“40 Now the sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 And it came to pass at the end of the 430 years-on that very same day-it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the Land of Egypt.” Exodus 12:40-41the great escape of Exodus was not a random event, but a prophetic declarative promise for our own salvation “12 But the more they (Egyptians) afflicted them, the more they (Israelites) multiplied and grew”. Exodus 1:12Moses was born in a time when the powers at be (Pharaoh) tried to extinguish God's promised people by killing every male infant (Exodus 1:15) Like Moses, Jesus was born in a time when the powers at be (King Herod) tried to extinguish the promised messiah by killing every male infant (Matthew 2:13-16)“11Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren. 12 So he looked this way and that way and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.” Exodus 2:11-12“24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death-even death on a cross!” Phil 2:6-8“Moses tried to do the Lord's work in man's wisdom and power and it didn't work”- David Guzik“23Now when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. 24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong he defended and avenged him who was oppressed, and struck down the Egyptian. 25 For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that God would deliver them by his hand, but they did not understand.” Acts 7:23-25“In Egypt, Moses learned to be somebody; In Midian, Moses learned to be nobody”- David Guzik.“23Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage. 24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God acknowledged them.” Exodus 2:23-25“6Moreover He said, ‘I am the God of your father-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. 7 And the Lord said: ‘I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey…9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.'” Exodus 3:6-10“1Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.' 2 And God spoke to Moses and said to him: ‘I am the LORD. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name LORD I was not known to them….6 Therefore say to the children of Israel: I am the LORD; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7 I will take you as My people and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.'” Exodus 6:1-2,6-7“Outstretched arms” means God's sovereign involvement to bring a complete deliverance and redemption“The plagues God brought against Egypt has a definite strategy and purpose. Each of them confronts and attacks a prized Egyptian deity. Not only did they bring punishment against Egypt, the plagues also answered Pharaoh's original question: Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? God used this series of plagues to glorify Himself (especially above the gods, of the Egyptians) and to give Pharaoh a chance to repent.”- David Guzik“An inscription by a Pharaoh on an ancient Egyptian temple gives the idea: ‘I am that which was, and is, and shall be, and no man has lifted my veil'. Pharaoh believed himself to be more than a man he considered himself a god, and the Egyptians agreed.”- David Guzik“ ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega', says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.'” Rev 1:8PLAGUES vs EGYPTAIN GODS1)Water turned to blood - Hapi (God of Nile)2)Frogs from the Nile - Heket (goddess of fertility; head of frog)3)Lice from dust of earth - Geb (god over dust of the earth)4)Swarms of flies - Khepri (god of creation; head of fly)5)Death of cattle and livestock - Hathor (goddess of love; head of cow)6)Ashes turned to boils and sores - Isis (goddess of medicine and peace)7)Hail rained down in form of fire - Nut (goddess of the sky)8)Locusts sent from the sky - Seth (god of storms and disorder)9)3 days of complete/felt darkness - Ra (the sun god)10)death of the firstborn - Pharaoh (ultimate power of Egypt)“Pharaoh is grieved at the consequences of sin, but not sin itself”- David GuzikIn this Passover, “The blood of the lamb was essential to what God required. If an Egyptian home did believe in the power of the blood of the lamb, and made a proper Passover sacrifice, they would be spared the judgement. Fifth Sunday after Pentecost The Collect: O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your lovingkindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Old Testament: 1 Samuel 17:(1a, 4-11, 19-23), 32-49 or 1 Samuel 17:57-18:5,10-16 [1Now the Philistines gathered their armies for battle. 4And there came out from the camp of the Philistines a champion named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. 5He had a helmet of bronze on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze. 6He had greaves of bronze on his legs and a javelin of bronze slung between his shoulders. 7The shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam, and his spear's head weighed six hundred shekels of iron; and his shield-bearer went before him. 8He stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, “Why have you come out to draw up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me. 9If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants; but if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.” 10And the Philistine said, “Today I defy the ranks of Israel! Give me a man, that we may fight together.” 11When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid. 19Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.20David rose early in the morning, left the sheep with a keeper, took the provisions, and went as Jesse had commanded him. He came to the encampment as the army was going forth to the battle line, shouting the war cry. 21Israel and the Philistines drew up for battle, army against army. 22David left the things in charge of the keeper of the baggage, ran to the ranks, and went and greeted his brothers. 23As he talked with them, the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, came up out of the ranks of the Philistines, and spoke the same words as before. And David heard him.] 32David said to Saul, “Let no one's heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” 33Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are just a boy, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” 34But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father; and whenever a lion or a bear came, and took a lamb from the flock, 35I went after it and struck it down, rescuing the lamb from its mouth; and if it turned against me, I would catch it by the jaw, strike it down, and kill it.36Your servant has killed both lions and bears; and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37David said, “The Lord, who saved me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, will save me from the hand of this Philistine.” So Saul said to David, “Go, and may the Lord be with you!”38Saul clothed David with his armor; he put a bronze helmet on his head and clothed him with a coat of mail. 39David strapped Saul's sword over the armor, and he tried in vain to walk, for he was not used to them. Then David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these; for I am not used to them.” So David removed them. 40Then he took his staff in his hand, and chose five smooth stones from the wadi, and put them in his shepherd's bag, in the pouch; his sling was in his hand, and he drew near to the Philistine. 41The Philistine came on and drew near to David, with his shield-bearer in front of him. 42When the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him, for he was only a youth, ruddy and handsome in appearance. 43The Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and to the wild animals of the field.”45But David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword and spear and javelin; but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46This very day the Lordwill deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head; and I will give the dead bodies of the Philistine army this very day to the birds of the air and to the wild animals of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47and that all this assembly may know that the Lord does not save by sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord's and he will give you into our hand.” 48When the Philistine drew nearer to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. 49David put his hand in his bag, took out a stone, slung it, and struck the Philistine on his forehead; the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground. or 57On David's return from killing the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul, with the head of the Philistine in his hand.58Saul said to him, “Whose son are you, young man?” And David answered, “I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.” 