Earlier this year I was fortunate to work with a talented group of future This Naked Mind Coaches. These individuals came to TNM from a variety of backgrounds but they had one thing in common: their desire to help people find freedom from alcohol. For 6 months they learned valuable coaching skills including the methodology of This Naked Mind to create results for their future clients. During these 6 months I also worked with a handful of them as their chosen 1:1 coach. During these sessions we worked on business skills, mindset, coaching and limiting beliefs. After the formal training for TNM ended, I invited future coaches to join me in a 6-part workshop series to further their confidence and skill set. Fourteen of them have joined me for the last three months to continue to hone their skills and increase their marketing and messaging to reach clients and build a successful and dynamic business. During these months I realized that working with new coaches in the sober space is an incredible way to impact more people than ever. I have thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiasm and creativity in working with people who are passionate and driven to create real change. And, I realize I don't want to stop working with new coaches! So, I am pleased to announce The Sober Edge Coaches Academy! This is a robust offering including hands-on workshops, weekly office hours, a coaches community and practice coaching sessions. If you are a newer life coach, health coach, or sober coach I invite you to explore the Academy and sign up for the wait list. Door open in early October! Full Show Notes Here
This episode originally aired on November 2nd, 2021. ***Fourteen years ago – yesterday in fact, on November 1st, 2007 – British exchange student Meredith Kercher was murdered in Perugia, Italy. She was just 21 years old. The truth about what happened that night isn't hard to source, despite the hash of misinformation, prejudice and sloppy policework that began being assembled the very moment police were called to the murder scene. What happened to Meredith Kercher is a tragedy. To her loved ones she will be forever missed. But this isn't a podcast about Meredith. This isn't a true crime podcast, though that's unquestionably territory within which this podcast's subject matter resides. This is a podcast about shame. And this episode is about Amanda Knox. You know Amanda Knox – or at least you think you do. You probably have an opinion on her, the court of public opinion is vast and far reaching. Seattle born Amanda was also an exchange student. She was Meredith's roommate at the time of the murder. Amanda and then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of the murder. She spent four years in prison. She got a retrial and was released. There was another trial. She was found guilty once more. Then, on March 27th, 2015, both Amanda and Raffaele were definitively equited of their role in the murder. The court report stated that there were 'sensational failures' in the investigation, and that the lower court had been guilty of 'culpable omissions' in ignoring expert testimony that demonstrated contamination of evidence. If you'd like to know more about the case, the Netflix documentary Amanda Knox and Amanda's recent interview with Joe Rogan come much recommended. But right now, let's talk about shame. What happens when you're cast as a character you don't know the lines of, in a life that's a play not of your direction? What happens when you walk into a room and hear whispers? Where strangers on the internet think they know more than a court of law? What happens when you're given a name, it's doused in oil and mud. How do you reclaim it? Can you? This podcast, since it's very beginning, has largely hung around one central premise - can you escape shame? Talking to Amanda, I think maybe we can. My name is James McMahon. And episode 9 of Shame is my conversation with Amanda Knox.Shame is a Spoook Media production. Spoook is also a record label, a promoter, a shop, a Substack - it's many things. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Fourteen years almost to the day after Paul O'Sullivan orchestrated the arrest of South Africa's then corrupt head of police Jackie Selebi, he has repeated this unlikely achievement. This morning, the SAPS's former Commissioner Kgomotso Phahlane was arrested at his luxury home on charges of siphoning R54m of public money to a "business" associate, one Inbanathan Kistiah, who was arrested last night. In this interview the ace forensic investigator tells Alec Hogg of BizNews that he has been on Phahlane's trail for almost seven years, but has paid a high personal price for exposing the crooked cop. The Bible is such a wonderful book full of life's lessons, wisdom, and God's promises to His children. The Old Testament is full of stories that actually pertain to character development and God's patience towards His children. Last week we went over the story of Jacob, the trickster, who gets tricked into marrying the sister of his true love. He was promised Rachel, the younger sister who was beautiful, but woke up in the morning with Leah, the older sister. By morning Jacob was sober and could see that his new wife was Leah and not Rachel. As Jacob had tricked his father Isaac who could not see clearly, Jacob was now suffering from his own blindness on his wedding night. Both Jacob and his father in law Laban have character flaws and use deceit to accomplish their goals. Jacob who bought Esau's birthright for a pot of stew and tricked his father into giving him