Lisa Graves is a frequent and one of my favorite guests on the Nicole Sandler Show. Though she appears here regularly in her personal capacity as opposed to speaking for her organization, she has impeccable legal credentials, including time spent as Chief Counsel for Sen Patrick Leahy on the US Senate Judiciary Committee. So she knows her way around senate confirmation hearings. Today's hearings included Pam Bondi, TCF's second choice for Attorney General (after his first, even worse pick Matt Gaetz, withdrew) and Marco Rubio for Secretary of State, among others. An actual ceasefire with a potential end to the war between Israel and Hamas has been announced... I'll have a few details on that too. Plus some news of a personal matter. The bottom line is that the meningioma that was diagnosed with when I had lung cancer has doubled in size. So I have a few doctors appointments in the coming days and weeks to determine what we're dealing with. I promise to keep you posted as we go along.

Born out of wedlock, Southern California (LA County) native Karina Salcedo grew up for a time in the Spanish speaking garage of her grandma, and is now at the time of the recording (Summer 2022) she is 22 years old, married, and an intern for US Senator Ted Cruz at the US Senate Judiciary Committee, going into her 2nd year of law school at ASU. A woman of Christian faith, she begins each day with the Lord in prayer and Bible study. She eats a great breakfast and works out 5 days a week, and goes to work on studying the Law. With an increasingly sharp eye, Karina diagnoses what ails California. Key for her is the health of the family, its ability to make a living, and the faithfulness of government to the Constitution and natural law. (Natural law is the source of human rights). Her church family goes shooting every weekend, her parents are still together, and are in fact married, her husband loves firearms and freedom, and she is loving the study of law and serving at the US Senate Judiciary Committee and Senator Ted Cruz (not Tom Cruise's brother, we cleared that up). She gives us the rundown of favorite Law school classes and what her routine is like being married, and a sense of the source of her ambition, which is to serve the country in a spirit of faithfulness to God. Yes, we talk about immigration and Republican politics. And, yes, she is Hispanic. So she has some opinions, and so we get into that. The Republican Professor is a pro-close-healthy-family, pro-legal-education-done-right, pro-serving-the-US-Senators-who-care-about-the-Constitution, pro-reading-the-Bible-everyday, pro-Bill-of-Rights, pro-building-into-the-younger-generation, pro-listening-carefully-to-the-best-of-the-young podcast. Multiple oil transport and storage companies across Europe are dealing with cyber-attacks, BBC reports. IT systems have been disrupted in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. In total, dozens of terminals with oil storage and transport around the world have been affected. TCS will add close to 1,000 jobs in New Jersey. Notes: Multiple European oil transport companies hit with cyberattacks Multiple oil transport and storage companies across Europe are dealing with cyber-attacks, BBC reports. IT systems have been disrupted at Oiltanking in Germany, SEA-Invest in Belgium and Evos in the Netherlands. In total, dozens of terminals with oil storage and transport around the world have been affected, with companies reporting that the attacks occurred over the weekend. But cyber experts say that this may not necessarily be a coordinated attack, and there could be less sinister reasons, BBC reports. Apple and Google app store dominance focus of latest US bill Apple's App Store and Google's Play store are a small, but significant, step closer to being opened up. The US Senate Judiciary Committee passed its second tech competition bill of the year targeting the two biggest mobile app stores and their restrictions on developers, CNBC reports. The committee voted to advance the bipartisan Open App Markets Act. If the bill becomes law, app stores with more than 50 million US users will be banned from forcing developers to exclusively use their own payment systems. They also can't prevent or punish developers for offering their apps at different price points elsewhere. The law would also require the app stores to allow developers to directly reach their users for legitimate business purposes, according to CNBC. TCS to add 1000 jobs in New Jersey by 2023 Tata Consultancy Services, yesterday, announced plans to expand its operations in New Jersey by hiring nearly 1,000 additional employees by the end of 2023 to support customers in the US. To nurture a pipeline of local IT talent, TCS will also expand the reach of its STEM and computer science education teacher training and student programmes in New Jersey by 25 percent, the company said in a press release. Jeff Bezos's mega-yacht needs a Rotterdam bridge dismantled for passage Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is expected to become the owner of the largest sailing yacht in the world this year. But first, the Dutch maritime city of Rotterdam will have to dismantle part of a historic, 100-year old, bridge to let the mega-yacht sail out into the ocean, Washington Post reports. The 417-foot yacht's masts are so tall that even the 131-foot clearance beneath the Koningshaven bridge in Rotterdam, according to Insider. The massive vessel — currently known only as Y721 — is estimated to cost $500 million. Its existence was first reported by journalist Brad Stone in his second book on Amazon and Bezos, titled ‘Amazon Unbound.' Bezos, whose wealth is worth about $176 billion, has also commissioned a smaller, ‘support yacht' which will have its own helipad, Insider reports. Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with special guest John Yoo, visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution, and a law Professor at the University of California–Berkeley School of Law. The conversation focuses on President Joe Biden's executive overreach and the "broader progressive assault on constitutional values," the importance of affirming the separation of powers, and the significance of states' rights — the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The discussion will focus on the Biden administration imposing federal mandates — to extend the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's moratorium on eviction proceedings and to use Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in order to impose vaccine mandates in the work place, which is unconstitutional. Moreover, these directives impact individual liberty, the rights of citizens, and adversely affects private enterprises across the nation. The conversation will also highlight the 30th anniversary of Clarence Thomas's appointment to the Supreme Court, and how he "continues to champion the preservation of principle and liberty in American law," as well as the latest findings of the Durham Report which indicted a Clinton campaign lawyer Mr. Michael Sussmann for a false claim of Russia-Trump collusion. According to the report, Mr. Sussmann was working with other Democrats and billing his time to the Clinton campaign. Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation with special guest John Yoo, Visiting Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford University, Emanuel S. Heller Professor of Law, University of California–Berkeley School of Law, a Visiting Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, and Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General, US Department of Justice, where he worked on national security and terrorism issues after the September 11 attacks. The conversation elevates patriotic thoughts and highlights America's founding in 1776 and the advancement of the great cause of liberty. On America's Roundtable, John Yoo, Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy delve into the challenges we face in America, the push of socialism versus the American constitutional structure and how the founding generation emphasized decentralization and federalism while safeguarding checks and balances with an understanding that — "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." The discussion also brings to the forefront the growing China threat, the communist regime's cyber-attacks, the rising military threat and the "debt-trap diplomacy" impacting nations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. John Yoo served as general counsel of the US Senate Judiciary Committee under its chairman, Orrin Hatch of Utah. And he has been a law clerk for Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas and US Court of Appeals judge Laurence Silberman. Socialism vs. The American Constitutional Structure: The Advantages Of Decentralization And Federalism | John Yoo Socialism is finally getting the American honeymoon it never got in the last century. But American federalism's division of power between a national government and fifty sovereign states makes difficult, if not impossible, the unified economic planning necessary to supplant capitalism. Decentralization of power, the Constitution's Framers hoped, would not just promote government effectiveness but would also protect individual liberty by encouraging Washington and the states to check each other. Our Constitution's fundamental decentralization of power does not prevent many Americans from wishing for socialism anyway. A 2019 Gallup poll found that 43 percent of adults believed socialism to be “a good thing” and 47 percent even reported that they could vote for a socialist candidate for president. While a bare majority still opposes socialism, that view loses popularity among younger Americans. Since 2010, their attitude toward capitalism has deteriorated to the point that millennials view both capitalism and socialism with equal favor at about 50 percent. That contrasts with baby boomers, who support capitalism over socialism by 68–32 percent, and Gen Xers, whose support is 61–39 percent. Source: https://www.hoover.org/research/socialism-vs-american-constitutional-structure-advantages-decentralization-and-federalism His tenth book, Defender-in-Chief: Trump's Fight for Presidential Power, was published last year by St. Martin's Press.