5When David had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was bound to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.2Saul took him that day and would not let him return to his father's house. 3Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul. 4Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that he was wearing, and gave it to David, and his armor, and even his sword and his bow and his belt. 5David went out and was successful wherever Saul sent him; as a result, Saul set him over the army. And all the people, even the servants of Saul, approved. 10The next day an evil spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and he raved within his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand; 11and Saul threw the spear, for he thought, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David eluded him twice. 12Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him but had departed from Saul. 13So Saul removed him from his presence, and made him a commander of a thousand; and David marched out and came in, leading the army. 14David had success in all his undertakings; for the Lord was with him. 15When Saul saw that he had great success, he stood in awe of him. 16But all Israel and Judah loved David; for it was he who marched out and came in leading them. Psalm: Psalm 9:9-20 or Psalm 133 9 The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, *        a refuge in time of trouble. 10 Those who know your Name will put their trust in you, *        for you never forsake those who seek you, O Lord. 11 Sing praise to the Lord who dwells in Zion; *        proclaim to the peoples the things he has done. 12 The Avenger of blood will remember them; *        he will not forget the cry of the afflicted. 13 Have pity on me, O Lord; *        see the misery I suffer from those who hate me,        O you who lift me up from the gate of death; 14 So that I may tell of all your praises    and rejoice in your salvation *        in the gates of the city of Zion. 15 The ungodly have fallen into the pit they dug, *        and in the snare they set is their own foot caught. 16 The Lord is known by his acts of justice; *        the wicked are trapped in the works of their own hands. 17 The wicked shall be given over to the grave, *        and also all the peoples that forget God. 18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten, *        and the hope of the poor shall not perish for ever. 19 Rise up, O Lord, let not the ungodly have the upper hand; *        let them be judged before you. 20 Put fear upon them, O Lord; *        let the ungodly know they are but mortal. or 1 Oh, how good and pleasant it is, *        when brethren live together in unity! 2 It is like fine oil upon the head *        that runs down upon the beard, 3 Upon the beard of Aaron, *        and runs down upon the collar of his robe. 4 It is like the dew of Hermon *        that falls upon the hills of Zion. 5 For there the Lord has ordained the blessing: *        life for evermore. Old Testament: Job 38:1-11 1Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind: 2“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? 3Gird up your loins like a man, I will question you, and you shall declare to me. 4“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. 5Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone 7when the morning stars sang together and all the heavenly beings shouted for joy? 8“Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb?— 9when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band, 10and prescribed bounds for it, and set bars and doors, 11and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stopped'? Psalm: Psalm 107:1-3, 23-32 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, *        and his mercy endures for ever. 2 Let all those whom the Lord has redeemed proclaim *        that he redeemed them from the hand of the foe. 3 He gathered them out of the lands; *        from the east and from the west,        from the north and from the south. 23 Some went down to the sea in ships *        and plied their trade in deep waters; 24 They beheld the works of the Lord *        and his wonders in the deep. 25 Then he spoke, and a stormy wind arose, *        which tossed high the waves of the sea. 26 They mounted up to the heavens and fell back to the depths; *        their hearts melted because of their peril. 27 They reeled and staggered like drunkards *        and were at their wits' end. 28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,        and he delivered them from their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper *        and quieted the waves of the sea. 30 Then were they glad because of the calm, *        and he brought them to the harbor they were bound for. 31 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his mercy *        and the wonders he does for his children. 32 Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people *        and praise him in the council of the elders. Epistle: 2 Corinthians 6:1-13 1As we work together with him, we urge you also not to accept the grace of God in vain. 2For he says, “At an acceptable time I have listened to you, and on a day of salvation I have helped you.” See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation! 3We are putting no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,4but as servants of God we have commended ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, 5beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; 6by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, holiness of spirit, genuine love, 7truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left; 8in honor and dishonor, in ill repute and good repute. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; 9as unknown, and yet are well known; as dying, and see—we are alive; as punished, and yet not killed; 10as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything. 11We have spoken frankly to you Corinthians; our heart is wide open to you. 12There is no restriction in our affections, but only in yours. 13In return—I speak as to children—open wide your hearts also. Gospel: Mark 4:35-41 35On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. Other boats were with him. 37A great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. 38But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. 40He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41And they were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Trusted & Trustworthy Pt. 5 – A Steward Let's God Use their Gifts By Louie Marsh, 2-11-2024     1) I can't be a good steward and IGNORE my gifts.   “10As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: (1 Peter 4:10 ESV)   ·       This doesn't mean I use all of them all the TIME.   “15But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, 16was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone; 17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.” (Galatians 1:15–17, ESV)   ·       But when I'm called, I GO!   “8And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” 9And he said, “Go, and say to this people: (Isaiah 6:8–9a, ESV)   2) A Good Steward REJECTS…   ·       PERSONAL exaltation.   “17Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.” (James 5:17–18, ESV)   "Oh wow brother - you must really pray alot!"  "My, you must sure be spiritual!"   ·       GIFT exaltation.   “17If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.” (1 Corinthians 12:17–20, ESV)   Whether it's tongues, teaching or whatever…it's wrong!   ·       Gift DELUSION   “3For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned…6Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;” (Romans 12:3–6, ESV)   ·       The wrong MOTIVATIONS for using my gifts.   “15Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing, 16but was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet's madness.” (2 Peter 2:15–16, ESV)   3) A good Steward EMBRACES…   ·       Using my gifts to SERVE others.   “7To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (1 Corinthians 12:7, ESV)   ·       Using my gifts to GLORIFY God.   11whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10–11, ESV)   ·       Using my gifts when I don't WANT TOO.   “1Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, 2“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.” 3So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord.”…  (Jonah 3:1–3a, ESV)