the first born blessing has now been tricked and has to work an additional 7 years to pay for his wife Rachel. Why would God choose Jacob?God had made a promise to Jacob's grandfather Abraham and that promise was passed down to his father Isaac and then was passed to Jacob. The promise included a multitude of descendants, the promised land, and through his blood line all the nations of the earth would be blessed (Jesus the Messiah). One night as Jacob was escaping from Esau after stealing the blessing from his father, he camped out and had a dream. In this dream there was a ladder from the ground to heaven and angels were going up and down the ladder. Then God who was above said to Jacob that He was the God/Lord of Abraham and Isaac and He would bless him with the promises given to Abraham. He also said that He would be with him and keep him and bring him back to his homeland.Jacob woke up and made a vow to God saying that if the Lord would be with him, keep him and provide bread to eat and clothing to wear and bring him back to his father's house in peace then the Lord would be his God and he would give a tenth of all that God would give him. Later, Jacob would spend twenty years working for his uncle and father in law Laban. Fourteen years for his true love Rachel and the next six to build his wealth and provide for his family.God honors His promises and next week we will see how God provides financial blessings on Jacob in a very unusual way. The point is that God keeps His Word and we as His children should remind ourselves that sometimes God's promises may take longer to manifest than we expect. God is more interested in changing our character first than changing our circumstances. Read the rest at https://litwithprayer.substack.com/p/the-promise?sd=pf

At times we human beings need reminding as to what exactly decency means. There are societal rules and regulations for traffic, courts of law, schools, hospitals, and even the community swimming pool, as well as religious laws or lists like The 10 Commandments in Judaism/Christianity, or the 75 Good Manners in the Quran for the religion of Islam. These are fundamental guidelines to maintain levels of respect and kindness for the benefit of all. The Fourteen Slanders are no exception. From the perspective of Buddhism, these Fourteen Slanders are offenses that we as human beings commit which are detrimental to ourselves personal growth and can affect the lives of others by reducing the creation of value. The objective is to learn to recognize them and implement a remedy in order to create value for ourselves and others. It all begins with the self. Review the below list and ask yourself, "How many of these do I commit on a daily basis?" Join our discussion as we assess each slander as well as offer a remedy to counter each of them. 1. Arrogance 2. Negligence 3. Egotistical Judgment 4. Shallow, Self-Satisfying Understanding 5. Attachment to Earthly Desires 6. Lack of Seeking Spirit 7. Not Believing 8. Aversion 9. Doubt 10. In the first century Greco-Roman world crucifixion was something that polite and well mannered people didn't talk about. Considered a cruel instrument of torture and shame, nevertheless, the cross is the one thing about which the apostle Paul chooses to boast–not just any cross, but the cross of Jesus Christ, where the guilt and power of sin which enslaved us are removed and broken. And yet, because it was an instrument of shame, Paul's opponents in Galatia (the Judaizers) refuse to preach the cross of Christ. Instead, they are champions of human merit earned through “works of the law.” They boast about the number of coverts they have made, yet they neither obey the commandments nor can they see that the crucified and risen Jesus has ushered in the New Creation and established the true Israel of God. We have indeed come to the end of Paul's Galatian letter–the Magna Carta of Christian liberty. Paul will point us to the cross of Christ, a fitting way to conclude our time in this remarkable letter.https://www.kimriddlebarger.com/the-blessed-hope-podcast

When Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway invested $232 million into China's BYD, it was a nascent startup that had just started selling electric vehicles. Fourteen years on, Berkshire's stake is worth $7.5 billion dollars and BYD has dethroned Tesla as the world's biggest EV maker by sales. Between April and June, BYD shipped 3.54 lakh EV units, an increase of 266% year-on-year, while Tesla's global sales grew 27% to over 2.54 lakh units. It also overtook South Korea's LG Energy as the world's second-biggest EV battery manufacturer, behind China's CATL. The Shenzen-based group is now aggressively pushing into foreign markets, including India where it is set to unveil its first e-SUV soon, with deliveries beginning in January. The company has been selling its electric MPV e6 to corporate and fleet customers in India since November 2021. Its upcoming model, the Atto3, will also be assembled at BYD's plant near Chennai which has an installed capacity of 10,000 units per annum. Tigor and Nexon EV maker Tata Motors held a whopping 85% share of the passenger EV market in FY22. They were followed by China's SAIC-owned British brand MG Motors at 11.5% with its ZS EV. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association, out of the 2.72 million passenger vehicles retailed in India in FY22, EVs constituted just 17,802 units or 0.65%. However, this represents a 257% jump over FY21. