Have you ever done something you swore you'd never do? So did apostle Peter. It's not hard to imagine the shame he must have felt and the the utter certainty that he was a failure of a human being. But when he encounters the risen Christ, after denying his Lord three times and crumbling under pressure, what does he do? He dives right into the sea and swims headlong right into Jesus' arms. Jesus calls Peter to Himself, despite Peters utter failure, despite the betrayal and despite his self loathing and shame. Peter had spent years with Jesus, following Him, learning about Him and watching how He treated those around Him. Peter knew that he would be accepted and loved and forgiven. Peters actions prove that Jesus was a sure and steady anchor and we can rest in the knowledge that no matter what we have done, Jesus stands ready to forgive and redeem us too.

Cell death, often referred to as apoptosis, serves as a vital mechanism, enabling robust cells to supplant those that falter in efficiency. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in thwarting the insidious growth of cancer cells, safeguarding your precious lifespan. As the sands of time slip through our fingers, these pesky cells multiply. They possess the power to weaken your immune defenses and emit signals like cytokines. This cascade of effects ushers in a decline in vitality, hastening the aging process by elevating the risk of infections and grave ailments. The bottom line is that you want to get rid of them but not all at once. Main Point. God protects his church through qualified deacons. Driving Question. Who must deacons be? 1. The Deacon's Faithfulness (8–12) Personal character. Dignified (8). Not double-tongued (8). Proper steward. Not addicted to much wine (8). Not greedy for dishonest gain (8). Persistent faith. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience (9). Publically tested. Tested first (10). Pious wife (or women). Faithful in all things (11). Private household management. Husband of one wife (12). Manage his own household well (12). Driving Question. What are the results of faithful deaconing? 2. The Deacon's Favor (13) Two simple rewards: Good standing for themselves (13). Great confidence in Christ (13). Responses. Remember that though deacons “do” faithful work, The Chief Deacon's work is “done.” Reflect the attributes of the deacon. Respond to the physical needs of the church.

Episode 132 Lillian Decloe   There's a certain level of outrage that arises from the senseless murder of a senior citizen – 89 year old Lillian Decloe had paid her dues in life and deserved a peaceful retirement in her own home.  But in April 1994, someone broke into that home and ended her life in a violent and brutal fashion.  Dignified and gracious Lillian was raped, robbed and strangled by persons unknown.  Pompano Beach police worked her case, but soon it went the way of so many others, and sat in a box on a shelf.  But in that box was Lillian's sexual assault kit – and the key to finding her killer.  This is not a genealogy case, but a familial DNA searching case. Through this underutilized and often misunderstood method, Lillian's killer was identified by his own son.   This episode is sponsored by Better Help; convenient and affordable therapy. Elitist intellectuals are drawn to the concept of a psychological trap because others' suffering entertains them and because their perception of another's supposed trap reinforces their sense of self-importance and permanence. Poor Sartre, poor DNC, poor duopoly.“The fool says in his heart, There is no Judge.”I agree, Jean-Paul: for your spiritual children, there can be “No Exit.”The local Judean elders, who should be hearing and repeating Jesus's words, are more concerned with manipulating the goodwill of their Roman occupiers to further their political agenda. In turn, the Roman servant, manipulated by the elders, shows zeal for the Torah. Still, his life remains in disrepair because the people of the Synagogue love their “nation” and their shiny new Synagogue more than the words—the debarim—of Isaiah. What right do the Judeans have to call anyone “worthy” or good? Their human judgment, assessment, and feedback “build” a house that Jesus does not enter and a Synagogue that ultimately rejects him.Is there an exit from Sartre's hell? Yes. Clearly. French existentialism, like postmodernism, is silly. There is only one Judge.Stop listening to the people of Capernaum and start following Jesus. Imitate the obedience of the Centurion, who did not accept accolades from the people of Judaea but received instead the one vote that counts. This week, I discuss Luke 7:1-10. Show Notesי-ק-ר (yod-qof-resh) / و-ق-ر (waw-qaf-ra)ἔντιμος (éntimos) “precious,” “honored,” “honorable in rank” (Luke 7:2) aligns with יקר (yāqār) in Hebrew, which can function as “heavy,” “valuable,” “honored,” “dignified,” “dear,” or—relevant to Luke 7:2, 1 Peter 2:4 and 1 Peter 2:6—“precious.” The Arabic root و-ق-ر (waw-qaf-ra) implies dignity, and can funtion as “to honor.”وَقَار (waqār) — Dignity or solemnity. This word is often used to describe a person's respectful or dignified demeanor.وَقِرَ (waqira) — To be weighty or important. In this form, it implies something substantial or of significant value.وَقَّرَ (waqqara) — To honor or respect. This is the form II verb (with shadda on the middle letter), meaning “to show respect or honor,” often used in contexts where someone honors or reveres another.