2 Samuel 5:1-5; 6:1-5   1Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and said, "Look, we are your bone and flesh. 2For some time, while Saul was king over us, it was you who led out Israel and brought it in. The LORD said to you: It is you who shall be shepherd of my people Israel, you who shall be ruler over Israel." 3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel. 4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5At Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years. 1David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2David and all the people with him set out and went from Baale- judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD of hosts who is enthroned on the cherubim. 3They carried the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart 4with the ark of God; and Ahio went in front of the ark. 5David and all the house of Israel were dancing before the LORD with all their might, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals. God's story, our story.

Thought For Today

"The Lord is my light and my salvation;Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life;Of whom shall I be afraid?"Psalm 27:1Then we go to the Book of Hebrews 13:6: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"Like never before, my dear friend, we must put our total trust in our creator and not so much in His creations. We have an old saying, "We back the jockey more than we back the horse." Yes, I ride horses and I want to tell you that the horse is very important, but I have seen it many times before when we have a trainer who comes over from the United States of America, a real cowboy, and he gets on a troublesome horse. It is quite something to see. It brings a tear to my eye sometimes. A horse that no one else can ride, that rider gets onto that horse, and the horse just quietens down. It's like the horse knows that this rider is not taking any nonsense, and furthermore, he knows exactly what he is doing, and with that, the horse quietens down and conforms to whatever the rider requires. You and I need to focus more on the Lord Jesus Christ and less on things which can change in the twinkling of an eye, like the economic situation, the weather pattern, our physical health, our businesses, our employment, our careers, our degrees. If we keep trusting them, we will fail miserably. The situation sobers up very quickly when we don't know what tomorrow holds. We need to put our faith today in the rider, and He is the one who is coming back soon to take you and me to be with Him in Heaven forever. He is riding on a white charger. He is the Commander of the Armies of Heaven. His name is Jesus, and He loves you so dearly. Have a good day today as you re-focus and put your trust in your creator. God bless you and goodbye.

Discovering Jesus in the New Testament #03 Jesus My Iconoclast By Louie Marsh, 1-22-2023   iconoclast   noun a person who attacks cherished beliefs, traditional institutions, etc., as being based on error or superstition. a breaker or destroyer of images, especially those set up for religious veneration.   The term originates from the Byzantine Iconoclasm, the struggles between proponents and opponents of religious icons in the Byzantine Empire from 726 to 842 AD. Degrees of iconoclasm vary greatly among religions and their branches, but are strongest in religions which oppose idolatry, including the Abrahamic religions. Outside of the religious context, iconoclasm can refer to movements for widespread destruction in symbols of an ideology or cause, such as the destruction of monarchist symbols during the French Revolution.   Pictures of Jesus   1) Jesus always spoke to the HEART of the matter.   He tore things down to EXPOSE the idols of our hearts.   “1Then certain of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me. 2And the word of the Lord came to me: 3“Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts…(Ezekiel 14:1–3, ESV)   “5For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” (Ephesians 5:5, ESV)   2) I should FOLLOW Jesus not tradition.   “33“Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.' 34But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37Let what you say be simply ‘Yes' or ‘No'; anything more than this comes from evil.” (Matthew 5:33–37, ESV)   3) Jesus forbids using God to MAKE MONEY.   “13The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade.” 17His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”” (John 2:13–17, ESV)   Worship is not a means to an end, it's an ENCOUNTER with God.   4) Jesus loves people not THINGS OR TRADITIONS.   “1At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 2But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.” 3He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: 4how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? 5Or have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless? 6I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. 7And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless. 8For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”” (Matthew 12:1–8, ESV)   During the 1952 Christmas season, C. S. Lewis invited Joy Davidman Gresham—an American with whom he had corresponded for over two years—to spend the holidays at his home, The Kilns. Joy asked Lewis to autograph her copy of his book, The Great Divorce. He wrote, "There are three images in my mind which I must continually forsake and replace by better ones: the false image of God, the false image of my neighbours, and the false image of myself. C. S. Lewis 30 December 1952 (from an unwritten chapter on Iconoclasm)."     5) Jesus doesn't CONDEMN those struggling with faith.   Doubt. The Biblical word doubt stands between faith and unbelief. Both faith and unbelief have one thing in common, they are committed to a particular belief or point of view. Doubt isn't. Doubt is the lack of commitment. When you aren't sure, as the father here isn't, you are doubting. Perhaps the best way to think of doubt is as a pendulum. It swings back and forth between two different poles. You can doubt and be very far from faith or very close to it. Jesus proved this when he said to a Scribe, “3…    “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.” (Mark 12:34, ESV)   Jesus PINPOINTS the problem.   “22And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can'! All things are possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:22-23, ESV)   Jesus gives the doubters what they NEED to believe.   24Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” 25And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”” (Mark 9:24–25, ESV)   The father knew he had doubt, but he didn't know what to do about it. So again he turns to Jesus and exclaimed, “I believe; help my unbelief!” There you have it, belief and unbelief equal doubt. But a doubt that is very near to the Kingdom of God because the father wisely turns to Jesus for help with his doubt.   Today we hear many preachers railing against what they call, “Doubt and unbelief.” They condemn anyone who doesn't have perfect faith like they supposedly have. But in fact, these men don't know what faith is at all. Doubt is not in the same category as unbelief, as even a cursory glance at a lexicon or a dictionary would tell you.   Jesus does not condemn this man, any more than he would later with Thomas.    “27Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” 28Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 29Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”” (John 20:27–29, ESV)

1Then it happened when David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had made a raid on the Negev and on Ziklag, and had overthrown Ziklag and burned it with fire; 2and they took captive the women and allwho were in it, both small and great, without killing anyone, and carried them off and went their way. 3When David and his men came to the city, behold, it was burned with fire, and their wives and their sons and their daughters had been taken captive. 4Then David and the people who were with him lifted their voices and wept until there was no strength in them to weep. 5Now David's two wives had been taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite. 6Moreover David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered, each one because of his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. 7Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Please bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David. 8David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this band? Shall I overtake them?” And He said to him, “Pursue, for you will surely overtake them, and you will surely rescue all.” 9So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those left behind remained. 10But David pursued, he and four hundred men, for two hundred who were too exhausted to cross the brook Besor remained behind. 11Now they found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David, and gave him bread and he ate, and they provided him water to drink. 12They gave him a piece of fig cake and two clusters of raisins, and he ate; then his spirit revived. For he had not eaten bread or drunk water for three days and three nights. 13David said to him, “To whom do you belong? And where are you from?” And he said, “I am a young man of Egypt, a servant of an Amalekite; and my master left me behind when I fell sick three days ago. 14“We made a raid on the Negev of the Cherethites, and on that which belongs to Judah, and on the Negev of Caleb, and we burned Ziklag with fire.” 15Then David said to him, “Will you bring me down to this band?” And he said, “Swear to me by God that you will not kill me or deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this band.”