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior VP, Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India says we have our own technologies that give us an edge. BYD India will initially sell top-of-the-line premium EVs. By 2030, we are aiming at a 40% e-PV market share. India is among a handful of countries that support the global EV30@30 campaign, which aims to have at least 30% of new vehicle sales be electric by 2030. BYD's entry is a sign of the growing interest of global carmakers to gain a foothold in India's EV market. After launching Kona EV in 2019 to test the market, Hyundai India is getting ready to launch its first electric crossover, Ioniq 5, this year. The South Korean firm has also started developing a small electric car for India as part of its plan to launch six EVs in India by 2028. Hyundai's sister company Kia launched its first electric car in India, the premium crossover EV6, recently. Sweden's Volvo debuted its electric compact SUV XC40 Recharge in India in July. Tata's electric SUV Curvv will hit the market within the next two years while MG Motor will launch an affordable mass-market EV next year. Volkswagen is also looking to sell its first electric car, the ID.4 SUV, in India in limited quantities next year. Mahindra & Mahindra will launch five electric SUVs for both domestic and international markets starting in 2024. Tata Motors plans to launch the Avinya, its pure electric car, in 2025. Luxury car firms are not holding back either. Mercedes-Benz will become the first company to assemble a luxury EV in India as it launches three electric cars this year. Audi India's launched its maiden EV offering e-tron last year. In a span of six months, BMW launched three electric models in India - the iX SUV, MINI hatchback and i4 sedan. Porsche has brought its all-electric Taycan and Jaguar its I-PACE. American EV startup Fisker is aiming to launch two EVs in India. Experts say the pace of electrification in the luxury segment is expected to be much faster than the mass car segment Sanjay Gopalakrishnan of BYD India says 45,000 to 50,000 EV cars could be sold in India this year. Only the initial 1.5% to 2% EV adoption takes times. EV adoption will pick up when resale market emerges. At the current pace, EVs could make up as much as 1.4% of total domestic passenger vehicle sales this year signalling an increase in adoption. With more than a dozen OEMs vying for India's EV passenger vehicle market, first movers like Tata Motors and MG Motors are set to face some serious co

And the show is still committed to digging deep on the backstory to great audio storytelling. Our first episode features NPR's education reporter Elissa Nadworny dissecting how she kept everything straight -- all the files, the notes, the story -- while reporting a two-part series about education in prison. Her insight is super helpful regardless of topic and length of time reporting.

Review: Kids in the Hall Episode 14 of Season 4 which aired on March 2, 1994
Anxiety is real and can have a myriad of causes; if you struggle with it, please understand that you are not alone. The Greek word for anxious in Philippians 4:6 literally means to “have cares”; it has the connotation of letting your thoughts be overly focused on one thing. A lot of the advice in our world regarding anxiety is unhelpful, but Scripture offers much wisdom in how a healthy view of God can help us alleviate our own anxieties and worries. Rather than turning our gaze inward, our focus should be on God. In Matthew 6 (the Sermon on the Mount), Jesus teaches us a few lessons: 1) Anxiousness can come from a lack of faith—while our salvation is secured by trusting Jesus, our practical unbelief can contribute to worry. 2) Anxiousness can come from a confused priority—Jesus reminds us that all the things we need to exist will be given to us. 3) Anxiousness can come from a lack of focus—If you are constantly thinking about tomorrow, you will fail to live today as God intends you to….for His glory. My aunt Jody was a sign maker when I was a child. One of her biggest clients was the FedEx St. Jude Classic, where once a year she had the honor of participating in a truly iconic piece of signage. Fans will know that at “our” tournament, in place of the traditional “quiet please” signs, Southwind opts for a more culturally appropriate, “hush y'all.” It's a local point of privilege that I hope we never retire. Yet, as bespoke as our vanity signs may be, the message is still the same as all the others: "pay attention, something big is near." I would imagine that if you compared the real estate dedicated to signs pointing travelers to Disney World to the square inches the Magical Place actually covers, there would be no contest. I'd also wager no one actually in Disney has ever spent time reminiscing about the signs that got them there. Why is it then that we are so often a people so obsessed with signs and wonders? Why did I as a younger man long with Habakkuk to see signs and wonders renewed in my own day? Fourteen miracles are recorded in the Book of Acts, and only one of them is directly called a sign. In this week's text, we see Peter and John heal a crippled man at the Temple gate called Beautiful. But for all the hype surrounding these supernatural moments, miracle-worker Peter himself is urging us not to miss what's being signified when a sign appears. Every part of this story is screaming at us to look past itself to the Bigger, More Beautiful Gate that is so, so near. So, while the church is gathered inside this Sunday to celebrate the Word and Table, I trust you won't be caught huddling around the St. Patrick sign out front!

