NFL rookies are descending upon Indy for the Underwear Olympics...and we will *not* be joining them! Because the NFL Combine is pretty overrated! However, there are some things that wind up being quite interesting, scattered among the platitudes and meaningless drivel, and today's podcast is devoted to trying to unearth the college prospects for whom some of the performances actually might matter as we slowly approach the NFL Draft. LSU moves Kevin Faulk to running backs coach and he should really help out with recruiting. Good move by coach O after Tommie Robinson left for TAMU. Bo Pelini being back in the fold at DC and Faulk helping out with recruiting is a bit exciting for LSU Tiger fans. After a phenomenal and magical season as LSU had, staff turnover is inevitable and Coach O has made the best of it. Colorado moves on from Eric Bieniemy and goes for Karl Dorrell who has experience coaching in the Pac 12. He was last with the Dolphins coaching WRs and we saw DaVante Parker break out. Tua expected to be cleared for March 9th by his doctors so it's definitely good to see the talented young QB's progress but he is likely to get a redshirt year in the NFL if the team that selects him is smart. Joe Burrow's tweet about his small hands shows his humorous side. I love his confidence and swag, but also this tongue-in-cheek jab at the Underwear Olympics. He is still expected to go Number 1 to Cincy and has erased any prospects of him pulling an Eli or Elway. The NFL-NFLPA CBA is being negotiated and a few high profile superstars voice their dissent on the new deal. We go over the key changes including the 17 game regular season proposal. Lastly, we skim through the weekend's XFL action. This league and the AAF did a better job of officiating and review transparency. It is an absolute joke that the NFL cannot get its act together on officiating blind spots. The Pass Interview challenge rule is one and done...what's going to replace it because the problem will likely rear its head again...

The Scouting Combine. The Underwear Olympics. Whatever you call them, the next big stop of the 2020 NFL Draft season is next week when the NFL world descends upon Indianapolis. In the 77th installment of The Scho Show, Mark Schofield has a preview of the quarterbacks that will be in attendence, highlighting what is the most important location for each quarterback during their time in Indy. For some, like Joe Burrow, it might be the podium during the media portion. For others, like Jake Fromm, it might be a whiteboard in a hotel suite. The most important aspects of the combine are those that take place behind closed doors: The medical examinations as well as the meetings with team officials. But whatever the location, here are the most important spots for each of the 17 QBs headed to the midwest. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We are just one week away from the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine and in that spirit, we kick off our 2018 Dash To The Draft series here on Sports Krunch. This weekly series will give you a look at each position group in this draft class, plus team needs on a division-by-division basis. But today, as I alluded to earlier, we will discuss what to watch out for at the combine. Next week, the entire NFL descends on Indianapolis along with 336 individual prospects. These prospects will undergo medical evaluations, have personal interviews with teams, and of course participate the proverbial “Underwear Olympics.” Joining us today to discuss all of that is a good friend who I met down in Mobile at the Senior Bowl, he is Cole Thompson of draftwire.com. What is the bigger red flag for Josh Rosen to address in Indy: His medical history or his character/personality? What would be an ideal result in arm length measurement for Connor Williams? Can his other strengths overcome his short arm-length or

The “Underwear Olympics” is here! This week, 330 of college football’s best and brightest will descend on Lucas Oil Stadium for the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. There will be tests and interviews and drills galore – drills that will help determine the pecking order for the 2017 NFL draft. And with it the pecking order for this year’s rookie crop in fantasy football drafts this summer. At quarterback, there’s a three-way race to be the first signal-caller off the board this year. But do North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky, Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer or Clemson’s Deshaun Watson have what it takes to be the rare quarterback who makes a fantasy dent in Year 1? The running backs are always the focus of lots of fantasy attention, and this year is no different. Can LSU’s Leonard Fournette, or Florida State’s Dalvin Cook come close to the immense success Ezekiel Elliott enjoyed last season? At wide receiver, it’s another deep class, but one with no clear-cut No. 1. Is Clemson’s Mike Williams the top dog, or is Western Michigan’s Corey Davis or John Ross of Washington “the guy” in 2017? And that’s without even mentioning the tight ends, let alone the defensive side of the ball. Whether it’s high-end stars, sleepers or busts in the making, join the Fantasy Football Feeding Frenzy gang on Thursday, March 2 at 7 PM Eastern as they break down the next group of NFL (and fantasy) stars in the making. Come on in – the water’s FINE! Call-In Number: (347)826-9620

The NFL Scouting Combine is upon us and although we are not in Indianapolis watching the Underwear Olympics, we have out eyes trained on the midwest as the event unfolds. The February 26 Quick Kicks Podcast features hosts Mark Schofield and Chuck Zodda attempting to turn the Combine from the butt of many Twitter jokes to an event that can actually provide meaningful data for NFL teams. To do this, they recommend several changes to the current format. Topics this show include: -Replacing the bench press with the hang clean or power clean as a better measure of overall functional strength (3:49) -Utilizing the squat in addition to a clean test as a way to gauge a prospect's lower-body strength in a functional movement (5:54) -Requiring events aside from lifting to be done in full pads in order to better simulate game conditions (6:45) -The inclusion of pass skeleton as a way to see more from quarterbacks than simply throwing individual routes (8:27) -Additional timed position-specific drills for linebackers and defensive backs to better measure the type of agility displayed in games (10:17) -Virtual reality testing as a way to see how different prospects respond to a standardized set of stimuli (12:31) -Our Twitter Question of the Day, "How fast does Mark run the forty?" (16:27)
The NFL Combine kicks off this Friday in Indianapolis. All of the NFL GMs, scouts, executives, coaches, etc are descending on Lucas Oil Stadium (but really St. Elmo's) to scope out the next crop of NFL talent as the young men compete in events tangentially related to the game of American Football, all while wearing their skivvies. Luke Inman (@Luke_Spinman) is back in the house to tell us about what matters at the Combine, what doesn't and what Vikings fans should look for this weekend.