1Then the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah and said, “Is not David hiding on the hill of Hachilah, opposite Jeshimon?” 2So Saul, accompanied by three thousand chosen men of Israel, went down to the Wilderness of Ziph to search for David there. 3Saul camped beside the road at the hill of Hachilah opposite Jeshimon, but David was living in the wilderness. When he realized that Saul had followed him there, 4David sent out spies to verify that Saul had arrived. 5Then David set out and went to the place where Saul had camped. He saw the place where Saul and Abner son of Ner, the general of his army, had lain down. Saul was lying inside the inner circle of the camp, with the troops camped around him. 6And David asked Ahimelech the Hittite and Abishai son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, “Who will go down with me to Saul in the camp?” “I will go with you,” answered Abishai. 7That night David and Abishai came to the troops, and Saul was lying there asleep in the inner circle of the camp, with his spear stuck in the ground by his head. And Abner and the troops were lying around him. 8Abishai said to David, “Today God has delivered your enemy into your hand. Now, therefore, please let me thrust the spear through him into the ground with one stroke. I will not need to strike him twice!” 9But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for who can lift a hand against the LORD's anointed and be guiltless?” 10David added, “As surely as the LORD lives, the LORD Himself will strike him down; either his day will come and he will die, or he will go into battle and perish. 11But the LORD forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the LORD's anointed. Instead, take the spear and water jug by his head, and let us go.” 12So David took the spear and water jug by Saul's head, and they departed. No one saw them or knew about it, nor did anyone wake up; they all remained asleep, because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen on them. 13Then David crossed to the other side and stood atop the mountain at a distance; there was a wide gulf between them. 14And David shouted to the troops and to Abner son of Ner, “Will you not answer me, Abner?” “Who calls to the king?” Abner replied. 15So David said to Abner, “You are a man, aren't you? And who in Israel is your equal? Why then did you not protect your lord the king when one of the people came to destroy him? 16This thing you have done is not good. As surely as the LORD lives, all of you deserve to die, since you did not protect your lord, the LORD's anointed. Now look around. Where are the king's spear and water jug that were by his head?” 17Then Saul recognized David's voice and asked, “Is that your voice, David my son?” “It is my voice, my lord and king,” David said. 18And he continued, “Why is my lord pursuing his servant? What have I done? What evil is in my hand? 19Now please, may my lord the king hear the words of his servant: If the LORD has stirred you up against me, then may He accept an offering. But if men have done it, may they be cursed in the presence of the LORD! For today they have driven me away from sharing in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.' 20So do not let my blood fall to the ground far from the presence of the LORD. For the king of Israel has come out to look for a flea, like one who hunts a partridge in the mountains.” Saul Acknowledges His Sin 21Then Saul replied, “I have sinned. Come back, David my son. I will never harm you again, because today you considered my life precious. I have played the fool and have committed a grave error!” 22“Here is the king's spear,” David answered. “Let one of the young men come over and get it. 23May the LORD repay every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. For the LORD delivered you into my hand today, but I would not stretch out my hand against the LORD's anointed. 24As surely as I valued your life today, so may the LORD value my life and rescue me from all trouble.” 25Saul said to him, “May you be blessed, David my son. You will accomplish great things and will surely prevail.” So David went on his way, and Saul returned home.

Pt. 1 By Louie Marsh, 9-28-2022   Link on Russian Orthodox Church:   https://hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2022/09/26/desperation-russian-orthodox-patriarch-calls-russians-to-martyrdom-in-ukraine-to-have-sins-washed-away-n498987   Stewardship, Pt. 1 Malawi 2022 By Louie Marsh   What is Biblical Stewardship?   We start where we should always start – Jesus!   “1When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.” (John 17:1–4, ESV)   “6“I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. 8For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.” (John 17:6–8, ESV)   “12While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.” (John 17:12, ESV)   “4Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:4–8, ESV)   1) What it is – define the words   OLD TESTAMENT   “2But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”” (Genesis 15:2, ESV)   The original Hebrew word for “steward” is `al bayith, which literally means “man over the house.” During Bible times, most notable households would have had a steward, so the term was familiar and not originally tied to spiritual matters. The steward was in charge of whatever the Master put him over. It wasn't unusual for one man to run the whole house, or for the very rich, they might have several stewards.   Leadership Servanthood Trust   “2And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who had charge of all that he had, “Put your hand under my thigh, 3that I may make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell, 4but will go to my country and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”” (Genesis 24:2–4, ESV)   “16When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal and make ready, for the men are to dine with me at noon.”” (Genesis 43:16, ESV)   “19So they went up to the steward of Joseph's house and spoke with him at the door of the house,” (Genesis 43:19, ESV)   “1Then he commanded the steward of his house, “Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack,” (Genesis 44:1, ESV)   “4They had gone only a short distance from the city. Now Joseph said to his steward, “Up, follow after the men, and when you overtake them, say to them, ‘Why have you repaid evil for good?” (Genesis 44:4, ESV)

