Joseph B. Wallenstein invigorates and amplifies the legal interpretation of Miranda; he puts it in the context of a human story. Thus, with his insightful human dimension, Wallenstein's book makes it accessible to intelligent mainstream readers. In that fuller dimension, "Flynn and Miranda” illuminates the decision beyond the legal-ese explanation. "It is the telling of the last, great, true story of the 20th century," Wallenstein says. "When I interviewed Mr. Flynn, he said to me, ‘I have been asked about the cause a thousand times. You are the only one who ever asked me about the price I paid for my involvement.'" Wallenstein crystallizes the magnitude and breath of the decision: "Everyone has heard of the right but not one in a thousand, even lawyers, knows how those rights came to be or who paid the price to achieve them. Two men from opposite ends of the human social spectrum who came together in one blazing moment of legal history and how that moment changed their lives and the lives of all Americans. At its core, Flynn and Miranda is about fairness and how much that matters in America." Author Wallenstein was interested from the beginning -- the night Miranda was killed. The author has a track record in storytelling, having produced two highly-successful TV series, Knots Landing and 7th Heaven. He has also written two previous books about film production and safety in professional filming: Practical Filmmaking: A Handbook few the Real World and Nothing Dies for Film and currently serves as Director of Physical Production in the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. "Research only made me more determined to tell the story. To be frank, in the wake of Miranda, some patently guilty individuals did go free. The great effects of the decision forced police work into the scientific era and resulted in the creation of the Criminal Code, now in place in all fifty states," Wallenstein says.Megan Davis began her acting career in cowboy boots -- at age 3 for a grocery store commercial and now she's notching her acting spurs in a range of portrayals. Her latest performance in the TV movie The Christmas Family Reunion is projected as a 2021 holiday release. Written and directed by Jake Helgren, whose previous production Dashing in December, starred Andie MacDowell, the script contained a line that Davis was particularly excited about. "It was so funny and different. Anything that breaks the norm of the moment is always exciting," Davis notes. Davis' 2021 performance in The Christmas Family Reunion comes on the heels of a principal role in a TV pilot, For Nothing, a crime drama starring Michael Madsen and Daniel Baldwin. Indeed, Davis has been kicking up gold dust with an eclectic range of acting credits, including guest-starring roles in such series as American Horror Story, 2 Broke Girls, Bones, Young & Hungry. She has also performed in a number of independent films, portraying a diverse array of characters. Davis was nominated for a Best Actress Award by the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival for her portrayal of a prescription-pill addict in the short thriller Adverse Effects. She had roles in films such as The Wolves of Savin Hill and Animus as well as theatrical stage productions of FAMOUS, Elevator, Hay Fever, Dracula, and in the Edinburgh Theater Festival in The Day They Shot John Lennon. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3182694/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1The Douglas Coleman Show now offers audio and video promotional packages for music artists as well as video promotional packages for authors.   New "Kahnversations" Podcast with Actor  Andy Favreau!     In this episode of "Kahnversations," we interview Andy Favreau. A Massachusetts native, Andy attended Suffolk University in Boston for four years of undergrad and two years of graduate school earning a Masters in Criminology and Law and Public Administration.  It wasn’t until after graduation that Andy realized, yes, he wanted to be a cop, but he kinda sorta just wanted to play one on T.V. In 2011, with his degrees firmly packed away in a 18x14 cardboard box, he drove 3,000 miles across the country to Los Angeles. After a few years of trying to find his footing, Andy started to work consistently. Most notably, he was a series regular on Mindy Kaling’s NBC comedy series CHAMPIONS. He has also had recurring roles on SINGLE PARENTS, ANIMAL KINGDOM, THE MICK, and AQUARIUS. And soon you will see him in the HULU limited series LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE. Other credits include, WILL & GRACE, CODE BLACK, YOUNG & HUNGRY, AMERICAN WOMAN, THE ARRANGEMENT, 2 BROKE GIRLS, ROSEWOOD, NCIS and BONES. You can download or subscribe to our podcast for FREE by clicking below. If you like “Kahnversations,” please leave a rating or review on our iTunes page!       There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh. In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.

