exchange and keep hands tied during the kiss and then you untie. Question #16: My officiant said he doesn't come to the rehearsal!! What do we do? Answer #16: This is not ideal, but... If you have a planner or month of coordinator, that person will run the rehearsal. If you don't have a planner, then you or someone else will need to run the rehearsal. Guest : Andrew Thompson, freelance writer for Business Insider The coronavirus pandemic is devastating restaurants around the world. And South Africa’s hard lockdown has forced restaurants into the takeaway and delivery space - even those whose owners might once have chortled at the very thought. The takeaway market is one traditionally reserved for food that travels well. But worldwide this is a trend that’s starting to shift. In the United States, a handful of Michelin star restaurants have started offering deliveries in order to stay afloat. Some restaurant suppliers are delivering delicacies, like caviar and live king crabs, direct to the public. And one of the fanciest restaurants in Seattle recently turned into a drive-through burger place. In South Africa, You can now order a 5-course meal from some of SA’s top restaurants – at cut-rate prices. But products with less than 0.5% alcohol - officially classified as alcohol-free in the Liquor Products Act - are still allowed. And a few, mainly in the craft sector, have been quick to capitalise.

The coronavirus has brought a big increase in the demand for wills as the spectre of death hangs over the world. In Australia, the demand for wills soared by 300% in March, according to one report. There has also been a sharp increase in the demand for wills in the United States, while the BBC reports of wills being signed on car bonnets and witnessed through windows as Brits rush to complete wills – while still complying with strict legal requirements. In South Africa, the demand for wills in South Africa has also increased, according to one of the country’s biggest wills and estates administration providers. Capital Legacy says that the virus has caused people to confront death in a way that’s spurring a demand for wills. To mitigate these dangers, world governments often provide funding, or subsidies, to agribusiness in order to lower risk and increase chances of farmers staying in business. Show #398. Can You Help Me Fight The Fossils? Read More About Patreon here EVne.ws/patreon Read today’s show notes on https://www.evnewsdaily.com Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Monday 25th February 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I could find today, and picked out the best ones to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Welcome to three new Patreon supporters. Hello to new PRODUCERS PIERRE MARASTI and PAUL COSMAN. And new EXECUTIVE PRODUCER JAMES STORR. ELECTRIC PEUGEOT e208 IN DETAIL: SPECS, IMAGES, VIDEOS "Peugeot released specs for the e-208, the first all-electric model for the brand, build on the eCMP platform. The public unveiling is scheduled for Geneva, but already today you can enjoy a gallery of stock images." reports Mark Kane for InsideEVs.com: "The 50 kWh battery provides 340 km (211 miles) of range under the WLTP test cycle and is covered by warranty for 8 years or 160 000 km for 70% of capacity. The electric motor is rated at 100 kW, which enables it to do 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.1 seconds. The brisk acceleration will be especially welcome in city driving at low speeds. 0-50 km/h takes just 2.8 seconds. There is also a handy three-phase on-board charger rated for 11 kW. The French manufacturer didn’t forget to add a heat pump to save as much range as possible in winter. Orders will be accepted from late summer 2019, while the launch is expected in the fall of 2019. The tag line is "Unboring the future". https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=74&v=2LhRl8wcBVE https://insideevs.com/electric-peugeot-e208-detail-specs-images-videos/ ZERO SR/F ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE UNVEILED "For the past month or so, Zero has been teasing a new addition to its lineup with only a few peeks at the silhouette and limited performance information to work with—teasing well done. The company has finally unveiled the new SR/F and we now know what Zero has been working on: the view from here is pretty nice!" says Sabrina for RideApart.com: "The new SR/F is using the same 14.4 kWh battery used in the high-end S and SR. What has changed is the electric motor—instead of the usual 7-centimeter rotor found in the current Zeros, the F receives a 10-centimeter unit, which results in a performance boost. In fact, both versions of the F (Standard and Premium) are rated at 110 horsepower and a top speed of 124 mph. the standard SR/F is expected to offer a combined range rated between 102 and 123 miles (depending on highway speed). Charging time is expected to hover between 4.5 hours for the entry-level model with 3 kW charger and 1.5 hour with the 6 kW fast charger. Pricing has been set at $18,995 for the Standard version. The Premium trim adds a screen, fast-charger, heated grips, and aluminum bar ends for an extra $2,000. This positions the new SR/F at the top of the line, over $2k above the SR." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25IkSwclpGA https://www.rideapart.com/articles/306810/zero-unveils-srf-sport-model/ BYD BREAKS GROUND ON NEW 20 GWH BATTERY PLANT IN CHINA InsideEVs reports: "BYD has broke ground on its new lithium-ion battery factory in Chongqing, one of China‘s traditional auto manufacturing hubs. The planned output is to be 20 GWh annually using eight fully-automated production lines. The first stage of the plant is expected to be completed within a year from now. In 2018 BYD sold about 227,152 plug-in electric cars, and 247,811 including buses/trucks, which means that the company will gain the potential to significantly increase production. And if you consider that in China, sales of plug-in electric cars are booming, then it seems certain BYD will need this extra capacity in the very near future." And Mark Kane has done some handy math: The 20 GWh of batteries is equivalent to: 200,000 all-electric cars with 100 kWh packs 400,000 all-electric cars with 50 kWh packs 800,000 plug-in hybrids cars with 25 kWh packs https://insideevs.com/byd-new-20-gwh-battery-plant-china/ THE PORSCHE MACAN IS GOING ELECTRIC "The Porsche Macan is Porsche’s best-selling vehicle, powered by an internal-combustion engine, a crossover that handles better than it has any right to. It will also be going electric soon, the Financial Times reports." reports Erik at Jalopnik: "The Porsche decision, which will be revealed next Tuesday by the group, shows the carmaker is serious about selling electric vehicles to a mass market. The all-electric Macan, a sport utility vehicle, will be produced in Leipzig early next decade, the company confirmed to the Financial Times. Chief executive Oliver Blume said Porsche was aiming for every second car it sold to be “electrified” — pure-electric or hybrid — by 2025, meaning that Porsche’s electric ramp-up is even more ambitious than its parent, the Volkswagen Group." https://jalopnik.com/the-porsche-macan-is-going-electric-1832867432 AUDI LAUNCHES PLUG-IN HYBRID Q5, A6, A7 AND A8 "Audi has revealed new plug-in versions of its Q5, A6, A7 and A8, each combining a turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. At the same time the marque has chosen to drop the ‘e-tron’ branding from the sole plug-in model it previously sold, and from now on will only apply that badge to its full electric models." reports EVO: "The 50 and 55 variants all share a 14.1kWh battery pack, with estimated electric-only ranges set at around 25 miles on the WLTP cycle. Final UK specifications, pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed, but we suspect they’ll fall in line with Audi’s other numerically ordered models." https://www.evo.co.uk/news/22328/audi-launches-plug-in-hybrid-q5-a6-a7-and-a8 NEW VERSION OF MORE POWERFUL AUDI E-TRON SPIED: E-TRON ALLROAD? Is there an AllRoad version of the etron currently being tested? New spy photos suggest so. "The rumors suggest that the sportier version will get a three electric motor set up, with two motors on the rear axle. The e-tron currently develops 402bhp front and rear motor together and if you double the rear motors, we would come up to 640bhp in total. Maybe Audi decides not to give the e-tron all that power but a figure around 500-550bhp is clearly possible." says InsideEVs https://insideevs.com/new-version-audi-e-tron-spied-allroad/ NISSAN LEAF PLUS FIRST DRIVE REVIEW: MORE OF A GOOD THING Jamie at Electrek says: "Last week we were invited to San Diego to drive the new Nissan Leaf Plus, the updated version of the Leaf with a new 62kWh battery pack, which will start sales in March. We spent the day driving it all through the county on a variety of roads, and came away impressed if not surprised by this iteration on an already-solid package. The main practical upshot of the Leaf Plus’s larger battery is that the car has increased range, power and quick charge ability." What about price? "Chevy has reached the 200,000 vehicle mark in the US, and this will effectively raise the price of that car by $3,750 starting in April. This gives Nissan a little breathing room with the Leaf Plus, and if they end up with a price which is a little higher than the Bolt, the effective price for consumers will still be lower. Nissan has sold around 130,000 electric cars in the US, so they still have time before their credit runs out." https://electrek.co/2019/02/25/nissan-leaf-plus-62kwh-2/ COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week.