First Lesson: Acts 16:9-15 9During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”10When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them. 11We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, 12and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days. 13On the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there. 14A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. 15When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home.” And she prevailed upon us. Psalm: Psalm 67 1 May God be merciful to us and bless us, *        show us the light of his countenance and come to us. 2 Let your ways be known upon earth, *        your saving health among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; *        let all the peoples praise you. 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, *        for you judge the peoples with equity        and guide all the nations upon earth. 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; *        let all the peoples praise you. 6 The earth has brought forth her increase; *        may God, our own God, give us his blessing. 7 May God give us his blessing, *        and may all the ends of the earth stand in awe of him. Second Lesson: Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5 10And in the spirit he carried me away to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.22I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. 25Its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there.26People will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27But nothing unclean will enter it, nor anyone who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life. 1Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3Nothing accursed will be found there any more. But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him; 4they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5And there will be no more night; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. Gospel: John 14:23-29 or John 5:1-9 23Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word that you hear is not mine, but is from the Father who sent me. 25”I have said these things to you while I am still with you. 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. 28You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. 29And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe. or 1After this there was a festival of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-zatha, which has five porticoes. 3In these lay many invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5One man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” 7The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way, someone else steps down ahead of me.” 8Jesus said to him, “Stand up, take your mat and walk.” 9At once the man was made well, and he took up his mat and began to walk. Now that day was a sabbath.

In this series I discuss my testimony ( A Harlot's Tale) and how the lord never stopped chasing me. We are reading from the book of Hosea, Chapter 3:1-5  1Then said the Lord unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the Lord toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine. 2 So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley: 3 And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee. 4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim: 5 Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his goodness in the latter days. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/deborahmarierodriguez/message

Season 2 Episode 743/23/22I had gone to the RV show at Rockland county community college in suffern New York back in February. It seems like a lot of the new rigs out there are getting rid of valances and putting up curtains. It also seems like there's a lot more rigs out there with outdoor kitchens. Which got me thinking our first rig did not have one our second one does. And we don't use the outdoor kitchen very often. Also I noticed not one rig or camper had a topper on its slide. We love our toppers. I finished putting up the curtains in the living room which meant removing the valence and moving the light switch. A beautiful decision. Here's a link to the before and after pics https://www.facebook.com/277623782811787/posts/1115125672394923/I went to put out my awning and nothing. I then tried the over-the-cab bed also not working. All else working. Tried it on shore power, 12v batteries and generator. Same issues.I checked 12v fuses, all good. Are these 2 issues related? I'm sure they are. The first thing I did was I went to the fuse box the over the cab bed and the awning are on the same 15 and fuse. I tested the fuse and tested good but I replaced it anyway. Nothing. I called Thor support line. And so the headaches began. There was a recording that they were very overwhelmed and I wouldn't lose my spot and what I like a return call. I figured sure why not. Later that evening somebody was asking a question about Thor service so I told them my experience that I just mentioned. About an hour later I received a private message from a representative that Thor and she is assured me that she would start a ticket for me and have somebody call the next day. She also told me that I need to register the rig at Thor this way I can be notified of recalls etc. Here's the website she gave me to do that: warrantysupport@tmcrv.com The next day I did receive a call from a tech support at Thor. But for over an hour she had me looking for the over the cab bed controller. I couldn't locate it she said she would get back to me that afternoon. A couple hours later she emailed me that there is no controller and I needed to replace a relay I found four of them I took a picture of the one I thought it was. I emailed it to the tech and she said yes that's the one you need to replace. I went online I ordered it it arrived at the house a few days later. I swapped out the relay the problem continued. I emailed her back and let her know this and she had me hook up an amp meter to different connections on the relay and I emailed her the results. She's then conferred with another tech for a couple of hours and got back to me and said the relay I replaced was not the right relay. She sent me the description and a picture of the correct relay. That was inaccurate there was no other relay underneath the bed. I then sent her an email about my frustration because this has been going on for almost a week now. And I told her if she cannot resolve my issue I want to talk to the service manager. Well that never happened. So after 9 days of dealing with Thor tech I finally gave up. Our choices were to either bring it to a shop, Thor in Indiana, or call George Fry. If you listen to my previous episodes especially early on I've mentioned George's name a few times. George is a local mobile tech here in the Hudson Valley of New York. He helped us diagnose a problem with our solenoid operating our BCC battery control center on our last rig. When he found that problem he recommended we take it to four to have them fix it being a built it. And when our generator failed on our last rig he explained to me about finding the fault code and tracking down the problem while we were on the road near Canada. Here's the episode where I talk about the BCC and Generator issue: https://www.spreaker.com/user/relaxrv/relax-rv-episode-5_1Then about a year later I burst my hot water heater here's a video on that.https://youtu.be/Ttkn2dYAh8YHe suggested at that time I order a water heater myself and once it arrived here he installed it without an issue. I've talked to George numerous times regarding my furnace that wouldn't light here's my video on that. George is a phenomenal resource. Here is his website: http://tlc-rv.com/ tell him I say hi. So when I gave up on Thor tech for this issue I called George he came over that afternoon. He explained to me that the relay that Thor tech said I needed to replace was not the correct relay. So he did some testing and come to find out that relay that Thor diagnosed as the culprit ran the macerator pump for our outdoor kitchen. SMH. He then started pulling out the switches for the bed and for the awning he traced wires. How he knew which wire to trace is beyond me I'm not an electrician. He then ran some jump wires to diagnose where the brake was. At that point he crawled underneath the rig found the wire that he needed to trace and traced it all the way from the front wheel on the passenger side to the back wheel on the driver side while it was wrapped in loom along with 20 other wires. Then he said I found it! There was a bare piece of wire that had been rubbing against the frame of the RV because Thor had not secured all of the wires inside the loom. So he cut out that bad piece of bare wire put in a butt connector secured it back inside the loom and secure the outside of the loom to keep the wires securely inside the loom. While under there he also tightened up a few loose grounds.George had been here a total of 2 hours. When we were settling the bill I told George you have been here four times at my rig in my driveway. You've been a resource on phone calls when I'm traveling around. And all of that you've only charged me one call for the water heater. I explained to him that I have given you nice tips in the past but this time I want you to charge a fair amount, do not shortchange yourself. He laughed and gave me a super low ball price basically he charged me for 1 hours worth of work while he was here for two and fixed the problem and did an on-site call which should have been another charge. Thank you George I think you might be listening to this episode. So the next day I crawled underneath the rig and I secured more loom where I could see loose wires. I also tightened up another ground that I had found. And then went into the rig sort of closing everything back up putting away light switches which George was going to do and I told him I got it George thank you. So now I'm sitting in the rig with an awning that's working and over the cab bed that's working and we're leaving in 2 and 1/2 weeks or so for a 2-month trip down south through the Shenandoah Blue ridge mountains North Carolina Tennessee Kentucky West Virginia Virginia New Jersey and back home. In that time we will be picking up Kingston Trish's grandson and we wanted this bed operating for him. So here I am in the rig closing up things and said well now is a good time for a podcast episode. So right now it's 38° outside here in New York. The rig was 41 when I came into it I turned on the electric heat strip that I had mounted last full in our roof air conditioning unit. And here it is an hour later and it is now 55° in the rig. And the furnace didn't kick on at all.Last week when we discovered the awning issue I had looked underneath the rig to see if I can find a loose wire somewhere. When I got a faint smell of propane. Unfortunately when we parked the rig in the beginning of the winter I didn't turn off the propane at the tank. So I knew that I had replaced the propane line in the back of the rig for the grill quick disconnect but this was coming right near the tank. So I started taking apart connections near the regulator. I found two problems. An o-ring had a crack in it on one of the connections so I replaced that and then I took the connections off of the regulator and there should have been gas line sealing tape on two of the connections where there was no rubber seals. So I took them apart sealed them and put them back together. Problem solved unfortunately I lost a half of tank of propane over the winter. The great news is it didn't catch on fire lol. Folks you always need to look on the bright side in rving and in life otherwise you'll go mad. And now it's time to start getting ready for our RV trip yay. We started planning this trip a few weeks ago and over the course of about four evenings we had our route laid out. This is a short video showing how we plan our routes. It looks like we will be on the road for about 7 weeks. Our first stop will be a Jim Thorpe Pennsylvania. We will stay at a hand full of wineries via Harvest Hosts. And about half of our nights will be spent at Boondockers Welcome locations. All of which have at least 15 amp electric and a few have 50 amp. And 1 had a dump. The majority of the campgrounds are Passport America campgrounds which will cost us half of their typical rate.If you go to relaxrv.org/discounts there are links to memberships at all 3 of these companies. Harvest Hosts. Boondockers Welcome. And Passport America. We will be away for 7 weeks for a total cost of $650 in camping fees. Not too shabby. So the next episode will be In about 3 weeks. And we will probably be somewhere in the Shenandoah's at that time. So what do you do to help MANAGE your STRESS? Carefully Examining the Text