Barry Alvarez concluded his 32nd year at the University of Wisconsin in 2021, including his 18th as Director of Athletics and after serving as head football coach for 16 seasons (1990-2005). Alvarez served as A.D. and football coach from April 1, 2004 to Jan. 2, 2006. Alvarez announced his retirement on April 6, 2021 and concluded his championship career leading the Badgers on June 30, 2021. Learn more about his three decades of excellence. Wisconsin Athletics has been transformed since Alvarez's arrival in January of 1990. What was once a department that was in debt and struggling for fan support and to compete in the Big Ten is now a nationally-recognized brand with broad-based success and a legendary following. At the heart of that revival has been the football program. Prior to 1990, UW had played in a total of six bowl games. In the four seasons before Alvarez took the reins, the Badgers had compiled a 9-36 (.200) record. However, in just his third season in Madison, Alvarez led Wisconsin to the first Rose Bowl victory in school history. Since that season, the football team has played in 26 bowl games (including a Big Ten-best 19 straight) and won six Big Ten titles. Prior to Alvarez's arrival, the school record for wins in a season was nine, last accomplished in 1901. Since 1993, UW has won at least 10 games 13 times. One of just 16 football coaches in Big Ten history to win at least 100 games at one school, Alvarez retired from coaching after the 2005 season as Wisconsin's all-time winningest coach with a record of 119-74-4 (includes two games as acting head coach – 2013 Rose Bowl and 2015 Outback Bowl). He led the Badgers to three Big Ten titles, three Rose Bowl victories and coached one of the school's two Heisman Trophy winners, running back Ron Dayne (1999). Alvarez was voted into the state of Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame and the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 2009, the College Football Hall of Fame and UW Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010, and the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame in 2016. Alvarez was named Director of Athletics following Pat Richter's retirement and officially took over the position on April 1, 2004. He spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons in the dual roles of Director of Athletics and head football coach. On July 28, 2005, he announced that the upcoming football season would be his final one as head coach and he would transition to serving solely as Director of Athletics at the conclusion of the season. Wisconsin has enjoyed remarkable success during Alvarez's tenure at the head of the athletic department, winning a combined 16 team national titles and 74 conference regular-season or tournament crowns. In 2017-18, he earned Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year honors. In addition to the sustained success of the football program, which has appeared in six New Year's Six bowl games since 2010, Wisconsin has experienced consistent success across the board in Alvarez's 18 years as Director of Athletics. The men's basketball team has played in 15 NCAA tournaments, including back-to-back Final Fours in 2014 and 2015, and won five Big Ten titles (three regular season and two tournament crowns). Alvarez has been a part of an unprecedented run of success in football and men's basketball. Since 1993-94, when Wisconsin won its first Rose Bowl Game, the Badgers have made a combined 49 appearances in bowl games (26) and NCAA men's basketball tournaments (23), the most in the country (Florida and Texas are tied for second with 46 combined appearances). Prior to 1993-94, Wisconsin had played in six bowl games and two NCAA tournaments. The women's hockey team has won six NCAA titles and opened a new home, the state of the art LaBahn Arena, in 2012. The volleyball team has made 12 NCAA tournament appearances, advancing to the national title match in 2013 and 2019, and enjoys one of the nation's best home-court advantages in the newly-refreshed UW Field House. The men's cross country team has won 14 Big Ten titles, two NCAA championships (2005 and 2011) and opened the country's top venue, the Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, in 2009. In Alvarez's 17 previous seasons as A.D., Wisconsin has finished among the top 30 in the NACDA Director's Cup 15 times, including 16th-place finishes in 2006-07, 2016-17 and 2018-19 (second-best in school history). MIKE TUCHSCHERER Mike began coaching in 2004 when he took over as Cadet-in-Charge of the USAFA Powerlifting club. After he graduated in 2007, he wrote about what he had learned in his first book, "The Reactive Training Manual." The book taught lifters how the concept of Rate of Perceived Effort (RPE) could be adapted to lifting. It went on to shape powerlifting and popularize the notion of autoregulated training. Mike was an early adopter of online coaching for powerlifting and helped to develop that industry. He coached and handled lifters worldwide for the next several years. In 2016, he began developing his "Emerging Strategies" framework—a planning style that systematically determines what a lifter responds best to. Over the 15+ years, Mike has been coaching. He has coached over 400 lifters. Sixteen of those lifters went on to earn a medal at the IPF Classic World Championships under his guidance. Fourteen lifters have earned World Records. The founder of Reactive Training Systems, Mike has taught