Yes, friend. It is I. Marc Hershon, host and handmaiden of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Welcome to Epi158, which is another edition of Succotash Clips, featuring a great, steaming pile of snippets taken from comedy soundcasts as heard on the internet. Our Associate Producer Tyson Saner snipped us off a trio of clips, I grabbed some, and one enterprising soundcaster got us a clip from their show by uploading it directly to us — if you’d like to try that it's as simple as hitting our direct upload link at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash!  We’re featuring snip-snips from My Dad Wrote A Porno, Off Book, Quick Question, The All Seeing Guys, and We’re No Doctors. MORE THAN CLIPS In addition to the clips we have a double shot (triple, actually*) of our Burst O’ Durst segment from friend and political comedian Will Durst. Plus we have a new Boozin’ With Bill segment, where our beloved announcer teaches us how to make a the bitterest drink ever to flow from the Studio P wetbar.  And the whole show is brought to you by our friends at Henderson’s Pants. Henderson’s — if you’ve got the legs, they’re got the pants. (Heck, they even have legless pants, so go ahead and drag your torso over to wherever fine and not-so-fine pants are sold.) CLIPS My Dad Wrote A PornoThe first clip out of the barrel is from a soundcast I just reviewed for Splitsider and that’s My Dad Wrote A Porno. I had the cast — Jamie Morton, James Cooper, and Alice Levine — on Succotash Chats Epi141 and now they are just concluding reading Rocky Flintstone’s FOURTH book in his Belinda Blinked series. It’s a consistently funny formula and a truly horrible series of pornographic novels.  Off BookOff Book is a soundcast that is helping to stretch the borders of what a show can do. There are a lot of improvised shows out there but this one, hosted by Jessica McKenna and Zach Reino, presents a full-blown improvised musical. This clip, provided by Tyson, is from their debut episode “Shrugging Destiny” and features the hardest working guest in soundcasting, Paul F. Tompkins. (Speaking frankly, I’m not a big fan of being in an improv group that improvises music because it’s usually pretty bad. Paul F, early in this episode, even remarks that he’s not that great at it. But these guys obviously know what they’re doing, so it’s a different ballgame. Check out my review of this episode from last July on Splitsider.) Quick QuestionOur esteemed Associate Producer Tyson Saner harvested a clip from a new show by an old friend. Travis Clark, late of the Tiny Odd Conversations soundcast, has joined forces with Jonathan Sadowski, an actor you may be familiar with if you have watched Young & Hungry on TV. Their new soundcast is called Quick Question and every episode starts with, as you may have guessed, a question. They then do their best to try and answer said query. The All Seeing GuysThis clip comes directly from the source. Greg and Joe, the fellows at The All Seeing Guys soundcast across the pond in England, used our direct upload link (http://hightail.com/u/Succotash) to get us this chunk from one of their recent episodes. In their cover note they say, “We had a clip played by you a couple of years back so thought we'd possibly throw a newer clip your way.” Just a couple of chaps, sitting around and yakking it up? Soundcasting at it’s purest — good enough for me! We're No DoctorsAnother pretty new-to-you soundcast is We’re No Doctors, co-hosted by Steve Agee and Busy Phillips. They’re not just both comedians and actors, but they’re also self-admitted neurotic hypochondriacs who decided they should do a show about health and medicine.  In this clip from recent Epi4, they talk with guest Nicole Sullivan, another comedian/actor who recounts her brush with death caused by the dread swine flu. (Did you guys catch Steve Agee in Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 2? He plays Gef, one of the Ravagers. He’s the guys with the huge thick glasses. Not a lot of lines but a whole lot of funny…) That's it for now. We're doing a special episode of Succotash Clips to help raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston but it will only be available as part of a package of soundcast episodes being put together by Houston area soundcaster Justin Corbett, co-host of the Mindfudge soundcast. So our next "regular" 'sode will likely be a Succotash Chats show. I will be hanging out at the upcoming 6th Annual Los Angeles Podcast Festival in Los Angeles in October, from the 6th to the 8th. And later in October, on the 22nd, I'll be the on-hand announcer for a live Los Angeles Breakfast Club extravaganza. Thanks for passing the Succotash! — Marc Hershon *Listen to midway through the closing credits for a free bonus Burst O' Durst!