The writer may state his conclusion at the beginning of the Psalm- 41:1-3.How blessed is the one who considers the helpless- 41:1Then the text gives six (6) lines to show how he will be blessed- 41:1b-3.David's speaks- 41:4His enemies take center stage- 41:5-9. The psalm mentions "enemies" 41:5, "enemy"- 41:11, and those "who hate me" 41:7. The plot and plan against David. They gossip about him. They anxiously await his death. Be gracious to me, David says- 41:10.  The plea for God to be gracious in 41:4, 10 surrounds the treachery of his enemies in 41:5-9.He prays God will raise him up- 41:10.The psalm ends book 1 of the Psalms. Each of the books ends on strong notes of praise to God- 41:13; 72:18-19; 89:52; 106:48; 146-150.How does Jesus fulfill the Psalm?41:9 is quoted and applied to Judas by Jesus in John 13:1841:1-3 Jesus did not seem to experience the deliverances promised to one who helps the helpless.41:5-9 Jesus did however experience all the hatred and opposition this psalm speaks of David receiving. 41:10 However, God did raise Jesus up and fulfilled all these promises through the resurrection.

1Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. 2And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, O Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?” 3Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments. 4And the angel said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure vestments.” 5And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments. “Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.”1 Chronicles 21:1Then we go to verse 3:“But, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? Why then does my lord require this thing? Why should he be a cause of guilt in Israel?”“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”Psalm 20:7Who are you trusting in today? You see, David became the greatest warrior in the history of Israel and after God had given him all those victories, then, he decided not to trust in God, but to trust in his own strength. He wanted to count how many fighting men he had in Israel. He started in The Spirit and he finished in the flesh, that was why God was so angry with him.“Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” Galatians 3:3We cannot trust in our own ability. We started off trusting God... Why are we not trusting God today? It seems like yesterday, we had a healing meeting in Durban many years ago. When we made the call for people who were sick to come forward a man came forward and he wanted prayer for healing. He could not hear, I was very bold and very excited. There was a large crowd waiting in anticipation to see what God was going to do but I got the shock of my life... before I prayed he took out, not one, but two hearing aids - one from each ear. They were flesh-coloured, I couldn't see them. Anyway, I had already committed myself. I anointed him with oil, prayed the prayer of faith and then asked him to walk a few paces away and face the crowd. I called his name out quietly: “John” and he spun around. We were all so excited. I said, “Walk another fifty paces and face the crowd.”He walked amongst the crowd, everybody was quiet. I called his name. He spun around and we were ecstatic. I then told him to walk to the other side of the auditorium and face the wall. I called his name extra quietly and he spun around - He was healed! Everybody was so excited. I remember taking those hearing aids, he left them in my pocket. I took them home to show Jill, she said, “I don't want those in my house please.”So I took them and threw them in the boiler. We had a wood-heated boiler for hot water in those days. The next morning I got a very excited phone call from my young pastor, Mark. He said to me, “Uncle Angus, have you still got those hearing aids from yesterday. I said, “Why?” He said, “There is a man who has just phoned us and he wants them back.” I said, “Well, he won't get them back because I have burnt them.” He said, “What are we going to do?”I said, “I will phone him.”I phoned the man. I said to him, “Why do you want them back?”He said, “They are worth over R20,000.”I said, “But God has healed you.”He said, “No, but I want them for a friend of mine.” And then he broke down and said: “No, I wanted to keep them just in case.”I said to him, “Sir, if you had kept those, you would have lost your hearing...” and with that, we prayed on the phone and he went off happily.I want to say to you today, “Why did you start in The Spirit and now why are you are finishing in your own strength?” Let's look to Jesus today. He is our healer, He is our deliverer and He is everything we need.God bless you and have a wonderful day today.