more than 500 athletes and coaches how to make better training decisions. Whether through innovative concepts or ground-level coaching, free online systems or direct teaching, his lifting, or the coaching of others, Mike has inspired countless other powerlifters to individualize their training so that it works best for them. The Third Millennium Alliance has accepted the challenge of Protecting & Restoring The Most Endangered Rainforest On Earth. Ryan Lynch is the executive director of the Third Millennium Alliance (TMA). Ryan is joining on the podcast to discuss this challenge.TMA began when conservationists Isabel, Jerry, and Bryan met in South America during the first years of the new millennium. They were three idealists in their late 20s facing the prospects of a biosphere headed toward collapse. Together they set out to directly engage the greatest challenge of our times: steering humanity onto a path of sustainability and ecological resilience. In 2007, they founded TMA and took the first step toward creating what is now the Jama-Coaque Reserve (JCR). They raised $16,000 from friends and family, established a nonprofit organization, and purchased 100 acres of unprotected rainforest at the very peak of Ecuador's coastal mountain range—in the heart of the Pacific Forest. In the beginning, they camped in the forest, lived off of bananas and soggy bread, and slept in leaky tents while exploring the beauty and biodiversity of this special place. During the years that followed, they learned by doing. They practiced permaculture, experimented with reforestation, and built a collaborative relationship with their neighbors and people throughout the region. Meanwhile, TMA continued to grow as an organization. Hundreds of people from dozens of countries came to JCR to work in the rainforest and join the effort.Fourteen years later, JCR protects 1,500 acres of rainforest. It is equipped with a scientific research center that attracts biologists from around the world. It also includes a regenerative agroforestry demonstration site that features the country's largest repository of the most endangered heirloom cacao variety on earth.TMA is now working on a Community Reforestation Program with the potential to reverse deforestation and steer the regional economy onto a more sustainable course. It's a model that can be replicated in other endangered ecosystems throughout the world. All of the above is in service of TMA's ultimate goal: create a large-scale conservation corridor in northwest Manabí that connects the last surviving remnants of the Pacific Forest of Ecuador. There is no greater challenge to humanity than protecting and restoring the most endangered rainforest on earth.

By now, 32 Battalion had setup their HQ at Ongiva airport, a few kilometers outside the town, and 40 kilometers north of the cutline. But the Battalion was going to move their mobile Task force HQ further into Angola to Ionde as you're going to hear and the signs were all there for what would become a pivotal year in the Border War. It was during this period that SWAPO would be driven out of much of the area north of the cutline, which would have political ramifications for both SWAPO and the South Africans. This area stretching from the Calueque dam and Xangongo in the west to just south of Cuvelai and Vinticente in the north - then to Ionde in the east was secured by the SADF. 32 Battalion was going to concentrate its operations mainly in the north, around Mupa and Cuvelai. By now, 1 Parachute battalion was also established at Xangongo about 130km north of the cutline. If you recall, there was a friendly fire incident in 1982 where members of 32 Battalion and 1 Parachute clashed so from now on these two specialist units were assigned to specific areas that never overlapped. Despite controlling Ongiva, SWAPO continued to raid around the town. On December 4th 1982 a SWAPO stick attacked a small village south of Xangongo and killed one civilian, wounding four. Another civilian was shot in Ongiva in another raid by SWAPO, then on the 11th and 12th December two more contacts were reported nearby. Further to the east, UNITA had taken control of most of southern Angola stretching from the Kavango then almost to the . By January 1983 SWAPO had increased pressure further south, bypassing 32 Battalion and 1 Parachute and swinging around into South West Africa. Fourteen separate SWAPOs PLAN platoons of around 50 men each entered Ovamboland and Kavango by February of 1983 Then on the 4th February a larger battle took place between platoon 3 Alpha company and 40 SWAPO guerillas, at least six enemy were killed and four captured, but 32 sustained four casualties including a bizarre incident where Lance-Corporal Mario Oliviera turned into a living bomb. Ongiva had become a kind of symbol of South Africa's ability to take control of a foreign country's territory. At the same time, 32 Battalion's core officer component was concerned that they were not as effective now that there was such a large volume of SADF around the southern Angolan town. Captain Willem Ratte who commanded 32s Recce wing eventually had enough and wrote a report about this. He had begun to eye Ionde as a possible new base for the specialist battalion and said so in a report entitled Viability study for the mobile task force at 32 Battalion HQ, Ionde. While all of this was going on, the SA Air Force was planning a new weapons platform. A 20mm cannon was installed on a Dakota DC-3.