تَوْقِير (tawqīr) — Reverence or high regard. This noun, derived from form II of the root, refers to the act of showing respect or esteem, often used in formal or respectful contexts.مُتَوَقِّر (mutawaqqir) — Dignified or solemn person. This adjective describes a person who carries themselves with dignity, calmness, and respectability.وَقُور (waqūr) — A dignified or composed person. This adjective describes someone who possesses an aura of respect, often used for people who are calm, collected, and reverent. The Hebrew root רפא (rafa) is rich in function related to healing, repairing, and recovering, extending across various Semitic languages. Arabic uses the verb رفع, (rafa‘a) “to mend or repair,” with a similar connotation. "And say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Just so will I break this people and this city, even as one breaks a potter's vessel, which cannot again be repaired (לְהֵרָפֵא, leheraphe) and they will bury in Topheth because there is no other place for burial.'" (Jeremiah 19:11 )ח-ו-ר (ḥet-waw-resh) / ح-ر-ر (ḥāʾ-rāʾ-rāʾ)ἔντιμος (éntimos) also aligns to חֹר (ḥor), “free,” or “noble” حُرّ (ḥurr) freebornحرية (ḥurriya) “freedom” or “libertyحرر (ḥarrara): To liberate or set freeἔντιμος appears only in Luke 7:2, 1 Peter 2:4, 1 Peter 2:6 and Philippians 2:29.  ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Read along with the original article(s) here: https://www.raptitude.com/2023/03/be-dignified-as-a-rule/ Quotes to ponder: "Dignity doesn't follow effectiveness as much as effectiveness follows dignity. We're more engaged while reading from a beautiful hardcover than from a computer printout, or in a lamplit armchair rather than a plastic patio chair." "Wine tastes better out of a spotless wineglass than from a paper cup. Reading Through Dignitas Infinita – The Declaration on Human Dignity This audio is Part II: Learning to Live in a Dignified Way. See all the titles within this conference below. Dignitas Infinita (which means Infinite Dignity) is a 2024 declaration on Catholic doctrine that outlines the importance of human dignity, explains its connection to God. “Dignitas Infinita – The Declaration on Human Dignity” is a profound testament to the intrinsic worth and rights of every individual. Crafted as a guiding beacon for ethical and moral conduct, it articulates the fundamental principles that uphold human dignity across diverse cultural, social, and philosophical landscapes. Rooted in the belief that every person possesses inherent value and deserves respect, the declaration addresses key facets of human existence, including autonomy, equality, and justice. By championing these principles, Dignitas Infinita seeks to foster a world where the dignity of each person is not only recognized but actively safeguarded, ensuring that human flourishing becomes the cornerstone of societal progress and collective well-being. The doctrine is however profound and is beautifully written and published by the Catholic Church. The Company of Mary is holding a five-week conference (one media per week). The session titles discuss the document within a specific context. The titles of each conference: -1- A correct understanding on Human Dignity (previously published) -2- Learning to live in a dignified way (this audio) -3- Threats to Human Dignity – Part I -4- Threats to Human Dignity – Part II -5- Moving forward with this teaching If you can, join us at the Shrine of Our Lady, Dedicated to the Queen of All Hearts for each conference. Otherwise, on a weekly basis, join us by either listening to the audio or, on some media outlets, a video of the conference is presented. Select whichever media format you prefer. Hello Brave Friends! Welcome to today's practical episode, #176. Our guest today is Jayme Betts, and she founded the Changing Spaces Advocacy Campaign in Massachusetts after experiencing, along with her daughter, Sophia, the challenges that traditional public restrooms present for disabled individuals who require assistance with their daily care. With rare exceptions, the only options that caretakers have for changing their loved one's undergarments is on the dirty floor of a public restroom. When the facilities offered do not even allow for this, many caretakers resort to setting up a changing station in the car, exposed to the elements and with no privacy. As the individual ages and the situation becomes ever more challenging and unsafe, difficult decisions are made to stay home and begin a spiral toward social isolation. Universal changing tables are needed. They are powered, height adjustable tables that are large enough to support an adult weighing up to 300 pounds. Changing Spaces in Massachusetts was organized just last year, but there was already work being done by a handful of individuals around the state. You'll hear all about it in my conversation with the inspirational, Jayme Betts. Find the Changing Spaces Campaign website here.Find the Momentum Refresh website here.Find WABT 5K Fundraiser here. Find our first book from We Are Brave Together coming May 1st here.Brave Together is the podcast for We are Brave Together, a not-for-profit organization based in the USA. Join us for a fascinating conversation about Naomi's life, including her early-life escape from Nazi Germany, her formative experiences with elders, and the spread of the Validation method around the world.