2 Corinthians 2:11 lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.   ...that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. ...he is a murderer there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. ...he disguises himself as an angel of light.     Matthew 4:1-11 1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.     1 John 2:16, KJV: "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."   The lust of the flesh is everything that appeals to carnal and physical appetite. Although natural body desires are not inherently evil (e.g., the need for food, drink, and sexual fulfillment), the devil can use these normal desires  to enslave man (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:12). In this category of temptation, Satan uses internal lawful desires to produce illicit carnal passions (e.g., gluttony, fornication). The devil tried to tempt Jesus by the lust of the flesh when he urged him to turn stones into bread (Matthew 4:3).   The lust of the eyes is everything that appeals to the eye's insatiable demands (Ecclesiastes 1:8). In this category of temptation, Satan uses external attraction (whether inherently good, as a desire for a house or a car, or inherently bad, as a desire for a neighbor's wife) to produce covetousness. Eve (Genesis 3:6), and Achan (Joshua 7:21) succumbed to this type of sin when they coveted what was prohibited. The devil tried to tempt Jesus by the lust of the eyes when he “showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, ‘All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me'” (Matthew 4:8-9).   The pride of life is everything that appeals to haughtiness, arrogance, and pride. In this category of temptation, Satan uses contemplation of personal achievement (e.g., popularity, academic success) to produce an anarchical self-sufficient attitude. When a person falls prey to the pride of life, there is not longer a battle against the flesh; the wicked one has won the sensual and intellectual battle.  The devil tried to tempt Jesus by the pride of life when he “took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple”, and urged Him to defy God (Matthew 4:5-7).     Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.   Read these: Satisfied Philippians  4:11-13 Hebrews 13:5 1 Tim 6:7-8 Psalms 107:9 Psalms 90:14

1) Do what's best for EVERYONE.   “15See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.” (1 Thessalonians 5:15, ESV)         Imagine how different this could make your work, friendships, marriage, etc.   “10Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Romans 12:10, ESV)   2) Always have a JOYFUL attitude.   “16Rejoice always,” (1 Thessalonians 5:16, ESV)   “12Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” (Romans 12:12, ESV)   If you or I were to make an effort to be just 10% more joyful this week than last, what kind of a difference do you think that would make?         Remember this joy is a fruit of the Spirit – not just the result of gritting our teeth and trying to make it happen!!   3) Talk to Christ CONSTANTLY.   “17pray without ceasing,” (1 Thessalonians 5:17, ESV)   Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit. Luke 18:1 (Mes)         Constant prayer is good – but keep you eyes open! – otherwise you'll end up like the Bloody Pharisees!!   4) Always GIVE THANKS to God.   “18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18, ESV)         Ever wonder why Paul is always harping on this? Try it and see! This is one way to really have JOY!  And it's part of praying constantly! It's part of that dialogue God wants to have with us!   “17saying, “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for you have taken your great power and begun to reign.” (Revelation 11:17, ESV)   5) LIVE through the Spirit's power.   “19Do not quench the Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 5:19, ESV)   “18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,” (Ephesians 5:18, ESV)         The only way to live by the Spirit's power is to be filled with Him – but what does that mean??  Does than mean people who are filled with the Spirit have MORE of Him than others??  If so then fat folks like me are lucky cause we can have more of the Spirit that you skinny people!! J         No – it doesn't mean that – it means CONTROL!   6) LISTEN for God's message to you.   “20Do not despise prophecies,” (1 Thessalonians 5:20, ESV)         The word contempt means to count as nothing.         How eager are you to hear from God? Many aren't – happy with their little life the way it is. If you look at the Bible when God speaks things get messy – and a lot of us don't want that – we have a disease the late Dr. Walter Martin called “Non Rock-a-Boatus!”   “11I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11, ESV)         In the Bible – people who loved God wanted to hear Him, and memorized what they knew He had said!   “16I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word. 17Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word.” (Psalm 119:16–17, ESV)         Wanting to hear from God means you are willing to do what He says!   7) TEST everything – KEEP what's good!   “21but test everything; hold fast what is good. 22Abstain from every form of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21–22, ESV)   On the other hand, don't be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what's good. Throw out anything tainted with evil. 1 Thes. 5:21-22 (Mes)         God commands us to test EVERYTHING we hear – not just believe it because someone says it's true or because that's what some book says!         Example - GEN. LOUIS H. WILSON, then commandant of the Marine Corps, had decided that anyone overweight had to get in shape. He was giving a speech one day stressing the importance of a balanced diet and physical fitness. During the question-and-answer period, a paunchy gunnery sergeant rose and asked, "Sir, if there is a difference of opinion between a troop commander and a medical officer as to whether a Marine is overweight, who has final authority?" The general looked down at him and said, "I do. You are. Sit down."   Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. 1 John 4:1 (NLT)   “1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1, ESV)           How do we test? What standards do we use?       NOT – what my parents say, my preacher say, my old church said, my culture says, OR HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT!!       We test by GOD'S OBJECTIVE STANDARD – THE BIBLE!! Then you reject and throw out the bad – AND HANG ON TO THE GOOD!!   “1Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying,” (Jonah 3:1, ESV)         This is a great verse – one of my favorites – because it's speaks to the second, third, fourth – etc chances that God will give you – even if you've failed to test in the past, He's still willing to use you if you'll let Him!   Example of how being different like this works in real life!   A man entered my father's diesel-repair shop, said he was a driver from a trucking fleet and suggested, "How about adding a few extra parts to the bill? We'll let the company pay for it, and you and I can split the difference." Dad refused, but the customer was insistent. "I come through here a lot," the man continued. "We could make quite a bit of money." Dad said that wasn't how he operated. "Everyone does it!" The man yelled. "Are you some kind of fool?" Burning mad, Dad asked him to leave and take his business elsewhere. Suddenly the man smiled and extended his hand for a handshake. "I own a trucking company," he said. "I've been looking for a mechanic I can trust, and I'm