When there are no oxen, the stall is clean, but when there is a strong bull, there is abundant produce. August 23 Daily Reading: Proverbs 14, Hebrews 12:1-3. Read by Josh Lowe. Written by Becca Bibee.
Chapter Fourteen: "None of the group had said a word until they were safely behind the long glass counter. Teresa eased herself down to the carpet, wincing, groaning, the rush of their hurried escape catching up with her. Her husband crept around the rectangular area, opening drawers and cabinets, picking up staplers, rulers, ink pens, then tossing them back down, hunting for some sort of weapon. Marie slid down next to Teresa, put an arm around her. She didn't know what to say, or even if she should, but whispered, 'we are going to be okay'.”Remember, there are two types of people in this world. The Haunters and the Haunted.Which one are you?Follow me for updates!@theghostmodernistTheme song and music provided by Atrium Carceri and Cryo Chamber Music.https://cryochamber.bandcamp.com

In this installment of Ken's TRUTH QUEST series, we continue to relive the Civil Rights Tour of the South. Dr. John Perkins, author of 17 books, founder of Voice of Calvary and Harambee, and Christian activist in the Civil Rights movement welcomes our thirty-nine travelers in Jackson Mississippi. At age 92, he brings a Sunday morning message, entertains questions, and signs books. The bus goes to downtown Jackson to the Masonic Temple, headquarters for the Mississippi NAACP, SNCC, and SCLC. The group is welcomed by a group of senior citizens who were active in the Civil Rights Movement in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. They are, each one, "Living Legends." The following morning, the group arrives at the Emmett Till Intrepid Center in Money, Mississippi, a memorial to young Emmett Till who was brutally murdered and became an icon of the movement. Fourteen of the thirty-nine travelers share their reflections, ending with a beautiful dinner at the home of Alert Tate's (Founding Pastor of Fellowship Monrovia) mother. SHOW NOTESSupport the show

The Extraordinary by Brad Schaeffer (Post Hill Press 2021) tells the story of a family that is forced to confront both autism and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Fourteen-year-old Wes is unable to communicate with anyone except his father, who calls him an Ex (extraordinary). Most others are Ords (ordinary). Wes's father is a captain in the Marine Corp and returns home broken in body and spirit after a third tour in Iraq. Wes has no idea how to adapt to this new version of his father. He needs order – his day is regimented, and he follows a timed sequence that includes watching the entire movie version of Sound of Music every morning. Wes's relationship with his mother and two siblings is constrained and sometimes confusing – he only feels love from his father. This is a lovely and emotional tale about how a family can be easily torn and not so easily put back together. Brad Schaeffer was born in Baltimore, MD but grew up in a suburb of Chicago. After attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he lived in Chicago where he embarked on his dual career as both a commodities trader and author/novelist. He currently resides in New Jersey. His prolific and eclectic writing can be found in the pages of the Wall Street Journal, New York Daily News, National Review, Daily Wire, and other well-read publications. His interests, as reflected in his articles, encompass a wide swath from business, to science, education, the arts, history, politics, social issues, and general day-to-day living. He is also an accomplished guitarist and pianist and can be found playing in local New Jersey clubs with one of several rock bands in which he has played over the years. He is the author of Of Another Time and Place (2018), which takes place in World War II Europe. It is a study of the conflicts that good men confront when compelled by national loyalty and indoctrination to fight for morally reprehensible causes. Learn more about your ad choices.