Sixth Sunday after Pentecost The Collect: O God, you have taught us to keep all your commandments by loving you and our neighbor: Grant us the grace of your Holy Spirit, that we may be devoted to you with our whole heart, and united to one another with pure affection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Track 1 Track 2 Old Testament: 2 Samuel 5:1-5, 9-10 1Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and said, ‘Look, we are your bone and flesh. 2For some time, while Saul was king over us, it was you who led out Israel and brought it in. The Lord said to you: It is you who shall be shepherd of my people Israel, you who shall be ruler over Israel.' 3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel. 4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for forty years. 5At Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months; and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah for thirty-three years. 9David occupied the stronghold, and named it the city of David. David built the city all around from the Millo inwards. 10And David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him. Psalm: Psalm 48 1 Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised; *        in the city of our God is his holy hill. 2 Beautiful and lofty, the joy of all the earth, is the hill of Zion, *        the very center of the world and the city of the great King. 3 God is in her citadels; *        he is known to be her sure refuge. 4 Behold, the kings of the earth assembled *        and marched forward together. 5 They looked and were astounded; *        they retreated and fled in terror. 6 Trembling seized them there; *        they writhed like a woman in childbirth,        like ships of the sea when the east wind shatters them. 7 As we have heard, so have we seen,    in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; *        God has established her for ever. 8 We have waited in silence on your loving-kindness, O God, *        in the midst of your temple. 9 Your praise, like your Name, O God, reaches to the world's end; *        your right hand is full of justice. 10 Let Mount Zion be glad    and the cities of Judah rejoice, *        because of your judgments. 11 Make the circuit of Zion;    walk round about her; *        count the number of her towers. 12 Consider well her bulwarks;    examine her strongholds; *        that you may tell those who come after. 13 This God is our God for ever and ever; *        he shall be our guide for evermore. Epistle: 2 Corinthians 12:2-10 2I know a person in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows. 3And I know that such a person—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows— 4was caught up into Paradise and heard things that are not to be told, that no mortal is permitted to repeat. 5On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses. 6But if I wish to boast, I will not be a fool, for I will be speaking the truth. But I refrain from it, so that no one may think better of me than what is seen in me or heard from me, 7even considering the exceptional character of the revelations. Therefore, to keep me from being too elated, a thorn was given to me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, to keep me from being too elated. 8Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me, 9but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.' So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong. Gospel: Mark 6:1-13 1He left that place and came to his home town, and his disciples followed him. 2On the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, ‘Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! 3Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?' And they took offence at him. 4Then Jesus said to them, ‘Prophets are not without honour, except in their home town, and among their own kin, and in their own house.' 5And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. 6And he was amazed at their unbelief. Then he went about among the villages teaching. 7He called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. 8He ordered them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; 9but to wear sandals and not to put on two tunics. 10He said to them, ‘Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. 11If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.' 12So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. 13They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

An angel is opening a gift to Mary and the world.  He is describing some of the 'who is Jesus' questions that you may have.Jesus is proclaimed now to be occupying the office of the 'throne of David'.  This was promised about a 1000 years previous to this to David who wanted to build God a nice house.  God turns the tables and says to David, 'no, I am going to build YOU a house.' By this, He means a heritage, an inheritance, a lineage that will go on FOREVER.  It is a great story that you might want to dog-ear in your bible in 1 Chron 17.  Cara and I wrote a bible study on it: The Lord of the Kings: a Bible Study from 1 & 2 Chronicles.   Here it is: https://www.amazon.com/Lord-Kings-Bible-Study-Chronicles/dp/1076893244/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+lord+of+the+kings+cara+smith&qid=1622628961&sr=8-1Then the great truth: nothing is impossible with God.  This recalls an angel that visits Sarah regarding a pregnancy, "Is anything too difficult for God?"Today we will ask God for the impossible.  For one impossible thing.  Please listen 7 minutes.

Luke 23     1Then the whole company of them arose and brought him before Pilate. 2And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.” 3And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” 4Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no guilt in this man.” 5But they were urgent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee even to this place.”     6When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean. 7And when he learned that he belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who was himself in Jerusalem at that time. 8When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him. 9So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer. 10The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing him. 11And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate. 12And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other.     13Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. And after examining him before you, behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. 15Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him. 16I will therefore punish and release him.”     18But they all cried out together, “Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas”— 19a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and for murder. 20Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus, 21but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” 22A third time he said to them, “Why, what evil has he done? I have found in him no guilt deserving death. I will therefore punish and release him.” 23But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed. 24So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted. 25He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus over to their will.     26And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. 27And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him. 28But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ 31For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”     32Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. 33And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. 35And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” 36The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine 37and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.”     39One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” 40But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”     44It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45while the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last. 47Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent!” 48And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. 49And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance watching these things.     50Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man, 51who had not consented to their decision and action; and he was looking for the kingdom of God. 52This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid. 54It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning. 55The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. 56Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments.     On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

1Then he brought me back to the (A)door of the house; and behold, (B)water was flowing from under the threshold of the house toward the east, for the house faced east. And the water was flowing down from under, from the right side of the house, from south of the altar.  2He brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate by way of the gate that faces east. And behold, water was trickling from the south side.  3When the man went out toward the east with a line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits, and he led me through the water, water reaching the ankles.  4Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the knees. Again he measured a thousand and led me through the water, water reaching the loins.  5Again he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not ford, for the water had risen, enough water to swim in, a (C)river that could not be forded.  6He said to me, "Son of man, have you (D)seen this?" Then he brought me back to the bank of the river.  7Now when I had returned, behold, on the bank of the river there were very many (E)trees on the one side and on the other.
